Jpegs In Illustrator, How Do I Get Them Into Photoshop
I have an illustrator file, that has a variety of bitmaps in it, they have clipping masks on them that exactly trace around the outline, so that they are separated from their backgrounds.

I need to get those images into photoshop, so that i can optimize them before bringing them into flash.

But how do i do this? I want to keep the clipping masks, .... otherwise, I would have to try to go in by hand and seperate the background of each one.

I haven't worked with illustrator in this way. Only have used it for simple vector stuff. Any help would be appreciated.

Can anyone tell me if Flash works with integration of older versions of Photoshop and Illustrator. I've read about new integration tools and wonder if the new tools only work with CS3 versions of other Adobe software.

Working With Photoshop And Illustrator Layers.
How come when i try to import a photoshop or an illustrator file that it does not import it into multiple layers? Am i doing something wrong...is there a method of bringing it in that i dont know about. File, import, illustrator file .... where did it put it the only way i can get it to goto the movie is if i paste from the toolbar. Can anyone help out here?

Photoshop>Illustrator>Flash - Image Distorted
Hey peeps. Im having a big problem with a logo i created in photoshop for a company. I have Illustrator 10, so i have the export to SWF option. Now what i did was saved the logo in .ai format from photoshop, and opened it in illustrator. And then exported it using the swf option in Illustrators export options. The reason im going through this hassle is becuase i need to retain the transparencies of the blur effect and glow which i added in the original photoshop image. Now, the problem is that when i import into flash, everythings fine, the transparencies are still there, everything looks perfect. But when i export the flash file, it gets all messed up looking, as if the export quality was low. I even export using Jpeg Quality at 100. Also, I've read that if you try scalling in flash, the quality gets messed up if its not a vector image. So i've also exported in the size I needed, not resizing or nothing. Its good looking in flash, but once again when i export, it comes out messed up, Flash Quality is at best as well. Any help? Thanks.

.tif/photoshop/illustrator Files Imported To Flash Movie
hi, i have some cartoons (originally hand-drawn, so no true vector format) that were (digitally) originally .tif files. what's the best way to save/optimize them to import into flash so that:

-the movie clip doesn't get too huge
-the cartoons (charicatures, really), when placed on a dark background, don't show up the white crinkled outlined edges from the photoshop alterations (removing the white background from the cartoon body so i can move a transparent image seamlessly in the website.

and in general, for importing from illustrator to flash (or is importing from photoshop better?) what're the best guidelines for crisp, sharp, hot hot results in my flash movie(as a website)?

also, while we're on the topic, best guidelines for optimizing images in photoshop for flash (but with transparency in the image)?

*note the attached cartoon is a diminished version of the original digital file.

Problems With Photoshop To Flash Jpegs
Hi all,

Well, i just started using flash today and did a buncha tutorials.
I wanted to try making a better intro for my website. But i got stuck on something. I made my graphics in PS 7 and tried to transfer them to flash, but upon trying to move them, they have white background on them that i cant figure out how to get rid of..you may want to check out the included .fla file to see what i mean.
How can i get rid of this? And why can i not fill the background with the fill bucket?

Problems Importing Jpegs From Photoshop
Hi,
I'm importing optimised jpeg photos from Photoshop into flash, but they don't maintain the same colour, losing depth and warmth. I have tried unchecking the embed colour profile (Adobe RGB 1998) in the photoshop save option but this still imports the same colours. I'm not sure if this is a flash specific problem or the colour management of my Apple Mac. Any help would be much appreciated.

Photoshop JPEGs, Flash MX, And The End Of Time...
Ok, so maybe this doesn't have anything to do with the end of time... or maybe it does? I would be a fool to say I've got it all figured out...

Anyhow, a designer had done up some images for me, a bunch of JPEGs to be loaded into Flash dynamically...

They were done in Photoshop, and they did not work.

I thought, "How odd... they are but JPEGs are they not?", and I asked... they were saved with a batch "Save As JPEG" in Photoshop. I decided to try to resave it through Photoshop's "Save for Web", and the light shone down upon me, and all was well.

So my questions is this: has anyone every run into a problem like this before? what is the difference between a JPEG and a Photoshop JPEG? Why oh why must they be different?

Totally Lost. Optimizing Jpegs In Photoshop. HELP
I'm making a photography website. I have a bunch of jpegs that are big with memory.

I'm trying to optimize them so that they are reasonably small in memory so they can download.

After looking at other similar sites, I figured that I want to try to keep them around 25k.

But I can't seem to do it. I'm lost. I cut the resolution to 72, and lower the pixel dimensions pretty low, and then I save for the web and save it as a gif, but it is still big.

Any advice?

here is the confusing part. I went to some photo site, and took a look at some of their images, from my temporary internet files folder.

I looked at one jpeg, looked under properties and saw that it was 15.7kb. So then I copy it to my desktop, and open it in photoshop.

In photoshop, I go to image size, and it says 1 mb. So, I'm thinking, how does this one megabyte jpeg come off as a 15kb image? But sure enough, when you click on properties, it says it's 15kb, and when you open the very same image in photoshop, it says 1mb.

HELPPPPPPPPP. I don't know what's going on here. It seems that I don't know something here...some trick, or some strategy to optimize these images so that I will have good quality and low file size. Others are doing it on the internet, but I'm having trouble duplicating it.

Can you help me?

I was trying to import an image from Illustrator 10 into Flash MX, but everytime I tried I got an error message saying "One or more files were not imported because their were problems reading them". I tried importing my images as .ai and .eps as well as changing the settings around and trying different files. Nothing seemed to work. Any ideas? Thanks.

Mx And Illustrator 9
okay, every time I create text in illustrator 9, convert it to path and paste it into mx, half my text gets lost.

These are simple paths with solid colors. Nothing fancy or complicated. I don't remember flash 5 having these problems, what's up?

Do I need to upgrade to illustrator 10 or has macromedia finally said "F" you to adobe products. Do we all have to use Freehand and fireworks now to get anything done??

Having problems importing, copy pasting, any version of an illustrator file into MX.

I've saved the file out several times as older versions of illustrator thinking that would work, it has in the past.

I do get an import. It's just a buggy one. Not really acceptable.

Anyone know a workaround?

Swf From Illustrator
i have made an image in illustrator to use as a background for an animation. When importing to flash, it creates 1200 symbols as well as the swf file because of all the little parts of my drawing.
ive tried loads of things to flatten it properly in illustrator, but can't work it out... it's allright if i save it out as a jpeg but i want it in vector format...

any ideas???

I recently upgraded to Illustrator CS, but I still have Studio MX. Flash MX cannot import CS files. Any suggestions on how I should important my vector art into Fash MX?

ILLUSTRATOR IMPORT BUG?
So I import masked images, break em apart, make new symbols out of em and then spend fully two hours on em, then I export it and check out what I done....looks not quite right, so I go back into MX and theres nothing on my stage. I mean I have keyframes in the time line, but no objects on the freakni stage. So what do I do? Who do I hit? Myself? Did I **** up here?

WHat is the best way to import an adobe illustrator 9.0 doc to a .fla file, keeping all of the vectors, and gradients? ALso, I've divided up every different object, text string and box into a different layer, how do I convert those layers into flash objects or layers?

Im using flash MX and Illustrator 9, and importing an eps file.
Usually, a few colours change in the image, and I dont really mind manually going about changing them back, but for some reason, when i try to import a particular image, not only the colours, but some of the shapes are changing also...

Illustrator To Flash....
Hi...this is my first time using this thing...hopefully someone in the virtual world can help, cause one in my world can...

My question:

I have used the CALLIGRAPHIC brush in illustrator, and would like to import these lines to Flash...however, Flash seems to convert these lines and make them thin and wimpy looking. In illustrator, I have tried "expanding appearances", so it converts the lines to shapes, and I've also tried to "flatten transparency", but none of these two methods work. I can't re-draw what i've done using the paintbrush in Flash, because it's a complex illustration.

When i'm in Illustrator, I export layers as .swf files...but this calligraphic line is a big problem. Any suggestions? All I want is what I've done in illustrator to look the same in Flash!!! I thought these two vector programs were more compatible...can anyone help?

Illustrator Nightmare
I know this is probably very simple but it is driving me crazy...I am getting an error message when I try importing my illustrator eps file. It is just a simple shape. I am using Illustrator 10 but I have tried saving in all different versions. Also, when I past the element into Flash it is not smooth. The edges are jagged. Please, if someone has a simple solution or something I am missing let me know.

I am trying to export a file (flattened) from ILL 10 to Flash MX. I know flash accepts the .eps format, but for some reason it it displays an error message after it is almost imported in flash saying that some of the file canot be understood.

i love Flash's interface and know how to sue all the drawing tools. But when i go to use something like photosop its way to confusing. So is there anyway to use flash to make layouts only? Can i copy and paste into some other porgram or can I save it as a jpeg?

If no, than whats a good program to make layouts in? I do't like photshop at all, I can't even draw lines and make boxes and stuff. What do you reccomend?

I was wondering if anyone knew of an easy way to do this. I want the exact vector objects in illustrator to be in flash. I don't much care about the colors.. I can always change those. Look what happens when I try to do it though. Top is illustrator .. bottom is flash

Notice how the "smoke" is messed up and so are the lines.

I would appreciate any help on this

Converting Swf To Illustrator
hey guys,

I am having some difficulty with exporting an image from, flash into an illustrator file. Every time i do it creates the .ai file jsut fine, but then neither photoshop or indesign can read open it!

I am using Flash MX and photoshop 7.

I'm creating some rich files in Illustrator, so ive been creating symbols.. but i noticed that when i import these files as swfs into flash, i have to rename all the symbols...
its a bit of a pain, but still i find it a very useful function when composing a scene! ( a great upgrade from v9)

does anyone know if it's possible to keep the symbol names during export/import into flash???
