Adobe Illustrator Files Into Flash - Really Annoying Problem
Hi People

I'm having real trouble importing Adobe Illustrator Files into Flash!

It imports them but just misses certain parts out. This is really annoying as the files are Company Logos!

Has anybody else shared this problem? It's really annoying!

But more importantly does anybody know a way of importing Adobe Illustrator Files into Flash without pieces of them disappearing?

Is it best to do them as .AI or .EPS?

Import Images Made In Adobe Illustrator

The Graphic designer I am working with made a few images using Adobe illustrator, now I would like to have those in my move. I know Flash is supposed to support illustrator eps. Files , but when I try to import them I get an error message telling me the file was not fully accepted by Flash, I can not see the image. Importing as gif. bmp. Is not an issue because I get really bad looking images.

What can I do ? what is the best way to import those images and not lose quality ?

Import Illustrator Files Into Flash
I'm doing a animated film and draw all the art in illustrator CS. But when i try to import my files into flash 8 i get one .ai file that is graphic and alot of tmp.png (bitmap) files. And the resulotion isn't near the one i have in illustrator. How do I maintain the vector graphic ?
One another problem is that i can't edit my drawing in flash, can't even change color on it. Please help me.

Importing Adobe Illustrator 9.0 Or EPS Files
I'm having a bit of trouble importing an Adoble Illustrator 9.0 file or an EPS file with the fonts embedded in the .eps or .ai file. It worked for one file, creating a "Clip Paths" folder in the Library, but with the other it just brings in a regular old file without a folder and the fonts are substituted with system fonts. Any ideas on why this is happening?

How To Import Complex Illustrator Files..
Hi, I need to import illustrator files in flash, done this before with no trouble. But in this case, each file has complex gradients, clipping masks, etc., and does not want to cooperate. I could turn these into gifs, but I'd lose quality and scalability.

Any ideas?

Import Illustrator Files- Outlined Type Problems
I am trying to import an illustrator 8 .eps file into flash. when I import the file, some of the type does not come in correctly. I created outlines of all the fonts. It gets broken and in some cases only displays a small portion of the character. Has anyone had this problem? and if so can you please help me get around it.

Adobe Illustrator To Flash
I am making images in Illustrator, but then when I want to copy them over to Flash, the line thickness of the images are distorted and if I save it as a .jpg or .gif, it has a white space surrounding the image. Any way to get the image over to Flash without losing any content or quality?

I have an Adobe Illustrator image that I need to get into Flash. The problem is that if I export the image into an .swf file, the image becomes pixelated close up. I exported it with the highest settings and it still doesnt work nicely. Is there anything else I can do to get the image into flash nicely?

Working With (AI) Adobe Illustrator In Flash?
Basically what i have is a blueprint (floor plan) that i have vectored in illustrator with layers

I Imported the file to flash and it made a graphic symbol.. when you open that it has all my layers as flash layers.

what i wanted to do was break apart the walls in the floor plan and have them come together through a tween..

First i converted the graphic symbol to a movie clip symbol

The problem i am having is this: When i make another key frame (say 20 frames later) it stays blank.. so any movement i make won't tween when i try to make it. It seems that the lines in illustrator work the same way as one in flash but it just wont let me fill a new keyframe

is this a common bug.. or is there somethign im just missing.

it would be a really quick way to do my animation without retracing it in flash

Importing Adobe Illustrator Layers Into Flash 4
I created a logo in Adobe Illustrator 9 using layers. I read that it is possible to import the layers from Illustrator so they will come in as layers in Flash. I've exported the layered Illustrator file as an .eps and then tried importing it into Flash 4, however, I keep getting an error message saying that Flash cannot read the file and then Flash quits. Do you have any idea why this isn't working? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Copying Artwork From Adobe Illustrator To Flash MX
i am doing all of my drawing in Adobe Illustrator (10) and copying via the clipboard straight into Flash (MX). however, most of the time, part of the file i am pasting into Flash is missing(certains shapes or lines etc.). Flash displays a message about parts of the file not being understood.
I have tried saving the file as an .ai or .eps in Illustrator and importing it into Flash but am still having the same problem. it is a real ***** as after spending time doing a nice piece of artwork in Illustrator I end up having to redo parts of it in Flash with the much cruder tools available there. any help would be appreciated by me (and my wife who has to live with me). thanks

Have you guys seen any postings or tutorials that tell how to get an Illustrator file into Flash. I remember just doing a copy paste but for some reason it is not working the same way. Gradient fills are rasterized and the integrity of the drawing is lost. I’m using Illustrator CS and Flash MX 2004.

Trying Ti Import Image Into Flash From Illustrator

My name is Nik and i have just signed up for flashkit about a few weeks ago. I have had flash 5 now for about 3 weeks, so i am very new to it all. At the moment i am having problem importing a file from illustrator into flash. I have my image, and when i import this into flash, it ends up having like a border around the image. So its like a solid image, i just want the image thats inside the border.

No matter what i try i just keep on getting like a border around the image, and trace bitmap i tried but it makes the file too large. can someone please help me out

Import From Illustrator To Flash Not Working (PNG/SWF)
I spent 2 days making some lovely pictures in illustrator, all ready to go into flash. I first exported them into PNG from illustrator and tried importing that that way but after clicking OK nothing appeared on the stage or in the library. There were no error messages. I then tried exporting from illustrator in swf format. This time the picture appeared on the stage, with associated symbols etc. in the library, but when I came to publish the movie, the picture wasn't there at all. I finally tried copying and pasting from illustrator. This simply crashed flash every time.

Has this happened to anyone else before? Or does anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem might be or how i could go about resolving it? Any help greatly appreciated. I'm begging for your help. Thanks.

I have a weird problem... after importing a graphic from illustrator in Flash 8 the graphic quickly move a few pixels in the _x direction @ about the frame rate...it has no actions or other key frames in the the mc... Just a logo...

Has anyone seen this before? It's really annoying/stumping me.

Flash MX Will Import Illustrator Formats Version 8.0 Or Earlier
At least that is what I've read. I have Illustrator 10 and Flash MX. I've been trying to import an AI file to Flash but I keep getting the error message:"Part or all of the file may be missing"
I've saved the file as EPS version 6 and it still isn't all there. Do I need to ungroup the paths in Illustrator or what am I missing?

Adobe Illustrator Imports
Hey all, I don't usually care for making images in Flash...so I use Adobe Illustrator...for my recent project for school I created all the images in Illustrator, then imported them to flash. All was fine the first time - but when I decided to make changes to the images, then import them again, flash in it's infinite wisdom decided to leave out parts of the image...I don't know if anyone else has come across this, but it's pissing me right off. Also, the first time I imported a certain image that had been 3D Extruded and Beveled in Illustrator, flash left out parts of that image too. Anyone else have that problem? Just try it if you have illustrator. Create a square with no border...then do the 3D Extrude and Bevel effect and import it into flash mx and see what happens.

How To Import Adobe Illus. Vector Graphics Into Flash?
I'm working with a professional animator who has created some seriously graphic intensive artwork in Illustrator and it's vectorized. I'm clueless as to how I can get that art into flash and have it maintain the vector.

The latest version of Illustrator allows us to 'save as' .swf, but when I open the .swf it won't let me convert the images into the layered .fla file where I need to work with the images.

Proble In Importing Text From AI Format File Of Adobe Illustrator CS

I am developing a map application in flash. The map have so many text on it. The map is designed in illustrator CS. I am saving the map in .AI format and importing it in flash 8. After importing the map has some problem -

1. the text alignment is distorted.
and its first color of the text is changed to red color.

2. The map file has lines also. the lines are converted in dotted line automatically.

How can i get rid from this problem.

I notice that every part of my illustrator image comes in as a group/overlay object, I'm a newbie so I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing. I also noticed that you can save .swf files from illustrator is this a better way to go about it. ? I (might) have a job doing some illustrations for a flash project and as I have never used the drawing tools in flash (always imported from illustrator or photoshop) I need to know everything I can about this process.

ILLUSTRATOR IMPORT BUG?
So I import masked images, break em apart, make new symbols out of em and then spend fully two hours on em, then I export it and check out what I done....looks not quite right, so I go back into MX and theres nothing on my stage. I mean I have keyframes in the time line, but no objects on the freakni stage. So what do I do? Who do I hit? Myself? Did I **** up here?

Best Way To Import From Illustrator
i have made an icon as a vector in illustrator that i am importing into flash, in flash i have a tween that makes the icon larger when the mouse goes over it, but for some reason it enlarges every part seperately.
i have placed it into a movieclip, grouped the objects etc..

just wondering if anybody else has ever had this and what they did?

I drew the paths in photoshop, inked them in illustrator and then saved and imported into flash. Most lines and shapes are fine but a number of them do not import and some others import all wrong. Has anyone had a similar problem?

I am working with a CS3 fla that's library is an Illustrator file. Is there any way to update the imported library in one move? It seems tha you can only re-import the AI file and pick and choose which new elements to include.

I'm definitely not a flash pro so I would like some help!

I'm trying to animate a man in Flash CS3 who was drawn in illustrator CS3.

I've imported all the layers but when I try to tween them only the ones that have a single path tween correctly. Can you only tween single path layers or am I being an idiot?

Illustrator Import Problems
I am having trouble importing artwork from Illustrator 9 to Flash 5. I can't seem to import anything unless it's saved as version 7.0 or below in Illustrator.

When I save any higher I get an error message to the effect that Flash cannot read the whole file. Then what appears to be a sample of every Illustrator swatch shows up!

You are probably wondering why I don't just shut up and use Ill 7 files. The problem is ** all of my nice sharp corners get rounded in Flash!!!*** How do I fix this. I've tried copy and paste to no avail. Please help.

Import Gradient From Illustrator?
Hi,

I've been trying to use artwork (designed in Illustrator) in Flash. Typically, I just cut and paste from AI into Flash. However, when I try this with any sort of gradient, it only pastes the outline.

Also, when I try to import artwork saved as an EPS file into Flash (the same pic), Flash tells me that:
"The EPS file was not understood. Part of the file may be missing." and then tells me that it can only import Illustrator EPS format.

If it is the case that I can't import or cut/paste form AI into Flash, how do I fill a path cut and pasted into Flash? I much prefer to draw in AI, and I don't want to be forced to draw in Flash if I can help it (though I do need the gradients).

Any help would be most appreciated.

Illustrator Export/Import
Ok, I have a site due to launch for a client in the morning. It is a small project-just a homepage, but it is to see if she has enough intrest from the public to justify building an e-commerce site.

I have created the visual theme in Illustrator 10, but when I export to swf, some of my gradient fills are missing-I am left with just paths, also some gradients export as solids.

I have tried taking the shapes seperately and exporting them as individuaal files-this does not work. I have also tried saving as ai and doing a native import or even importing directly to library. None of the problem shapes are using transparency...so I don't know what the problem is. If anyone has some knowledge in this area, I should would appreciate it. I'm running a bit short on time.

Problem With Illustrator Import
Hi, I'm trying to import a vector file from illustrator. It's a logo. I've tried copying and pasting it straight from Illustrator, which usually works, as well as trying to import the actual file. But both ways it comes in distorted. some entire letters are missing from the logo. very strange. currently it's saved as an .ai file. should I try it as an .eps? does it make a difference?

here's the deal. i'm creating a flash mx document and the logo i created in illustrator cs is importing with a problem. in the illustrator document i have "ADDED TO SHAPE AREA" and "EXPANDED" so almost all the overlapping pieces have become one shape.

when i import to flash one small area seems to be knocked out and it fills with black. i have tried everything i can think of to remedy this but to no avail. does anyone have any idea what is going on here?

i have attached GIFs of what it should look like, what it looks like in outline view in illustrator (to demonstrate the "EXPANDED" shape), and the problem in flash.

i have an ocd client who wants his logo used that he made in illustrator...I have retraced it manytimes in flash but he can always tell the difference...

is there a way i can export from illustrator into flash and still preserve the line or path quality?

.tif/photoshop/illustrator Files Imported To Flash Movie
hi, i have some cartoons (originally hand-drawn, so no true vector format) that were (digitally) originally .tif files. what's the best way to save/optimize them to import into flash so that:

-the movie clip doesn't get too huge
-the cartoons (charicatures, really), when placed on a dark background, don't show up the white crinkled outlined edges from the photoshop alterations (removing the white background from the cartoon body so i can move a transparent image seamlessly in the website.

and in general, for importing from illustrator to flash (or is importing from photoshop better?) what're the best guidelines for crisp, sharp, hot hot results in my flash movie(as a website)?

also, while we're on the topic, best guidelines for optimizing images in photoshop for flash (but with transparency in the image)?

*note the attached cartoon is a diminished version of the original digital file.

Please share any tips about software tools or processes that can help cut down on sizes of shaded vector images for flash. Very large several mg (2-3 ish) images here, that each need to be turned into swfs that are around 25k.

Import From Illustrator Problem- With A New Twist
Hi,

I have just spent an hour combing the archives for an answer to this so if it's there, I missed it.

I am attempting to import an Illustrator CS file into Flash. If I export as .swf, it comes up great in the player but when I attempt to import the .swf into Flash, it screws up the file. The graphic consists of 9 gradient filled circles that have been cut through with curves leaving a segmented appearance (picture radio waves eminating from the edge of each circle). There are also a couple of text words that have been modified after converting to curves. The text show up well but the balls get a squared off ratty appearance.

Now, here's the twist: If I select the graphic and then click to move it, I can see the circles beneath the garbage as selected outlines but if I go to select and remove the garbage, a whole "chunk" dissappears leaving nothing beneath.

Ultimately, I want to import the graphic with each ball on a different layer to animate them independantly. I figured I better try to wlk before I run and hence, I am attempting the import as a single layer.

Have I done something wrong in Illy CS or am I doing something wrong in Flash?
