Flash :: Importing PHP Into Flash Help Please

Importing XML Into Flash Via ASP...
Dear all,
I have successfully imported/loaded info from an XML file into my flash file. I learnt this from a course I went on and got it work for for what I wanted.

However, my IT dept have created an ASP file that generates the XML, and want me to get info via the ASP file..... in order that the info can be generated directly from the SQL server.

I've looked at XML.docTypeDecl / onLoad(success) / parseXML / sendAndLoad - in the book - I don't understand it all enough - but donot (cannot!!) give up on it - there must be a way! (if only I understood it all more.)

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Or perhaps has code examples that I look at to help understand a method?

Can anybody tell me if its possible to import pdfs into Flash, - If someone clever has made a convertion programme for this purpose. I have a 40 page pdf I have loved to get converted.

it might just be my pc or just somehing i dont understand

but i saw in the flash samples that its also possible to import avi's zo flash and play them

zo i imported an .avi file into flash library, on full quality, full keyframe interval and full scale, i also said it had t syncronize to slah document frame rate, and when i click on the movie and drag it into my workwindow it says:"Could not perform operation cause of unkown error." anyone known what i am doing wrong, maybe a forgotten action or so?

When I import an SWF from flash it doesn't just import the SWF. Is there a way to just import the SWF so I can put it on the stage?

I was wondering if it is possible to import a word doc or spreadsheet into Flash as a symbol? I recently made a course about finances, and I had to create the statements within Flash myself, which added on a lot of time to the project.

Ok, I know this is kinda a After Effects / Flash question, but I'm hoping someone might know.
What is the best way to import images from AE to Flash w/ effects on them. I have tried exporting as SWF and it only captures the movement and not the effect.

Im a flash noob so I assume this is the appropriate forum.

I want to import sequences of avi into my flash movie. I currently use Flash 5, which I realize may be out dated so hopefully I can still do it. If I need some additional software, I would like some recommendations if you can. Free is good, but whatever is good Though Id like to be able to do this without addition software. Thanks!

What is the easiest way to import a .swf into another flash file. I tried the File>Export and got it in but when placing an instance of it into the new document it would not play. Can anyone help me out?

[CS3] Importing An Swf Into Flash
I have an SWF file that I got from using an swftool to convert a pdf into an swf. This problem may be specific to that but anyway, the SWF looks fine on its own in the flash player but when I try to import it into flash it results in the creation of many many graphics and bitmaps as well as one movieclip file. The movieclip file appears to be the swf file I imported however all of the text looks like it disappeared. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I thought of converting the swf to an avi and importing that but then I lose out on the clarity of a lot of the original text.

i'm pretty new in actionscript because i normally work as a designer. But i got this assignment now where i need some actionscript for.

i'll explain what my problem is.
I have a script that uses a movieclip to get information. the information is placed in more frames to have more than one page. The script automatically recognises the amount of frames.

Now i would like to import the content of this movieclip from an swf file. It does import the file bud it is just one single frame. is it possible to force the imported swf to spread over multiple frames like when you import an swf into flash using the File>import function?

Importing PPT To Flash
Hi,

I want to import a PPT file into Flash, can anybody suggest me a way to do it. My requirement is to integrate Voice Over in PPT and convert it to video.

As PPT does not provide good support to synch VO with animations, I am thinking to import PPT into flash, synch VO and then export it into video. Comments and suggestions are welcome...

Importing PSD's Into Flash
I'm using Flash 8, and have just started importing PSDs into Flash. I actually found the import PSDs feature in CS3, and discovered that you can import PSDs to Flash 8 as well.

The problem is, there is a color shift-the PSDs imported into Flash appear lighter than they do in PS, or than a JPEG of the same image appears when imported into Flash. I have noticed the same problem with PNG's as well. They also appear lighter than a JPG of exactly the same image when brought into Flash....

Does anyone know of any fix for this? Is it something to do with color-profiles in PhotoShop (of which I know little about)?

I import it into flash and the video comes in fine, But no audio... I really don't know what is going wrong.

Hi, I wanted to know how I can import an FLV into my running swf file. I want to create a player that will play an FLV, and I wanted to know a couple of things.

What requirements do I have for my server?
Would flash MX be able to create a swf that can load an FLV into an MC within it?

The point is that I want to see if I do not have to do it manually, (Import it into the FLA file, then export SWF to be played later, etc, etc.) I would really appreciate any help!!

Whenever I import an eps file into flash the colors are slightly off. I have to go into the object in flash and fix the colors. Why is this? Am I doing something wrong?

Importing Swf Into Flash 8
It has been a while since I have used flash but I remember in flash 3 being able to open a .swf file. However with Flash 8 when I try to import it, it doesnt import into frames like it used to, it just imports the movie.

I have downloaded a .swf from a tutorial site and want to see how someone created the effect I am look for.

Importing Mpg To Flash
I am using Flash 8 and I am getting the following message when I try to import a .mpg file into the flash library.
"A required system library did not initialize properly. Please ensure you have DirectShow 9 and Quicktime 6.5 or higher installed on your system."
I don't have either DirectShow or Quicktime installed on my system. Do I have to download both of these programs or does someone know of a better way?

Importing Mov Into Flash Mx
im trying to get a 3d animation into flash.
so far im totally failing ... swift and those other tools just give me crappy results.
the best i can get so far, is exporting it to quicktime and importing it to flash.

the quicktime has a brilliant quality, but importing it into flash with 100% quality and exporting it with 100% again, im getting pretty bad jpeg fragments, any ideas how to get around that ?

Does anyone know how to take a Flash file from a site online, save it to your desktop, then open up the file in Flash?

The idea is similar to viewing source on any HTML document, but I'd like the source on the Flash file instead.

I am using a Mac, so I'd need to know if it's possible on that platform.

Importing A Flash Photo Album Into A Flash Site
HELP!...

i have made a flash photo album... rather simple and easy to do. it is saved as a .swf file which when you click on it runs fine as it should do.

i'v been told that you can just drag/drop/import to libary (in flash) with the .swf files - which i can also do.

the problem i have is that the album when open just flickers and loops with no photo's.

do i need a command or something?

Hi, can anyone tell me how I can import a beautifully compressed jpeg without it being destroyed by Flash 4? What I mean is that I have made some jpegs which are compressed nicely down to about 10k, and when I import them and export the movie, the movie becomes ridiculously big. After checking the movie size report, I see that my jpegs are actually taking up 35 to 40k each in the movie. What can I do to keep them as they were originally?

Importing Swish Into Flash 5
I am trying to import a .swf file generated in swish (a text animation) into a Flash movie. However, when I import the file instead of showing the movie clip in the library as a symbol in its own right, it shows all the separate symbols making up the swish movie. This means I can't drag an instance of the clip onto the stage.

This should be so straightforward - where am I going wrong???

We have something built in flash, a sort of navigation made out of a desk with stuff on it. On click the user would go to whatever page ie. portfolio. So heres the question. Can the flash file be imported into director and keep the actionscripts for navigation or would it be better to just rebuild the desk in director.

I'm trying to create a Flash ani but I'm having trouble with the quality of graphics that are imported in Flash. I'm using PhotoShop 6.0 ... the graphics are very clean! But when I import them into Flash ... they look like crap. What I'm I doing wrong? Is there a certain color mode I should be using or graphical file format?

I'm still very green with flash so I apologize if this is an obvious one. I'm trying out swift and swish. Once I create SWF files, how do I import them into my flash files. I have a preloader working so I'd like to make sure they are loaded into the flash file.

So far, my attempts at importing them keeps turning them into static graphics instead of movies.

Importing Animated Gif To Flash 4
Well...

I have a nice animated gif with too many frames (around 370) but its file size is small (24K).

I Import that lovely gif into a new flash movie and I export it as a "swf" and I get a file with 2.5mbs size!!

how an animated gif that is 24 k produces a flash with 2.5mbs size??

apparently I do something wrong..anyone would be nice enough to help me with it?
