Is There Any Way That Wmv Or Avi Files Can Be Played In Flv Players?
I am developing a dynamic flash video player in flash8, flv players suppots mainly .flv files, but here client wants to upload even wmv or avi files, Is there any way that that the wmv files will be converted into flv files aftert uploaded by the clients? Please suggest

Two Audio Players On Page - Stopping One When Other Is Played
Hi everyone -
I am using the XSPF web music player
for my website. I realize this isn't a support forum for that element, but hopefully someone can help me out here. I have two of them on one page. When the user clicks on one, I need the other to stop.
I've seen this done with the Wordpress audio player, but alas, I (or rather my client) needs a volume control (which XSPF has). Even if it's just something simple, like somehow stopping the flash when it detects another one on the page is playing, that would work. Any clues?

External Avi Files Played In Flash...
ok , I read a few things on this, also went top to bottom on many topics, help section you name it. So here I am now.
Issue: Enabling avi control in a flash enviorment and or playing said avi.
Issue#2: conversions are poor, very poor compaired to the orignal , this is for personal use for my clan in a game called planetside. I have been using, Blaze media Pro for my editing and Fraps for my openGL captures. Which has worked really well. However the smallest of movies are just plainly too long when importing to flash. I would assume that there would be a way and or a third party software (realtivly cheap) that allows for easy setup of videos within a flash enviorment.
Oh, yes I have tryed many of the moduals avalible at macromedia, thou needless too say they don't do the job I require to well. Any thoughts or ideas would be most appreciated.
Overall Concept: Ability to play AVI movies within flash and able to stop/select and play said movie clips of in game action.
Again, willing to buy somthing if it's worth while, as the above software I have full versions of and are very nice, but converting our site to full flash has some drawbacks, however as you can see here http://www.enclaveoilrig.com/
it's shaping up nicly, oh btw, it's alpha, I know I got text issues :P lol, but overall I am very good with flash and java,js,vb etc, however this movie thing is just getting anoying :P>.. thnx for the help guys.

Captivate Created Swf Files Blurry When Played
Hi
I have created some swf files (showing a screen capture of someone using a website) using Captivate 3. I then put these files in to a flash presentation. If I double click the file name and play the swf in the window that opens automatically everything is fine.
But, if I maximize the window there's a horrendous amount of blurring whenever there is scrolling of the page with in the movie and the text is also more blurry in the movie.
When the file is used in my flash presentation it must automatically maximize because the blurriness occurs, can any one tell me how I might be able to get rid of it?

Getting Flash Video Players To Automatically Read Files?
Hello.
I'm working on a project where video files will be uploaded to webspace and then a Flash player needs to automatically notice the file is there and play it.

How would I get something like this to automatically detect new files on a server and play them? Is there a special Flash video player to do this? Being able to stream the files would be great...

DVD Players Vs AVI
I tried that just yesterday.... I mean, I made an VCD by exporting my fla.file as an AVI and then burned it on a CD-ROM and put it into my DVD-player. Worked fine. Except from this little detail. Some of the picture that was supposed to go on the right, somehow showed up at the left???? Do any of you guys know if there's a predefined resolution or if it's just because my screen is wide-screen? And another problem I'd like to hear about if others experienced this: Movieclips on the scene doesen't move in an animated mode... it only scrolls. Therefore I had to re-animate some of my, premade movieclips. I had to animate everything frame, by frame!

I have always noticed a significant difference in speed and fluidity between the player in flash and testing it in a browser, but, i recently i tried them out on an oldish dell desktop with dial up connection and to my surprise found it to be considerebly quicker and smoother than even within the flash player.
is there some plugin missing i am missing for my flash player, or am i going about making my sites the wrong way.

I simply need a user to be able to enter the name they want for their character, click a button and make the name appear in a dynamic text box. The variable name of the dynamic text box is "name" and the variable of the input box is "entername".

I am playing around with the NETstream and FLV possibilities with progressive download and with flash player 7.
I am using the HELP files from the flash program, to learn about it.
But i am stuck in trying to get the flv to act like a QT player.
What i want to learn, is the way the QT player acts when it shows progressive download movies. It looks at the users connection/ download speed and figures out how much it needs to download so that it can play the movie without interruptions.
How can i do the same thing in Flash with the flv file and NETstream.

Can anybody help me-
I've tried using the flashtrak players on sites that I'm building but have run into a wall. Every time I replace the data.swf file with another one I've built holding my music, it won't work.
I've noticed that the data.swf file that comes with the players doesn't engage (play the music) when I open it --so it's my opinion that the music is in the 2nd frame----but I can't see the code to find out how to make mine the same way-this is driving me crazy-
Any suggestions????

Discrepencies Between Players/FS
Hello. My question concerns differences I'm seeing between the Flash 5 and Flash 6 players. I developed a FLA for a banner in Flash 5, but when I viewed with a Flash 6 player it appeared to be playing way too fast. To correct the situation, I set the frame rate to 10 FPS from the original 20. Now when it is viewed on a Flash 5 player it appears to be playing way too slow. I need to find consistency no matter what player is being used. Is this impossible? Also, I was wondering why this banner is able to be resized when dropped into an Explorer browser window, even though I added "false" fs commands for allowscale and fullscreen. What's up with that? I'd appreciate any help that I can get. Thanks in advance!

I stuck somewhere in the middle here. Most of the tutorials I have found on here have been a huge help and really accelerated the learning curve for me, but I can't find a tute on building a flashtrak player.
I like most that I found here but I want to build an original because almost everything on the site I'm building is original artwork and flash.

The problems:
When I press left or right player 2 starts going left.
I can fix the stop animation problem.
If I press any key the player 2 starts going.
Also in the punch animation I did this in the last frame:

Witch is suppose to make the player stand after a punch but instead the punch starts over again.
Andplayer1 doesn’t attacks when I press DOWN.

Many Players At Same Time

I'm a newbie in flash, and in action script... And I need help to fix a problem...
I have 5 independents players that plays differents musics... side by side... If I press the play button on player 1, it starts to play the song, and everyting is right. But, if I "forget" to press stop in player 1, and press play on player 2, it start to play and the player 1 don't stop playing. So that is my problem... I need to do something to stop player 1 if the player 2 starts to play.
How can I do that?????
There is any code that can say something like that "if click play in other player, stop this one"?

Two Players On One Keyboard

I have a top-down tank game where two players each control a tank. The only thing is, I am stuck on the best way to send keyboard commands to the individual tanks.
Right now, I plan to have a function to recieve each set of commands (player one movement, player two movement, and so forth), and refer back to an array holding both tanks. My question is, how to I get the function that actually moves the tanks to refer to the tank that is calling it? I hope any of that makes sense.

For those that managed to miss it, Adobe released new minor versions of the players last Monday.
I strongly urge everybody who have a lower version than 9.0.47 to upgrade as soon as possible, since earlier versions contains a known vulnerability.
New features includes some new codes and multi core support. The full change list is avalible for those who want to read it.

I am brand spanking new to using Adobe Flash, and know nothing about Action Script. I'm working on a flash website for a radio station, and would like to use four buttons, each one corresponding to a particular media player, which, when clicked will load the radio stream in the proper program. Problems With Mp3 Players
hi,I have 3 players in my page and I experience some problems:
If one player is playing and I press play in another one,the new one starts playing but the progress bar in the first keeps moving and when it gets to the end,all the sounds are off.I tried to find the stopAllSounds action but I couldn´t,I dunno if there´s another way.So I have to press Stop in one player in order to play another one.

Alright, so we're wrapping up our video upload site project for our community.... we're currently using flowplayer but I want something that looks a little more custom..
the problem is that I have no flash/actionscript bg, I'm sure I could figure it out... but what we'd like is one .swf that plays the file on the site, then a 2nd .swf for the "embed" code for others to paste on their site, so we can do watermarking and such.
I'm sure the player controls/buttons could be figured out semi easily, but how hard would it be to pull up nifty functions like on youtube where it pulls dynamic data at the end of the file?
