Scripting Language VS Programming Language
Dear Sir,
I cannot understand which is the difference between a scripting language(like actionscript or applescript) and a programming language (like java or C++).
I know that actionscript 2.0 is similar to javascipt. so it must be a scripting language.
but actionscipt 3.0 is most simmilar like java or C++.
so why it is still a scripting language?

My mp3 player doesn't display languages other than English correctly. They all come up in a "[]" box, (except more of a square, and a full box)
I've uploaded a song in swedish, and the title is swedish, so I want to type the title using the swedish characters: "ĺ ä" ect, it doesn't work.

i bought a cheap used computer from my brazilian friend, and it is loaded with flash MX, but he lost the discs. its hard enough trying to learn flash, but all menus and everything is in protugese, and i have no idea how to get it back to english....

Help About Chinese Language In FLASH.
I want to do like this in text zooming animation in a dynamic textfield.
Inside in the movieclip have another movieclip with insName of textclip consisting the dynamic textfield representing the variable "text".
here is my bodycode in the parent clip:

If I put a value in English text that would be working but if i put chinese it is not working. WHY?

Flash Player 10 Ui Language
Hi all long time no see.
Ive just installed flashplayer 10 debug v. and now Im really pissed, all the errors etc. are in polish. Yeah, not that i wouldnt know it but i cant get it sometimes what IS the error I read. Ive searched a bit, but with no result.
Maybe someone know how to force installing ( or change afterwards ) flashplayer ui language to english ?

Script Language Flash Question?
Hello,
I have a certain script that I would like to use in a flash project of mine, however the script is not action script. Normally you embed it into a webpage and when I send the page to a friend and it is open, it makes their cd eject. Its very harmless but funny! Now the problem is I'm not allowed to make the flash open to the page with the script in it or the project gets removed. I am wondering if there is a way to simply put the script into a flash button located in my project? That way it does the same thing and stays in the orginal flash when the user clicks the button.

i need anyone help me to write in arabic language in flash, it's lot of text copied from word file and i could do it using flash mx 2004 and readable just in windows xp because it's unicode and ofcourse not readable in windows 98 ..and i need it to make cd readable in all windows..pls anyone can advice me??
How To Change Font Language In Flash?
Any Flash work are mostly done using English Language. But i need to know, how to use a different language like (Arabic, French, Any Indian Language)?
I have installed the rrequired fonts in my machine. I have also changed the .dll fill as directed in Microsoft Help. I have changed the reginal options inside the control Panel.
When i type any word using any of this languge other than English, Word document or Notepad or create a webpage, the font is utilized with the corresponding language. But in Flash, what must be done? Should i need to use action scripting? Or any other alternative?
Please suggest me a proper method....

Changing Language Of Flash Installation...

I am running a german operating system and thus also have a german version of MM studio installed...Problem is that I would like to change it to English, but there is no license available for an English version at my company. So...my question is if anyone knows a different way to do this.... I have read on a different forum that it's possible to change the registry file to English, or add an english.txt file to the settings folder but neither method has worked so far...
Any feedback on this issue would be greatly appreciated!

Should Flash Player Recognize OS Language?

this should be just a plus to my site, this one have to version, one "NL" and the other "FR" (Dutch and French).
The question is: Should the flash payer recognize the language of the OS? Like if I have a French version of my windows, when the site loads load the "FR" version of this.
Should this be posible?

Hi friend, please help.
I'm just working on the big flash presentation and there are couple of language versions. And there is also Russia language. For example, I have some text in Word in Russia in normal Arial. No problem. I copy it and paste in Photoshop. It works. But, when I paste it in textfield in flash, I get something like ???? ??? ????? ?? ? ? ??? ???. How can I use russia language in text fields. Do I have to have some russia font ? Or is there some special settings in flash for that ??

Send Variable To Flash To Change Language.
Hi,
I want to make my movie french/english. so i will save some space on my server and the user will save dl time too.(I want to do this because if the user choose the language the movie will be already preloaded, so the language will not be a condition to start preloading the right movie) i will just have to send some variable to put all the text in french or english.
I want to do this from the HTML, I have made all my text french/english. How can i tell my movie to show or hide(every texts) depending on the HTML PAGE they are within?
Maybe this will use instance, or variable text field... i don't know

What method do the best designer pages use to change all content of the site into a different language once a button is clicked?
Would they store all text in a a .text file and load it appropriately? If so, how would I implement this? I am not an advanced user (unfortunately!)

First off, I have read all your sposts on this topic on the forums already, but have a few more specific questions and don't know anyone else who speaks Arabic
I’m working on a BIG Flash project atm that needs support for right-to-left languages. At this time we need to display them only (drawn from an XML file); we don’t need people to be able to input sentences or anything into the SWF. We figure, since Flash doesn’t natively support RTL languages, we will have to take the string we’ve been given and reverse it using String.reverse() before putting it in a right-aligned text field. Seems like a simple solution. Having never written in Arabic though, I can’t be sure it will still display things correctly.
I also wonder what will happen if we have an Arabic sentence such as:

Someone who wrote Arabic would write this from right to left, but the English numbers stay in the right order as far as I’m aware, like this: “stac 42 eht”. But if we go reversing strings to get them to show up right, it will show us as “stac 24 eht” which is of course wrong. I know that Java and most Windows apps have native support for mixed Arabic and English but Flash obviously doesn’t.
I’ve read up at the Right-To-Flash site, the Unicode site and at a number of good resources such as http://www.quasimondo.com/archives/000217.php#217 . All of them seem to suggest the easiest solution would just be to use Flash as a dummy client and pass it strings which are already backwards. Which is fine for our purposes.
Finally, as I say, we only need to be able to display stuff, but if down the line we want to be able to have people type things in I have two other questions:
1. Do people (particularly high-school students) in Arab-speaking countries understand the western number system?
I know our number system is actually based on the Arabic system, but we need people to use Latin characters, not the Arabic characters. Like we need them to enter an answer to a question in the form of “42”, not using Arab characters, and not right-to-left or anything like that. I guess this is more a cultural question than a technical one.
2. Does Flash support typing in Arabic characters into a SWF? I can copy and paste them in and it works but I don’t know how to type them so I don’t know if that works and I’ve read it doesn’t. I know Flash doesn’t support right to left typing and that’s cool but can people at least enter characters by typing on their keyboard, regardless of the order they show in?

By mistake I bought the Chinese Edition CD of Studio MX 2004 and now everything; i.e; menus, dialog boxes etc. appears in Chinese... Can somebody tell me a way to fix that and make everything appear in English? Please help... Emergency... Very urgent... I'll be extremely grateful.
Tamil Language Support In Flash Mx 2004
I am pitching for this flash website project with a company who wishes to have their website designed in tamil language. (I'm not an indian, and I don't read nor write tamil fyi)
They will provide the fonts they wish to use, and all the text copy in .doc format, so we are just copying and pasting all the tamil characters.
i am working on flash mx pro 2004, on a mac os x platform. can anyone advise on whether i would require a special language support plugin or the likes?

Flash Headers That Change When Language Is Changed?
I'm doing a project for a client and they are s aying how they want the headers to be flash, this way they can change the language of the website and the headers will change. This is what was just sent to me

Adding Language Selector Function To Flash
Hello,
I'm designing a flash for use on my e-commerce php web site. I want to insert a language selector function into my flash, so it always appears at the upper right corner. The function is calling a lang.php file from Boxes folder which in place displays language icons and allows to select a desired language. The function requires just one line of code: <?php require(DIR_WS_BOXES . 'lang.php'); ?>
Could anybody please advise me on how to add this function to the flash?
