i'm sorry for the naivety of this post but i'm trying to create a website using flash.

i plan to get a host, buy a domain name... create something on flash and upload it to the net.

However i have no idea how to do this..

Different On Hd And Internet?
i posted here a couple of days ago about a fla i was having problems with, i got that all taken care of and everything, at least on my hard drive... so i uploaded the new file to my server, and it works, but it doesn't do the same stuff it does on my hd. for example, at the end, when u click on a thumbnail thats supposed to go to frame 128, it goes to the beginning I'm not sure whats wrong. Can someone help me? BTW, i've already made sure the uploaded file is on the site, and that my temp folder was empty and everything, so it's just that it doesn't work...

Internet Screensaver
Hi

If i convert a flash file into a screensaver, is it possible to dynamically change the content of the screensaver?
.i.e. whenever i am going online it should update with new images, or texts etc.

I tried to call external files, but nothing worked

Internet Issues With MX
Im having problems fiqureing out how to link to another site on a flash made webpage. Ie my domain is www.cwtenterprises.com
I want to be able to click on my link in flash and goto www.cwtenterprises.com/history.htm for example. Please help.

Connected To The Internet?
This is more an actinscript question then projector question:

I am publishing my movie as a .exe only. I want to have some script that says

'If connected to the internet, play frame 4, else stop'

Is it possible for the player to detect if there is a live internet connection or not from a movie? If I command the .exe to fetch something from the net when there is no connection on the computer, it will bring up a connection window that I wish to avoid.

Internet Detection. Is It Possible?
We're creating a cd-rom that connects to the net.
Is there any way of detecting if the user has a net connection?
Currently we try returning something from a webpage if the user has connection and Flash returns an error if there is no connection.
This works fine on the PC but on the Mac it keeps searching?

Internet Explorer 6.01
Hi,

I have experienced a strange thing lately. My website worked well with Internet explorer 5.5 and still works well with Internet explorer 6.01. However, since I made a windows update on my pc I get scroll bars at the bottom and on the right hand-side of the content window. The website has been built in php and redirect several pages to flash MX. It is working well from there. But as soon as I am using the link from flash that tells me to come back to the content window in php, I get the scroll bars on the content window when it never used to be the case with my other version of Internet Explorer. Maybe I need to add some lines in my source in flash to make it work.

I am using win98 yesterday I install Internet Explorer 6 from the net. I made a websie when I view the website using Explorer 6 I saw unallighed tables but before using Explorer 5 table were aligned and images were right on their place. why is that has Internet Explorer 6 some bugs?

Put My Site On The Internet
I've finished designing my site in flash, and now of course need to get it on the net.

I've started my site with a html enter page that will have a flash movie (button) that will animate and other html content surrounding that.

My initial problem is that when I load the files into my ftp client, the html part shows up in the browser fine, but the flash part does not appear at all.

Dreamweaver tells me that to load a flash movie into a page, you select the swf. file. I also just tried publishing the flash file and placing that flashsite.html from into the dreamweaver page. That seems to not work either.

I'm also using that flash (button) to load in my main flash site. This page consist of only flash content and I'm tring to get that page to load in a 715x430 centered window.

The way I've set it up now is placing the main flash mov. into a dreamweaver doc. and saving that. Then on my flash button in my index page in tells the movie to open centered and at the right size.

Everything works when I do preview in browser.

.. my java Script Pop Up thing works fine at the local machine, but when i upload it at the web, it does display the pop Up, but doesn't get the required SWF in it, instead show the 'page not found' thing .. i have checked and re checked. the file is residing in the required folder ..

Flash And The Internet
Okay, so I was wondering, I've seen so many sites built with flash. How do you do that? I mean, how do you have a page designed and navagational with flash, like when you click on something, it loads to something else. I can't figure it out. I guess an idea I had was to have a band on the right, each person clickable, and on the left would be like the stuff where it says home, etc, etc. When you click on something, it will load.

In My Pc Works But In Internet Not
i finish the first section of my proyect - so i upload the site, but for some people, the cars never appears, for other, the buttons dont works or the logo dont appears. All the cars and the logo are external movieclips But in my PC the movie works perfect -

Slower On The Internet...?
Okay, I'm using Flash 5 and having major troubles. When i open the video as an .swf the speed and quality are great. However, when I preview through HTML or with Internet Explorer, it seems to go tons slower and the quality is horrible (even if i resize the screen). I experimented with this, and found out no matter how fast I make it go as .swf, it always goes 40 fps (or something like that). I tried putting 100 fps, still the same. This can greatly hurt my Flash Videos. My friends says it's my Flash 5, but I don't think so... Any help would be... Umm... Helpful. Thanks.

can i make ie have a bg of my choosing and then load my movie ontop of that so when the client resizes or opens favourite tab etc the movie resizes but the bg stays static

Internet Problem
I recently created a Flash and put it into Dreamweaver as a .html file to be put onto the net via geocities. The flash was about 8kb. I uploaded both and the page loaded sucessfully, very quick. Then, I changed the flash documnet by adding an mp3 file increasing the size to 3.2mb But this time the movie won't load. (i know it takes longer duh) but i've waited almost 30 minutes and it seems to be frozen somehow, but other large flash documents on the web load seamlessly like games and movies. Is there an option to make the flash play as it loads and not load all then play? or is that the default in the first place?

If I could also get this question answered. I want scribbles to appear when you move the mouse over the word. I can't remember how to make an invisible button, but when I figure it out, can I make it a movie clip that will scribble out the word instead of the scratches just appearing?

Best Way To Run Program On Internet
Hello - I have a program that Im making - that will ultimatly be a slide show with next and back buttons. I currently have my flash file set up with scenes. I have a preloader scene, and then pages. Each page is a scene. I currently have my preloader - preloading all frames/scenes at once. I could make each page a seperate swf file and preload them seperate.

Here's my Q.... What is the best way to do this. I dont want my users sitting there at a huge 8-10 meg file preload. I'd like to load a few scenes - then have the remaining scenes load in the background while their watching the other slides...

Any help in setting this up to work the most efficient on the web would be greatly appecieated. Were working with 20 pages - each with Voice over and audio - 3-4 small graphics per page - bunch of text.

What Is Going On With Internet Explorer

This site works fine in FireFox, returning data from a database with no problem. When I try to view the page with Internet Explorer everything comes back as "undefined". Any idea why?? Thank you.

I removed the old abc.swf and upload a newer abc.swf. when i go see on internet. it still displays the old one...

i tried to clear the cookies and temp files stuff. but useless.

Is there anyway I can test if the user has internet connection within a flash file? I want them to launch an flash .exe.
When they open it the flash file will check if they have internet connection, if they dont it will see please go to the url (http://www.somethingsomething.com) if it does have connection it will continue to the next step.

Okay, what I'm doing is creating a navigation menu with flash that will be placed inside an html document. I want to be able to press buttons in flash menu that send the html (current browser) to a new page.

I'm basically trying to get the flash menu to work as if it were html code within the document.

Goal:

A button in the .swf in an .html document behaves the exact same as a <a href="whatever.html"> within the document.

I was wondering if anyone could help me with this one:

I 've made a flash site which is connected with a database so the client could add or delete products/news..
The main movie is 665kb but it also loads a lot of other external movie clips or .asp

The problem is that in my computer -I have a very quick internet connection- everything is running more than ok but in a low connection everything is going sooo wrong!! even the main movie doesn't work (this is actually my problem)... when i press profile it opens sth else etc. Nothing works correctly in the main stage...

Is it possible the low connection of the inernet to cause such a mess?

Any suggestions would be really appreciated!!

[F8] Local Vs Internet
I have noticed more and more as I progress further into ActionScript and Flash that some of my movies act diffrent when I view them localy vs when I upload them to a server.

When I test the movie it plays as it should. When I publish and try to view it localy I notice some of my code is not applied, but then I upload it on a server and view it, I see the samething as when I tested the movie in flash.

I wouldnt mind so much if it were just me viewing the movie, but when I have clients come in, or even worse, my boss and I try to show them what I've been working on I get a movie with what looks to be like a LOT of bugs.

Does anyone know if there is a way round this so everything works perfect when viewing on a local machine??

hey everyone, heres whats happenin...

Ive been trying for the past couple days, to figure out how to set up a radio station on my website. I do not want to pay for additional hosting so im using my site at dot5hosting.com, they let you do something called HTTP Streaming, where i basically upload the files to my host server and they stream from there.

they referenced me to: real http streaming

now i really do not understand it to well but it sounds like it will only stream the one file its linked to....unless someone understands this better, i was thinking of just doing this:

I have to upload the files anyway, so why not just play them through flash? You can see at my site www.ryanvollmer.com that i have a music player at the bottom already. However, there are only two tracks and it was made so the player just goes to another frame. The .fla for the player is here if you want Player! . It loads the mp3 .swf's externally so i didnt include those. I guess here are my questions, assuming no one here knows about that http streaming thing:

1. Is there a way i could make the swf put out a continous stream, so everyone listening would here the same file at the same time.

2. How would i go about making it play random files? (ill probably have around 50 up)

3. Can i make it read the name of the .swf and display that as the name on the player, for the player i had up i had to enter the names.

I think thats it for now, if you have any suggestions or comments please feel free to ad, im pretty new with this so yea...thanks for reading my lengthy post hope you can help.

[F8] FPS Drop On Internet
This is VERY weird.
Whenever I open a flash movie on my computer, the fps will just be as set. When I open this particular movie on the Internet it shows a lower amount of fps!

Look at this:

This movie is supposed to work on 100 fps. When I open it on my computer it works just fine. However, on the Internet it doesn't.

Well now.. I made this totally empty movie except for a fps meter. I've set it to 100 fps. On my computer it shows: "100 fps". On the Internet however it shows "60 fps" just as the other movie. Here it is:

SWF Won't Connect To The Internet.
I have two SWF files - one connects to the internet to get a news feed, one gets a local XML. Both accomplish it with XMLConnector.

Local file works just fine. Internet version is another story - works GREAT on my development machine, where Flash resides. The minute I put it on the web server, all other machines show the file and all animations/tweens start working, but there's no data.

Is there a security setting I need to configure that Flash configures during install? or maybe I'm missing a file or two somewhere?!

I have the latest 8.0.24.0 player on all machines and develop with Flash 8.

Did I miss some code? but if so, why does it work on my dev box?

I have a code that loads an XML file from the internet. I want to make it so that the file loads first from the internet and than second from the local machine as a back up. I have a script that seems to be working while in the authoring environment, but doesn't work after i export it....Any ideas why?

Communicating Over The Internet With AS3
Hey, I was wondering If you could communicate back and forth in the following ways:

you to other computer
other computer to you
your/other computer to www.website.com/serverFile.swf
www.website.com/serverFile.swf to your/other comp

and for the sake of argument lets say I want to make a chat program and I want to save the chat logs to a file on the website and send the other text directaly to the other computer.

Uploading .swf To Internet
OK heres a file which is exactly like mine. Except ive changed all the icons and speeds... anyway same with this file (includes all the images and .xml file)

When i upload the .swf file to my hosting company (photobucket), it doesnt play the images (BUt when i just run it of my pc in my documents its fine...).
I hosted 1 of the images to a site (icon 1: http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g6...file/icon1.png

And changed icon 1's location in the .xml file, but they still dont load up. What do i have to do to make this carousel play with the images online?
