Linking From A Button?
I have created a icon...well button if you say it, with all the actions like, pushing it down turns it black, etc...
Now, the problem is like, how do i link this button to do something. Therefore putting a link onto the button, so that when someone pushes it, it will link that person to a different page, different place, or more simple like e-mail action (mailto.?
Please help me out on this topic. Tell me in as much detail as possible, beacause i aint that smart and cannot get details in one shot ^^"". Thx^^

Linking To A Button
I have two related questions. First, how can you call a button into a scene (from a library) on another MC's mouseUp? Second, once this button is in the scene, how can you animate it using the same mouseUp as before? Basically, I want a button to appear to come into the scene from the top of the screen and move into place. If this can't be done with a button, how can it be done with a MC?

Linking Button
I am using Flash mx and I can't get my button to link to the main page of my site. I have an intro page with a flash intro and at the end of the intro I have a button appear. But when I click on the button, it doesn't link to my main page. The main page is just a normal page, no flash or anything. Could someone please help me with the action script for the button? Linking A Button.
I've tried and tried. I've learned how to make a button do rollovers, but when I try to link it I can't. For some reason when I add an actionscript from the timeline, it fowards me to the link right away. I was told I needed to add the script from somewhere else, but I can't figure out how. Others have done it for me, but when I try it doesnt work.

I've tried to add the script from the window where it says :up, over, down and hit, but when I do the actionscripts are nonclickable and faded.

Please help.

i made a movie with buttons.. and in the movie i have the main buttons.. i want the subheadings for each to link to different scenes. what script does that? ive used this but it wont link to a different scene once i insert the movie into the main movie. kind hard to explain..

I am trying to link a button to a url within my flash movie. I made an invisible button and I have the keyframe from beginning to the end of the movie. I am only using one scene. the problem is that in the output window is stating

when I preview the swf file it works fine, when it is put up on the site, when you click on the banner the website opens up inside the banner not in another browser or a new window.

Button Swf Linking
I am using Flash MX and am having some trouble. I am sure this is really easy but i just cant get it to work.I am trying to get have a main.swf file and then when someone clicks a button on that swf file the button opens a new swf ontop of the other swf file in a target area, so the orignal swf button and everything still exist.So far i have this code, but it doesnt seem to work:

Is it possible if i have a button in a movie clip called MC-1 and MC-1 is in a movie clip called MC-2, the button can go to frame two of MC-2 not the movie clip thats it's in - MC-1...

hi, I have created a button symbol with an actionscript linking to an external URL. I have tested the button with "test movie" and it works fine. However, when I try it within a browser with the HTML, the button doesn't link to the URL. I'm stuck.. any ideas?

Button Linking Help?
Hi, i'm trying to accomplish this:

Click one of 5 buttons, on each click play the same movie (in this case the next frame in the scene until frame 10, then it stops). Once the movie has finished, determine which button was clicked and goto that page (gotoURL(members.html,_self) for example when the members button is clicked).
How do i accomplish this?

Help With Linking A Button?
Ok, so I'm making a small little choose your own adventure type game in flash, just using buttons to navigate between the screens, fairly simple. I have the first frame with two buttons, one links to start, the other links to info. the second button works fine. when i launch the start button, it takes me to a movie clip on the third frame. this clip plays till it gets to frame 75, where i have actionscript follows.

getout is a labeled instance of a button in the library, which I want to take me to the next frame, but for the moment I just want it to replay so I know that it works, which is why it's linked to "home" now.

Every time frame 75 loads, i get the following error.

TypeError: Error #1006: addEventListener is not a function.
at Symbol1/::frame75()

I used the same method to link buttons on the first frame, and now it isn't working on this one. Any ideas?

Ok, this is driving me insane. I have made a button in a second layer that has a roll over and roll out command. What it does is, I have a picture and when you hover over it it starts to scroll through images, then when you take the mouse off it stops. If you put the mouse back over it continues from where it left off. The button has 0 alpha, so it's on top of the movie the whle time, you just can't see it, so the images below show through. Now I'm trying to make it so that if you click on the movie it will link to a web site.
Here is the code for the button when the movieis playing:

}

So it won't let me link to a page if you click the button. I tried to make another button ontop of this one but then the roll over effect doen't work. I'm am going insane with this and really need some help please.

Button Linking
Hi, I'm having a slight problem with linking my buttons.

For example, if I have a flash document newly opened and I create four layers, I would have, on one layer, a keyframe. On there, a movie-clip and a button. These are animated etc. over a timeline, however not on the main one with four layers, instead the timeline you find when you double-click the mc/button, which has just the one layer (from which you get back to the main four layers by clicking Scene 1 etc.)

What I would like to know is how do I link the button on this, so-called, sub-timeline with one layer, to a frame and a different timeline found in the main section of four layers.

I hope you know what I mean, if not, I'll try to clarify. Thanks for any help.

sorrie....ima newb.. i made a menu bar in flash with buttons on it....i would like it to link to my page im making in dreamweaver......on myu page, i have a left and right frame, i want the menu in the left, and wherever the link takes to the right, i tried the _parent link, but it links it to the left frame, any idea on how to link to the right frame?

Neeb Help Linking, Button And More
I have a problem, I want really cool text and I have found it but don´t know how to really create it. The adress is:

New To Mx And Already Having Problem With Button Linking
I have a 2 keyframe movie. On the first KF is a stop action and on the second is some text. I want the 2nd KF to load onto my stage once a button is pressed.

Animated Button Not Linking Right
Hi, I'm trying to get my animated button to call properly but I do not know how? I have a button that is animated and moves left to right. The animated button is a movie with a button inside of it. I successfully programmed it in the actions of the movie part of the button to stop whenever the user rollsover the animated button and start animating again when the user rolls off the animated button. But, that is not the problem. The problem is- is I want that button to call an action (sliding doors) on the same scene and same base but different layer. It will not work.

I know how, with the telltarget commands to make a button call a movie. But, when programming the button part of the animated button movie to do so, it does nothing. What do I need to do to make it work? Do I need to write something in the movie part of the animated button? If the button was not animated I would know how to do this, but because it is animated, I am running into major problems. Oh yeah, I am using MX.
Remember the animated button is a movie with a button inside of the movie.

If anybody can understand what I just wrote and has any advice, it would be much appreciated. THANKS.

I've created an intro for my website. Everything is working perfectly however I'd like to add a feature that if any part of the intro flash file is clicked, it is skipped and the website opens. I created an invisible graphic that covers the entire area, and then converted it to a button.
