I allways have my flash pages on a 18 frames per second or faster, is this the correct way to speed everything up or is there something else I need to know.

hi all!
wondering if someone could point me to a script and/or a tutorial that would help me to create my gallery. this is what i'm looking for:
have small thumbnails distributed over background (either by grid or haphazard), when you click on a thumbnail a new window opens up (ontop of the old one) with the enlarged, full sized picture; when you click anywhere inside that pic the window closes and you are back looking at the thumbnails.

Wanting To Zoom Out And In A Pic
Hi,
I have tried to zoom in and out of a pic but it does not zoom in to the part i want or when i am zooming out from certain part of a pic it does not start to zoom out from the spot i want.
i have a white section in my pic that i want to start from and then have the pic zoom out to show the whole pic.
is there a template or can someone suggest a better way to do this as my way does not seem to work.

Ok, I'm very new to working in both actionscript and Flash (2 days so far) - but I do enjoy a challenge.
I have been trying to build something and have sort of got it working in the way I wanted but I'm not sure I have achieved it in the correct way!
So can someone please take a look at my "effort" and comment on it, point me in the right direction if I have gone about it the wrong way etc.
Also within the actionscript are comments explaining "how" I wanted it to work and some of the things that, at this stage, I have no clue how to do - so if anyone can help out with these things it would be appreciated.
Looking forward to learning more from people who do know what they are doing! ..

hi i'm trying to make it so when a button is pressed all of the mc's with the instance name "item" then a "#" (they are all numbered in order from item 1-100) would disappear.

Wanting A Dim Effect
Alright. I have my my movie that will load external .swf's but here's my problem. I want my main movie to stay in place where it is, but the new .swf will lay over top of the the the main movie and the main movie will dim (like a black box overlays with a small alpha or something). How exactly can I acheive this?
Mac Os 9 Not Wanting To Load My Swfs
hey there. for some reason, my personal portfolio that i created using xml and flash just doesn't like opening up at all on mac os 9 and it's variants. it works fine on os 10 and os x (as well as works fine on windows).
when you click a button in the menu, it unloads a swf on a level, and then reloads a swf on the same level.
has anyone ever run into that problem as well?

Wanting To Create A Gallery.
Ok the plan.
User has a little guide to click and move around the page to view differnet 'paintings' on each page.
Each page is 800x700 and is a different section for each gallery.
Now I was thinking if I had all 5 800x700 images in a very long strip when the user clicked either the right or left 'next' button it will take them to the next section of the gallery.
What I can work out is how to get the button to scroll/pan the next image accross, Kind of like when a slide door moves left to right.
I hope that makes sense, this has been driving me mad all day.

Ok, so I went through the tut, and can manage that effect. My question is, how would I apply it to different spots on a site. I have a logistical problem here.
I have made an animation, and have made a seperate movie clip object of it.
I place it on the first frame of the _root timeline and it plays fine.
I want to have it "followed", sort of like an onion skin effect. My plan was to drop the movie on to frame 2, frame 3 etc.
That, er, doesn't work.
I guess I'm missing something really basic here.

hey. im not a newbie to flash but there is one thing i cant seem to figure out, probably cause i cant figure out the right way to word it to put it into a search engine for a tutorial
so here is my problem...i have a flash movie all set up...5 buttons that when clicked show a different movieclip inside the movie holder...but just now when i click a button it just jumps straight to the new content and doesnt look very good
what i cant figure out is how to make the change between different movieclips more animated...such as making the current content fade away before the new content fades in
i am only guessing this would be done through using a movie holder, any other suggestions are more than welcome

Wanting Transitions W/o External Swf's.
I have some text that will fade in when a button is pressed and fade out when a different button is pressed, which will then fade in the new appropriate text. I'm doing this by using the transitions between external .swf tutorial found here on kirupa. Now my question is this: is there a way to do this without having to use external swf's?

Form Not Wanting To Fill Out
Hey all.
I have a question regarding forms and flash. I have made a flash form, but for what ever reason, I cannot fill out it in the movie.
I have ran the scenes and I can do it.. but when I try it during the movie phase, I cannot fill it out.
I do have a layer over it in flash. is this causing the problem? Likewise, though, one of the layers I have over it is a masking layer. I need to mask some actions.

My freind and I are wanting to back up links in our site but seen to have problems as it was created using 'sitemaker' and the host will not allow us to get the info. they state it can not be done! so how does it get to the viewers pc then! lol

Wanting To Get Paintings In Tree To Move
I want the paintings in this tree to move back and forth. It's kind of a move from side-to-side type movement I'm looking for.How would this be done? I've provided a link to the file where it is so that you get the idea.
Let me know how or what you can do to help me with this idea.
The paintings aren't really "attached" to the tree, but maybe that's OK,unless I just use the line control and make another limb to the tree or
something like that.
*I may need an actual "example" that one could use from my file or the image that I've inserted here if possible. Then of course it will need to be integrated into the file.

Registration Point Not Wanting To Center
I have a circular font character that I want to rotate. I converted the character to a symbol choosing the registration point as being centered. When I go back to the stage, the center point is off a little bit, so the character doesn't rotate in a true circle. I tried dragging the center point manually, but can't get it just right. Is there a trick to getting the registration perfectly centered when this happens? Thanks

Im a php developer with little knowledge of Flash....i know no actionscript.....i do know javascript which ive heard is similar so i dont know if that'll help.

Wanting To Bring Maya Into Flash

Well for starters I am new to this site, so yay for me! I have this project that I'm working on and my idea might be a little bit out of my league. I have been using Flash for about 9 months and know enough to get basic things done.

Now I know 3D files can get big and I'm looking to do an animation like this quite a few times on the website. I'm really not sure how to go about coding that animation into Flash, if I should just bring in an image sequence and create a movie clip with that and call the action when a button is clicked .... OR .... if I could call it from an XML file (which I just learned about a month ago).

Wanting To Create A Button Controlled Map With Zoom
Flash newbie here (bet you've heard that before!) and all I am looking to do is create a simple map (IE just a background image...no interaction at this point) that you can move around via directional arrows. The map will be bigger than the Flash movie area and I'd also like to be able to zoom. There was a tutorial on this site that I was following that seemed to be more or less what I wanted but when I finished, it didn't work and for the life of me no matter how many times I went through those steps, I couldn't get it to work. It looked pretty! But it didn't work hehe.
If anyone has any tips or links to tutorials that would be great. My own attempts at searching are mostly fruitless probably due to my lack of Flash vernacular (for example, when I try looking up "map" I get LOADS of "bitmap" search returns hehe).
Any help would be awesome...I am learning and many tutorials assume I know a certain amount (which I do...but only to a certain point LOL).
New To FLASH.... I Am Wanting To Learn The How To Say, Fly A Plane Over Page

I am completely new to FLASH, i have managed to create a basic step by step animation, much like i have done with an animation tool, painshop pro animation programe.
But it must be easier than this, I have been told to look at the manual, but i do not even know what i am looking for.
How do i get an image of lets say a plane to fly across the page or in the window of the flash movie with a few clouds in the background say.
what i am hoping to next have is for the plane to have a banner flying behind it with a name on it.
can someone please help me out here i am going crazy with frustration it can not be that hard i am sure i just need help in creating the first and i can hopefully work out how to add the banner in time.
just like PHP i worked it out in the end, i wish to learn all i can about flash.
or are there any other online tutorials that show a step by step instruction on how to do basic things, i have looked at the flash help files that came with the software but have no idea what they are getting at, and again i do not know what to look for either,

NEWBIE . . Wanting To Design Small Site Entirely With Flash
Im new to internet flash and i have several questions as to how i would go about designing and publishing a site completely out of flash. Bascially what i want is one homepage with several interactive buttons on it. I would like for those buttons to load up text when pushed. i dont want the text to load up in new browser boxes though. I want it to all stay within the one page. I would like for them to appear on the page with small arrows beside them that gives the user the ability to scroll up and down. There is a website i go to often called vector lounge. If check that out you will see what im talking about. once you enter the page and click on the main buttons like PRESS PARTNERS and CONCEPT, etc. the displayed text appears there on the page and you can scroll up and down automatically with the arrows. Thats pretty much what i would like.
I also dont know how to size up my flash page so that it would fit into a web-browser correctly. I want the flash page to fit into the web-browser with no white borders or anything around it. AND, last but not least, I dont know how i publish the site to the web. I have dreamweaver. but how would i go about doing it through that?
Im very sorry that my questions are so elementary. Im just having a hard time figuring how to incorporate flash to the internet. Im familiar with making movies in flash and the graphic aspect of the whole thing, I just dont know how to create webpages, let alone create them out of flash entirely and publish them to the web. Wanting To Create Buttons Within My Dynamic Text Field

I'm wanting to create buttons within my dynamic text field. Why? So, users can scroll through and select a country. When a country is selected the user is taken to a frame that gives more information on that country.
In the file I have a Denmark hotspot button which is INSIDE a text movie clip with the script:

This text movie clip of Denmark is placed INSIDE my dynamic text field. The field works and the hotspot of Denmark changes colors so the user knows this is a button, the actual part that says go to the Denmark frame doesn't work.
Maybe I just have the script located in the wrong place, I don't know. Have I confused you all yet?
Does anyone think they know the answer? Let me know and I may share my file.

Director User Wanting To Share A Bitmap Between Users
Hi..
I've created a simple paint application using Director (and convereted into a Shockwave DCR) - what I want to do is allow other users to see this, if they're using the application also. I'm not used to flash, and do not want to redesign the program. Also, the Whiteboard feature with Flash Media Server seems crappy and slow. What's the handiest way for me to share a bitmap with other users using Flash Media Server?
I really wish there was still support for the Multiuser Server.

Wanting A Smooth Transition Between Loaded Movie Clips
I'm sure there is a pretty easy answer to my question so I am hoping someone will be able to help me out.
I have approximately five external movies I am loading into one main movie. I load the movies using various buttons in the main movie.
My issue is this...
I press a button and the first movie loads and then runs to the end of the timeline. Works great.
When a push a second button the second movie loads and runs to the end of the timeline. Works great also.
But I hate how there is a blank space between the movies.
All the movies start with a white stage and end with full graphics. When I press a second button, the movie on the stage disappears immediately and I am left with a white stage for a few seconds while the loading movie animates onto the stage.
I want there to be a cross-fade or some effect that allows the loaded movie to remain on the stage while the second movie is loading. Is there a way to make this happen?
I'm including the code I have for loading movies so you can see what I am working with thus far.

hi i couldnt work out how to simply make my own chat... i just couldnt get my head around all the wierd .asp etc.
so i found a neat little code for this miniture live board (called qboard) that has no ads or anything. it works basic - from a html sense of the word.
1 text table for your name.
1 for your email/url (which when your nickname is clicked on the board itll go there).
1 text table for your message.
1 submit/send button .
and above all that an iframe which you get to see the converstaion on.
what i want to do is use the information about all those textframes in a flash file so it can suit my webpages look. rather than the tacky buttons html provides etc.

Movieclip Not Wanting To Use "mc.gotoAndPlay("one");"
Here in the example below I have a interval that plays a frame called "two" on a movieclip named "mc" every 2000 milliseconds. At the end frame of the movieclip in frame "two" I have a mc.gotoAndPlay("one"); function (The first frame of the "mc" is named "one"). It doesn't seem to want to go to "one", it just repeats until the interval hits "2000" milliseconds again and then it decides to go to frame "one" and play that movieclip until "2000" is reached again. I have included the file. I use Flash MX Professional 2004. Thanks.
