How to use "loadmovie" to load .gif files ???? Or any other command can load gif file with my page?
As over 100 pictures need to load and import all in libary will cause a huge file.
I use gif becuase it can transparent. Or any tools can make jpg display transparent ???

Can't Load Png Files Through Loadmovie?
Ok i am currently using flash mx and when i use the loadmovie function to load images any image which is in jpeg format (*.jpg) loads with out any problems
however when i try to load png images (*.png) or gif (*.gif)
nothing shows up..
so i was wondering if anyone has any advice to resolve this..

Can I Load Movieclips From A Textfile? Or Load Other Text Files?
i am pulling in variables from a text file like so:

now... my question is... is it possible to load another movie clip from that textfile???
i have a bunch of news headlines that are from a text file, and i want them to link and load another movie clip on another section of my page... i have figured out how to link URL's but i cannot get it to link a movieclip, or, another textfile...
i want the movieclip to load into a already running swf file... is it possible for flash to do this?

Load Movie in MX allows you to load .jpg files dynamically.
In test mode the output window will show you an error if the
file cannot be found.
Is there any way determine if there is a file error when not in
test mode? Is there something equivalent to the LoadVar if (success)?

Loadmovie And Swf Files
In my root fla there is an empty mc into which i load external swf files when a button is clicked.
However, when i test my movie, the swf loads in but has no functionality e.g. the loaded swf has a dropdown list in it or to be more precise a ComboBox component and this no longer works in the root swf movie. What am i doing wrong - i understood that providing the swf works in its own right then it should still work correctly when part of a larger movie.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

here is my issue...
i have 2 domains friend and mine.
i made a swf with empties in it to load other swf's which then load txt files in dynamic text boxes.
here is the problem.
when together on the same server/host they work.
when i have one swf on my server it loads and then loads the txt file.
but when i want to load a swf from another domain with it's txt file it doesn't.
it doesn't even load the txt file or anything.
what's up with that?

LoadMovie() And .png Files
PNG files aren't showing in my movie, I have a dynamic image viewer that loads in images from the Database, works with Jpgs but the PNGs aren't showing at all...the Flash manual sais png files should be fine, but it's not working.
Any help or advice?

The LoadMovie Command With JPG Files (PLEASE HELP)
I am currently using the loadMovie to load JPG files into one of my movies, when these JPG's are loaded they appear in the bottom right hand corner of the movie.
I can correct this by making seperate SWF files with the JPG's inside them and using the align option to alight the top-right corned of the JPG's to 0,0.
Is there any way to do this with just the JPG files rather than making them into .swf files

Linking Between Swf Files - Should I LoadMovie Or Other?
I'm trying to link 5 swf files to run one after the other (trade show presenations). I thought loadMovie was the answer, but now am thinking maybe there is an easier way to ActionScript it to play movie "b" at the end of movie "a" and so on.
The manual says loadMovie could be used for "playing a sequence of SWF banner ads by placing a loadMovie action at the end of each SWF file to load the next movie", and this is essentially what i want to do, however my SWF files are upwards of 2MB.
Is there an easier, more efficient way to do this other than loadMovie or is the manual right. =)

Loadmovie Loading Various SWF Files
I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to stop a movie from loading once it has started. I have a catalog type situation going and each section is a diffrent swf file the files are getting quite massive and was wondering if there is a way to stop what it is loading so if the person would rather load something else first it can be done.

Loading JPG Files Using LoadMovie()
Here's the deal - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. WHY???
I have tried to load a number of different JPGs into movieCLips at runtime using this.loadMovie("picName.jpg"), and sometimes it works, and sometimes it seems as if it doesn't. Here's the weird part - upon checking the filesize of the movieClip, the pic HAS actually imported. It just won't show. Trace statements also reveal Alpha is 100%, visible is true, but height and width are 0.
Is there something wrong with the JPG files themselves, and if so, how do I fix it? Resaving them in Photoshop doesn't work. Renaming the files doesn't work.
Does anyone know what will?!
LoadMovie And Projector Files
Does loadmovie work with the Projector (exe) file output. I seems to work fine on my computer but when I burn it to a CD and pass it on to others the button with the loadMovie link doesn't work.

External Jpg Files/loadMovie
HELP!! please...I've made 2 sites that don't work and I want to embark on a site for a photographer, so wanted the pics to load as you view....rather than a hefty wait at the beginning...
I have used a frame as a movie clip and given it an instance name..eg 'loadPic'..then put the action on the timeline or on hotspots - depending on site....
loadMovie("Images/Pic01.jpg", "_root/loadPic");
pics are from 10k - 25k (again depending on site)........works fine on IE 5.5 mac & pc on broadband, but not on older computers....
What's the problem? Flash plugins/browser/modem?
I thought this script has been available since flash 5, so most people would have the plug-in. Is this not the case?

how can one with loadmovie (or another command) load local (on the users harddisk) files into an already loaded flashmovie within the browser? say i have a simple movie with a button:

LoadMovie-Combining Two Files
I am working in MX 2004. I have two separate swf files that I need to merge together and export as a projector file to burn to CD. I can get the first movie in place or I can get the second movie in place over the first, but I'm not sure how to script it so that the second swf file will play right after the first swf file.
I'm at a crunch time on this project any help would be gratly appreciated.
Also, i'm not really a programmer, so my Actionscript skills are very weak.

is it better to make a projector file of the main movie and and have the sections be loaded .swfs? or should i include them as _mcs.....inside the projector file?
optimizing content..... since the cd roms desination will probably be for getting jobs at design agencies, Should I minimize AE intros...etc? Everything looks great on my machine but I got a 3 ghz processor..
I dont wanna assume a perspective agency would have the same, but they might. Since its a projector file...probably running from their cd rom.....I wonder if it will slow the the folio down with kinda intense AE stuff.
I ran it on my bosses machine (not a design agency) hes about a 900mhz machine and it looked "just Ok" so Im kinda worried about my cdrom folio going "flop" from the get go to potential employers..

[F8] Can LoadMovie Open .avi & .swf Files In A New Window?
I am using Flash Professional 8 to make a kinda menu for four other files I've made. Two are .swf and two are .avi files. I've made buttons which I want to use to open these files in a new window. I'm new to actionscript though and I'm completely lost, please help!
Edit: D'oh! I only just realised that getURL had been working, I can't believe how long I've been trying to figure this out when it was so simple. Also I have no idea how to delete this thread now I've figured it out, sorry for my newbish-ness.
Help Needed With Sound Files And Loadmovie
I have a small flash file with an mp3 in the library with a linkage name. I
then have a small bit of code as below
CONTENT_SOUND=new Sound();
CONTENT_SOUND.attachSound("m_d_1_01");
CONTENT_SOUND.start();
which plays the sound fine.
I then publish this swf. I then want to load it into a container swf.
In the container swf i have a button with the code
on(release){
mCONTENT.loadMovie("m_d_1_01.swf");
}
mCONTENT is a movie clip in the container movie.
The sound does not play when loaded into the container movie. Can anyone
please helpthis is really urgent.

Executable Files With A LoadMovie/onLoad
I tried posting this before on this thread here. But I got no responses. So let me try to explain the problem further, hopefully, someone has run into this problem before.
I am trying to load a jpg into a movie clip, so it can be a thumbnail for a photoalbum. I do not want the images to be in the fla file because it will be too big. So I am using loadMovie to load the jpg files into my project. I also know I need an onLoad event action to then call onRelease statements to the movie clip once that jpg has been loaded. Now if I test my movie in simulate download mode, the project loads fine, my onLoad reacts and I can get my button action called. But if I just hit control enter or publish to an exe file, the button action never gets called, it is like Flash is ignoring the onLoad statement, wouldn't it still try to access this code in some way, my code is on the link above if you need to see it. LoadMovie And Importing Text Files As Variables
I have my main timeline that we'll call "mother" and I have a movie (other swf) that is loaded into "mother" using loadMovie that we'll call "daughter". Simple? (By the way "daughter" is in a movie clip in "mother" with an instance name if that helps.)
"Daughter" is loaded into "mother" when a button is clicked. In "daughter" there is a vector graphic and a dynamic text field with a variable to load a text file.
When I open the "daughter" movie by itself in the standalone player, the vector and the dynamic text field (with the text file variables inside) are visible. When I play my "mother" movie and the "daughter" clip is loaded, it loads, the vector graphic shows, the dynamic text field is there (selectable) but the variables are not loaded into it.
I think this has to do with tageting but I'm not very good at that. Can someone you there PLEASE help me!?

LoadMovie Removes Files In Main Stage ?

I am loading an external SWF file into my main stage using a button action, and specifying the instance that it should replace ("this_mc"), but when it goes to that frame ("this_frame") all the other images on that frame disappear.
Any ideas?
on (release) {
gotoandStop ("this_frame");
loadMovie ("thing.swf", _root.this_mc);
}
P.S. the frame does not have a stop(); action on it, as I have found that this causes problems.

Loadmovie Using Multiple Jpg Files Works On Hd But Not Online
I am new to actionscripts and I am quite sure I am overlooking the obvious but here goes:
I have created a flash file to load external jpgs using the loadmovie command. Works fine on my computer but not when I upload it. So, I know I am screwing up the path but I don't know how. The jpgs are in a subdirectory called "image/" The movie runs but it does not load the jpgs.
On keyframe one I have the following actionscript:
url='image/' + wimg + '.JPG'
On keyframe two I have:
loadMovie (url, "bitmap");
I would like to use an absolute url....so assuming my url is www.website.com how would I get the script to access the jpgs that are located in the subdirectory /image ?

Loadmovie Works Local, But Not When Files Are Uploaded On Server
Subject says it all really... I build an interface in which I load multiple other swf's, works fine, but (since today? ) when I upload all my files to my hosting, and open the interface there, the other swf's won't load.
Any ideas? Ways to figure this one out? tnx in advance - a long time no flash but back in the game newbie

Can a pre-loader be used when waiting for an external .swf to load from a button or frame action through the loadMovie command? As they seem to all have to be in the same frame I don't see hoiw it can be done?

I have this movie called MAIN.swf and then I try to load another movie into that one,, lets call that one welcome.swf
on the first fram in welcome I have this:

Using LoadMovie To Load In Jpg's
hey guys,
i'm stuck with adding new features to some old code for a client.
when the jpg's are loaded into the movie, the onClipEvent(data) are satisfied and it goes the next frame:code: loadMovie(_root.whatQuestion, _root.question_mc);
loadMovie(_root.whatAnswer, _root.answer_mc);
so the jpg's are loaded into question_mc, and answer_mc. now the client wants the jpg's all to be the same size and have white backgrounds!! (the jpg's being loaded in are all completely different shapes & sizes). i tried putting a white background in the question_mc, but when you load something into movieClip it erases anything in there. i'm stuck.
question is: how can i put a white background into a movieClip, and then load a jpeg on top of it??
if you have any idea please let me know

Hi I now this shouldn´t be hard but it won´t work properly for mie (n00b).
I´m trying to load a external jpg into a MC calld holder. In the first frame I use following code

loadMovie("test.jpg", holder);
Now the pic loads just fine but the rest of the layout dissapears? I´ve tried to load it in a diffrent level but then I can´t use Target in the code ( or can I?).
Please give me an hand with this...

Using Loadmovie: Load Swf In Swf In Another Swf
Greetings all, I'm having a problem with the loadMovie function. I have an .swf that loads 10 other .swf's in it. All together this is one page that shows 10 different models of seats and everything works. Now i want to load this, let's call it "seatpicker" to load when i click in the main site on a button called models. The code i used on the button is:

i made a movieclip with the instance name load_mc and the seatpicker is called index.
When i run the main site and i click on the models button, it doesn't work... Has this something to do with my referral to _root or something? Perhaps its confused with the _root of the other .swfs? Anybody any idea of how to solve this problem? Thanks you all for your replys!
LoadMovie Function Does Not Always Load
Hi, I've set up an array with flash file names in it, and a button to load the flash file using .loadMovie to an instance of movie clip on stage. The problem is that the button doesn't always load the flash into the instance correctly and, when it doesn't it destroy the old movie and went blank onthe instance. No more flash can be load on the instance after that. This usually happen when I click on the "Next" or "Previous" button to quickly. Will adding a pre-loader in the instance be the way to avoid it? Anybody

[help]: Using LoadMovie To Load *.jpg Image
I am trying to load some jpg files on my flash, but some how the size doesn't come out right. I have no clue what's going on..
In simple terms:
----------------
1. First I created a box with Name "square", scale 50%
2. I use Actionscript to load the image to the box:
loadMovie("http://blah.blah.com/image/"+ImageFile, "square");
3. I also create a "next" button that change the variable "ImageFile" to point to another image.
The problem is:
---------------
- All images are same size 640x480.
- When they load to the square they should all be scaled to 50%, since the box has been scaled.
- But some of the picture, when displayed, did not scaled to 50%. So it appeared "outside the box".
- I have triple-checked the sizes for the .jpg files.
- I have also tested it locally and it works (i.e. instead of using http://.., i used local directory)
Question:

1. Is it because when loading picture from URL, it's better to pre-load? or else it won't show up right?
2. Or is there something wrong with my way of using loadMovie?

Trying To Use Loadmovie To Load Swf's And Then Fade Out
So I have a bunch of SWF files I created in Wildform swfx and I want to string them all together. They are all text effects. My questions are...
1) How do I load the first text .swf and then fade it out to make room for the next .swf text effect to load?
2) How do I load and unload movies?
3) How do I loop a sound underneath everything that is going on?

LoadMovie: Swf's Load Slowly?
Right now I'm loading external swf's using the loadMovie command and it works fine. The only problem is the "lagtime" in loading the movie. Should I load these into the main movie off the stage so that they are already loaded? If I do this they already start to play so it doesn't seem like the right answer to preload these swf's. What is the best way to load swf's without that pause time? Thanks

Hi,
I have a movie, which will have about 50 buttons in it each, each to load an image into a space on the stage.
Do i have to make each image (photograph) into an independent movie (swf) to use the load movie action into a placeholder, or can i load movieclips within the movie into a named placeholder.
All my inages are diferent sizes, although all will fit on the stage. Can a named placeholder load movies/movieclips or even images of different sizes into it?
I will be extremely grateful for any advice or input.

Another Way To Load Pictures Other Than LoadMovie?
I am using LoadMovie to load pictures like this:

My intent is to create the illusion that the same image is just changing slightly, but it take a split second to load, causing it to flash, which breaks the illusion.
Is there a more efficient way to do this?

LoadMovie Into MC? Load From Txt File?
Hi there. I need some help. I'm trying to accomplish a very distinct feat of Flashery.
1) I want a Movie Clip to load a JPG from a URL. (Sounds easy, right?)
I'm not new to Flash but it's been a while. I'm using Flash MX and the tutorial that I've looked up isn't working. I've created a movie clip. I've placed it on the stage. I've named the instance. I've done Actions --> Objects --> Movies --> MovieClips --> LoadMovie and then pointed to the URL. Doesn't work.
Any suggestions? Do I need to target the instance of the MC? (The instance is named jpg1, if that helps.) Ultimately, there will be a dozen or so of these MCs on the stage, all calling images from the server.

If LoadMovie Then Load Movie
I am building a flash game. The user has to get five "parts" correct before they win the game.
Right now every time a "round" is answered correctly a loadMovie comes up on a new level in flash.
When the user is done completing all 6 rounds (they can complete them in any order) all the seperate .swfs are loaded and working great.
**The problem is I need to tell the user they have won the game.
So Im trying to put a command in that says "if all the movies are loaded, then load the "youwon.swf"
Here is the code I tried (i know it is wrong...im new to this sorry!):

LoadMovie = Load Out Of The Subfolder
This is probably really obvious, but I'm a bit stuck. I've got a menu which opens a file in a folder:
loadMovie(A_folder/A_game.swf);
Problem is at the end of the A_game.swf I want a button to navigate back to the Menu, which is outside of the current folder. How do I go about navigating backwards?
eg; loadMovie(_parent/Menu.swf); crude example just for demonstration purposes. I understand this is more of a directory language question than an AS question.

Load Order With LoadMovie()?
I'm working on a application that needs to load in a bunch of SWFs and play them in order.
The obvious solution is a bunch of loadMovie() calls. Pretty straight forward. My question is whether or not there's any way to influence the order that they're loaded. Will they automatically load in the order that you make the loadMovie() calls? (is this a consistant behavior)
The only reference to load order I can find is the Load order in the publish preferences. Does anyone know if that applies to dynamic loading? I could easily load them into specific depths.
If anyone has any experience with this please let me know. I'm sure some experimentation could yeild some answers, but I'm on a tight deadline and was hoping someone might have already tried to do the same sort of thing.
