Keyboard Shortcut On Frame
Hi again, in the frame number 8 (for example) the movie stop in this frame I want te movie continue to frame 9 playing when I hit the letter "s" (for example), how I can do this???

I dont want to use the mouse and a button in the stage, just use the keyboard to continue playing the movie when it reach a frame with the stop action.

Assigning A Keyboard Shortcut

Keyboard Shortcut Mapping For F5
Has anyone experienced this:

Keyboard mismatch problem in Flash. The key F5 maps to the capitol letter C. Editing the keyboard mapping set doesn't solve the problem. Using U.S. English (default) keyboard but have in the past used French and British English with other applications.

It is probably a support issue for Apple (though I've only experienced it in Flash). I'm heading over there but I thought I'd let you know in case you've heard from others about this issue.

Steps to reproduce bug:
1. Open Keyboard Shortcuts editor, create a duplicate set.
2. Go to Menu item Timeline --> Frame
3. Type the F5 key
Results: The capitol letter "C"
Expected results: The letter/number "F5"

Keyboard Shortcut Nightmare ?
I am having severe difficulty implementing keyboard shortcuts in my movie. The problem is the Browser (Well Internet Explorer) which takes precedence on any Keyboard Shortcut i set up.

Example:

Ctrl+p - in my movie should bring the user to the phrase tab

IE takes precedence and launchs a new print dialog window.

This is not a problem with firefox, if the movie has focus it takes precedence.

has anybody come up against this problem ?? i cant seem to find a solution anywhere ...

Keyboard Shortcut Question?
Hey Guys, I posted this question awhile back on the flashkit forum and no one had an answer for me. Basically, I was wondering if there was a keyboard short cut to move to the next or previous keyframe? I know the keyboard shortcut to move ahead or behind one frame at a time but nothing on moving from keyframe to keyframe. I've searched all over the place for info regarding this and came up with nothing. It would be such a time saver when editing in the timeline.

Anyone seen anything like this before?

If you're working with many, many frames in the timeline and you could just press a kotkey combo instead of dragging the mouse over there to highlight the next frame, it'd be pretty handy.

Keyboard Shortcut Print Sheet, Anyone?
I am looking for a compiled, layed out and ready for print, Keyboard Shortcuts Sheet.
And yes I know you can export the keyboard shortcuts as an html file, well have you seen the file/page it makes? On a home printer it would take 6 pages to print, only because it's layed out long ways.
I realize I could spend some time re-aligning the tables and making it print ready but I figured mabey it's already been done and out there somewhere, ready to be shared.

Pin Script Shortcut On Qwertz Keyboard
THis is not an actionscript 2.0 question but a mx2004 one.

I really enjoyed the new possibility which allow to pin script (even if the script editor is not as complete as other extenal one...), but I discovered with anger that I can't use the pin script shortcut (usually ctr-=) on my qwertz keyboard ;(

My question:

Do someone managed to use the ctr-= shortcut on a qwertz keyboard? or have found some equivalent?

Brush Size Keyboard Shortcut
After looking I couldn't find a keyboard shortcut that controls brush size. Is there a way to set brush size to the bracket keys, as in Photoshop?

Assigning A New Keyboard Shortcut That Isn't Default
In CS4, I'd like to to assign a keyboard shortcut to the "Smooth" tool (which comes up when you click pointer.) How can I do this? When I click on Tools Panel in the Keyboard Shortcut menu, it isn't an option and it also isn't listed in the Customize Tools menu. I figuring, if I replace one of the available tools with the smooth tool (again, not the one associated with pencil, but the one that appears when you click pointer), I can do it. But how can I replace or add to the available tools?

Flash MX Zoom Tool Keyboard Shortcut
I'm going crazy trying to find keys which will temporarily give me the selection tool, the zoom tool, and also there seem to be several panels in Flash MX which don't have a close button and I have to scroll all the way down to Close in the panel's options. Must be easier ways of doing this like in all the other programs!

Keyboard Shortcut For Anti-alias Text
Hi, I've been finishing up a huge project, it's largely text based and now that it's gone through QA, there is a problem with blurriness. The font is set to arial, font size 12, aliased (pixelated) but as soon as i navigate through any swfs, it goes blurry. I have tried literally everything else, but setting it back to anti-aliased, obviously makes it look okay.

Well, I have to go back and set all the text to anti-aliased now, so I was wondering is there a keyboard shortcut that I can use to change a text box to anti-aliased quickly?

I have about 2000+ text boxes to go through so anything that could speed up the process would be really appreciated.

Import/export .wxf Keyboard Shortcut Prefs
Can anyone share some insight as to the portability of the .wfx keyboard shortcuts files? I'm planning on making the switch to Flash CS3 (v.9) from MX Pro 2004 (v.7) and would like to migrate my extensive custom keyboard shortcuts rather than have to rebuild from scratch. One big reason I held back from upgrading to v.8 was this very issue. I've been able to successfuly copy my .jsfl files between the corresponding Commands folders with v.7 and v.8, and assumed doing the same with .wfx files would work just as well. After copying over, the custom key set does show up in the app, but all the bindings are lost.

Just like in photoshop you can use the [ and ] brackets to make the brush incrementally larger and smaller. I'm getting annoyed of going back to the tool bar all the time to change brush size...

Flash MX 2004 Keyboard Shortcut Woes
I just recently purchased 2004 Professional (the academic version) and I can't get the align shortcuts to work...

I've snooped around in the forums and can't find any similar complaints?? I've also modified the shortcut keys (edit->keyboard shortcuts) to some alternate sequences just for testing as well as installing the latest update but still no love. Any ideas? this is driving me crazy! Thanks a lot.

AS3: Video Keeps Creating Another Instance Of Itself On Entering Frame
Hey guys,

I have been looking around but couldn't find a good tutorial or solution to my problem.

I have a slideshow type application (for my portfolio website). I have 4 "slides". I wanted to use video, I added it on slide #3, and it plays fine, control buttons seem to be connected, but when I click to go to the next slide, without pausing the video, it still keeps playing..., even though there is no instance of the flv playback on that frame. If I go back to the video slide, a new video starts on the top of the old one....

On exit from the slide I would like the video to stop. And on re-entering the frame the video would just sit there, after clicking play/pause it would resume.

if anyone could, please point me in a right direction or tutorial or solution, I'd be grateful.

Instance Names...changing...or Addressing Txt Field Instance Based On Instance Of Mc
i'm creating a mail form, that has a text effect which displays the type of info to be entered in each input box. To create this effect, i had to assign the variable name txt to the input boxes as well as the instance name txtBox. each of these text fields is contained within a movieclip, each with a unique instance name. what i need to do, is somehow assign a value/variable to each text field to pass to PHP to generate an email. I have always used components for contact forms so i'm not sure how to make the switch, AND.. the script i use for my contact form is an EXTERNAL AS file. (i use a customized version of a contact form from www.actionscript-toolbox.com [which apparently is no longer Flash related site])

ok.. this is hard to explain..... so bear with me....
If my original mail form component instance names were: tiName, tiEmail, tiSubject and taMsg (ti for textInput and ta for textArea)
and my current instance names for the mc's which CONTAIN the input boxes (with txtBox textfield instance inside them) are: name_txt, email_txt, subject_txt & comments_txt...

how would i pass/convert the users input text in each movieclip's txtBox, into the original instance name for my mail form so i can continue to use the form/PHP i have been using??

OR....

how do i take the values input by the user in each txtBox (i.e name_txt.txtBox.insertedTextFromUser or name_txt.txt, email_txt.txtBox.insertedTextFromUser or email_txt.txt) and send them to a new PHP script to send mail??

please keep in mind i am PHP retarded... hence why i re-use the same form over and over..

Keyboard Domination - Best Tricks To Hear All Possible Keyboard Shortcuts
I'm looking to recreate a keyboard shortcut quiz in flash much like this example that's been done in javascript.... (Note: the example seems to only really work well on Windows - I'm hoping mine proves to be more compatible?). a timer counts down while it waits for you to correctly perrform the shortcut on the keyboard.

I've successfully implemented a key combination listener such as is detailed in a tutorial here. I've gotten it to parse my list of shortcuts from a delimited txt file, correctly analyze user combination held & advance/score if correct, drive score based on countdown time remaining, manage "pass" to skip tough ones, etc.

However I've still got several things that don't work even though I'm using fscommand("trapallkeys", "true"); (does that even matter when used within browser plugin?)

1) Ctrl key doesn't register on Macs (tried Safari & Ffox) but Cmd key does. This is odd since it works fine when previewing in Flash via Ctrl-Enter (and having enable keyboard shortcuts disabled in that player). Not a showstopper as client's cool if it's windows only.

2) Any shortcuts that utilize the Alt key - seems flash doesn't detect a key event when I hit that key. I've seen another thread here intimating that Flash can't hear code #18 (alt) even though javascript can it certainly seems true in flash player. Is this true? Can it be somehow "pressed" by javascript via a JS key handler?

3) Any that conflict with browser default actions e.g. Ctrl-P, Ctrl-S. Before saying there's no way, note that somehow the JS on the example link *do* block those (on IE/Ffox Win anyways). Does anyone have a clue what part? Will disabling the browser's default actions mean Flash receives the input or will flash not hear them either?

Any help will I'm sure benefit anyone looking to listen for key combos.

Entering Javascript Into Mx? Possible?
Hi there.

I'm required to do the following and I'll need to use javascript with mx - if possible...

I've created a vertically oriented nav bar that when rolling over one of the links, it drops down another level of links (whilst moving the rest of the first level links to below those).

You select one of the second level links.

It brings up a new page using the same nav bar however the nav bar needs to be extended with corresponding link highlighted.

Does anyone know, other than using frames, how and what javascript I could enter into the flash file to tell it to do that?

I'm thinking of just recreating the whole nav using javascript, but i love this flash nav that I did, i think it looks sharp and works well with the site i'm developing. I'm still a newbie, so it might be that i redo it anyway. Any help would be GREAT!

Entering Data Without LOSING IT?

I hope this is a straightforward question. Although the answer may not!! augh...

Well I would like to use a mixture of Flash MX/PHP/mySQL. I currently have a form that people fill out in PHP that gets input into mySQL. I want to convert the HTML and use FLash for that and use the PHP scripts in the background.
The problem is this, (which i had with the HTML previously).
As you fill out the form, some of the drop down's may not have the correct info in it (ex: location, job title)
So I would like to be able to click on a button to the right of it and open a little window and fill in the missing data. Then that inputs it into mySQL. You close that window and go back to the drop down and Voila! Its in there now and you can proceed.
What I am trying to do is keep the user in the same page without leaving it.
Is this possible in Flash?
I was thinking about loading a separate movie(.swf) with
_visible = false, and then just having the button activate that movie when you need to fill it in...
But what about the drop down? How do I get "just" the drop down to retreive the new data with refreshing the whole page and losing the data that was already input into the text fields above?

Any info would greatly be appreciated thanks!!!

Help With A Display Pad &entering Stufffffffff.....

i am no good at variables but i need to learn how i guess.
anyway i have a display and a keypad, kind of like the one on the side of the keyboard? set up like

anyway, the number 8 also represents the direction North and is marked with an N, and 4 is W, 6 is E, 2 is S.

when the user presses them... the display changes.
first the display shows up something like:

N78 23 90

so the first thing the user hits should be one of the direction keys. i'm guessing i'll use something with charAt(0) and then a number-

how can i set up my buttons so that the FIRST time the user hits one, a letter is displayed (if they hit a button with a letter, too), and after that, you can type in numbers? (I think if the user hits one of the other buttons, with no direction/letter on it, nothing happens.)

I have been making a keypad which you can enter a time amount for, i.e., your microwave, however I am having a problem getting it to work.

'dynSeconds' is the dynamic text field for the seconds of the clock. 'dynHoursMinutes' is for hours and minutes, and they should each hold two numbers. "hm"+:+"ss" for example.

I am only working with two of the ten buttons now for simplicity; if I can get those two to work, the rest will be a matter of cutting and pasting the code.

As you can see, the movie doesnt really work. Im not sure what I am doing wrong. As well, the hours and minutes need to obviously account for what is going on with the seconds, meaning you should be able to set a time for 11:11 if you want.

Any corrections?

Keyboard Shortcut For Entering 'Instance Name'

Is there a keyboard shortcut for entering an instance name for a movieclip or button when you have the item selected in the stage? I assume it would just jump me to the properties panel, but even if it were an alert-style window that would be fine.
