I am a newbie and I am working on a project where I have several flash files that I've published as html files. I need to connect one html file to another but I want to connect to a specific scene.I can't figure it out.

I want to connect jimandkathyjones.html to step4.html, scene 5.

I'm just beginning to learn how to work with flash. Now I have created a Menu in flash. It consists of a main menu, and 5 sub-menus. The flash movie has 6 scenes: Scene1 = the main menu, and scene 2 - 6 are the submenus.

Is it possible to make an HTML link to for example Scene 3 in this Flash movie? If so, tell me how!

I have a fla file that one of the buttons link to a .htm file on my website. However, I dont know how to go back to the .fla file? I have images in .htm format but the user to be able to get back to the main menu that is on the .fla in a scene. What would be the button link for the .htm file? Hello all,

I'm hoping someone out there has been able to do this. I've tried looking around and have found somethings to try but they haven't worked. It seems like it would be a relatively common script to do, but I haven't been able to find the solution.

In my Flash site I have a buttom that I use to load a .swf file into using loadMovie. My questions is, how would I load to a specifc scene or frame in that loaded .swf file?

I don't have the code on hand but I have been trying to use something like this:

on release Load Movie cd.swf and goto scene 4

This hasn't really been successful. Is there a simple script to load a .swf to a specific scene? I'd appreciate any help.

Hi, I am a beginner actionscript coder and am in a quandry about how to link a small swf file (just a button, in fact) on an html page to the final frame of another, independent flash movie. This is so that the user won't have to view that movie to get to the menu at its end. The whole project will be distributed on a CD. Thanks for any input and please explain as simply as possible. It should be something like...

...but where I want to get linked to another file in frame 8.
Do I just simply rewrite _root to something else?

My version is Flash 8 pro. I have created a .swf file that contains up to 10 scenes, and realized that it takes far too long to publish, or even to test movie. So now I've decided to create a new .swf for my other webpages. How do I use the
on(release) command on my buttons in my first .swf file to link to a specific scene in my second .swf file?
Example. I have 2 files <first.swf> and <second.swf>.
I want a button in <first.swf> to link to the third scene in <second.swf>.

I hope someone can help me as I've been googling all morning and have not been able to find out how to do this.

Basically I am editing a Flash template. Half of the site is in Flash and half just basic html. The flash part is made up of only one .swf file.

I am trying to create a basis <a href> link in HTML that will go to a specific scene and frame within that Flash file. So I can't just link to the .swf file because it will load at the beginning which I don't want.

It's probably quite easy and I apologize if that's the case. I'm learning Flash.

Can Flash Link To Specific Page In Pdf?
If anyone can help I'd appreciate it. I'm working on a piece that uses code to open acrobat from a button within flash. Works fine except I'd like to open it to a specific page if possible and I'm wondering if there is some sort of command line I could add in or something to that extent.

Flash Jester and Adobe Acrobat forum seem to say it's not possible but I wondered if any Flashers out there may have beat the system.

Flash Link To Open In Specific Place
Hello, I'm working here at my school on a new website design. So far i made a top menu that has categories that drop down on over, etc. So there is a top menu and there are menu's that drop down from that. I need to link the buttons in the menu to open in a box below the menu. I have tried to place the whole thing in flash and have the links somehow open in a dynamic text box or anything i could think of that was placed over the specific window. I also tried seperating the flash part and then having the rest be images and tables, but the flash file is tall, so that the menus have room to fall down, and it has a transparant background so if i seperate the swf and the pics int tables i end up with

| | - then the box i want the links to open in, with some trim, etc.

I have also tried to use Adobe image ready to slice the image up, and have that box be a seperate slice. I ended up actually cutting up the image into slices so i could make that box a table in itself. I then uploaded the .psa onto flash and made the whole menu and box one flash file. This made it so i had a Text "I" cursor whenever i went over that box, with the flash links merely opening new pages. The "I" suggested i seperated that section to a table.. but i wasn't clear on how to name it so i could target it.

SO the actionscript i'm using for the buttons is:

on(press) {
getURL("Link","_mainframe");
}
on (rollOut) {
gotoAndPlay(1);
}

The target is a page called _mainframe. That's what i tried to name the box image slice able.

Can anyone help me?

Html Link To Specific Point In Flash
My FLASH site is set up by having 4 sections each with a IF TRUE PLAY FORWARD, if not PLAY BACKWARD.

I want an HTML link to open this site and play the "WORK" section that doesnt play from the beginning. The "ABOUT" section does.

How would I make this link in HTML that would make workSec="true" so that flash would play this section out instead of aboutSec?

Button In Scene 1 Loads A Specific Mc In Scene 2?
Unfortunately my brain isn't really designed for understanding or figuring our ActionScript very well... Here's what I'm trying to do and the problem:

The user arrives at a 'splash screen' in Scene 1 which gives them the option to choose to view the demo in 'interactive' or 'autorun' mode (the two modes are slightly different in terms of their content so I'll have two separate scenes, Scene 2 will contain all the 'interactive' movie clips and Scene 3 will contain all the 'autorun' movie clips). The user can then choose whether they'd like to view the demo with the sound on or off. Once they've made this selection they'll be taken to the opening animation of the mode (i.e. interactive or autorun) they selected, with the sound on or off as they specified.

What ActionScript needs to be applied to the sound on or off buttons in Scene 1 to ensure that the correct sound movie clip loads at the beginning of Scene 2 or Scene 3.

If the user initially decided to view the demo in autorun mode they will be able to change to interactive mode at any time... how can I ensure the sound setting they have selected remains unchanged across Scenes (and they can choose to turn the sound on or off at any time)?

I need to create this as a single SWF - I can have as many Scenes and movie clips as is necessary but cannot use loadMovie and multiple SWF's

If anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear them! I just can't figure it out and I'm getting REALLY desperate!

Hi I'm still learning a lot to do with actionscript and not even sure if this can be done so this is a long shot!

I want to have a link in html to load an xml file in a swf - haha does that make sense??

Eg: The user to be able to click on the websites link on "http://crushdesign.co.uk/links.html"
Then that take them to "http://crushdesign.co.uk/portfolio.html" BUT in the Web section of the swf!

What may I add to the script make i work proberly???

I have a web site that is mostly flash. However - I am also using mambo for content management for non-flash pages that are part of the same site. I can click a link in the flash movie that will take my browser to the specific html page, no problem - but is it possible to do the reverse - have the html link goto the flash?
For instance: I would like in the html page a link that goes specifically to 'frame 100' of the flash movie that loads the 'contact' flash form. Is it possible to link to a html page that contains the flash movie and have it goto that specific frame?
I would like this to be seamless in the same browser. Right now I have the flash popup the html pages for those specific links.

I'm trying to make a link from one flash site to another, but not just to the home page of it, but to a specific part of it. For example, I run jumpgallery.com and am wanting to make the direct links from the websites of the seven artists involved (mostly flash sites) to their specific page on the jumpgallery.com site... does that make sense?

I guess it depends on how I have structered my site, but does anyone have a starting point?

Making Flash Goto Specific Place On Timeline From Clicking A Link

Should be quite an easy question for you guys!

I have an swf embedded in an html page. Now when you come to this page from another html page by clicking a specific link I need the flash to go to a certain place on the timeline.

Whats the best way to do this? I have a coder who is coding in .NET and ASP.

I assume it would have something to do with a cookie in the browser?

HTML Link To A Specific Movie Clip In A Flash Site That Uses MovieLoad
Hi,

I need to be able to have an HTML link take the user to another full Flash website. But it doesn't take you to the beginning of the Flash site, rather, it takes you to a specific page in that Flash site.

Only problem is, the Flash site itself uses movieLoad function to load different movie clip into the content area.

How do I pass variable into flashVar to link to a specific movie clip when it is using movieLoad?

I am working with someone's old Flash file which is a site composed in multiple scenes. However, I have run into a problem where we need to actually control the entry of the site.

I want to be able to send a user directly to a specific part of the site, i.e. the "About Page" or "Client 1 Page".

I would like to use a simple variable passing through HTML, (testing_url.com/?page=client&Name=Mercedes) to direct the swf movie, though I am not sure how I would setup the Actionscript within the Flash Movie.

Sorry for not using the right Terminology, its been years since I have opened flash...

Targeting A Flash Scene From An HTML Link?
Hi folks, I'm new here and would appreciate any assistance you can offer with this...

Here's the scenario:
I'm using a flash navigation panel with a number of options that's inside frameA. The options in this panel target HTML pages in frameB, say for example: an "option2" link targets page 2 in frame B then moves to scene2 to show the active state of the option.

This part is straightforward, but what I'm wondering is:

Say I'm on the HTML page 1 in frameB and I click on a link that says "option2". I'd like the flash nav in frameA to reflect this change in context. That is since I'm now looking at "option2" the nave in frameA should reflect that.

Is there any way to target a Flash Scene based on link are that clicked through in corresponding HTML pages?

For an example of what I'm talking about, check out the Flaming Lips site:

If you click the "Downloads" tab, you'll notice the the nav goes to an active state for downloads. Now return to the home page and click "Downloads" in the "New Lips screensaver" bucket in the HTML part of the center frame (underneath the large picture, 2nd bucket down on the right). You'll notice the center frame refreshes, and after a moment, the nav moves to the proper active state of "downloads".

Any ideas on how this works?

I am having a small issue getting this to work.

I want to click a standard old link on an HTML page and have it open a swf and go directly to a certain scene (or in this case a certain point on the timeline).

Is this possible? I'm guessing its Javascript but I'm at a loss at how to do this.

How do I go from 1 scene in a file, to a specific scene in another file? Must I use those Named Anchors, and whats the scripting then??

How Do I Direct A Button In 1 Flash Movie To A Specific Scene In Another Flash Movie
I have a separate flash 5 movie which is a bank of buttons inside an html page.
This page is accessible from my main flash site but how do i get back into the main flash site and into the specific scenes relating to each of the buttons on the button bank?
I have tried using variables but I havn't quite managed to get it to work yet.

Hi, I have thirteen scenes, each one has 2 frames, one with audio (loadSound) one without. What's the best way to tell flash when a user clicks on a nav button (which calls a scene) to go to the 1st or 2nd frame of the scene depending on if the previous scene was playing the 1st or 2nd frame?

I am using these sound file Know i wanted to stop a "sound2.wav" and wanted to start sound3.wav after stopping sound2.wav.

Hey

Is it at all possible to call a specific scene in a .SWF file using HTML code? I think it should be possible with a variable passed on the URL to the .SWF file and having some actionscript responding according to the value of the variable. But I am not sure of how to go about it.

Is there anybody out there who could help me thorugh this problem please?
