Problem Inserting Flash Into Html Page
Hi,
I have a 120X90 flash design that i am trying to ad to a table on one
of my frames. i created the ad using swish and i added the link to the flash .SWF file in the img src part of the table.
but it won't play the flash i just get that red X

Inserting A Flash Audio App Into A HTML Only Page?
Hey folks, I have a site that is strickly HTML and nothing more. No flash at all. I want to add one of those (for lack of better term) little audio icons that will turn on/off music.

now I know how to do this in flash but...... when it comes to combining it with a HTML page I'm lost.

I have no frames set up on my pages either. but I wan't when someone goes to the index.html page I wan't the music to start playing (with the icon to turn on/off) but when someone goes to a different page of my site I want the song to keep playing.

So can someone give me some info on how to do this?

This is probably a silly question, but how can you take a video you have encoded into flash and insert it into an HTML page? I tested the video with the "test movie" in flash and there it was, video and controls and all. How do you now take this to the HTML page to place it where you want on there?

This is a bit of a tough one ...
Im trying to print the content of a large scroll pane that spans multiple pages. So far i have managed to get the contents printing out, dividing the content between the pages using the PrintJob class.
My problem now is that i want to add a header and footer (both movie clips) on each page and want to add page break like ms-word.

First of all I found Swish very easy to use compared to Flash 5.0

I created a movie with swish and was wondering how to insert into Dreamweaver. Here is what I need to do, I have a website the default page is index.htm. I want the movie to play first when people type in the web address. What needs to be done.

Also how do I include in the movie the option to skip intro?

And finally to turn the loop off. I only want the movie to run once, it kepts replaying.

Um.. Not sure if I'm posting this in the right section but it's just something minor which will take a minute or two

Basically I have a flash template and I'll like to insert contact form to my contact us page. I check into several tutorials and sample files from kirupa and other sites but when I place it in it doesn't work.. It do work if the form is in main area not inside movie clip.

Can you have a URL load into a SWiSH movie? Is this possible? The other question is can you preload one than one movie into the users cache - I have several movies for several pages but want to only have one loading time not each time a different page is loaded.

Inserting Flash To Html On The Web
How do I take a sidebar I've made in flash and add it to an internet where you have to load it to their server (freewebs.com) and the use it from there. We have the main page and everything, but I just don't know how to use the code to find the flash movie. The one time I had anything, it worked for a bit, then after trying to add it, it just had a white box where the movie would be and the web page never loaded. Thanks.

I've designed a website in flash, and I want to integrate it in html to be published. It works fne in my computer and another one i have, but a friend of mine sees the movie centered in the screen half the size it was supposed to be, and with the background colour all around it (the animation should occupy the whole screen vertical and horizantly). He uses ie on a 1024x768, and I've tested it under those conditions in my computer and it works.

Lots of people seem to have problems with this, and after reading loads of posts none of them seemed to work. the html code being used is:

Inserting A Flash Into My Html Template
Im ready to toss the monitor out the window here.
This is my problem. I am building a flash intro. In my html, there is a table with 3 rows and 3 columns. In the middle, row 2 column 2, sits the flash animation. The image or flash animation area is supposed to be 300x300. So I make my flash animation movie size 300x300. When I publish the damn thing and bring it in, and view it in the browser, the flash animation is down by a pixel! Always down one pixel. I've tried to move the background down to match it, then the animation is up a pixel! Im going crazy here...why is the animation always off by a pixel????

I want to build a simple text editor in flash using basic HTML tags such as <b>,<u>,<i>,<a>,...

Now I was wondering how to make a script that can insert a tag at the beginning and at the end of a selection in an input textfield. I tried to look for existing HTML editors made in flash, but they are all protected in some way.

Can somebody help me on the way?

Flash Nav Inserting Html Links Into Div -example-
I have made a flash navigation bar and I want it to link to the pages on the same page:

Of course I understand frames are outdated. I have read through CCS and read about SSI, but I cannot find how to open content into a Div. You can see what my objective is when you visit the website above.

Two problems:

1.) What is the codeing for linking a flash button to a corresponding div or frame? (I tried programing the MANUFACTURING link to open in the _Parent frame and than tried the name of the frame "mainFrame".)

2.) Can I make sure that the entire navigation is viewable? I had to put this stupid scroll bar in.

I appreciate any advice as I have already checked out every book on the subject and spent two days searching the internet.

Hi Everyone! I'm new here and am hoping someone out there might be able to help. I'm building my own website (never done it before, so all the jargon is new to me) and have purchased a ready made Flash video to use on my opening page. Unfortunately I simply cannot figure out how to get it there. I've got as far as seeing a video type box similar to the ones you'd see on YouTube but that's not how the file looks when I view it in its html format. I'm using one of Serif's DIY packages. Am not sure if this doesn't support it???? Can anyone give me some advice please????

Html Errors When Inserting Flash
I've been using DW code validation, and find it states the way it inserts flash is invalid.

This line, it does not like the embed tags, or the width/height tags.

Inserting Html Tags Into XML Nodes?
I have a complex php page that creates an XML file for loading into my flash swf file. I have no trouble passing all the data forward but my problem lies in the data attribute containing html tags.

for example, I want the user to be able to submit text that looks like this ---

I want <b>BOLD</b> here. but when my xml file writes itself it becomes

data="I want <b>BOLD</b> here." /> and these carrots close the data attribute too soon and basically break the XML file...

I am going through an elaborate text replacing deal now...and making the user input things like _bold_start_ and _bold_end_ instead...but this seems really cumbersome....

Is there another simpler way to get these tags to load into my XML without breaking them?

I guess I could write my php page to detect them on submit and rewrite them into my xml file so teh user doesn't have to, but still, I was hoping I was just ignoraant on XML syntax....

the data="text" needs to be able to be the HTML type text that loads into my swf file evenutally...

so ideally there would be syntax that would do this...

data="this text is HTML format, and this text is <>BOLD</>" and have it appear in the text area as

this text is HTML forat, and this text is <b>BOLD</b> and then render out as HTML...

Does this all make sense?

Inserting Flash Movie In HTML Document
This seems simple enough, but I am having the darned-est time with making a Flash movie appear when I insert it into my HTML document.

The movie contains 3 simple buttons. I have saved it as a .swf file, published it, and exported it as a movie (though I'm still fuzzy on why I have to save, publish, and export - what's the difference?!)

In DreamWeaver I then insert the movie as a Flash file, but it doesn't appear when I view the doc in my browser. I have made sure that I saved the Flash file in my root folder and that I'm inserting the .swf version, but I've had no luck.

From the description I've given can anyone tell me what I need to do differently? If you need more info, please let me know.

By the way, I've also tried breaking the movie up into separate elements - the gradient background (a sidebar), plus 3 buttons that link to URLs. No luck with this either.

I'm trying to create a text box in Flash with editing features similar to the way you insert (i)Italic Tags(/i), (b)Bold Tags(/b) and ULR Links in this forum...

In brief I'm trying to:

1) Select a word in a dynamic text box message (for example the word "BIG")

2) With the word "BIG" selected, click a small bold button of some sort...

3) As a result of clicking the button, the word won't appear bold, BUT <b>bold tags</b> will appear around it.

Any ideas?

New To Flash - Inserting A Navigation Onto A Html Hidden Layer
Apologies if I use the wrong terminology - I'm used to html/css coding, and haven't ventured into Flash yet, but a client has requested a very specific navigation system and I think Flash is the only way to achieve it.

It's a fairly straightforward html/css site and the client wants to have a semi-transparent navigation overlay on the page (hidden layer) accessible by clicking on the company logo. The overlay will be an image of a globe with text links at different angles - hence the need for Flash rather than html. The text should have mouseover behaviours and link to other pages within the site.

So, since I'm a solid gold newbie, is there a step-by-step tutorial on achieving this? I think that it's a relatively straightforward process, just one that I don't know!

Will Swf Loaded Into One Html Page Be Cached For Another Html Page
Trying to decide how best to structure a flash website and would like to know if loaded swf elements are cached.

Basically I was going to structure the site into 5 separate sections each a separate flash file on a separate html page.

i.e

Homepage.html (this holds homepage.swf)
Services.html (this holds services.swf)
Portfolio.html (this holds portfolio.swf)
ComingSoon.html (this holds comingsoon.swf)
Contact.html (this holds contact.swf)

Each of these main flash files will share certain elements such as the navigation buttons, the main interface etc.

My question is, once a shared swf element has been loaded into homepage.html, is this shared element then in the browsers cache and does not require to be downloaded again when the user navigates to say services.html?

The main reason I am structuring it this way is to allow bookmarking of each of the main sections and also to keep the initial download file size down rather than have to download all 5 sections as one movie.

This means my swf files are NOT contained within html.
I would like to, when clicking on button, open a popup html page with specific dimensions.
I was wondering if it is possible to do that, and what AS to use,
or if I have the obligation, to openpopups, to launch my swf files WITHIN html mother page.

What is the best way to name the entry non-Flash (HTML) page - the splash or index page, whatever it's called - that is the gateway to the final Flash site, which will open in a new window? When users type in the basic web URL - for example, http://www.mysite.com - I want them to come upon an entry page that states "Click here for Flash Player 6" and "Enter if you have Flash Player 6". When the user types in the basic URL should I have the entry page called http://www.mysite.com/index.htm?

One step further... How do I configure things so that when the user comes to the entry page, Flash 6 is automatically detected on both Mac & PC platforms? Detailed answers will be much appreciated, as well as links to tutorials.

Anyway To Have A Small Html Page Embedded Into A Larger Flash Page?
I've developed a website completely in Flash. Now, I have a space in this Flash page where I would like to have, upon a certain button click, load up an HTML page...within the Flash page itself. So, I have the layout, and all the links and all that in the Flash website. In the content area of that Flash site, I want an html page to appear after clicking a certain button, thus turning the Flash into somewhat of a border. Is there any simple way to do this?
