Importing Images
Hello,I'm always facing this problem of importing images. I usually use gradient bacgrounds in my movies so as to give my images new backgrounds different from their original backgrounds. I use FireWorks' "Magic Wand" tool to cut-off my backgrounds, then import them to Flash for my animations. What I want my images to do after importing is that they do not carry their backgrounds from Fireworks into Flash, but take-up the backgrounds I have created in flash. I have tried the alpha backgrounds in FW but the edges are not smooth as I would want it to be. Is this possible and if it is, how can I do that?I'm just hoping somebody understands what I have just explained. Many thanks in advance to whoever helps.

Importing Images On The Fly
I am creating a web site for an art gallery whose image content is constantly changing. I created an image scroller, but it is way too time-consuming to repurpose this thing every time I have new images. I am looking for a script that will read in the images from a given location, so no matter what images are there it will automatically update. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Hey can anyone tell why, when you import an image into flash, it turns all blurry, how can you fix this? I know you can use bitmap based images on flash cause ive seen some sites that use animated with images that definately aren't vector based.

I'm working with another person on a small project. He is preparing raster images for me. Is it better for me to import an image that has been created to-size accept at a higer resolution, 100 or 150 dpi (letting Flash perform the compression) or should I have him make the images to exact size and resolution?
The images I'm working with are sample page layout designs so, while the copy on them is not quite as important as the appearance of the layout, if the copy looks real blurry I'm guessing that it will effect the overall appearance of the image.

Is there any way to import images into a flash movie, from an external source once the movie is running. Also i would need to have flash preload those images. What i want to do is have an image viewer, where you use flash to select an image then, when you click on it it opens in a new window, bigger. I want to import the image, because i don't want the viewer to have to load the image twice.
Thanks
P.S. How do you put those flash images in your signatures.

is it possible to have flash call external images and display them to a pre set size within a flash movie, and also have an admin area where the user can upload images on their local machine to the server and have flash call them into the stage, just like a messege board, but with image?
if anyone can help me please mail me at info@codec1.co.uk

I find it cool to import images from the web, but is there any way to save them (for the time not on line)?
Importing Images
I was wondering if its better practice to compress the files as much as you can before import, and let flash use that file as is... or its better to import it at high quality, and let flash compress it. I don't know if flash does a better or worse job compressing then photoshop.
...if it is better to import an uncompressed file, which fileformat is best? JPG, PNG or is there some trick by going thru another program like illustrator or something ;/
Guess it comes with experience... but thought i'd ask first
TIA

I created a collage in photoshop that I'd like to import into Flash. However, no matter how I save it (gif, etc.) after flattening the image, the whole thing looks digitized in Flash. Any suggestions?

Whenever i import an image, it always imports it and appears in a really small size. Much smaller than its actual size. How the hell do i get it to show imported pictures onto the workspace in their actual size. Coz i have to scale it out and its stuffing my movies around.
Importing Images
When I insert images, they tend to get distrorted. I've tried 72dpi and 300dpi, jpg, bmp, gif, and even extra large sizes so I can reduce the size once I've imported it. Nothing seems to work. What is the "proper" way to import images?
Here's an example of what I've done:
http://www.automaticbankcard.com/flash.html
(go to the "directory" link and look at those images on the mouseover)

We're having a debate in the office. Let's say you're laying out a flash piece that will work as a photo gallery -- simple button navigation between images. Now, flash doesn't allow you to import those images from an ftp source, correct? They have to be imported WHEN YOU'RE AUTHORING THE MOVIE -- you can't just plug in images as you would on an HTML webpage, using paths to an external source. Correct?

I'm trying to create a hole in a bitmap image by doing the "trace bitmap" and then selecting the area I want to get rid of...then converting the bitmap to a graphic. The idea is to have images behind that image only appearing through the hole that was created.
Is there a photoshop file format I can import that will have a transparent area?
Is there a better way to do this? It seems to be time consuming and tracing the bitmap isn't an exact science...I'm pretty new so any help will be appreciated!
Thanks!
Importing Images With XML
hi,
i have struck a problem...
i am creating a catalogue slide show of images, where flash calls upon a XML document for the location of the images. the problem is resizing the images. i can do this in photoshop but only if i reduce the dpi/px aswell. this causes a problem because it reduces the quality of the image. if i do resize the image by keeping the dpi/px in photoshop flash imports the image in the form of dpi/px not cm's!!! can i overide flash in actionscript telling it to import the image's size in cm's or inchs rather than dpi/px?
please help!!

Importing Images
When I am using photoshop.... I am able to make portions of the image transparent. That way... when I put the image in a web page.... the background of that page shows through the transparent portions.
Here's my problem:
When I import those same images into flash... those transparent portions are no longer transparent but rather white.
Can someone tell me if there is a way of maintaining transparency or can I remove those portions that I want without making a mess of the image in the process?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi.
I have imported some png files.
My movie's dimensions are 800x600 and the images look nice.
But as you can understand when I maximize the window the images seem pixelated.
Is it possible not to make the window maximized (making inactive the maximize button)?
Any other useful suggestions?
Thanks.

Importing Images From XML
Hey everyone I'm trying to figure out how to load a list images form an XML file and have all the images loaded into there own MC that I can later call individually I have seen some examples of doing a photo gallery with thumbnails but can seem to modify it to do just large images and store them off stage for later use. Can any one post code or point me to code that will do this?

[CS3] Importing Images And DNS
I've been working on a Flash movie that loads images that are designated in an XML document. The URL to the images was hard coded with the full URL. Before we pointed our domain name to the server I was using the DNS numbers to point to the images and it worked fine both on my computer and when I uploaded it.
However, now that we have our domain name pointed to the server the images won't import. I've tried using the domain name, the numbers, and even relative URLs from where the flash file is embedded...nothing works.
I've tried adding System.security.allowDomain statements and changing the embed code to allowScriptAccess = "always".
I'm at my wits end. Please somebody...what am I missing? Thanks ahead!
Importing Images Into A Swf
Is there anyway of producing a stand alone swf movie in flash 8 that when, for example, a button is pressed will upload images and store them in a new or the original swf movie. I have tried dynamically loading the images but this requires links to the original image files and the swf cannot be moved from the image folder. (which is required). I understand that it is a strange problem and it may not be possible, but any help will be appreciated.
Importing Images In To MX
Hey guys
Haven't been on the forum for ages, but I hope you'll be the usual font of knowledge.
Part of my problem is that I haven't used Flash for ages, so I'm a little rusty around the edges.
Basically I am putting together a microsite at the moment, and my problem is that I need to import an image in to my Flash movie and keep the crispness of the image.
I remeber a while ago reading that the png format was the best for this, can anyone give me any quick tips on this one.

Ok, so i want to import an image from photoshop into Flash. I used .jpg but when i export the movie, the quality of the .jpg decreaces, it goes all blotchy and wierd, even after i set the JPEG quality to 100 in the export window thing. How can i make it perfect quality? Do i have to externally load the .jpg? If so, how do i do that?
I have also tried doing it to .gif but that came out even worse than .jpg.
Thanks

Importing Images +..
Hi all,
Allright, when I look around on the web for 'designer' sites etc, you get the most bE-A-utiful pages, with moving stuff, off the hook bling bling buttons etc etc etc. BUT... its always FLASH.
So my theory..they use PS to do make the layout/design etc.
Then import it in flash somehow, and make it all 'just' work.
When I make a layout for some page, I use photoshop.
When I slice it up, and make the links/frames etc in Dreamweaver.
But now I`m working on a MGS (metal gear solid) resource site, and I want to use flash and moving objects etc.
My first id was to use a map of the earth, make it flash couple of times and then, well yea...juse fade in.out wotever.
So first thing I tried :
1. Save the complete thing as one image, and import it in FLash (in flash set tje correct size ie 1024x768). SO I did that,s aved it etc... didnt came out very wel . Everything was wayy too small.
2. I sliced everything, imported all those into flash...same .
So my question..how the hell do they get it so 'right' ?
Everything just fits etc.
Also, whats the best way to make a rollover function?
Make 2 images in PS, then make the button in Flash?
Thx already!

hey, im having a problem with importing pics to flash,

Hey guys.
I'm pretty new to flash, I've only ever really played about with Motion tweening and such like.
Anyway I have a query about importing images (generally .jpg) into Flash. I notice they often lose their quality, and when I preview the movie they are not always positioned in the correct place?
I understand Flash prefers Vector, and this could be why - is there something I'm doing wrong, a way to avoid it, or is it normal?
Thanks!
Importing 700+ Images
Hello,
I'm currently working on a project where a video has been rendered out as a series of transparent png's to be imported into flash for usage. On a layer behind it was supposed to be an animated background while the png animation plays out.
Only way i saw how to do this but the amount of images is too heavy for flash to process. Is there anyway around this or anyway to fix this?

When I import my images into flash, they become fuzzy. What’s the best way to set my image, so it will be sharp?
I am currently using PNG-24 at 72dpi.
Is it better to make my image the correct size before bringing it to flash? Or, is it ok to shrink in flash?

Importing Images On-the-Fly
Hi.
I've got a flash movie and need to display an image within it. This photograph should be a JPEG that is retrieved dynamically (at play time) from a specific URL. So I was thinking I could do something as such...
Within the HTML object/embed call, place something like...
<param name="photo" value="http://www.abcdef.com/logo.jpg">
And then have the flash animation read this parameter, retrieve the image from that URL and display it.
Can this be done? And if so, how would this be?
Please help.
Thanks,
Ralph
