I Only Want 1 Layer To Loop


I lie, I actually want 2 layers to loop while the remaining layer carry on. I read somewhere about converting them into a movie clip but have trouble with this also.

Any advice would be most appreciated.

Getting A Layer To Loop?
Hello All,

I am really new to actionscript, so bear with me here.

Ok, I have like 5 layers setup. On one layer (my background layer, I have frames setup so that it runs a nice little animation (on that layer only). The above layers are all stagnant. What I want to do is to be able to have the animated layer (my bkgrd layer) be set up on a loop, so that it is always moving at all times...all the other layers will remain the way they are.

So..what's the actionscript for this layer? Or is there another way to set it up not using actionscript? And what frame do I add the actionscript to?

Any hlp much appreciated..

Loop The Layer, Not The Movie?
hello,
i suppose this is a basic question but.. i dont know the answer so here goes:

i want to continually loop one layer of my movie while the others stop. and the movie itself reaches an end.

is there an easy way to do this with action script or whatever???

Multiple Layer Loop
I have been working on an animation project for a client's website and I have come across a very wierd situation I haven't sen before. I need to be able to loop 10 separate layers all at the same time, all starting from the same point several frames into the scene. They need to loop up until I work in a button to continue the animation, which should be a lot simpler. How do I get all of these layers to loop in unison?

How To Stop Loop In Only One Layer

Making One Layer Not Loop While Another Loops?

The guide animation (top layer) is supposed to loop (and it does). The 'IRA' layer I only want to play once, then stop. I have the objects option set to "Play Once", but obviously I don't know what I'm doing so it doesn't just play once.

Stopping A Loop On A Single Layer...
Hi,

I am fairly new to flash, but I am just having a bit of trouble getting something to work. I have tried, but to no avail. Basically I would like to stop the loop on one layer of animation, while the rest of the layers continue their loop for infinate times.

How Do I Make This Movie Clip A Loop In The Mask Layer
Hi, please show me how to make this movie clip a loop using actionscript in the mask layer. Sorry the attachment is not working so I can't attach the flash file.

Basically I have two layers for main timeline; the first layer is for background and the second layer is for mask. Inside the mask layer there are two layers.
I put 6 different images side by side inside the movie clip and the movie clip is masked. I used this actionscript for the movie clip. I get to see the image slides to the left. When it reaches to the 6th image, it cuts off but I want this continues as a loop. How do I achieve this?

Help With Loading Swf In To Layer 1 From Layer 0 And Nutrelizing Layer 0
I have my main movie- main.swf in level 0.
I need to load a movie - s1.swf to level one and disable level 0 - main.swf,
Then with a button click i need to goto main.swf - level o enable it & of course remove movie s1.swf.

Erasing The Top Layer With A Line To Show The Layer Beneath It
I was curious if anyone would be able to help me out. I have a layer that is a menu with some buttons. When a button is hit, I'd like to do this: A line from above the menu will go down the page, and as it goes down it apperas to erase the menu layer and show the layer beneath it. So as it goes down, what is beneath the line is still the menu page but above the line is the information (movie clip) that should be shown to that corresponding button. Any one have any ideas?

Creating A Delay/Pause, Frome Layer To Layer.
Hello,

I'v been having trouble with my newest project, i'm trying to create a pause from it going from 1 layer to the next without using frames.

If i use the frames my project just messes up, so im trying to create a pause of going from frame 1 to frame 2 to frame 3 up to 20.

Layering Problem: McText (layer 1) Over McText2 (layer 2)
Hi,

Quickie: Have 12 layers. Base layer has some text (mcWelcome) and a popup on layer
8 with some text plays over it. When I do a a href link to bring up the next mcTextfield combination
on top of the layer 8 the new layer goes under all other layers even though its on layer 10 (it has an arrow and a textfield).
In Design mode it is on top but when it plays it (layer 10 mc) plays under even the first layer.
What am I doing wrong? No matter where I drag the layer containing that new movie clip it goes underneath. Made
a new layer and it does the same thing adding text with ActionScript.
I've even done the "bring to front" and it has no effect. Why is the new mcText alway below the other layers?
Any ideas?

Control Audio In Layer 0 From Movie In Layer 2
I have a sound (mySound) playing from a movie in layer0 (default movie). this movie has loaded another movie into layer 2 using loadmovienum.

I want to stop the sound from playing while in the layer 2 movie. I have tried using _layer and _root but I can't reference the sound.

Can someone tell me how to reference the sound and either stop it or set the volume to 0 from within layer 2 if the sound object is in layer 0?

Can You Put A Guide Layer Inside A Masked Layer?
Here's the situation: I've got a flash animation in which one character is dreaming. I put a balloon over his head. I want to put a bicycle inside this balloon which comes into the balloon, circles around once and then exits the balloon. I've masked the ballloon so that the bike isn't seen before it enters the balloon, but now I want to put a guide layer above the bike layer so that the bike can circle around a bit before it exits.

I don't see any info on this in any of my Flash books. Is there any way to put a layer, with its guide layer above it, inside a masked layer?

Behavior In One Layer Automatically Carries On To Any Layer
I hate to be a pain, but I am really trying to learn a lot by following tutorials and this problem is reoccuring with every tut I try...

I am stuck on this (have redone it at least 17 times following verbatum but something isn't right):

Now come back to your bar layer, Push the rectangle to the left as shown below


Go to Frame 40, keeping playhead on frame 40, pull the rectangle onto the other side as shown below

My problem is that when I move it in frame one, it also moves in frame 40... and when I move it to the other side in frame 40 and go back to frame 1 it is no longer in the original position... I can't get my head around this!!! I am using Flash 8 Professional if that's any help!

I am inserting frames and not keyframes, just like the tutorial says...

Guide Layer, And Mask Layer Problem
I have a small problem, and it might be possible i just been looking at things the wrong way.

I currently have a symbol on a guided layer, that follows a path when my movie is played. The symbol starts off small, and grows as it reaches the end of the path.

The problem i'm having is, the symbol is overlapping the outside border of my background layer. I'm trying to make the symbol look like its behind the border of my background layer.

I know this can achieved using a mask, but as the symbol is already on a guided layer..Flash won't let me apply it to a layer mask.

Is there any other way around this?

Moving Background On 1st Layer Static On 2nd Layer
Hello I'm a beginner in flash, can someone please show an example code of how to have a smooth slow moving background (image), and then on top of that have a static image (that makes the border of the movie, like a picture frame) with the middle being transparent so you can see through the moving background.

Can this be done with the flash rectangle tool so I don't have to use an image for the border?

I managed to make the 1st layer have the moving picture in a loop with motion tween, but in the 2nd layer my "picture frame" does not even show when I test the movie.

Copy Layer Contents To 2nd Layer
Hi all,

I'm loading a few external .swfs as backgrounds, the swf in the background changes on each click of a button in the main swf.

But the backgrounds are kinda big and slow to load, so whenever a new one loads, theres a second of blank canvas showing (or the layer below the one that's accepting the loaded .swfs), then the next pic takes its place.

Is there a way so that when a new .swf loads, it also gets copied to the layer below it? So when another swf loads, and theres that pause of no swfs, it just shows the bottom-most layer which is holding the copied swf that loaded just before?

Moving Objects From Layer To Layer
Yes I knwo this is probably a very naive question but I'm learning Flash 8 here and it says nothing in the documentation about moving an object from one to layer to another. I'm sure in Flash 5 you selected the object and then simply clicked the layer which you wanted it on. This seems to have changed and Adobe/MM have forgotten to say how you do it now.

One Masked Layer And More Than One Mask Layer?
Hi all,

is there a way to get a layer masked by more than one mask layer?

I'm creating an animation where a mask will discover step-by-step the
bottom layer.
But the bottom layer is really complex so I created 5 more layer and
applyed the 'mask' property to them.

The problem is that only the first mask layer is applied on the movie,
while other mask layer are ignored.

Is there a solution to this problem?

How Can I Duplicate Motion From Layer 2 Layer
If I take the time to create motion on layer one with the word "Hello", and now I want the same motion as that layer EXCEPT I want the word to say "World" when I copy the motion to a new layer it has the word Hello, I then edit that word to say world BUT it changes both layes (object) to the word World. I am trying to create several similar steps of animation kind of like a slideshow and simply want to change the words on the second slide, in effect saving time (hopefully). Is there a way to do this, or do I simply have to do every thing by hand each time?

I'm working in multiple layers for a presentation I'm doing... and i've completely forgot how to control the main layer (0) by layer (1).

I basically want a button to unload layer1 (which is working fine), but I want to "gotoAndStop" on layer 0?

I'm trying to duplicate a movieclip x-times and let them all react on the first layer. They all get instance names from blok0 to blok4. But i can't get this to work. blok0 is now scalling when i press key UP or key DOWN. But the others don't react. Does anyone has a solution for this?

I Would Like My Sound Loop To Continously Loop Without Looping Over Itself When I Repeat My Images.
I have a sound loop moving along with my flash images. When the flash images finish and I send it back to frame 1, my sound doubles. How can I play my sound loop once, but allow my images to continously loop.

Is there away to just run one loop of sound, and let the image aspect continue to loop.

I would like my sound loop to continously loop without looping over itself when I repeat my images.

LoadVars In A For Loop Not Executing .load Function Until For Loop Completed?

Loop Inside Loop... Why Doesn't Work Properly?
In order to cause a delay, I have put a loop inside another loop. Here it is:

Flash delays to show the page but in the end I just see both variables with the maximun value. The point was to see variable "a" growing with delay. What have I done wrong?

So I made butttons and assigned each one an onRelease function. But each one needs to have assigned a variabile by the value "i" in the for loop.
When I write it like this the function itself is defined only after I click it and it ofcourse asigns all the buttons the same "i", the last value of "i" in the for loop.

How do I do it so I get first button with variable 1, second with 2,... ?

Loop Help: XML Attribute Doesnt Stay On Each Object Of The Loop
Hi, i'm working on a gallery that loads thumbnails from an xml file into 3 columns and when you click on a thumbnail it opens a new window with the fullsized image in.

I have modified code from a gallery tutorial to load the thumbnails from a xml file. They are going in 3 columns at the moment (I don't understand why but they are) but only the last image has a hand cursor when you rollover it, and then when you click on it, it traces "undefined" into the output box.

My Sound Loop Is Repeating Itself Ontop Of Previous Loop

My client says that when you first start the movie, the loop starts fine but when he clicks on one of the three buttons at the bottom (Home, Florida, Alabama) the initial first loop continues to play and a new loop is beginning to repeat while the first one is still playing.

It works fine for me in Firefox and Safari on a Mac.

Any solutions?

Mp3 Sound Loop Bad. Wav Loop Good.
I have a soundloop which is a WAV file
and it works just fine when i loop it in flash

But when i convert it to an MP3 file...for osme weird reason theres a little less than 1 second pause when it starts again...you can tell its a loop...not smooth

But in WAV format its fine.
Its weird..ive used two different softwares to convert my wav file.
ive used Creative Wave Studio, Ive used a dedicated third party MP3-WAV convertor.

same results...the mp3 has bad looping.

any ideas?

[MX04] Loop Loop Whoops
Hi,

I know this might be really simple but I'm having a problem with my movie continuing to loop even though I've put the stop() function anywhere and everywhere I can think of. Basically, I have some mc's in Frame 1 which perform some calculations in AS. At the end of one of the calculations, I have _root.gotoAndStop(2) (which I'm assuming is telling the playhead to move on to the next frame in the main timeline).

I've put in key frames in the second frame for the same mc's to perform some different calculations which are dependent on variables from Frame 1's calculations. After running through the calculations, the movie won't stop looping and I can't figure out why.

Can anyone suggest a course of action? Thanks in advance.

Stop Loop And Replay Loop
Okay on my stage I have a start(MC) and a stop(MC) and a clear(MC) these will be used as buttons. I also have a dynamic text box that shows my output.

I am making it so when you click start it will start counting from 0 to whenever you hit the stop button, I have changed my fps to 1 so it doesn't crash my computer, And this is where I am running into trouble. Here is my code.

Loop Within A Loop (creating 2 Columns)

I need to make 2 more columns, same as the first, with the rest of the info from the php file. Right now I have a "LIMIT 0,10" on the MYSQL request so there are only 10 rows. Ultimately there will be three rows with 30 employees.

How would I write this loop?

XML Nested Loop - Access The Loop Later... But How?
Hello all. I need help desperately, I'm very novice with this kinda stuff. Basically, I have data organized by date in an XML file. I'm trying to make a website application that will allow the user to click on a date (in a text field) to see another textfield populate with all the data under that particular date.

So far, all the information loads into the textboxes at the same time. How can I get it to only load information under a particular date when somebody clicks on that date?

Before I started this project, I was convinced I could do this by manipulating the [j] (see code below) in the myFunc2 function. Currently, it's set up to increment blank_mc._y by whatever value is returned by [j]. But for some reason this doesn't work. I feel that if I could atleas get this part to work - I could probably do the rest.

Any help is greatly appreciated. PS - I'm not sure I even need a nested loop for this...

GrRR Loop, Loop,loop
Hi ! I would like to know why when I goto publishing or otherwise. That when the program is run that the "loop" is always in the on mode. I have looked under preferences and I don't see it in there either. Can this thing be turned off somewhere by using scripts? Cause the last program I played with was supposed to "play and stop". It does work before the last frame is seen and then jumps over it when that script is activated. But then restarts the whole movie process all over again. But,now if I play the movie myself and I go and right click on the movie and turn off the loop it worksd just fine ... How do you turn that thing OFF????

Help Me Layer
I'm starting up a new idea for a flash page but I ran into a snag. The left side holds the buttons, on click the buttons run movie clips holding the content on the right side.

I'm trying to give the effect of windows opening up, they can open and close different sections seperately, and have multiple widows up at the same time. Each window has a button that can be clicked to drag the window.

When you click on "Contents" the "contents" window pops up. If you leave the "contents" window open and click on "About us" the "about us" window open on top of the "contents" window, so you can't see anything on it. I want to be able to click the drag button on the "contents" window and have it move in front of the "about us" window so that it can be viewed.

Layer Help
So I have a graphic that goes across the screen in layer one, and stops moving at frame 30...

Where I have in layer2 a graphic that moves from frame 30 to frame 35... however my graphic from layer 1 disapears...

How do I hande this?
