Well i have this script for pop up windows.. and it works fine... but i was wondering how you get the window to pop up in the middle of the screen .. not to the side... please help... thanks...
heres the script i use now.... ( i use it in my flash movie from a button.... )

Here's my basic problem: I have a working Slider. You can move the slider left to right, and the appropriate instance on stage will change in color. that was easy.

Now, I need that same slider to correspond to a meter of sorts. Like a speedometer or a gas gauge, you know? As I slide the slider right, I need the needle of the gauge to move right.

How do I go about doing this?

Ok i just recently made a webpage with draggable windows using a "duplicate movie" type style.
( http://www.flashkit.com/tutorials/In...96/index.shtml ) <-- Thats the tutorial i used (with some minor tweaks to match flash 5) The problem is that i cant get it to have multiple windows out at one time.

Are there any other tutorials out there for having multiple dragable windows?

ok imagine this .
you have x many workers in a company. and all have a username and password to loging and view their stuff. for example time sheet, vacation , or the time you were screwing the boss wife! etc,etc
Is a .swf safe enough to hold such information? like worker A will enter his password and go to his page. worker B enters his password and goes to his. IS FLASH SAFE ENOUGH or should i say SECURE Enough? can the .swf be hacked into even if i password protect it?

and is flash the right software to use for something so important? or should i use some other software? if so which one?

also if one of u could send me the code for makeing it accessible to different number of users.

i think i should many .swf. each worker will have his .swf to view only if his password is correct. if you guys think u might have a better plan let me now cause folks, this one is important to me.

Here is the problem. I have created a site. I have all my graphics in one file "zzz.swf". Another file contains the sound I wish to have in my site. When I want I can load it as external swf and unload it too. OK so far but...
It is necessary when I press 4 specific buttons, the file to be unloaded.
Then the choices I give to the user are specific. He can only press
some specific buttons. When he press one of them I am telling to the external swf which contains the sound to be reloaded again. Also by pressing a button he sets a variable to "true". And now when the external file is loaded again if the variable is true then gotoAndPlay ... if not ...
I cannot achieve this result no matter how I tried. Do you have some code for that or another solution, I am not an expert.

I am trying to manipulate 200 different layers at once within a movieclip. (each layer represents a person and as the movie progresses they flow towards a common destination)
My problem is that I currently have all 200 layers being moved within one onEnterFrame() function which then contains a for loop - looping through each 200 people (on each layer) and updating their x/y co-ordinates).
This seems to be very slow and cause jerky movements - presumebly due to on every frame it has to loop through and update 200 layers!

Is there a better way of doing this?
Have tried calling 200 dif onEnterFrame functions at start within a for loop but this doesnt work.
Have also considered the onInterval function but has same problem?

Any advice? HELP!!

i have a "main language selection swf" and two folders.

files inside the folders have same names. but they are in different languages.

so they are seperated by only the folder name...

what kind of code i have to write to go to the exact place?

i can not use loadmovie because there are lots of movies in each folder and when i use loadmovie only the root file works.

i dont want to use get url because i will make this whole cd rom as an exe file and i will use swfkit pro 2 for this.

path of my interior files are:

tur/index.swf
eng/index.swf

this is the deal. i have a movieclip, and in that movie clip is a tween. once that tween is done, i want it to tell the main timeline to go to the next frame and stop. could somone please provide me with the Action Scripting code for that.

number two. i have 5 buttons on the main time line, that when the first one is pushed will tell a MC to go to a certain frame. say for example, when button one is pushed, it will tell the MC to go to frame one, when the second one is pushed it will go to frame two and so on. i also need the Action Scripting for this. if someone could please help me out. this is an urgent task. thank you.

Can anyone help me with using Set Property. I want to make a page that has 10 images on it and once you go over an image it scales up and alpha goes to 100 instead of 30. Once you roll out of the image, it scales down and the alpha goes back to 30. How can I do this efficiently for every image?

I need some help.

It has to do with loading movies and sounds externally.

Is it possible to load an *.avi externally into a player? From recent experience with Flash, you could'nt. You would have to import it as a *.swf or by frame by frame etc etc etc.... And then however you would present a movie, it'd open into another window and play there, either quicktime or wma.

Also, this has to do with sounds, is it possible to load sounds externally (external meaning loading sounds files such as *.wav's into flash to be played?)?

before i begin i'd like to say i'm using Flash MX and i only got into flast late last year... so i'm not a total newbie..

okay i have a few problems that are sort of closely related.

Firstly. i have worked out how to load a *.txt file into a text box.. i have set this textbox to output text... is this correct?

In the *.txt file i have used some HTML for an email link.. a very nice person showed me how to do it... i do it like this

in case your wondering .. yes i have set the text as render as html...

Moving on now... i would like to use this text and have a scroll bar that will let me scroll through the text.. someone has alerted me to scroll bars on this website.. i downloaded one of them and it worked.. but i cant seem to get it to work on my own flash movie. I found theres no action script on the scroll bar or nothing... so yeh

And finally when i publish my movie... and test it in the browser... the TEXT doesn't show up!

do you think i shouldn't do my text this way by load a *.txt file?

by the way whay i'm doing is a web page...

I made a flash animation.The animation contains text. Lets say the font I used was FONT-XYZ. Then I exported the flash animation as quicktime movie. Then I sent the quicktime movie t the client. Now does the client need FONT-XYZ on there computer to view the quicktime movie correctly ???? OR is the quicktime movie independent of the fonts in the clients computer?

Important .avi Goes Italic?
THis is a bit strange, but when i import an avi movie into flash mx, it sort of makes the movie go in like italic, with the very right hand of the movie being shown in the very left of it, if you know what i mean. I have no idea why it is doing this as the avi is fine on everyplayer i have tried it on, just goes wierd in flash.

If anyone has any ideas as to why this is going on i would be most grateful

need lots of help here, i am working on a standalone exe file. im using MX 2004. i searched the forum but all solutions use geturl, and i dont want that

first of all i have a button that i want to link to an swf file- but i want the swf file to open up in a new flash player, how can i do that? geturl opens it in internet explorer, i just want it to open in a new flash player alone.

also i have a button that i want to link to a word document, and another to a pdf document but i dont want to use the geturl way (cause it opens them in internet explorer, i want them to directly open in MS WORD AND ACROBAT READER).

also there are some buttons that shall open a .jpg, how can i do that without using geturl sine it opens them in Internet explorer.

i have a transparent banner. the article under the banner's place is also important... so i want that banner work for 5 minutes and after that disappear for 30 minutes so the article can be seen...
after 30 minutes it will be visible again and than disappear...

Hi, this is a delicate problem that I have incountered many times before...I made a 7 minutes flash movie ..with over 12.000 frames ...I asked the buyer too review the movie constantly when I made the movie so I don't get to this problem again but it happend again. The problem is that AFTER the movie was finished ..sound added ..everything, he want's to make pauses betwin animations longer..and there are 38 animations one aftre the other ...I can't make the pause by script cause this would afect the music and the pause button my movie allready has ....I can't move all the frames to the right starting from the beginining cause my computer crashes everytime I do that ..and also the movie ..and I have 1.5 Gb ram...if I start from the end It's gonna take me ALOOOOOT of time .....if any of you have incountered this problem before and have a better solution I would be forever in your debt.
