Target A Specific Frame In And Instance Using Tell Target
is it possible to target a specific frame in and instance using tell target? I can get the effect i want by using goto frame, however i want to use this mc or .swf in a movie, and i don't want goto frame to affect the whole movie, just the mc.
Text Links To Target A Specific Frame
Hi
I was wondering if this was possible and how to do it if it is.
What i have is a swf movie embedded into the left frame of a html page. Within the flash movie r some hypertext links and i was wondering if it was possible to target those links to the centre frame of the frame set?
I know how to do this with normal html links but i cant figure out if its possible with links inside a flash movie.
Any help would be appreciated.

Get URL - Target Specific Frame Label Or Scene?
I have two Flash movies, both embedded in HTML pages. I'd like to be able to click on a button in one movie, and go straight to a specific frame label or scene in the second - can this be done, or should I be using Load Movie?
I'd be happy if I can avoid using the latter as I'll get bogged down in levels, and I've got a rather complicated structure.
Many thanks as always...
The Ultimate Challenge Flash Button Needs To Target New Html And Specific Swf Frame
please see http://stellarDJservices.the317life.com
If you click on rates, it brings you to a split frame html set. the new menu up top currently just sends the user back to the index.html that embeds the flash file stellar3.swf which all the other links are part of.
How can each button of my rates menu target the correct html then target the correct frame (which have frame labels main, pics, services, & contact in quotes) of that swf? Making sure it all happens in the "_parent" frame of html. Been searching the forums and still need help. Shouldn't be too difficult right?
THANKS!
LoadMovie And Specific Frame
hello
i know very basic actionscripting, and i have 0 programming skills (i use flash more for the animation aspect as i am a designer). it's been a long ride with this question, and i've searched everywhere for the answer including macromedia's support section, actionscript dictionary, and macromedia's own flash forum.
here is my quandry:
i have a slide show of 24 images which was started by my predecessor. the images (PNGs) were poorly optimized (if at all) and the final swf file is over 400K. i added a loader in the meantime since it is up on the company's website but it is still obviously a long wait on a 28 or 56K modem.
it was then suggested that i cut the file up into maybe 3-4 segments, and use the loadMovie command to load each successive movie into the swf. i experimented with just flat out loading the movie (all into level0) and it worked fine *except* (and herein lies the MAJOR problem) when the user clicks backwards through the loaded movies, file3 links to file2 but it goes to frame 1 of file2. it would be really nice if, when going backwards, file3(frame 1) went back to file2(frame 8).
i've gotten everything from"you need variables or maybe cookies" (which was described as "very complex") to several scripts typed out for me that just didn't seem to work. it was also mentioned that i would need to preload the segments because you can't jump to a frame which hasn't loaded yet (which makes a lot of sense) - but from an aesthetic point of view i'd like to keep the slideshow seamless, and not have a loading clip in between images. is there any advice/links/scripts/etc that you knowledgeable people could point me to? i would be forever in your debt.
thanking you very much in advance,
idarii
LoadMovie Into Specific Frame
anyone have any ideas on how to do a loadMovie (into an empty MC) and have it go immediately to a specific frame in that movie's timeline?
thanks, pdh
LoadMovie To A Specific Frame
I am sure that this has been asked a bunch of times before.
But how do you load a movie and have it go to a specific frame number or label in the timeline.
Loadmovie On Specific Frame
Once you extract my little zip file, open up the fla files so you can see what I'm talking about.
Basically, when you click on the button for "page 2" I would like the movie "top.swf" to load in the "barup" frame, and the "content.swf" to go to the "cubes" frame. That's all.
Any help would be appreciated!
Help Please LoadMovie Swf In Mc To Specific Frame
I'm desperate! I've read all the forums, searched the web and scanned through all of my books. But I can't seem to fix this problem.
I'd REALLY appreciate any help that anyone can give me. And I hope my explanation isn't too complicated (I'm not great at this stuff).
In Flash MX, I have a movie clip called fpo_mc, in my Index.fla file.
fpo_mc is the blank movie clip that my external ourpeople.swf file loads into.
I have two buttons in my index.fla file. One is called "our Promise" and the other is "Our People".
The Actionscript code for the "Our Promise" button works fine. It sends the playhead to a frame labled "bios", and then loads the ourpeople.swf in on its first frame (where it needs to be).
But the "Our People" button ALSO loads the ourpeople.swf on the first frame.
It's supposed to load it and go to the 16th frame (labled "bio1").
I've tried various codes, but nothing seems to work.
I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.
Here are a few codes that I've tried:
on (release) {
_root.gotoAndPlay("bios");
_root.fpo_mc.loadMovie("ourpeople.swf");
_root.fpo_mc.gotoAndPlay("bio1");
}
on (release) {
_root.gotoAndPlay("bios");
loadMovieNum("", 1);
_root.fpo_mc.loadMovie("ourpeople.swf", 1);
_level1.fpo_mc.gotoAndPlay("16");
}
on (release) {
_root.gotoAndPlay("bios");
loadMovieNum("", 1);
_root.fpo_mc.loadMovie("ourpeople.swf");
_root.fpo_mc.gotoAndPlay("16");
}
I'm an actionscript dummy, btw.
Thanks in advance.

Loadmovie On A Specific Frame?
Hi there
I have a .loadmovie function on an swf. Let's call it main.swf.
On main.swf there is a "loader movie clip" called "contents" that loads other swf's. I'm just wondering if it's possible to modify the code below to load the new movie on a specific frame... Say frame 5?
Code:
on (release) {
contents.loadMovie("new.swf");
}
Thanks
LoadMovie And Go To Specific Frame
Need some help on loading a movie.
I want to load an external swf (which I can do), but just need to loadMovie (let say on _level2) and go to a specific frame (name) other than starting in beginning of movie.
(I have multiple btns and depending on what btn they click, it'll go to a specific frame of the loaded movie). This is what I have so far...
on (release){
loadMovie ("name.swf", 2);
}

LoadMovie To A Specific Frame
Hello.
Well, as a newbie, a tried and tried but don't seem to be able to get a movie to load into a specific MC and start playing from a specific frame there -- it always goes to the first..
Is there a way to loadMovie() without playing it and then use gotoAndPlay()?
Perhaps things are complicated by the fact that my first frame has a stop(); and I need to play the last?
Here is my "code" -- I'm attaching it to a back button in the main movie:
on (release) {
loadMovie("slide"+slide+".swf", "slide1");
activity=slide1.slide1_actual._totalframes;
slide1.slide1_actual.gotoAndPlay(activity);
}
THANKS for your input...

My bad, I think I might've posted this in the wrong section. Forgive me.
LoadMovie To A Specific Frame
Is there a way to load a movie and have the new loaded movie start on a specific frame?
For example: I have a movie clip, this movie clip has rollOvers and rollOuts (it's a part of my navigation), when I click on it, I want to loadMovieNum (or loadMovie) and have the new loaded movie to start on frame 65.
Is there a way to do this?
Thanks for any help.
LoadMovie To Specific Frame Problem
I'm using FLASH MX. I'm trying to load a series of movies for a
site and am not able to retrieve a particular frame going
back to a previously loaded movie.
First Movie is my Placeholder of Blank MovieClip
On Frame 1 on that movie it loads the first movie (A).
Then a button on that movie loads the second movie (B). Then a button on that movie loads the third movie (C). All works fine until I
decided I want to return to a previous movie and a particular frame on
that movie. For example C to B Frame 12.
On the Back button on Movie 3 is theAction script:
on (release) {
unloadMovieNum(1);
loadMovieNum("MovieC.swf", 1);
level1.gotoAndStop(12);
}
It loads the first frame of Movie B. What am I doing wrong? Any ideas or help would be immensely appreciated.
Loadmovie At Specific Frame Number
Can you load a movie and tell it to play from specific frame number?
Right now, I have...
loadMovieNum ("loop.swf", 0);
Thank you in advance!
Loadmovie & GotoAndPlay Specific Frame -help
Here's a new spin on an old problem:
I am trying to load an external SWF and play from a certain frame: So far i have tried this
on (release) {
loadMovieNum ("header.swf", 0);
_level0.gotoAndPlay(3);
}
but obviously i can't place the loadmovie and gotoAndPlay in the same actionscript ---any suggestions?
Sadly i cannot make the external an MC OR use a blank frame 1 in the external SWF's timeline... into my third hour of frustration,
Matt.
LoadMovie & Goto Specific Frame - Help
Hi,
Is it possible using the loadMovie command, when loading a movie into a movie, to specify where in that movie to goto and stop?
for example, I have 5 buttons within my main movie, all load the same movie when click, however, i need the movie to goto a specified frame depending on which button was click... make sense,?
ie if button 1 is click the movie is loaded in and goes to frame 12,
button 3 is clicked and the movie is loaded and goes to frame 20, etc...
cheers for any info or help...
LoadMovie/UnloadMovie At Specific Frame
Hi All,
My site contains a "beta.swf" that has an action to unload itself and load "alpha.swf". My question is how do I set the actionscript in "beta.swf" to load frame 90 of Scene1 of "alpha.swf" considering this swf contains (2) scenes (preloader + scene1)?
My first atempt using code
Code:
loadMovie("alpha.swf", "_root.target");
played the preloader then played the entire movie before reaching movieclip instance "target". I need it to go directly to directly to "target".
This code doesn't work either, yet it should
Code:
loadMovie("alpha.swf", 90);
Any help would be great, thanx.
LoadMovie And Start On A Specific Frame
I am trying to load detail.swf and start on frame 6.
It will load but only start on frame1.
createEmptyMovieClip("container",4);
loadMovie("detail.swf", "container");
tellTarget ("_level4"){gotoAndPlay(6);
}
container._x = 0 ;
container._y = 0 ;
HELP: LoadMovie To A Specific Scene And Frame
i'm trying to use the loadMovie script to load another swf but to a specific scene and frame.
without the loadMovie script, it would be: gotoAndPlay ("scene", frame)
but logically, with the loadMovie script, it would be:
loadMovie ("file.swf", _root.gotoAndPlay("scene", frame))
but, that is not working. i was thinking it was because of the double parenthesis but i didn't know how to fix it since "[ ]" are used for something else.
anyone know how to fix or do this? thx for your help ppl
LoadMovie-Loading To Specific Frame?
I am desperatly new to all of this, so try not to laugh too hard. I am sure when I get an answer I will feel even more foolish than I do posting the question, but here goes.
I have a page with an empty movie clip that is my target for loading many other external swf files. As recomended elswhere in the newbie forum I am doing this in place of one big swf file with many scenes.
My question is: is there an action script that will load a swf file and immediatly play from a specific frame.
For example my main nav page has an intro that I would like to skip when someone returns there from a subsequent page. I also have a demo reel with 3 tv spots on it and I would like to present people with the option of going to a specific tv spot.
I have tried:
on (release) {_root.MyMovieHolder.loadMovie("MyMovie.swf","MyScene","MyFrame");
}
and other variations, but the loaded movie always plays from frame one.
I have done a bit of searching through the forums and tuts with no result. I can only assume it is too simple a question.
Any help would be appreciated.

Loadmovie Targeting Specific Label/frame
Hi,
I am trying to do the following:
I have a main.swf which I am loading a clip into "content.swf" - i want to load it and send it to a specific label on the "content.swf" timeline... Sending the unloaded clip a command (I am fine with preloaders and loadmovie commands)
eg Load movie "content.swf" into "main.swf" telling it to open at say a label "section_3"
Help much appreciated if this is possible
Using LoadMovie, How Can I Point To A Specific Frame Number?
I have a simple question. I want to load a specific frame from an external swf file, so that it doesn't start on the 1st frame by default. Any ideas of how to do this? I know about tell target, but it's not offered with Flash MX, and I assume with MX there is an easy solution to my problem. But it would be great to have some help!!!!!!!!!!!! Thx
Taking The User To A Specific Frame In LoadMovie
I have an HTML page (lets call it PAGE 1) with an embedded SWF. Inside this embedded SWF are several frames, labeled with Stop actions as well.
In another HTML page, I have another embedded SWF with multiple buttons. Is it possible to have one of these buttons open the other HTML page (PAGE 1) AND go to one of the specific frames in the original SWF embedded in that page?
Thanks

[FMX2K4Pro] LoadMovie To Specific Frame Label
Okay, I know. This topic has been addressed several times in various posts. And I've read and tried all of them, however nothing seems to work. I'm not sure if due to the circumstances...I'll explain.
I have made 2 files: main.swf and products.swf. A button in main.swf has the following code:
on (release){
_root.loadMovie("products.swf");
}
This works great, but what I really want to do is go to frame label "Range" in products.swf. A note of explanation: I'm not trying to load products.swf into a container movieclip, I want to replace main.swf with products.swf and go to Range label.
Phew. I guess those are my circumstances and I'm sorry if this is repetitive. Anyway, any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Loadmovie - Target Frame In Nested MC?
Hi-
I don't have a lot of experience with actionscript beyond the abosolute basics, when I use the loadmovie command, can I target a specific frame in a nested movieclip within the swf to be loaded?
If so, could someone be so kind as to show how to write the script?
Thanks!
LoadMovie Target Frame Label?AGH
I'm losing my mind! I've tried so many different things I can't remember my own name anymore.
I have a swf with content that can be updated by my client, using forms and PHP with a TXT file that stores the contents that has been updated. The swf file has 4 labels - add, sending, loading, and view.
The "view" label is the frame I want to target with loadMovie button, but it's not working! It loads the movie at frame 1 (which is supposed to have a password and enter button for the client).
I've been spinning my wheels for 6 or 7 hours now and can't figure this thing out.
I'm loading the external swf into an empty mc in the main movie (from an externally loaded navigation). Not using levels with this.
Using FlashMX so want to stay away from tellTarget. Any idea what I'm missing with this one?
Any help would be excellent!
