How Do I Recreate This Effect?
I want to be able to recreate the effect on this page where the letters are swirling around like they are in a small tornado. Is there a tutorial or effect online that I can look at to recreate this? How do they get the letters to look bigger when they are close? Is this on a path?

How To Recreate This Effect
I'm building a site using NetObjects Fusion 8. One of their templates (photography) incluses a sample Flash movie. The effect is that of a lens apeture opening and closing to change pictures.

How To Recreate A Clever Effect...
Some days ago I came across a site that uses a menu very similar to the one I had in mind for my own site. The only problem is that my current knowledge of Flash MX is pretty basic- I hope that maybe some of you guys could explain me how to create something like this.

I wasn´t able to find out how to add smooth borders to shapes- do I have to import those from freehand? I think Flash3 had some kind of smooth effect but I couldn´t find it in MX.

How Can I Recreate This Effect From GOTHIKA

there are three thumbnails, two with halle berry. When you roll over them, the image brightens a bit and the highlights flare out. It's a nice effect and I've been trying to recreate it, but I can't. How did they do this?

I dissected the flash file and noticed that they only used the one image. In other words, they didn't have an image of halle berry, and then another one of her brighter.

The other thing is that, if you try to 'brighten' the symbol in flash, it just makes the whole thing whiter, which isn't the desired effect. How can I recreate this effect from the gothika site?

What is the secret?

Image Transition Masking - Recreate Existing Effect
I'm trying to get some masking practice in, so I decided to find an effect that I like and try to recreate it. Here is the welcome.swf file, which is the effect I'm trying to duplicate. (Skip the intro and you'll see the image transition on the 'welcome' screen.)

Attached is my fla so far. It's kinda close, but theirs is just so much nicer! And I'm sure I'm taking too many unnecessary steps!! There's gotta be a quicker/easier way to do this...

I also don't really know where to go from here. What's the best way to add my 2nd and 3rd picture? Just have them tacked on to the end of the timeline back to back? Or have them in separate mc's and play them with AS? And how would I mask them over my first picture?

I have created horizontal scroll menus in flash.
On press of the right arrow i am changing the _x of the movie clip so that the movie clip scrolls to the right side and vice a versa.

ps i've seen a couple on the flashkit site but the images are blocks of text which you change with actionscripting, not quiet what I want. I want the images to be rollovers that jump somewhere else in the movie.

Need To Recreate Two Efx Here
If you go to the url below after the signature and preloader you will see photos changing. There is a button on the bottom left. When pressed it changes the background color and the text. I tried to figure this out using a movie clip but I cannot find how to change the background so I'm thinking there is a layer that actually changes. Now the text part is really tricky and I need to recreate these two parts.

After messing around a little I see this can probably be done with "add event" by drawing a black rectangle the size of the stage and the button release will make the black rectangle show on stage

Two questions here, how can I do this to make the button control the background and the text color change like in the url?

I'm sure this can be done in AS2

Scrolling Background Effect.....
I would like to re-produce the effect done on MANY sites
http://inko.netfirms.com for one example. Where you click on a button....and the background scrolls a certain amount to X position..whatever... I have found a .fla that I like....but when I look at it..the only actions/code I seen in the whole thing is...

Or somethign close on EVERY BUTTON...that cant be all of it..where is the rest of the code...and can someone help to break this down a little better for me to understand? I'm not that bad..and I catch on quick....I know I must be missing something. I would just like a quick walk through.

1. Make a graphic the length of all the screen backgrounds I need ...right? (ie: 5 backgrounds..all one picture...)

2.buttons (code part need help with) to scroll the background to X position "XXXX' right?..how would you have information appear at the same time as background scrolls???
(have the same button load an external .swf to stage...as well as scroll bg??

Obviously...a mask of osme sort for background.

I guess I just need a tut...or a walk through...cause all the tuts I have read.(on many forums) have done nothing for me.....There has to be more code than just:

Ok...I know exactly how to create a scrolling box (like a ticker) but how do i get text to scroll..with a scroll bar...I can create each object and know what it looks like...but don't know how to get the effect...Thanks

Scrolling Text (for Effect)
OK, here's what I'm trying to do - create a small window
of scrolling text - frame activated (not user controlled),
simply for effect. I’ve tried creating a 2 framed clip, the first frame of the first layer (or text layer) contains a dynamic text field (Multiline and Word Wrap selected) which I have given a variable name of “scrollingtext”. I then create a layer to contain my actions.
The first frame of which contains the script

scrollingtext.scroll--;

The second frame contains the script

gotoAndPlay (1);

to loop back and re-implement frame 1’s script

When I place enough text to scroll in the dynamic text box
and then test the movie the text remains static.

I know I’m missing something, can anyone help???

Also, how can I adjust the scrolling rate in this same
situation.

Ok, so here's my doubt...

What I have in mind is something like you can see, for instance, on http://www.alanismorissette.com . On the 'main part' (you can skip the preview!), where you have all the links, etc... you see how you click on a link (over the big rectangle) and the content slides to the part you wanted to see? THAT!

Hehe, I'm sure there must be a reasonable explanation to how that's done (if it's not something so easy I'll scream when I see it)... but since I'm kinda new at this, I've been cracking my head up to find a way to do it... now that I got myself a headache, I came for help.

If anyone could pleeeeease shed some light here, I'd be forever thankful!! :) If a deep explanation isn't possible, at least some guidelines, like 'you'll need to create a movie clip and you'll tell the buttom to walk four blocks then turn left', because right now I have no idea of how that could be done!

I'm trying to create a similar navigation effect to the top:

a) how do they make the animation play backwards (the scrolling picture background): e.g. if you click 'buy' then you click 'news', how do you get it to scroll backwards?

b) if from 'home' you click contact, how do you get it to ignore all the 'stop' actions in between these options.

Probably some really simple stuff - not sure if there's a tutorial or something out there on how to do this, or if someone could create a simple .fla for me, would be WELL appreciated!!!
