Importing An AE Created Movie Clip Into Flash MX...
What would be the best pointers one could give to one who is importing an AE created movie clip into Flash MX, for something that would be used on the internet.
Preferably would like the final result to be light as possible with concern to size of file....but that was obvious right
Problem Importing Flash Files Or Captivate Files
I have Flash MX and am having problems importing Captivate files or flash files that I have exported from Captivate. When I import a flash file from Captivate it will fill in the keyframes but there is nothing on the stage. Everything is in the library but it kind of defeats the purpose for it to not be on the screen.
The other option is to export from Captivate to Flash; however, when I try to do that it tells me I need Flash MX 2004. I do...it's just not seeing it for some reason.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Bonnie
Flash Or LiveMotion
I've designed a number of sites. I'm intersted now in adding animation to my quiver. Any suggestions as to whether I should learn LiveMotion or Flash 5 as my authoring tool? Why and why not? What major benefits or lackings does one have over another? I've read some reviews in rags and on websites, it sounds like Flash is the better of the two. But, I'd just like some real-world user input. And, I'd like to only learn one software package.
Just for help, I use Adobe products exclusively - including GoLive 5. Does this give me an advantage in choosing LiveMotion? I'm actually leaning toward LiveMotion because of the Adobe interface familiarity, but also because I trust that Adobe will lessen the gap between it and Macromedia in it's next release. Maybe wishful thinking?!?!
What do you all think?????
Thanks for any help or direction.
FLASH - Flv Files & Importing External Files
Note: this is trying to be done all in Flash... please be patient as I have to explain it...
Here's the scenario... I am currently building a website for a coffee company, and as an introduction to their website, they want to play a short clip of 16 seconds, size 350x250 - fine... The real problem is that I have been asked to make it appear as if it was actual footage on TV - in effect, at super high quality with NO (and I mean, NO) Pixelation... very stringent, but they think I can somehow push the boundaries and work something out!! Also they wish for it to play as soon as the website begins (no chance of preloading!!) - without an option for the user to control the film (as in no play/stop/rew buttons, etc.)
In order to create this, I had to use Final Cut Pro - as this was the only program that passed the 'test' for what was asked... the client has a major issue with the 'fade' to black sections of the film - believing them to look as if they are shimmering (this also being the initial problem with building it directly in Flash). I passed this through all types of compression to achieve the smallest possible file (12MG) - and then from Quick Time Pro - I came up with an immaculate looking, but incredibly large flv file - using the export feature. Total... 82MB, yes MB...
Please note, I am fully aware of compression, but have to iterate this incredible request!!
Rather than attach it to the timeline in Flash, I placed the created FLV file in the same folder and requested on the first line of the timeline - through Actionscript - that it plays the FLV 'progressively'. To my understanding, this file should play whilst not having to load up before hand... (learnt of this from Macromedia website.)
I have seen this method used in a few tutorials, but admittedly the file sizes are approximately 5MB...
After uploading the file (took over an hour), I tested the film and it began to play extremely slow and choppy. After 16 seconds (the expected duration of the clip) the next scene in the timeline began !! The film had actually only progressed about 3 seconds into itself....
I don't think I am necessarily doing much wrong as it is the best solution that I could come up with in terms of keeping the final 'SWF' file to a minimum size so a user will not have to wait it to load up (got Flash files to 24MB - but still too long to load up!!!)
Can anyone think of an alternative method to playing an 82 MB file, or is this just plain ridiculous??
I am at a loss because I am still curious to see if this is actually feasible... if so then maybe you will help me push the boundaries of Internet viewing!!!
ALL comments/suggested will be highly appreciated and definitely considered

LiveMotion To Flash Converter?
Hi,
I have some movies I created years ago in Adobe LiveMotion (yes, I know, I also bought an Edsel once). Now I work in Flash 8 Pro. Does anyone know if a converter exists for converting .liv files to .fla files, and, if so, where I would find it?
Thanks!

LiveMotion 2 VS. Flash POLL - VOTE NOW
LiveMotion 2 now has full support for AcrionScript and some tools that make it easier to work with in some ways than Flash. Adobe has now put it at close range to heavily compete with Flash and I'm wondering how many people would use LiveMotion in replacement of Flash.
This is a poll to see what the general concensis is and only for my own interest and the interest of others on the boards.
Importing Files/ Opening Files In Files/ Adding Files Into Scenes.
Alright Here is the deal.
I got some movies, which are seperate FLA. files, and I want to eventually add all these 4 seperate files, into scenes in one main FLA. file. How do I do this so that I have the symbols ect. I am pretty sure you can't just copy/paste.
Which FLASH** guru out there can lead me in the right direction?
greatly appreciated...

Using Shockwave Files Created In Director In Flash Pages
I have made an interactive game in director and published it as a shockwave file, the only option I could find was in the form of a web page, I have made a flash website which links to this external web page, is it possible to import the file directly into my flash document?
Do I need another plugin for director to create a more adabtable file?
I want to burn my website and all links to CD for viewing offline by a third party what paths should I used to make the links from the CD?
thanks,

Loading HTML Formated Text Files Created By Flash
I'll TRY to keep this simple...
How I create the file:
------------------------
1st, I created a movie in Flash that has a HTML formated input box. So when I type things into that field, Flash automatically generates the HTML into the variable for the input box.
Next, I take that variable and display the HTML code in a dynamic text field. Then I copy and paste it into a text file, assign it a variable (myText=....), then I save it to my harddrive.
Got me so far?
The Problem
-------------------------
I have another movie that is just supposed to load the txt file and display the code in an Dynamic HTML text field. However... Flash can't seem to read the HTML that it creates? But it can read the HTML that I simplify and hand write. Does anyone know what I can do to use the Flash generated HTML?
Below is the HTML that Flash Generates from the input box, and below that is the HTML that I hand coded.

Importing Mpg Files Into Flash
I'm trying to import a mpg file into flash mx. The import works fine but when I publish it, the audio and video don't sync up. The video seems to be a bit faster than the audio which throws off the whole video file. The original mpg before importing into flash is perfect.
Any ideas on how to resolve this?
Help Importing Ai Files Into Flash 8
I have just made the switch from Flash MX to Flash 8. I am working on a project that requires me to import Adobe Illustrator CS files. However when I do so, the font doesn't convert, I just get a bunch of square boxs and some asian characters along with this output error message:
**** File did not complete the page properly and may be damaged.
**** This file had errors that were repaired or ignored.
**** The file was produced by:
**** >>>>
Adobe PDF library 6.66
<<<<
**** Please notify the author of the software that produced this
**** file that it does not conform to Adobe's published PDF
**** specification.
I'm not sure why this is happening. The ai file was created in 10, saved as 5 and modified by me in 11. I've tied changing the font to no avail. I've tried to convert the fonts to outlines but they become jagged and distorted. The original 10 files opens fine but I need the file to be in its modified state. twf ... Any ideas as to how to get around this?
Thanks in advance.

Flash CS3 Importing Files
I've noticed that since I have upgraded to Flash CS3, when I go to FILE and then IMPORT (either to stage or library), Flash seems to hang up for 20-30 seconds before I see the dialog window where I can browse for files. This only happens the first time I try to import after opening Flash. After I import a file and then go to import another file, I don't get the hang up like before. Has anything come across this?
Importing Flash Files
Hello all,

I have imported flash animation files to html web pages before, but those animations did not contain any buttons. Please comment if it is possible to do what I have just described, thank you in advance for your help.

Importing Video In An Already Created Fla Not Working
Hi guys,
I have been trying to import video to a movie clip but it doesn't work. I import the video to the library but when I place the flv component in the mc timeline and add the correct path to the movie nothing happens. I can import video to a new fla (and I have tried all different options available to import). The FLV component is created and the path to the video is correct but it won't show. It only shows when I start a blank fla and import the video...why is this?. What am I doing wrong?.
Just to add that i want everything to work locally from my Mac. I don't want to import the vid from any server and i don't want to embed it in the timeline as there are quite a few videos...
The thing is, why does the importing work in a blank fla, in the main timeline but will not work in the timeline of a movie clip?. Am I missing something very obvious...?...please help me, I'm stuck...
thanks a lot

Importing Illustrator Files Into Flash
Does anyone have any thoughts about exporting illustrator files into flash?
I notice that every part of my illustrator image comes in as a group/overlay object, I'm a newbie so I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing. I also noticed that you can save .swf files from illustrator is this a better way to go about it. ? I (might) have a job doing some illustrations for a flash project and as I have never used the drawing tools in flash (always imported from illustrator or photoshop) I need to know everything I can about this process.

Importing Video / Flash Files
Hi,
I'm making a portfolio site and have two movies which I have two animations that I have made in Flash. They have been used using various symbols and images and are quite complicated so I can't just drop a movie clip onto the site. What is the best way to import the two Flash .swf files into my site?
Do I just convert them to a .mov file and upload them?

Importing SWF Files Into A Flash File
Hi ActionScript.org persons,
I am part of a team called CloudCast Studios ( but that doesn't matter now ). What I am trying to do is take a swf file that my friend sent me and put it into another flash document. I want to do this because I need to add some of the animations we have made into a whole collection. Is this possible, and if so, how would I go about doing it without getting the flash file itself?
Thank you!
Importing Flash Video Files
Hello
I have flash video file on my hard drive and I would like to import it into a flash movie I am working on. I went to file, import video, then a new window appears, asking me to browse to the file I wish to import. I have done this, but then what. This new form/field/window does not tell me what to do next. I suspect there is a something toward the bottom of the screen that I cannot access. I have tried moving this form around but I cannot make any progress.
Thanks

Importing Captivate2 Files To Flash 8
I had issues exporting from Captivate to Flash 8. Found the workaround, but the import into Flash 8 doesn't capture mouse movements.
I downloaded a trial version of Adobe Captivate 2, which exports to Flash 8, but Flash 8 won't take the import. This is the error that I get...
"Unable to import the Captivate project. The following error occurred: The Captivate project file appears corrupt, or from an incompatible version. Please contact Macromedia Technical Support."
Any ideas? Thanks.
