Interactive Floor Plans W/Furniture

I recently found this website with interactive furniture layout features that I would like to produce myself, but I'm having trouble getting the duplicate command to work without deleting the previously duplicated movies.

http://www.alexancitylights.com/lc_floor-plans.asp

I would like to know if anyone has any similar movies I can copy from that use this duplicate command.

Thanks

Interactive Flash Applet - Floor Plans
I'm new to flash (but I am familiar with the easy stuff: java, xml, and html) and I'm trying to create an interactive floor plan applet similar to this site.

I just need basic functions of dragging and dropping furniture into the floor plan with the ability to rotate the furniture to fit the wall. Simple right? Any suggestions? I just need to make enough to give to my php developer and *hopefully* he'll know enough to put it on the site.

Any and all suggestions are extremely helpful.

Interactive Floor Plan -> Drag And Drop Furniture
Hi! I am a newbie and would really appreciate any help you can give me. I am attempting to build an interactive floor plan (Flash MX 2004) with drag and drop furniture. The user will use menus to navigate to different rooms and select the appropriate furniture for that room. They will be able to rotate the furniture pieces, delete furniture pieces, clear all furniture pieces and print the completed floorplan. Please see the attached FLA to see what I've managed so far (this isn't the interface, just a test). I'm clearly on the wrong track because a) I've set up each menu (room type) as a scene, and when the user clicks on a new room (button1, button2, etc.), the furniture that they've dragged and dropped disappears; and b) I can't get each furniture piece to rotate independently; and c) I need to duplicate the furniture movieclips so when it's dragged from the menu onto the floor plan, another one replaces it

Direction or advice of any kind would be much appreciated! Even helping me to understand how to set up the timeline properly (instead of using scenes like I've tried) would be SO much help. I feel like a real dolt.

Thank you in advance!!

Flash Floor Plans
I need to be able to do something like this:
http://www.builderscommunications.com/pla4.swf

Make a floor plan in FLASH where viewers can add options etc. I have no idea where to start. I'm a novice when it comes to FLASH. Can someone re-direct me to a tutorial that can start me off? Or tell me what actionscripts to use. I'm clueless when it comes to actionscript. I have the basics of FLASH down. I just don't know the advanced stuff. I'm in desperate need of help. Also, if you know of any GOOD books that can help me out as well. I would appreciate it. THanks!

Drawing Floor Plans
Hi

I'm working on a site that wants a web widget that will allow a visitor to do basic office plans etc dimension of area and drag and drop of furniture.

Has anybody seen anything like this or can they suggest a strategy?

It may get to the poin where I need to outsource this as I'm only a basic actionscript kinda guy - any suggestions as to where I could find a good freelancer?

Thanks

John

Interactive Floor Projections: How To?
First of all, I didn't know where to put this post. I did it here because I'll implement this on AS3. If it's wrong, please move it to the right place.

Well, I've been requested to do some interactive pieces like these:

<http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xYg3BNjm5w&feature=related>
<http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--gACt4x1kA&feature=related>
<http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JiUeqicgYUA&feature=related>

It has a projector on the ceil, and the events are generated by the shadows. The client told us that we have to do it with mouse events. What I don't understand is if they are mouse events, what happens when there are multiple users casting shadows at the same time? How does a "shape" (the shadow) generate mouse events?

Hosting Plans?
Hey anyone know a a pretty good hosting service with PHP installed and all that for a good price?

ArmorGames New Sponsorship Plans
- http://www.armorgames.com/ -
- http://www.armorgames.com/contest3.html -

Greetings friends : )

I wanted to buzz in and tell you about the updates in ArmorGames sponsorships
since the last time I've made a post about it a few months back : )

Armor Games is a professional and large-scaled website that has been promoting
flash content and flash in general for over a year now. We do so through running
http://www.armorgames.com/contest3.html and sponsoring many games (over 100 games at the moment) by a
variety of very skilled flash developers all over the internet. Armor Games
believes in letting the developer keep all of the rights to his/her work. We
never take credit over stuff we haven't made directly, and we put you, the
flasher, right in the center.

By obtaining your sponsorship a game with us you can get paid a lot of good
clean* money for your hard work : ) you can get paid as much as a few thousands
of dollars for really good games. Feel free to contact ANY of our game authors,
we have had no unsatisfied sponsorees at all. The fact is, people always come
back for more : )

What are you interested in?

We are interested in you getting the right reward for your flash games. We
understand the amount of trouble people go through to create a good flash game ,
and we believe that you need to get rewarded for contributing in such a great
way to the online community. The Armor Games administration is made of honest
people, experienced in this field and in flash production in general, through us
your game will be the best it can.

By letting us sponsor your game you are getting paid for stuff you are/were
making anyway we never ever steal credit, and you still hold the full
copyright to your game, you can submit it to anywhere you'd like. The only
"don't" is selling your game to someone else after you have received our
sponsorship, which we find very reasonable.

Wait , so are you getting access to my source file/s?

We did that for some time, we don't do so anymore, the only reason one might
want access to a sponsored source is to be able to modify it, and we never
modify your work without specific permission.

So just sponsorship?

Here is a useful tip, NEVER SELL FULL COPYRIGHT TO YOUR FLASH STUFF, I have seen
site owners take credit over stuff they didn't make. Unfortunately we are not
short in sites that make you sign contracts you know nothing about and then
torture you through them, trust me, and email me at inglor@gmail.com if you have
any doubts about that, because I have seen too many scammed that way. You get
full ownership over your work.

So what's your gain

No, it's not for the AD money :P All people at ArmorGames (except our beloved
developer who we love very much and get paid for his own work) have other day
jobs, we do it for the fun we are not "professional webmasters" which allows
us to pay you prices which are fair, and not best for our gain. Many of us do so
because we are professional flashers ourselves, and got sick of the scamming
situation, we wanted to create a fair alternative and we got matters into our
own hands.

Cut to the chase, what are you looking for?

Cool fresh new creative games, got any in production? we want to listen : ) we
offer support as well as sponsorship, and if you just want to talk we'll listen.
We provide full action-script support, art support, and much resources for your
development (programs and servers on demand), we are there for you .

Who are you NOT interested in?

We're interested in everybody : ) however we can only afford to sponsor good
flash games . People who are fairly good with flash, we can't sponsor just about
everything, only fairly good stuff : ) Think, have you got what it takes?

So how does the sponsorship actually go?

-You contact us (or we contact you)
-We agree on the terms of payment
-You place a small logo on the preloader, one of the AG intros, and a play more
games button in the menu. You may place "sponsored by" on the AG images and
texts so people know that you are the one who actually made the game.
-You get paid instantly when you submit to newgrounds through PayPal : )

So what makes you better than other companies?
-We are reliable, we always pay and we always pay on time. If there is a problem
with our agreement we will always twist it towerds your end.
-We are not professional webmasters, our interests are that you get the most you
can. I have refered people to other brands before in cases I thought those
brands offer better deals, this is very rare however since we ususally offer the
best deals.
-We support the flash community, and don't harm it. ArmorGames features games we
have obtained with permission from the authors. We never steal from authors or
leech content. We believe in helping the flash community, and not our pockets.
-We have a reputation , with over a 100 sponsorships we are the most established
sponsor there is out there. We have been here for quite a while and we intend to
stay.
-We won't make you include anything you don't want on your game. Only stuff you
agree on.

Inglor,
ArmorGames.com

feel free to contact me on Inglor@gmail.com or AIM me at benjamingr8 for more
info.

*ArmorGames does not leech (steal) games from authors like a lot of other sites
do. ArmorGames is always open to criticism, ArmorGames always listens.
1)Straight up - You get paid a fixed sum you are satisfied with for your game.
2)Mobile - You get paid a smaller fixed sum + bonuses for views, frontpage and
such
3)Overlord - For really good games! fair fixed sum + a fixed amount for every
week your submission stays at the top 50 of newgrounds.com

All is negociable : ) there are also plans that integrate with the contest (www.armorgames.com/contest3.html)
just ask me on aim or email : )

*all plans come with free hosting for 1 year and a .com/.net domain for those of
you who don't have one.

Plans To Design Flash Site
Ok, well I am pretty new to flash but have been playing around with it for about a week or two.

My current site, http://mike.avalanchestudios.net, is made in HTML and I was advised by people who visited it, to make a flash version.

So, I toyed with the idea, scribbled down a few of my thoughts and decided to give it a shot...but...

I have a few questions:

1. Should I try to recreate a similar layout to the HTML version, then tweak it as time goes on, or should I make a completely different layout? Another possibility I thought of was to add flash features to the current site(i.e. the navigation menu) and eventually develop it into a flash site.

2. If I did make a flash site, should I have a HTML version(with a splash page first to direct a visitor to the right version for them) for those who don't use/like flash sites?

3. I planned to use dynamic text boxes to display content, is this the best way?

It's nothing big, just something to give me a little jump start.

Thanks.

3D Furniture Design Pls Help
Hi All

I would like to create a 'software' using flash 3d for furniture purposes! the aim is to have a set of pre-designed furniture (kitchens, cupboards etc) and during 'design mode' i can drag and drop these objects onto a designated (parameterized) room and can rotate them in place to suite the room! then a command would be given to create a 3d room!

Is this possible using flash! if not what would be the best solution?

On the other hand if this is possible using flash how should i go about it! I would really appreciate anyone who could give me a helping hand in this !

Thanks
Nick

Apartment Furniture?

Snap To Grid Furniture
ok guys,
im making a furniture system thing, basically what i have is a pieces of furniture (drawn isometrically) and a grid.
check the swf here:
http://www30.brinkster.com/mallrat68...turesystem.swf

ok i need to get the furniture to be able to be draggable and drop it and it will lock to the nearest square on the grid. I think the easiest way will be by using invisible isometric tiles placed on the bottom of the furniture.

the problems i am having are as follows:

- I need to be able to get all the furniture on the grid at the same time, so without having a million droptargets and 'if's' how do i do it?

- i need to be able to store the furniture in some kind 'base' off to the side of the grid, and so it only snaps to grid when its over it.

- i need to make the furniture swap depths according to the X position. The higher the X the deeper the layer, so the furniture moves around each other. and not over each other (not sure if that makes sense)

please someone help me out,

im a designer not a programmer, if anyone can help me, i will give them full credit, when i publish the site

3D Furniture In A Room With Snap
Hi,

I am begining a very ambitious project that involves placing furniture in a 3D room interactively. The features that I'm thinking of should be: translation in 3 axis, rotation in 1 axis (vertical), 3D snap for placing adjacent modules and all must be displayed in orthogonal and/or perspective view.

Can you give me some hints, indicate some ready-made projects, share with me some knowledge etc?

I'm using Flash MX 2004 Pro.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

Rotating Furniture In Flash MX
Hi,

I am hoping someone can help me out. I am new to Flash and ActionScript. I am trying to create a moveable furniture page for our floorplans. I would like to be able to rotate the pieces of furniture in the floorplans. I figured out how to drag the furniture into the floorplans but can't seem to rotate them. I would like to have a button that the user clicks on to rotate the furniture they choose so that it fits nicely into the floorplans.

Can anyone help out with this? I have the books FlashMX Bible and Teach Yourself Flash MX ActionScript in 24 hours and neither one seems to be helpful in this. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Here is a url to a site that offers the moveable furniture:

Curved Floor And Gravity Help
I'm trying to learn more about creating artificial gravity with actionscript. I've created a little thingy that drops a smiley face and (through using the arrow keys) moves it around. It works pretty well inside of a box. I'm now trying to figure out how to do basically the same thing on a curved surface. Not sure if it will come through but here is the url to the flash I'm at now: http://aliendisaster.com/smiley_gravity.swf

Here's the actionscript:

Code:

gravity = 9.8;
floor = floor_mc._y;
top = 0 + 73;
rightSide = 435 - 35;
leftSide = 0 + 40;
_root.speedx = 0;
_root.speedy = 0;
keyListener = new Object();
_root.onEnterFrame = function(){
_root.smiley_mc.smileyInside_mc._rotation += _root.speedx/5;
_root.speedy = _root.speedy + gravity ;
smiley_mc._x += _root.speedx/5;
_root.speedx *= .95;
smiley_mc._y += _root.speedy/5;
if (smiley_mc._y > floor) {
smiley_mc._y = floor;
_root.speedy *= -.9 ;
}
if (smiley_mc._y < top){
smiley_mc._y = top;
_root.speedy *= -.9;
}
if (smiley_mc._x > rightSide){
smiley_mc._x = rightSide;
_root.speedx *= -1;
}
if (smiley_mc._x < leftSide){
smiley_mc._x = leftSide;
_root.speedx *= -1;
}
}
keyListener.onKeyDown = function() {

}
if (keyPressed == 40 || keyPressed == 83){
_root.speedy += 50;
}
}
Key.addListener(keyListener);

I now bend the bottom line (floor_mc) and attempt to bounce the smiley (smiley_mc) off it. I've tried using hitTest instead of just the coords but recieve the same thing (it see's the mc as a rectangle). Can you do a hitTest with what's drawn and not the outline of the mc?

Any ideas on how to work with this? (If it's not too much trouble, please be detailed as I'm trying to learn.)

Block Falls Throug The Floor
I made an engine for a platform game, to have a nice jump action (http://members.lycos.nl/thezwier/spring%20engina.swf) But you`ll see, on some area`s you`ll fall throug the floor. When you go to http://members.lycos.nl/thezwier/valterdoorheen.swf and hold down the left key, you`ll see you can drop through that floor underneath it. You`ll see too, that there is clearly a hit with that floor, im using this code to see if I hit something:
(vloeren is an array with 8 floors in it, _root.vloer1 - _root.floor8)

Code:

for(i in vloeren){ //vloeren = floors
if(this.hitTest(eval(vloeren[i]))){
_y = eval(vloeren[i])._y - 10;
ydown = false;
opdevloer = true; //opdevloer = onthefloor
opstond = vloeren[i]; //opstond = last floor
break;
}
}

Math.floor To Display Two Zeros
Anyone know of a way (or better way than I am doing it) to get Math.floor to display two numbers if the Math.floor integer is 0? Math.round seems to return only one zero also.

Currently I have a condidtional to check

Code:
myNum = Math.floor(myVar/1000);
if(myNum == 0){
myNum = "00";
}

Math.floor, Variables.........fun Stuff
hey guys, if i'm trying to determine a destination frame for a button to refernce (gotoAndPlay) based on a percentage, would it be necessary for me to use Math.floor to make sure the result of the percentage is a whole number before trying to send the movie to the frame?

as some of you know, i've been working on upgrading a video player peice by piece for about a week now and i think i'm getting close to the end (finally). anyway, i'm currently working on a progress bar that is draggable to control the position of the movie. anyway, i've got all kinds of functions and variables that, to be honest, i dont really know anything about beyond what they're supposed to do based on what you guys have told me on here........anyway, one such example is an equation that calculates the appropriate frame for the movie based on where the user releases the progress bar handle (i.e. _x of the handle/160; 160 being the max _x for the handle, then multiply that result by the total frames of the movie). i ran a trace, and that part seems to output correctly, but in MOST cases it outputs something like 506.134882..........(random example).

anyway, what i was thinking is that maybe i need to round that number to the nearest whole number because there's no such frame as xxx.134. does that make sense?

if that IS the case, is it legal for me to simply add that into the AS phrase that tells the movie to go to that frame, or does it have to be included into the equation itself?

here's the two lines in question:

ActionScript Code:
var vidPercentTwo:Number = (_root.sliderMC.handleMC._x/160)*_root.tutVideo._totalframes;
_root.tutVideo.gotoAndStop(Math.floor(vidPercentTwo));

these are both included into the function for the release of the button.......basically i guess i need to know if i'm on the right track w/ the Math.floor business and can i actually include the variable name in the Math.floor() as i did in the example above, or will that give me problems??

i'm off work now, so i'll be offline till tomorrow morning, i'll check up on what you guys think then...thanks so much!!

Easy(?) Question About Math.floor(x);
I get undefined when I try this code:

x=12.5
trace(math.floor(x));

Are expressions allowed in the operator? or what am I doing wrong?

Thank you very very much!

Math.floor Simple Question
Hi Again-
For some reason my math.floor function is not working (trace yields "undefined")... Im sure its something simple, but Im not seeing it. Suggestions??? Thanks!!!

ActionScript Code:
thumbNum = 26;total = thumbNum * 200;wholeSteps = math.floor(total/600);trace (wholeSteps);

Math.floor/ceil Not Working?
OK... I cannot get "this.dx" to either round down OR up? It keeps tracing out as decimal.

Code:
if (this._x>(rightwall-(this._width/2))) {
this._x = rightwall-this._width/2;
this.dx *= -.9;
Math.ceil(this.dx);
trace(this.dx);
rotateDir = "left";
}
// hit the left wall
if (this._x<(leftwall+(this._width/2))) {
this._x = leftwall+this._width/2;
this.dx *= -.9;
Math.floor(this.dx);
trace(this.dx);
rotateDir = "right";
}
anyone know what gives????

Cheers!

How To Attach A Sound To The Ball Bouncing Off The Floor

Math.floor? Round Down To Nearest 10th
Hi Folks, Math is not my friend so I need some help.

I want to round a whole number down to the nearest whole 10th.

Like 52, becomes 50. Or 49, becomes 40. Or 2005, becomes 2000.

Does that make sense? I imagine it has a math.floor approach, but I can not figure it out.

Thanks in advance for any help!!!

What Keeps My Movie From Stopping Properly? Math.floor/interval
Hey all,

this is driving me nuts.
I have a movie, in it lies a button with which I jump to another position in the _root timeline.
At that position is a stop(); command.

The movie just wont stop while this is running in another mc1 deeper in the file
:

Code:
stop();
onEnterFrame = function() {

c=Math.floor(Math.random() * (1500 - 0)) + 150;

var Interval1 = setInterval(function () {
b=Math.floor(Math.random() * (7 - 0)) + 1;
gotoAndPlay(b);
clearInterval(Interval1);
}, c);
}
What this does in the mc1 is basically creating a random number between 150 and 1500 and a random number between 0 and 7, then jumping to a random frame (numbered from 1-7) after waiting for a random time (150-1500ms).

My _root stops properly when I remove the code posted above.
Why is this happening and how can I have a mc1 in my movie which waits for a random time and then jumps to a random frame, while I want to move around in my _root timeline?
I should add, the mcs1 which wait and move to a random frame are non existent on the position I want to move to in _root.

Could that be part of the problem?
Do I have to somehow remove the wait and choose random frame to jump to function in mc1, when moving around in _root?

How would i do this?

Any help is greatly appreciated,
dual

Problem : A Really Interactive Movie For An Interactive Web Page
Hi I am part of a hockey team and I want to build a website where people could specify if they come to play and when...

My question is : Is it possible to have a page in which people could move the items of a flash movie, and that those modification (telling others what they plan to do) stay even if your reload the page? In order that anyone going on the page could see the number of people coming and modify the animation to tell if they come or change their plans...

I am looking for any kind of help, trails, tutorials...

Thank You

Interactive Layers Over An Interactive Flash File
I've always been frustrated at the fact that dynamic text and images pulled into flash have not been able to be spidered by the search engines.

So, with a client site I'm developing, I'd like to try something different. I'm wanting to create a flash file with buttons that when clicked, open up the flash and create a blank area in the design where a div layer can be placed on top of the flash, positioned in such a way that it looks like it is part of the flash itself. When you then click on a seperate button on the flash, the div layer hides itself, and another div layer appears according to the relevant section of the flash you have chosen.

I might not be explaining myself very well, but for anyone following what I'm sayinig, has this been done before and does anyone know how?

Cheers,

Drag/Drop Floor Plan App Issues - Printing And Aligning
Link to SWF:
Floor Plan App

Purpose:
Allows users to select products and place onto their floor plans, which is saved into our DB to be loaded by our filed techs to place further "tech-specific" symbols onto the plan. All of this is covered so far, with no problems.

Issues:
1) I need the have a print button that will print the floor plan in it's entirety - the products placed, the full length, NOT scaled to fit on one page, but printed out on however many are need for the full size print.

2) When a product is selected (to place onto the plan), the "attachedMC" is placed at a specific X/Y coord. I am wanting the attachedMC to be placed on the same X/Y coord (upper left of the plan) in relation to the floor plan coordinates. In other words, if the plan is scrolled to the very bottom, and the user selects a product, currently I have the plan scrolling back to the top, and the item placed in the upper left of the plan. I want the product to appear in the upper left of the plan, no matter where the actual plan coords are. Make sense?

THAT SAID:
I'm using Flash 8 for this, hoping to utilize some of the Bitmap manipulation and even file upload (for plans), and even though this app is AS heavy, it's been a real learning trila for me. I am NOT an expert, and much of the code is probably not as clean as many "gurus" would like .

I can send the .FLA (and Prototype .MXP used - Laco) through email. It's an internal project, so I don't want to upload it.

Floor Plan Help #1: Manipulating Movie Clip Objects At Runtime
Hi Guys,

I am a grad student working on a floor planner project. I am fairly new to Flash and action script as a whole, and would like to know how one can write a script that allows users to rescale/resize and rotate movie clip objects at runtime. I.e. When a user moves their cursor over an object on the floor plan, I would like for them to be able to either resize the object or rotate it.

After trawling the web, I am still yet to find an existing API that I can use to build my floor planner in Flash. However, I did stumble across the 'Space planner' created by Icovia for architects and interior designers alike. If you visit the icovia web site at http://www.icovia.com/, and click on 'Test Drive' under Interior design and Home renovations section, you will see what I envisage for my project.

However, all I would like to know for now is how I can manipulate objects on the floorplan using action script.

Many Thanks
