Is it possible to load a website page into an SWF?
I'm looking to make a movie and load the newest home page of Yahoo.com
I want to load it as large thumbnail that is clickable and bring me to Yahoo
anyone have any ideas?

Can You Load This Yahoo Map. Swf With Flashvars In To Another Swf?
Hallo
I have got this Yahoo flash map application which is an Dreamweaver Component from http://www.alvena.de/ext/flash_yahoo_maps.html. Is there a way to load this swf with flash vars in to an other swf. Could you give me some pointers or point me to a tutorial if it is possible I haven't been able to find one yet.

What's The Best Way To Load A Website In Flash?
SO I have designed a site in photoshop and have imported the images into flash as pngs, but to animate my site loading the pieces of the site, if I just use the single timeline, the file size will be too big right? I have also heard to use individual movie clips and place them on the main movie, but if you do that, you can't see it, it's just a little dot, but it is there when you preview howver I like to see what I'm working on right there on the canvas. I guess I want load times to be cut down but I want a fairly slick animation sequence to get my page loaded. What should I do? Thanks

Flash Website Load Time Help
Hopefully some of you flash experts can help me. I just created my first flash site for my church at medinahbaptistchurch.org. The site is mostly flash objects embedded in html using dreamweaver. The whole site is less than 1 mb but it seems like the flash objects take a long time to load. For instance, a flash object that is about 200k takes 8 seconds on a 256k connection. And it looks like crap because there are white boxes when the objects are loading. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?

Flash Website Wont Load In Browser
I searched for an answer to my question and didnt come up with anything that solved my problem, so I decided to sign up and post about it and see if I could get some help.
Im currently making a portfolio website in flash and im having problems with the movie loading in the browser. On my mac, in safari and firefox, the site loads fast and works fine (except my own user mistakes). Last night I jumped on my PC and in firefox it worked great, but IE and the browser that came with the DSL will not load the movie. It will open the page, the background color will load and the page will get to about halfway loaded and just sit there taking forever to load. I let it sit quite a while last night and never got it to fully load. So on the mac its fine, and in firefox on my pc its fine, just the other two browsers had problems.
Im thinking it has to be something with the way the html is embedding the .swf or something along these lines, but maybe its just the browsers and theres nothing I can do about that.
I saw that to post links you have to have 10 posts, and I obviously dont have that. So I could just give the name of my website or post the html code for somebody to review and see if there is a problem.
I should also state that my flash movie only has 4 frames and all the animation and navigation are done in movie clips that get called to on the main time line.
Thank you for any advice you can give, and if the code needs to be posted please let me know.

Quick White Flash Before Flash Load On Website
Hello. I'm fairly new to flash and built a website, that does both images and flash. I have 3 flash files, 1 for a top animation, 1 for a navigation, and 1 for my bottom header. Anytime I load a page or click a link to visit the next page from an external link, like going from page1.html to page2.html, it instantly loads everything besides the flash files, which blink WHITE for half a second, then displays the content in the flash files. I've looked up some information on google.com, and came across what some other have recommended to other users having the same issue, which they mention using a preloader.

So, I tired to create a preloader with no luck at all. I followed instructions perfectly to add in a preloader for my animation but i kept getting errors upon a preloader loading and it wouldn't load the content. Now, my project in Flash 8 looks like this, have 1 layer on the timeline, which that 1 layer has 1 frame, which that 1 frame has a movie on the fram and when you double click it, then leads to the animation I created for that movie. (i've provided images below for you guys to see.)

My question would be:
How do I add in a preloader for a project from the above images i've posted? Flash Video SLOWS DOWN WEBSITE LOAD, Plays Choppy
Hello,
I am a designer that has encoded .Mov files to .Flv in CS3 Flash Video Encoder. They look and play great when previewing on my hard drive, but once uploaded to the development server, the pages load much slower and the video soemtimes stops & lags, like it is waiting for it to load.
Encoded On2 VP6, Progressive, 246kbps video, 64kbps audio; resized to 320x240. I create the pages in Dreamweaver CS3 and insert the Flv video in it. File sizes range from 5mb-13mb. There are a lot of videos on this website, approx. 20, but only one per page. Do we need a Flash Video Hosting service? The site will be hosted by godaddy.com.

How Did They Do This On Yahoo In Flash?
Hi, i have a question concerning the kewl advertising in flash on the current yahoo site. As you can see, the first time a visitor visits the yahoo.com homepage it shows GET GOOFY THIS SUMMER in the center of the browser screen and then shrinks to an ad in the marketplace section on the homepage of yahoo. The advertorial is from Travelocity.com. Can anyone tell me how to make some sort of ad also like this?

Flash Yahoo Map
I have seen some good stuff regarding Yahoo maps sometime ago from
ESTUDIOWORKS. Hope is still around because i have a problem with setting up my map.
I got a map geocoded by address method, but I need to do it by Lat and Lon
and I got lost looking at Yahoo tutorials.
Second the map has several markers with a SWF in them , but I don't know how to insert different swf in the markers at different locations.

Yahoo Messenger Status (Flash)
Right, im currently producing my page, and ive sorted a really neat flash email icon with mouse over.
What im wondering is... would someone be able to produce some kind of button so that when the user mouse over, it states if the user is online in Yahoo Messenger when mouse is hovered over. If this is not possible then is doesnt matter but I have asked another person who is pretty well knowleged about actionscript and he cannot seem to get it to work.
I know basic actionscript but this is waaayyy beyond my knowledge of flash.

I need to create a 6 buttons flash menu, very similar to the js one at Yahoo!.
The content is not the problem, but I would like to make all the "moving" in AS.
So far I'm using some _root variables and onEntereFrame to _yscale. but i'm not a programmer and I'm going nuts
Is there a way to add easing to the _yscale?
How could I use setinterval to delay the onEnterFrame "rollout" like yahoo's?

Yahoo Flash Maps API - &mag Parameter
I've put together a map that when you click a marker, it pops up a
"directions" box. When you enter your info and hit send, it sends this
string to yahoo:

This works and populates the correct items in maps, however, it
doesn't pass the &mag=10 part of the string, sort of. Initially (if
you watch the URL) its there, but then defaults to &mag=5 once the url
is finished loading.
Any idea of what might cause this? Can I force that mag=10 somehow?

Any Tutorials On Dhtml Flash? Like Advertisments On Yahoo
Anyone see those dthml ads on yahoo.com. they are very annoying but cool at the same time. Any tutorials on how to do it?... Further clarification... Basically its a flash movie ontop of the current html... and it is moving on top of the html. then it goes away, and u have access to all portions of the html document. (but pretend be4 the flash was moving over the right side of the screen, u couldnt click on html layer underneith that). Hope someone knows what i talking about. Thanx!

Yahoo Maps Flash AS API - CustomSWFOverlay Question
Has anyone figured out how to have swf overlays track with the map panning and zoom correctly? I can't seem to find out how to do this properly. I have a jury-rigged fix, but it's unpredictable and even when I get the zoom correct, I can't get the positioning correct of the overlay once I have panned the map from the original starting position.
there is so little out there on this stuff because it si relatively new. google-ing is useless, anyone have experience with this?

Vista + Flash Player 9 + Yahoo E-mail = Bad
I've verified this on 3 machines so I'm a bit convinced it is a real problem. I started having problems typeing in e-mails in Yahoo mail. It may be occuring in other dialog boxes, but I've only verified it in Yahoo mail. One 3 seperate machines runing Vista in either 32 bit or 64 bit versions, I've noticed that Adobe's flash player has a memory resident "flash helper" in version 9. When that process is active, typing often drops characters. Once I kill the process, then typing resumes to normal functionality. Can anyone else verify this problem?

Problem W/ Flash Page In Yahoo Web Space
I have recently designed a simple web page in Dreamweaver for a person which contains a simple flash intro. Everything runs smoothly on my web space. When I fetched my files to their Yahoo! web space, the flash no longer exists on the page. It is still in the code, and should automatically play, but it is not there, no icon, no movement, nothing. I double-checked and all of my files are uploaded. Can someone give me some suggestions or is this a limitation of Yahoo's services?

Yahoo Maps API , In Flash Working With A Datagrid
Hey All,
So i have completed the porject that i was begging for help on and it cam off WONDERFULLY . Thanks to all that helped.
Now i want to spice it up a bit.
I have a database containing my list of items, and have input all the appropriate data.
Now what i would like to do is integrate the Yahoo Maps API in my project.
I have gotten this far.
I can load a combo box from a database, and output an XML file from the combo box, to load the appropriate data into a datagrid. I would now like to take the data from the data grid and generate a Yahoo map on the bottom section of the site.
So for instance, user selects. Category, and then a sub item.
once the sub item is selected , it would then send a command to a database using PHP, and search for the appropriate makrers to place on the map.
So if someone selects the college , Texas A&M from the data grid. The yahoo map would load below and list all the apartment complexs we have associated with A&M and would place markers on the map accordingly

Trouble With Flash Form And Yahoo Server
Hey,
I am working on trying to intigrate a form into a flash based site that i am working on.

if you goto "contact us" you will see where i had set up a form in refference to senocular's tutorial: http://www.kirupa.com/developer/actionscript/flash_php_email.htm
The server that the site is being hosted on is a yahoo server... Im not sure why its not working and am needing some help.

please take a look at the files and if anyone is familiar with the yahoo servers and how they interact with flash forms, please help me out.

Unbelievable Flash Player Download Page With Opt Out Yahoo Bar
Hi all - I just went to the MM flash player download page and found they have now also included a 'Get Yahoo toolbar with flash player download' as well! I thought MM would never lower themselves to this sort of standard - it is something I would expect of Microsoft! What makes matters worse is that it is an opt-out, not opt-in, service so unsuspecting users will get the toolbar if they just click the button.
More fool them people may say, but how many people have created multimedia websites and cdroms that have content that say 'Flash player required, simply click here and go to the Macromedia website and click the Install Flash Player button'? How many unsuspecting users will now have this toolbar installed as well?? And to compound the problem, MM have a statement regarding the XP Service Pack 2 Active X blocker, that instructs you how to switch it off if a warning appears so that the flash player can be installed - what if the Yahoo toolbar also has activex commands (I'm no AX expert, so I am talking worst case scenario.) in it that I probably do not want but under MM's guidence I will now get!!
I may sound as if I am on my high horse, but I am outraged by companies duping people into downloading software that they do not require, especially when there is Terms and Conditions attached as there is here and you have to opt OUT not to receive it - MM have dropped to the level I think in this case of knowing their player has world wide acknowledgement and appeal and is cashing in on it by getting Yahoo to pay them for basically advertising space.

Puzzling Redirect Error On Flash Adaption Of Yahoo Form
I'm a little confused at the error I am receiving when attempting to setup a form on a Yahoo hosting account. Yahoo supplies standard html code to setup their forms which I have tested on http://www.affairs-with-flair.com/test_form.html . This redirects to my thankyou page perfectly.
The line of redirect code in the form function of the html is:
<input type="hidden" name="next_url" value="http://affairs-with-flair.com/thankyou.html">
I have adapted this html code into a flash version with the following function triggered by the submit button.

The form processes perfectly but does not redirect to the specified thankyou page. Instead it stops on the results page. I have checked that the url is being passed to the script. This puzzles me, anyone have any idea what could be causing the redirect not to work?

[F8] Need Different SWF To Load On Website
Hello,
I need a different SWF file to load into a website each time the website is loaded. The SWF is being created in Flash 8. However, we are probably going to save it for an earlier version of Flash for compatability reasons. The website is being done in Dreamweaver 8.
Is this something I do with Flash, or is it a Javascript command?

Pre Load All Website At A Point.

Is there a way that i can set my site to pre load all the files, my website uses, to memory at a given point in my intro scene.
Ie no preloading on each section just one preload at the start at a set point

Load Movie Help On Website
Hi I have created a website at www.freshlemon.co.uk/paragon/home.html
the website runs fine moving between pages using loadmovie into a blank movie clip, however i decided to creat drop down menu's on the nav bar for products and contact details, when using the buttons from drop down when the the movie plays it plays over the whole site so main nav bar disappears, example of this is when u click on contact details from contact us button, what i want to happen is what the other nav buttons do, can someone please help really desperate thanx
