Index.html Vs. Index.swf (fullscreen) Help
Hi,

I am working on a site and what I am trying to get is the flash movie to load full screen (so there is no scroll bars). How can I set it so that when they go to the website it loads the index.swf file and not the .html file

my example is www.iccimmigration.com/index.swf (this is what I want, no scroll bars)

The index.html file with all margins set to 0... but what happens is when someone views the site with a higher screen resolution the movie is only half the screen.

Index.html Won't Play
On a site that I have created my index.html file will not play. It does play from my hard drive, but not on the web. I have tried re-uploading both the index.html file and the home.swf file to the server several times, but still not luck. Does anyone know why this might be? Thanks!

Uploading Swf Into Index.html
I thought it used to be pretty simple to import/upload a swf into your index.html, and update it to your server.

However, I'm running into security issues?

This error pops up when I test my index.html file:

SecurityError: Error #2148: SWF file http://www.mywebsite.com/first.swf cannot access local resource second.swf. Only local-with-filesystem and trusted local SWF files may access local resources.

Hi,

I placed a Flash web site on the www but it doesn't look centered, big enough, etc. Is there any recommended index.html file that I can see as an example. On mine I am calling main.swf. I also noticed that the main.html file generated by the publish option in flash doesn't call the .swf. Any comments or sugestions?...thanks

Ok here goes, I'm having a lot of problems at the moment testing my site that is made in flash - I keep getting the page not found page.

I have made a homepage into which all other swf files will be pulled in by pressing home, contact etc. Now then, quite obviously the homepage will be the first one to load, so, should i name this page index right from the start, and then when it is published, it creates the index.html page ready for uploading to the server, or can I name it homepage and then at a later date, rename the file. This later one is the one I have been using and I think it is causing some sort of conflict - I need to know the correct procedure.

HTML Index Page
the index page of my site was built in flash, it contains site requirements, link to macromedia, enter site... etc,etc.
It is the first scene of my movie. The enter site button goes to scene 2 which contains the preloader and then continues into the movie.

after publishing the movie, i go to dreamweaver, create new site etc..etc and save my SWF as 'index html' then put it on my server
with the main SWF file.

my questions,

1. will a user who doesn't have flash even get to my index page because it was built in flash, or is it OK because it has an 'index html' file on my server?

2. if they do get the index page, will the link to macromedia be active for them to get flash and veiw the rest of the site?

Z-index And Flash Over HTML
ive got some flash over HTML using z-index and div tags, only problem is the flash overlaps some of the html buttons
so i kind of want it to play an animation, then unload itself

is there a way of doing this?

Z-index On Html Layers And Flash....
I have html layers (part of a navigation) that are activited by mouseovers. I have these html layers z-index set at 5.

I have a swf in a different html layer which has a z-index set to 0.

Why does my swf still appear on top over my html layers that have a higher z-index.

Get Caret Index Of Html Textfield
I'm working on a HTMLarea plugin. It's supposed to be used in HTML forms to replace the textarea form field so people with no knowledge of HTML can generate HTML code in a texteditor alike environment. It can be used for example in content manegement systems or server-side email clients. I've made a WYSIWYG editor once, so I figured it could be done in one textfield without showing code aswell.
Perhaps I've guessed wrong, 'cause I'm stuck and I can't figure out how to solve this problem, so I hoped one of the guru's round here could help me out...
The problem is that I need to get the caret index of a HTML textfield. When I try to achieve this using Selection.getCaretIndex(); it returns the caret index showed instead of the index of the variable attached to the textfield.
e.g.
When the textfield shows the line:

Link To Different PopUps From Index.html
I've got one html file (index) which opens up main.swf. There are several buttons in this file that link to different .swf's. Each different swf has two buttons in it which open popUp windows. by putting this code on my button-

I've tried addng the name of the individual popUPs to the button code but then i get an error message.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

I would like to have a .swf load full screen w/out using a pop-up window. In other words, using FS Commands how can I get a .swf to be full screen in a browser window that retains it's menu bar???

Setting Up Link Buttons Outside Of Index.swf
Quick Flash 101 question. I am setting up a portfolio.swf file on my website. The problem is the links work when the file is index.swf and not when it is portfolio.swf. I would like to go to for example www.generalwebsite.com/portfolio.swf and have my portfolio come up, which it does and works fine, but when the button is pressed, I have the _blank screen pop up and instead of getting www.whateverlink.com in the new window, I get www.generalwebsite.com/www.whateverlink.com . Why is www.generalwebsite.com coming up before www.whateverlink.com? Sorry if this is so confusing but it is really simple and I am sure I am forgetting something basic. All suggestions greatly appreciated.

Get Selection Index From Html Text Field

has anyone had to get the selection indicies from a html enabled text area?

I'm using the

Selection.getBeginIndex()
and
Selection.getEndIndex()

but these are returning counts based on the visible text
BUT...
then when I need to do substring functions, the indicies refer to the whole string (html tags etc.)

does anyone have a clever idea??

I Would Like To Have My Intro Animation Transition To My Html.index
I have an intro animiation that makes my homepage "appear" (zoom in buttons, fade in logo banner). When the movie clip is finished, I would like it to open the home page that is identical to the end of the clip with out the user really noticing. Is this possible?
The obstacles I encounter are:
1. I don't know the actionscript that makes the swf file appear in a "regular" browers (meaning with the toolbars and buttons)
2. I don't know how to open an html file from within the swf file (_self)

How Do I Set My Flash To Play Only On First Visit To Index.html? :
Is there a way that once a movie has played and unloaded that if you bounce to a non-flash page (i.e. HTML (.htm/.asp) page) that when you back to the page it won't play that movie again.

I know it would be easier remaining in flash the entire time.
The movie I've loaded is an intro that I don't want played everytime a user hits the index.php again. Only the first time.

Does Using The Css Z-index Property For Flash In Html Work?
i'm putting together a hybrid html/flash site and i want some html text to be above a flash file but it appears to go behind the flash file. i've set the flash file to be z-index 1 and the text to be z-index 2. i've solved it by making the flash transparent but does anyone know why the z-index solution isn't working? thanks.

Index.html Won't Update-refers To Cache
I have a problem when I update .html and .swf files. It seems that some browsers update automatically while others refer to their cache. Even after clearing the cache, I still get the old files, even though they have been replaced with files of the same name.

To see an example of what I'm talking about go to the following address, then hit the home button. I changed the .html file so it no longer is published as a percentage, but it still retains the old file somehow:

Centering And Framing My .swf In My Index.html Code
I’m not familiar with JAVA script and I can’t figure out how to adjust the html “index” file obtained via the publish option in flash cs 3. I want to edit in Dreamweaver the html index file that contains my flash site so that my flash page is framed and centered on the page; it’s also important that the page retains the capabilities of AC_RunActiveContent which I plan on posting to my server. I don’t want users to have to approve the install activeX control every time. I’ve tried variations of code and tried to work through it, but no matter what I do I end up with a quarky outcome. The most common outcome is where the page is requesting to install activeX control despite the presence of my AC_RunActiveContent file and displays within the frame the error message that is meant for users who do not have a Flash Player Installed, yet if you simply accept the ActiveX control request the flash becomes viewable.. not drastically off, but really quarky. Can someone look at my code and make suggestions or better yet indicate for me what the correct code for this situation should look like? .......

How To Center Flash Movie In Index.html

Hello, I am having a lot of trouble figuring out which publish settings will allow my site to automatically center in the browser window. What i did for a while was in Publish Settings>Dimensions> I set it to pixels and made it 1000*500. That did not work even when i used the other settings to center it in the html. The size of my acctually movie is 800*550. I dont know why my movie isnt auto centering in the browser. Any help would be appreciated.

Server Does Not Recognize Index.html File
I am having a bit of trouble using Flash CS3. I have created my flash file, and publish it to my hard drive. There are two files, one is the flash.swf file, and the other is index.html. How To Force Redirection Of Browser To Another HTML Upon Loading INDEX.HTM ?
If I want to prevent users from going through my files on my server, I will have to put in an "index.htm" in all my folders. So if they try to look at my folders, they will only get my "index.htm".

My question is, how can I in my "index.htm" force a redirection of the browser to my home page ? That way, no matter what folder they try to look at, they will always be automaticaly be directed to my home page.

I'm assuming it's done by <body ...OnLoad="ddd"> ???

p.s. : I know this won't block every body. It will at least block 90% of them and that's enough.

Flash Button Won't Go To Anchor <a> On The Same Webpage (index.html)
In the webpage with the swf I have an anchor at the bottom of the same page. (Im speaking of html anchors not flash anchors EG: a name="sd"></a>) I want the flash button to scroll the user to that part of the page with the anchor (#sd) I tried using GetURL but it only reloads the page(index.html)without going to the anchor (index.html#sd). I really need a way for a flash button to point to anchors on a webpage but now I'm really frustrated. is there a way to do this that actually works?

I'm trying to work on a text pad like MC with "insert text at position X" and "find and replace" can anyone tell me how to find the cursor index of an html text field. Selection.getBeginIndex() , Selection.getEndIndex(), Selection.getCaretIndex() as far as I know these methods only work with text and not htmltext.
What I'm trying to do is assign different parts of the string to variables so that I can combine them to reconstitute my html string.

Script To Make Index.html Load Full Screen, Even On Mac?
When it loads, I would like my index.html to go full screen (NOT the page that holds my .swf, I know how to get that one to go full screen)
It's the first page that the user comes into, then clicks on the "enter" button to launch the html that has the .swf in it....

1. I have a bunch of associated arrays, populated from an xml file.
2. I have a dyn mc that displays thumbs, based on the info from the arrays.
3. if the user clicks on the thumb, I want the on release to trigger (among other things) a function that will find the index of, say, "houseID" so I can then apply that index in loading up a different(big) jpg , and other info pertinent to that thumb.

Why if I type "http://localhost:8080/flashremoting/gateway" (flashremoting is the context root)in the address bar, I will get a HTTP Status 404 error: The requested resource (/flashservices/index.html) is not available.
If every thing is ok, it should show a blank page, right?

By the way, if I set gateWayUrl to "http://localhost:8080/flashremoting/gateway", I will get an error of "flashgateway.adapter.NoSuchServiceException: No service named flashremoting is known to Flash Remoting MX."
if I set it to "http://localhost:8080/flashremoting/", I will get an error of "NetConnection.call.BadVersion"!

I am quite confused now, can anyone help me out?

How To Reveal A .swf Server Directory Behind A Host Html Index File To Save A Flash File To HD?
I FIND YOUR FLASH FORMAT EXTREMELY USER-UNFRIENDLY.
I spent two weeks to figure out how to save a complete .swf file to my local drive.
Finding 48 files behind a main html doc hosting those .swf's took 48 hours.
(Now I can't move my arm anymore due to RSI!)

No application to save a Flash file, seems to be able to do that in 1,2,3 convenient steps.
I always get bits and pieces or individual graphics.

I NEVER GET THE ENTIRE MANUAL the way I can browse the Flash file in my browser.
I am seriously thinking of never browsing a Flash file again if there is no solution to download e.g. a manual of my digital camera. I have the right to browse such a file at my convenience either on or offline! Online it's just impossible due to server overload.

Now I only get the desadvantages of the format to deal with (e.g. tons of spamming advertising) whereas I should be able to enjoy the benefits. Eventhough I gave the manufacturer the right to fill up 10 MB on my drive, I never got a file on my PC. And even when I did, I wouldnt know where to find it...
I hope Adobe would listen to the user more often...

WHY DON'T YOU BUILD SOLUTIONS AS EASY AS A RIGHT MOUSE CLICK
ALLOWING FOR SAVING A FLASH FILE!
That can't be rocket science, is it?

Buttons And Html
I think I am posing this in the right area. To begin with, I have a swf file containing 4 buttons or so. My site has two frames. The left smaller window for the menu, where the buttons go, and the larger right one for the main site content. I have figured out how to add the swf file to the html in the left frame, but no matter what option I seem to choose for 'window' in GetURL I can not get it to load in the right frame, just the menu frame or a new window all together. Any help would be most apreciated, and thank you in advance.
