Greetings,

I am working with Flash MX 2004, Coldfusion and mysql. I am dynamically loading data from coldfusion into textareas in flash. Now, I want to load new data in same textarea. I need a fading/blurring effect to mingle between these two data packets.

I am new to AS and hence would appreciate if i get a step by step description of the same.

Also, I need to sound a beep after 6 seconds of loading of the flash/swf file. please help me with this too.

Flash 8 Alpha Text Effect - Doesnt Show In SWF
Hello all,

So I made some small SWFs with the alpha level of text changing(tweened) to create some fading. Whenever I "preview" it in flash, it looks fine, but once I export it to an SWF, it doesnt show correctly....the alpha goes from 10% to 100% in one frame, with nothing for all the rest of the frames...
I tried converting the text into a symbol and tried to alpha blend that, same results...
Anyone have any ideas?

Unable To Make Alpha Change For Customizable Text
Here is the problem I encounter. While I am able to pass variables from the HTML code FlashVars into flash movie to customize a header name, its color and font size etc, I have problem making it animated well. I am using Flash MX 2004 Pro, and I use a Label component to carry the variables, and able to make the label move, change size, but when I try to change its alpha during tweening, nothing happens. I also try to put the label in a movie clip then apply the tweening, nothing new happens. I appreciate any suggestions that may help.

[AS3] How To Make Typewriter Text Effect?
I am trying to make a function where if i pass a text, it displays it with a typewriter effect! I really have no idea how to do it to be flexible enough to use with various dynamic textboxes, but thats for later, for now can any of you tell me how do i get the "blinking cursor" thing? Normally i can use a timer to append text to the box, but how do i get the blinking cursor at the end of that text being typed?


Also if you dont mind can you tell me if there is any way to pass the textbox id as a parameter to the function?

Text Inside Symbol Doesnt Obey "ALPHA" Effect
Hey,
Im working with flash, and i've got some text inside a symbol, but the problem is, when i try to animate the symbol to go to, for example Alpha 0% to 100%, it doesnt obey that, and just from one frame to another goes from "Invisible" to "visible", when i made it turn from alpha 0 to 100 through 30 frames.

These are my text properties, the text is in a symbol.
My alpha use to work, untill i activated the button i highlited in RED (Donno what its called in english), which makes the text look very fine, instead of a bunch of pixels. Once i activated this, the alpha doesnt work. What's wrong?
Any suggestions/solutions?

I am doing on a project by doing a flash and now I am having a big big problem that I have no idea how to deal with. I hope someone here can help me.

Let me tell you what do I expect to see in my flash first.

I seperated some objects (ie. trees, recycle bin, light) by turning them into buttons. For each botton, later I would like to have some descriptions nearby.

I would like when people "mouseover" a button, everything (except the button) will be alpha or tint. That is to let people concentrate on the object that their mouses are over on.

I have made three buttons with the same alpha/tint effect in the .swf file attached. They are (trees), (light), and the (recycle bins).

Here are the procedures:
1: I made the trees into one button, and add effect

2: I made the light into one button, and add effect

3: I made the recycle bins into one button and add effect




but the outcome is that:

when i mouseover the tree: (i made this button 1st)


it turns out that all the buttons (3 buttons) can be seen clearly, while i expect that only TREE can be seen clearly and all others (including the buttons= recycle bins and the light) should be covered with "alpha" effect.

when i mouseover the light: (i made this button 2nd)

it turns out that 2 buttons can be seen clearly (while the 1st button i made, tree, is with alpha effect)

when i mouseover the recycle bin: (i made this button the last)

it is what i expected. that all buttons and everything are with alpha effect, except the recycle bin




i hope someone here can tell me the solution to solve it, thank you very much.

If you click on one of the buttons up at the top ("company", "solutions", etc), you can see the special FX that I'm wondering about. It's obviously not a jpg movie. To think that he did this manually by creating individual pngs just doesn't seem to make sense either. Is there a way to create this using programs such as AfterFX or something? I don't get how he made it so that it's got alpha channels. Like at the top part, as the fx is playing, the background isn't covered up.

Using Alpha Effect
Im trying to fade text in using the alpha effect tool from one key frame to another. I have set up the first frame with a movie clip containing text set at 0% and set up a second frame further down the timeline with the alpha effect set at 100%. I then added the tween effect to create the fading in of the text. When i move the timeline along on the stage the effect works perfectly. However, when i publish and test the movie as an swf the effect doesnt work. I am left with the text just popping on to the screen as opposed to fading on. Any ideas whats going on?

Alpha Effect
Hi there,

I am trying to create an alpha effect with the graphic going from 0% to 100% then back to 0% over 10 frames. I converted it to a Movie Clip, there first frame is fine because there are the options of choosing the alpha effect which i put down to 0% but when i go to frame 5 there are no options to put it back to 100%, does anyone know what i'm doing wrong with this? I'm using Flash MX.

[F8] Alpha Effect And Nested MC's
Hello. I have yet another newbie question with actionscript.

Inside one MC, I have a series of other MC's such as a "news", "bio", etc. I would like all my MC's to start of with an alpha value around 20. Then when you rollover the MC it increases to 100 alpha.

I achieved this with mc.alphaTo but I am having a problem. Within the news MC, I have a nest scroller. When the alpha script is applied it disables the scroller.

How can I get this effect and still keep the nested items usable?

Alpha Effect For Gallery?
Hi,

I'd like to accomplish the following effect without using levels or tweens on the timeline. I've attached a file with no actionscript, just the layoutand the clips.

Basically...

My gallery has three buttons and three movie clips. When you go to the gallery, the first image is visible. If you click on either the second, third or fourth button the first image fades out and the movie clip that corresponds to the button fades in.

Basically the button needs to know to do the following:

1. Fade in the MC associated with the movie to 100%

2. Fade out whichever movie clip is currently visible.

Any takers???

MC's Not Functional With Alpha Effect
Just so you know, I am very much a newbie to flash.. but you can probably tell by my questions...


Anyway, I have a series of nested movieclips that on rollOver they come to full alpha value and on rollout they go to like 20 alpha. In one of the clips it has a scroller but when I apply the alpha effect it makes the scrollbar not functional.

How can I make an alpha effect like this with making everything inside the MC functional?

A Particular Effect, Bitmap Alpha
what im looking to do is, using a bitmap, use the colour of each pixel to define its own alpha value,

to give you a better idea of the effect, im looking to have a cloud image pass over a logo, obviously you can see through some of the cloud and not oher bits, any suggestions ? or will i have to use multiply cloud layers and mock up an effect ?, thanks

Slowly Increasing Alpha Effect
What i am trying to do is when a botton is clicked, it will sent a movie instance to another frame and stop. where it stops i have another movie that is 100 layers and 1 frame. on that movie i am trying to get it to loop and display a slowly insreasing alpha effect. this is the code i have and im not sure what im doing wrong.

Alpha Settings / Multiply Effect
Hello All

I am working on a project where I need to have the vector art that moves around "multiply" when It moves over the artwork below it.

I can adjust the Alpha settings to create show thru but it seems to lighten the top object. I need to see the effect of the bottom colour and the top colour "multiplying" (as if the layer was set to multiply in a Photoshop document).

Any ideas on how to get a true multiply effect to work inside Flash MX?

MC Movement With Alpha Effect. FMX2004
Hello.

I wish to include an animation effect to a new flash project and I don't know how to do it. What I want to do is that at the same time a Movie Clip is moving from left to right it's alpha value gets incremented from 0 to 70. What I really need is that the alpha transitions were synchronized with the movement of the Movie Clip. I will appreciate any help, because I'm lost here.

Problem With Alpha Effect Flash MX
Hi,

I'm trying to get the Alpha Effect for a fade in on a Motion Tween of a JPEG image to work in Flash MX but it won't let me. All I would do in Flash 5 is set the first keyframe to Alpha=0 and the last to Alpha=100. However in Flash MX the effect pulldown is greyed-out no matter what I try.

I've got everything setup as I would in Flash 5 but when I go to change the alpha it won't let me.

What am I doing wrong?

For some odd reason when I apply an alpha of say 30% on a button that only consists of text, it does not seem to take effect in preview mode even though it shows up while editing the movie? Is there a step I'm missing??
