Is there someway for a assignment (done in flash) to inform a teacher when a student has finished it?
Sorry if thats a bit general, but just getting an idea.
Would it involve some database work?

Hi all,
I have used this forum in the past and it has been an enormous help. Thank you all very much. I am again hoping that someone out there can help me solve this issue.
I need to record and play back students' voices. The students will use this to improve their English pronunciation. I know I can use the Microphone class (?) to capture the audio, but I can't seem to work out how to save the audio captured in the movie clip and play it back to the student. I also need this to be client-side. If this is not possible in Flash MX or Flash 8, is there any other way I can do this? Thanks again for your help. Any and all suggestions will be gratefully received.

Record User Voice, Inform If They Are In Tune
Hi,
I am not a Flash professional by any means. In fact, I have very little experience. I have a client that would like to design software that would allow the user to sing into their computer microphone and tell them if they are in tune or not (and what note they are singing).
I have been browsing for a couple of hours and have found a few snippets on recording voice and uploading, but I have not been able to find anything of this kind.
1) Is this even possible? It needs to operate from the web and be very fast and responsive.
2) Where do I start as far as resources go?

Can Someone Help Out An Old Teacher?
Hi, I am relatively new to Flash. I can do several things and understand the basics of using Flash itself. My question is this..please no laughing. I simply want to create a vertical navigation menu on the left side of a webpage that will call up different html pages to fill the page to the right of the left column navigation. Can someone help me! The entire site would just be a header graphic at the top of the page, the left side column navigation menu that would call up the urls in a box that would fill the space to the right. I would like the whole thing to fit on a page that is viewable in 800x600 space. I would like it to have space around it in a 1024x768 screen (left and right anyway). The site would look sort of like a piece of interactive paper on a desk. I might even be willing to pay a few bucks for a template, but would really like to have something or someone to learn from. Teacher Needs Help With A Button
I posted in the regular forum, but figured this was pretty simple so I should move it here.
Sorry if this is stupid, but I'm still learning. I've figured out how an over animation, but here's what I'm wanting to do. I'm a teacher and it's for a game for my class.
- Have an object, like blank card. No over animation.
- When the card is clicked, it flips to show another image (such as a jpeg, like the back side of the card) and stays like that. Think of a concentration game.
Basically, I'm not sure how to make it do the flip transformation when it is clicked. Could someone point me to a tutorial, or make a quick one I can dissect? Thanks for any help.
Elementary Teacher Needing Help
I tried posting in the freelance section, but the prices I was quoted were just a tad out of a teachers price range. I thought I'd give it another shot doing it myself, but if anyone would like to offer to help, that would be awesome. I've tried doing it myself, but found unless you're a regular user of flash, it's too much to learn casually. I'm at my frustration limit. Here's what I want to do (a couple projects for my kids):
- One thing to keep in mind, neither project needs artwork. I just want a template, or framework set up. Then I can just plug in things later. I'd rather just have placeholders.
Project 1 - This one I almost have done, but it's gotten too frustrating. I figure it wouldn't take someone 15 minutes to finish (of course, I could be wrong). Basically, it's a panoramic of a bookshelf (already made and working, the scrolling part anyways). I need buttons placed on the panoramic that when clicked, go to a tree of slides. If someone could just make one tree, I assume I could just copy and past the rest. They can just be blank.
Project 2 - If you've ever seen either of the Prime Suspect games, bingo. The way I figure it would be an opening screen with different locations. Click to go to that location. Then you've just got a screen with maybe 10 items. Click on the items, they disappear (or float away). Click anywhere else and lose time. So it would need a timer.
If anyone would be interested in helping me out, it would be very much appriciated.
Help Teacher With Creating Basic Quiz (U Help Me Ill Help U)

I have a few questions for you. If you help me create an easy to use template, I am willing to pay!
I am looking at creating all my tests on Flash for the upcoming school year. I want to be able to have the students take the tests (randomly generated to avoid cheating) and be able to submit the answers to me by emailing it to me and they would in turn get an immediate grade with the correct answers. I basically want to take my paper test and transfer it on the computer to simpilize the grading process so the students dont need to fill out those bubble sheets!
What is my best option from the above description?
If I have different amount of questions in each quiz, what do I need to change?
This would be a very simple test, multiple choice with 4 options each and anywhere from 20 - 50 questions.
Is there an easy solution to doing this?

Teacher Wants Drag & Drop Quiz
I'm looking to create a simple Flash program that allows students to drag text statements from one area to one of two other areas - say 'good' and 'bad' areas. If the statement is in the correct area then the student scrores 50 points. If it is wrong then the student has 50 points taken away.
I have attached a design I am thinking of using but there is no action script in it to make it work. (Anyone studying the new Edexcel DiDa course that has access to the Telford resources may recognise it!)
Anyone like to have a go or at least get me started?

I'm trying to create a simple ruler with a slider_mc(drag) that when the student drags the slider_mc to the blue line (one inch position on ruler pic) the words "1 inch" (dynamic text) will appear in the slider.
Image Setup on frame one:
1. ruler pic with blue slashes indicating one inch
2. slider pic converted to _slider_mc for drag
3. invisible button on top of _slider_mc for drag

Here's what happening:
1. when tested the slider starts in the area of 6 inches and then when the user presses on the slider "6 inches" appears on the slider.
2. if the user presses on slider, moves it to one inch position, it still reads "6 inches"
3. i think i may need two frames or i may need a button to trigger the code processing or i am totally confused
I would any and all help with this coding so that I can teach kids how to use a ruler via a simulation.

Whack A Teacher Game Actionscripting Help
Hello,
I am making a whack a mole type game with various teachers from my high school. I need help trying to perfect my coding.
I am using dynamic text with the varriable "hit." Every time the teacher is whacked, it adds one point. I need to make it so when you get 20 points you advance to the next level on a different scene (using the gotoAndplay comand). If anyone knows how I could use the if comand to go to another frame once I get 20 points it would be really appreciated...

Hi I’m a SCAD (savannah’s college of art and design) student looking for crisp high resolution pictures of a F4U-1A Corsair ( I believe this is the one with the three blades) I’m recreating this war bird in 3D space and I need everyone’s help in order to finish this project. If anyone could take photos or redirect me to sites that have up close shots of the nose of the corsair would be great! I need to see what the mold looks like that holds the blades together. I can’t find any sites that have any up-close detail of beautiful craftsmanship of the engine and blades.
** This is for a demo in flash and theses pictures will show highlighted detail that I need to express to a group of people. So using a combo with flash and theses photos would help

Hi, I am a student, at college in sussex. And i am currently on my final project of my course and i wish to involve flash. I want to constantly get information from a text sheet into flash and constanly play the information in a flash movie. To make it "live". For Instance if the text file has the letter "g" in it, then flash play a the colour blue. Everytime the text file changes, like the letter "a" appears ont he text file, flash produce the colour blue.

I've made a website in MX for my final university project, but I've got a problem. I have buttons moving all over one half of the stage, and I need to be able to rollover them and have an image appear on the other half of the stage, but I need it to stay in the same place, even though its button is moving around.

University Student In Need With Help With As3

i'm a brighton university student and currently building a flash mulitmedia application.
i have designed a bedroom and have made all the functions in the room, however i have lamp shade and can not work out how to allow the mouse to move the lamp shade around the room by pulling it with the mouse and then having the lamp shade retract back to the original position.

I am an experienced, out of work graphic design print artist looking to reinvent myself for designing web pages and consistently see jobs advertised for people who know Flash. Student Uni Project: Assistance

I am currently creating an interactive cd rom for my final year uni project and am experiencing problems with the actionscripting for sounds. I'm not very expreienced with actionscript so need your expert advice if anyone can help..
I am trying to load a sound on release of a button. There are two buttons with instance names of "hearing" and "deaf" also.. i have added an ID identifier to the sound clip which i want to play "sound1" Theres only one sound clip at the moment as still working on it.
Problem tends to be that when I apply the actionscript to the actions layer, the interaction movie seems to jump scenes or play a scene that is not in the set order if that makes sense..
heres the actionscript that i have applied into actions layer of the "home" scene where the buttons are located.

Help Student With Question About Feasability.
I am a senior graphic design student who has been assigned to create an interactive installation piece. I have gone through the concept development and have hit a wall. I have limited knowledge Java/ActionScript.
A projection shows a constantly flowing progression of news tickers from around the world. These tickers are culled from the internet and RSS feeds so as to be current. When a person moves through a field observed by an iSight camera, an application discerns their profile and then translates it into an outline that is then projected into the news tickers. This outline displaces the text, allowing it to wrap around the outline as the person moves through the sensor field.
I need to know if i could feasibly create in flash translates a signal recieved from an iSight camera of a person into an outline that would be able to displace text in an animated live environment. Any advice (or code!) you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Performance Tracking Of Student
Hi,
I am using Flash 8 to simulate a Windows desktop environment in order to test students in particular ict skills. Usually each question tests only one or two skills. At the moment I am using a lot of images to simulate the drop down menus and highlighting of each command. Extremely laborous but functional. I use action script to track if the student has performed the required actions and transmit a result into a database.
My question is this:
Is their any other way to simulate, for e.g. managing a file, creating a folder in windows explorer or changing a file name, apart from what I am already doing i.e. using screen shots?

if the student choose wrong answer mc appeare tell him that. and he couldent press any button from the choices button that under the mc until he press the button on the mc whiche let him go back to the question to choose another choice .

I would like to have them played at different times on the main time line. Although I would like to have the main movie clip continue as a constant. I am unsure of how to achieve this. Professional MX 2004 Student Version
I am in a community college working on action scripting in the Flash Professional MX 2004 student version. Last semester I took Flash MX. Action Scripting seemed easier in MX. My question - is there a similar version of action scripting MX located somewhere in the Flash Professional 2004 student version? If so how do you turn professional off and turn MX on?

Student Flash Interior Movie Help
In older versions of Flash, shapes were very volatile. If two shapes on the same layer overlapped each other, they would actually cut chunks out of each other. Flash 8, on the other hand, now has object drawing mode, which allows you to create a shape as a self-contained object that won't interfere with other objects.
Adobe Suite CS4 - Student License
My daughter is taking a graphics course starting in December. She's looking at the CS4 suite and of course would like to purchase the student version. Question is, once she is finished school and would like to develop graphics/websites for money is she going to need to purchase the full version license or can she use the student version for that?
