How To Make Smoother Animations In Flash
I am noticing that some animations can get jaggedy in Flash. How do you make it smoother, is it increasing the frame rate setting for the movie or some other settings?

Smoother Animations
I'm guessing that the path to smoother animations is simply increasing the frame rate?? Am I right.
Basically I'm thinking if it takes object 'ball' 24 frames to travel from point A to point B, instead of only 12 frames, the animation is going to be smoother because of the extra frames along the way.
Right??

Advice To Make Smoother.
I just want to say that I know that the site isn't much to look at right now, basically put something up just to convey info for the time being untill I learn this program better. I wanted some opinions on how I could get the "transit" I have on the page to be smoother. Didn't know if there was a way that I could motion/shape tween a graphic symbol like this or not.

How To Make Text Scroll Smoother
Can anyone help me make my dynamic text box scroll smoother? My Flash document is set at 30fps and I use the 'onEnterFrame' method so surely the text should scroll smoothly?!

Hello. I was looking for some help and I found it in the form of these forums
I'm very new to flash, I made a silly animation but if I send it to someone else they can't view it. I talked about this with my younger brother and he said something about putting it in HTML but I didn't really get it.

I have a flash animation, but i have alot of things moving at once, my pictures are png's so i can have the transparency, and i'm using a lot of masks, unfortunately, my animation runs a bit slow coz of this, is there anyway to speed this up? to make it smoother?

If I give you this text scroller download can you make it scroll smoother? Thats the challenge I havent seen one roll smoothe yet. Can you apply some code to make it scrol in small pixel amounts and speed as well? So that it rolls up or down the screen the same as movie words scrol on the TV screen?

How To Make Smooth Animations
Hi,
I have been trying to make simple animations like motion tweening a ball (graphic symbol ) or using guide layer to animate an electron around the nucleus.
The problem I am facing is that I find these animations are rarely smooth. If you observe closely it is a jittery motion....not very pleasing to look at.
I tried changing the frames per second rate.....from 1 to 120, but it does not produce the smoothness..
Would you know how do I go about doing smooth animations?

the stage have 2 "robots", i need to animate it to detect objects and push it to the red hole. no matter how the objects are being placed the "robots" can always detect it and push it to the red hole.

How To Make Animations Float With Transparent Background
I am taking a graduate course in adv. web design for an ed tech program at a university. Neither my instructor nor anyone else in my class knows how to get Flash animations to have a transparent background, or even if this is possible. On behalf of us all, I am wondering if it is possible to create a Flash animation without a background--or with a transparent background, and then superimpose it onto a web page so that the web page's background shows through all but the animated part. We are using Flash 8. If it is possible, can someone please tell us how to do it? I have seen web pages where the animations float over the web page. Are these animations made with Flash or with another program? Thank you!

The images are like "building blocks " according to the client...
They only about 60kb!

The file is only abot 500 x 300 px so you'll have to resize your browser size to that to see it correctly.
Mouseover Resize, Smoother Preloader (Flash 8)
I've done the search thing and found a few helpful threads. Unfortunately I can't seem to get the AS to work in Flash 8, probably because it's AS1, at least that's my best guess. So I thought I'd start a new thread and hopefully get one of you guru's to help me out.
First off, I want a smooth preloader. I found this tutorial on smoother preloaders, but for some reason it doesn't work in Flash 8. I imagine that it probably uses depreciated code, but I don't know enough AS to be able to "fix" it on my own, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Second question: I recently created a start button using the glow and drop shadow filter animation tutorial from gotoandlearn.com, it looks cool and all but I want the MC that I'm using (a simple circle) to shrink when I mouse over and grow back when I mouse out, with easing. As I've said, I found a few helpful threads here on Kirupa, but either I'm just not getting it or the code doesn't work in flash 8. I don't have an FLA right now because I got frustrated and closed without saving.
So if anyone has the answers to either or both of these questions I'd really, greatly appreciate your help.

Ive done like this: takes each individual picture at collected them in a movieclip, which i tween using the timeline. I tween it one pixel per frame, going at a 28 framerate.
Is there anything i can do to make this animaion smoother?

Help With Smoother Tweens
Hello All,
I'm looking for a little help with an animation I'm working on. You can see an example by going to http://www.asset-point.com/v2. Right now it's at 20fps and it rings in at a decent 44K so it's not that bad..like a big jpg or something. Ignore the spelling errors, the text is just a filler for now.
Anyway, I'm looking for suggestions on getting the opening image and some of the other tweens to move a lot smoother, and it seems like changing the fps isn't doing anything. Could anyone suggest another way I can make this tween and or the whole animation look crazy sexy cool. Thanks all.
FYI, those images are not converted bitmaps, they are hand drawn using a combination of actual images and touch-ups. I think it gives it a slighlty more human feel. The comm room itself took f'in forever. (Pause it and zoom in on various parts)

Smoother Download?
I've created a website in MX that uses the loadMovie action to call swfs from buttons and load them at level 0. There are two large swfs (nearly 400k and 850k) that, of course, take quite a long time to download from a dial-up connection, then play a little, then stop and play some more.
Is there a way that I can either a) compress them to get them to download more quickly without sacrificing too much quality; or b)have the browser wait for the whole swf to download before playing, so it plays through smoothly; or c)(*preferably*) both? Or, are these swfs just way too big for a dial-up to download reasonably?

How can I smoothen the tweening?
I have made text, into the symbol of a graphic, as it will fade in, and move from a little distance a way.
I want the graphic to fade in and move smoothly within 5 maybe 10 frames.
I have put everything togather, yet when I use the tween, it makes the graphic move blocky.
Any help on how I can make the tweening more smoother??
Smoother Rollovers

I have made buttons that contain a MC with both rollover and rollout states.
I am trying to simulate the way the thumbnails appear in this navigation
All seems to be working fine except for when the mouse is moved over the buttons in a hurry and it almost seems to "freeze" all buttons in their state.
Anyone have any ideas on how to make it run a little smoother?

Smoother Animation
I got an animation in one fla. file that plays very smooth (30fps). Now I need to use only some of that animation in another/larger file (30fps). So I copied and pasted half of the smooth animation into the new/larger file, but now it doesn't play smoothly. Is this a cpu problem? Why doesn't play smooth in the other file?

Smoother Swfs....please Help
Hi,
I'm optimising a few swfs at the moment and was wondering something. Say you've got a series of graphics as frames for an animation. The first time it runs it is sometimes jerky, and then the next time it's really smooth. Is there a way to have it so it's smooth from the get go, maybe run it in the background when it loads??

Smoother-looking Animation
Is there some way I can make this look smoother? All I did was a very basic movement - 2 keyframes, the image starting at the top and ending at the bottom, and a motion tween. but it looks a bit jittery. And I don't want to make it any faster than this. Is this just a limitation of the software, or is there something I can do to make it look better?

a few days back i posted a thread requesting , how one could do the main flash animation at www.melroze.com on their homepage.
though i could achieve the partial effect there, i am not able to get the smooth movement on their homepage in my flash animation. the movement in my flash animation seems very abrupt and well not smooth as theirs. ( i suspect they have written some actionscript.)

Their Has To Be A Smoother And Easier Way For This Menu
Can one of you check out the attached file? Let me know if their is an easier way to do what I am trying to do. I would also like the submenu to start off of the page until the user does a mouseover one of the menu items. Can you help with this as well? Animation Needed To Be Smoother
I spend hours making my animation smooth and I think I might be doing it the long wrong way. Let's say I have three pictures coming in and out. I take each picture and bring into the library. I create a movie clip and start with frame one to 30 and put the first picture there. I then create motion and have it start Dark to light on frame 1 to 5, then on frame 20 I fade to dark.
The next layer on top is the second picture and while the first is getting darker I use the alpha to bring this in . Then I fade it out after 29 frames etc..
You can see I use the timeline to do all this. My question, am I doing this all wrong? I notice others have really smooth transitions and wondering if they are using some other method. If so do you have detailed instructions.

I have written a code which affects an image due to the position of the cursor.
It is working fine and has the effect I originally designed. However, after looking at it time and time again I now which to make me movement slower and smoother.

Smoother Actionscript Rotation
I have a menu that looks like a ring and i'm using the actionscript
OnClipEvent (enterFrame) {
this._rotation += .5
}
to make it rotate, but the rotation isn't very steady and the menu titles seem jittery with the movement. Is there a way to make smoother actionscript movement?

[F8] Smoother Bitmap Tracing?
I always get pixelated lines, i want really smooth curves but i cannot get them.

Hey Guys.
How is everyone? I'm looking for some advice, and tips to make a site up working on run better. The site is for a friends band, the site on it's own is around 2-3 meg, not to bad for loading. But I have also built a 3 track music player, which knocks the file size right up. I think the best way to load the site, would be to have the site load, then after start loading the music player, so users can view the site without having to wait for the music. I got the idea, I just need to the know how, on how to get flash to do it. Any tips or advice anyone can give me, will be ace.

Smoother Text Movement
Hi everybody,
I have a small question. I made a site sometime ago - Sookerating. If you visit the site you will small phrases of text scrolling about on the top of the page. The entire sequence runs on AS. You will also notice that the text movement is choppy. Is there a way I could achieve the same effect...only in much smoother way. I thing the text is not anti-aliased too which is giving the letters a crude effect.
Any suggestions anyone?
