Ok, i have created a preloader in the first scene of a flash document. I need to get content from another flash document into scene 2. It appears that i have 2 options: Either 1. import my other fla document into the next scene 2OR2. I import the relevant scene from my other fla document into scene 2. Does anyone know how to do this?? Thanks

i need to add a text field/box/area to an existing scene whereby a text file or html file can be reference for the content. the 'cleint' needs to update the site content themselves but has no knowledge of flash and wants something quick and easy (like editing a simple text docuiment).
i have found a couple tutorials on adding a text field that references a .txt file (see code below), but i cannot figure out how to make the text box scroll.

Import Images To Flash Document
Hey,
I cut an image in photoshop, and import it in Flash MX Pro 2004.
And then it looks like this

Its not correctly cut out. I tried with masks and even background cut.
Can someone please help me with this, or give me a good advice?

How?
When I double click on that movie file from library & open it on stage, it shows blank keyframes.
I am very comfusing, becuase I import properly. It works outside in flash player.
Is there any problem in movie or import command is wrong for flash movie?
Is there any action script for import movie?
I also want to inform you that I don't want to access flash movie externally by using action script. Just want to import.

I figure there HAS to be a way to do this but I've searched this site for "import text" and the Flash 8 help docs and found nothing.
Can you import the text from a simple .txt document into Flash, like into a dynamic text field? I know it's possible to import like XML text but I need to go simpler for my employers if possible, rather than trying to teach him to type what he needs in between the proper tags.
Launch Windows File Browser For Jpeg File Import To Flash?
I would like for the users of my interactive piece to be able to click on a button which says, 'import file'. This would launch the usual windows open file browser window to appear. Then the user could import an image file. This file would load into a holder movie clip and then would stretch or shrink to fit into a size of my choosing, i.e. 400 x 300. Is this possible? I imagine it might be using flash to call some javascript but I could use some advice.

.swf File Within Flash Document
Hi there,
I am working with a flash document and there are a bunch of separate .swf files that I want to have within the flash document.
What I am working on is a software course. The idea is to click a play button and have the swf file open within the same screen to avoid having separate windows being open.
The problem that I have encountered is with the first swf file. I've imported it to the library and just by doing so, it has made the .fla file EXTREMELY slow. And there are still several .swf files to import.
What can I do to make these files less of a pain in the neck? Is there a method to reduce the file sizes?

I was just wondering if anyone knows how to create a Flash file that can be used within an e-mail document. I am thinking of something similar to the annoying junk mail that everyone gets that has blinking text/images and buttons. Can that be done in Flash?
File Size Of Flash Document
I created a flash document with lots of pictures. After I deleted the pictures, the file size stayed the same. Can someone please tell me how to permenently delete the pictures from my document? (I have tried to delete them from my library).
Word Document Or Pdf File In Flash
I have created a Flash CBT that has an assessment at the end. If they pass
the assessment, they can print out a User Access Form which will have their
name, date, score, and some other pertinent pieces of information. I have
this User Access Form in both Word and PDF format. And I know that I can
open a Word or PDF file from Flash ... but I need it to be populated with
the information that was gathered from within Flash ... so I'm trying to
figure out how to bring these files into Flash.
Is it possible to put a Word document, or a PDF file into a Flash file? If
so ... how?
And if not ... is it possible to send data from Flash to Word ... so that
their personalized data will already be in the document when it opens?
Or ... any other ideas that might serve my purpose here?
The only thing I could think of to do was to turn this file into a bitmap
and then use the bitmap in Flash ... with dynamic text fields in the
appropriate places on a layer above the bitmap. The problem with this is
that the quality of the bitmap is not as crisp and clean as a Word or PDF
file would be.

Best Way To Call Flash File In Document...
So, now that I'm Flash CS3........it has a "publish" feature that kicks out your javascript placeholder and javascript that goes in the header in an html document....it also will create the "AC_RunActiveContent.js" file...
Is there a simpler way to do this, that's more up-to-date....it's been my experience in the past (before CS3) that some programmer friends of mine gave me a better way to call flash......

How Do I Put A Flash Document With A .XML File On My Dreamweaver Website?
I am making a slideshow, and the images load through a XML file, I have all the images in a folder on my website, so it can connect to them properly, and it works fine when I test my movie within the flash program.
BUT
When I add the SWF to my website, it does not read my XML file. I put a folder with my SWF and the XML on my site, Then i dragged the SWF to my page and it went on there correctly and everything, it just doesnt read my XML.

File Existence Detection - Outside Flash Document

i want to know i flash can detect the presence of a file like a jpeg or a mov outside the .swf. Like in a "/images" folder.
I have searched the forum and some people tryed it with the getBytesTotal() function but it didn't seem to work.
The problem is that i got a gallery which i want to be universal, where the name of the jpg's that are loaded in are based on a variable. But sometime they will not be any jpg, it's gonna be a movie. Those movie are gonna be inside other swf for simpler loading and positionning.
Thing is, i'm a graphic designer doing simple programmation for website but this is getting out of range,
i'd like to put the actionscript like this :

Sending A Flash File To Back In HTML Document
Hi
I have a Flash graphic (made for Flash 8) positioned underneath a line of options. Each of these options open up a drop down menu using the HTML <li> command, in much the same manner as the "File" "Options" & "Help" menus at the top of most windows programs.
However, the lists generated by the <li> command always appear behind the SWF graphic beneath. Is there a way of specifying the order, i.e. of sending the Flash graphic "To Back" or the HTML "To Front"? I've looked all through the options in the Macromedia Flash Editor and I figure it must be something in the corresponding HTML that displays the SWF but I'm not sure as I'm new to Flash.
Any ideas on what I'm missing?

i´m just trying to import an png file to flash. i made a complete layout of a website and would like to animate it in flash. i´ve tried all the options of importing but the only one that works without reducing the look is to import as a single bitmap. but i can´t animate a single bitmap... i´ve also tried to change the properties from jpeg to png but this still doesn´t work.

How To Import Swf Into Another Flash File?
Hi Everyone,
I have built an interactive learning activity with multiple scenes. When exported the movie functions correctly and will go to the appropriate scene when the corresponding button is clicked. However I need to place this swf into another scene in a seperate flash file. When I import the swf and place it in the scene I want it I get unexpected things happening when i preview. When I go to the scene the swf has been placed in it plays through all of the swf's scenes contiuously.
Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? I am presuming it is something to do with the export properties of the swf?

Hi I am working on a web-site for a friend and he has a video clip of him playing hockey. I think its either a avi or a mpg or something but whatever it is. I tried to import it into flash and it DIDNT WORK. It says one of more files missing or something like that.

I am importing a txt file into a scrolling text box. I've done that with no problems. The client now wants an image imbedded in the text. Is there a way to do this? I know the HTML img tag doesn't work. Is there a way to reference an image in the library using the imported txt file? Any help would be appreciated.

Flash Import Of Captivate File
For some reason, I am unable to get Flash MX 2004 to import a Captivate .cp source file. It does not have the .cp file type in the drop down menu when I attempt to import into the library or to the stage. When I select all file types and then attempt the operation, it does not recognize the file type and asks if I would like to use Quicktime to import the file.
We are using roaming profiles on Windows 2000 Professional. Flash is 7.02 and Captivate is 1.0.1188.

What Is Low File Size For AE Import To Flash?
Hey guys,
Just wondering what would be considered a low file size for a After Effects FLV export into Flash? I had a video that was 400 KB in size and I thought that might be too large. Right now, my site's main page is 200 KB and I'm not sure what would be the norm to stay around to keep things loading smoothly. I want to incorporate some After Effects into my site, but I'm worried about people that don't have T1 connections not being able to see it.
