Flash :: Loading Straight To A Certain Scene.

Preloader Not Loading - Straight To 100%

I have finished a site.

The problem is that with one loaded movie, the preloader is refusing to countdown, as in the page stalls when loading, you briefly see the preloader image at "100%", then the movie plays.
This is a minor irritation on fast connections. On slower ones, I get the complaint "I see no page - where is it ??"

To see the problem, click the button About Us.
Then, click inlingua Puerto Rico.

The preloader works fine when I test it alone here on my PC. I have double checked everything and still no joy. This problem is holding up the publishing of the site.
Please let me know if you have any ideas on this one. I have a feeling its navigational but baffled as to where.

i'm trying to read in the URL displayed in flash

if i do this:

i get:

http://domain.com/myFlashMovie.swf

but i what i actually want is:

http://domain.com/myFlashMovie.htm

plus whatever i pass through the URL

e.g.

http://domain.com/myFlashMovie.htm?canUCme

I'm trying to set up a flash website for the first time and I've run into a few problems. Basically my site seems to take ages to load when I preview it with my preloader despite the fact that I have kept files as small as possible. My only explanation is that the preloader laods the entire site at once so I was wondering if there is a way to load it one scene at a time? at the moment my loader finds the total size of the site and compares it to how much has been loaded so far. Is there a way to find out the total size of the first scene instead?

I hope this makes sense and any help on making my site smaller would also be appreciated.

Help, It Keeps Loading From The 1st Loading Scene When The Site Is Online
Please Help? I made a flash site with intro, main page and several sub-pages. Each sub pages is a seperate swf file with loading scene above it. And the main page contains 3 scenes...first is preload scene, second is intro movie and the last is the main page layout. It works perfectly in my local computer, when I upload online...things mess up...After the into movie and main page scene fully loaded and played...when I tried to click into the sub pages...it could not go to sub page loading scene...rather than it jumps back to the very first intro loading scene...it keeps happen the same thing until the whole sub pages movie were loaded. Question? How can I fix this problem...I am thinking is the mistakes of the loading scene. I am so confuse right now...don't know how to do...interesting is, it works perfect locally and totally mess up when the site is online...

Loading New Scene(s) Without Scene(s)

I have a site with 7 buttons, with 3 sub menu buttons each, and a "area" where when hit the text will load in a scroll pane kinda thing. Pretty Simple......

Problem is, how do I link each of the text scenes for each button, without loading a new scene.. which I REALLY don't wana do... I could do the simple thing and load each text scrool pane into a movie clip, and have the button play them... but then what happens when I hit a different button... the text overlaps.. and looks like a pile of crap.. and I don't know how I can incoperate something to make it close, I could adda close button, obviously..... but most people would rather just hit another one rather than closing, then opening closing and opening again...

How can I make something that will auto close the open one when hit the other buton.. Or is there anything I can do.

Can I incoperate a mask behind each movie clip, but infront of th text so when I load a new movie cip with text it loads above the mask but the mask blocks out the old text still???

Anything at all???

Is there any way when loading an external movie to make it start from a specific scene rather than having to start at scene 1 frame1?

I'm new to all this actionscript thing, and I would like to know if it is possible to load a swf into another swf but going straight to scene 2 rather than scene1.
I'm sorry if this sounds like a silly question.

Loading A Scene Vs. Loading A New Movie
When you are in a Flash site and you click a link and a "loading" bar comes up, is it always loading a new flash movie (a whole different .swf file), or is it sometimes loading just a new scene?

If so, how do you make it so a scene does not load until the user clicks a link to take them to that scene?

Let Me Get This Straight...
If I build a fully functional .swf (animation, website, application, whatever...) by using the "loadMovie(proper parameters);" I can have it played right in my main .swf? This is the way I read the docs, but this sounds WAY too easy.

Straight Lines
I need a motion guide to be curved except for either end where it needs to run off into a straight line so I can line the objects that are moving up at the right angle and spacing. I tried just joining a straight line and a curve but they're treated as separate lines and refuse to be used in the same motion guide. Is there any way of joining the two lines without resorting to stretching the end of the curve until it's straight?

Sroll Bar Thats Not Straight?
any body know how to make a scroll bar that isnt in a straight line? Ie the bit that shows where you are in the page follows the contours of the page? I have tried to do it using a basic script and a motion path but it doesnt work properly.

Any ideas?

Can Flash MX (not Flash MX 2004) load FLVs? Can they control them (play, pause, stop, rewind)? I've ransacked this entire board and I keep seeing "use the media component in Flash MX 2004" and I would normally do that but I need to be able to export for Flash MX b/c this is a national audience that the project is geared toward.

LoadVars Help, Can't Get Anything Straight
Hello, i read the posts on the topic "target prob? loadVariables works when testing each swf, but not when loaded in main??" so don't redirect me there! Anyways, my problem is that I have an external text file named "testtext.txt" and I need help loading it into a text box in my flash movie. I am doing tests over and over. LoadVars is a new thing to me and I can't get it right, this type of trial and error I think is bad, because I can't get it all of the time. I need someone that understands LoadVars or someone that could point me in the right direction?

Progress Bar Goes From 1% Straight To 100%
Hi

I have a swf that loads another swf and I wanted to display a progress bar whilst the external swf was loading. This seems to work fine however the Progress Bar doesnt move up from 1% gradually to 100%. It always goes from 1% and jumps to 100% after a a wait and when it has loaded.

The code I have used it below, im probably missing some code for this.

myProgressBar.source = myLoader;
myLoader.contentPath = "loadCMS.swf";

This is your chance to get a newbee to do this stuff "the right way"...

I'm creating a page with multiple FLV's to play using the same video placeholder/loader. When I click button one, I want that FLV to load and play, ... button two to make FLV two load and play in same video placeholder, etc.
Before, and after each video there is a still image to display, and when you click a button to play a video, the still image fades out, and after the video plays, the still image fades back in.

What is the best way to set up this project, keeping in mind I understand a little action script, so I can usually follow along with guidence?

Any help with the actions script would also be very much appriciated!

Loading Scene
I have a slider menu, somewhat like the Barney's type. In the 'home' part of the slider menu, there are buttons that lead to the other sections of the slider. But some of the other sections are heavy in content and will slow the bandwith.

After a button is pushed to make the slider move to another part of the movie, how do I load that part of the movie after the slider stops at the position it is supposed to stop at?

Some examples of what I'm talking about? Anything from Webagent007.com to Bamadvertising.com to even 2advanced.com. They all have the little loader that I'm trying to accomplish.

I have attatched this script to a graphic to make a loading bar grow as my swf is downloading:

Loading Scene.
How can i tell a frame which says loading on it, load the whole movie and go to the next frame. I have seen alot of movies with this loading thing on them, how do i do this?

What i want is preloaded which will load whole site but not this particular scene. So now user will click on particular button, this scene's loading should start and this way i can solve my problem of loading.

Is it possible to upload a .swf file into an MC in a different scene. Lets say I have two scenes. The first one is the preloader and the second scene is the content. I want to stay in the preloader scene until all the external .swf are loaded into the preceding scene. Has any one been able to do this.

Hello Board,

My site has an intro animation which is pretty big so I've made a preloader for it. I'd like for this preloader to play only as long as it takes to load the 'Intro' scene, then for the intro scene to play. After that, I'd like to have a preloader play for the main site and once that's loaded, then it would go onto the next scene.
My main question here is how do I have the first preloader, the 'Intro' preloader, wait 'til just the 'Intro' scene has loaded and not wait for the entire flash site to download?

Run Before Loading New Scene
Here is the sitaution...
When the user click n icon I want the current page to wipe to black before loading the next page's pre loader.

currently I have set up the page so that the wipe is simply a period on the time lime the fades the page to black (alpha tween on a top layer).

If i set the script so that when the button is clicked it goes to and plays the fade section "exit" of the scene, the wipe works.

once i place the code in following that to load the next movie "info2.swf", it loads the movie before the wipe is finsihed.

Hi everyone i am new to this forum, all i was wondering is i am building my website and when it loads it loads the entire movie i have seen many websites wich load one scene at a time and for each picture ect.

SO, I would like to have a preloader before each scene and have the loader ONLY load that scene not any others.could someone please tell me how to do this?

Bending A Straight Line W/ AS
Hi:

I've seen a lot of great animations on the web that involve bending a straight line with AS. Can anyone offer such a script or point me in the directions of a good tute containing one.

As an example, I have an animation in which I want to move the butterfly's antennae in a nautural, curved path:

Also, if anyone knows how to do the wing animation with AS, that would be great too. The above tweened animation [just the wings] is only 7 frames long, but is 24k. The butterfly is a vector drawing, so it is only 6k of that. I think that 18k for a 7 frame animation is a bit much, and would like to convert it to AS, if at all possible.

Boxes With Straight Corners?
How is it possible to get boxes with straight corners in Flash MX? How does Macromedia do this in their web site's current Flash animation? (This one: http://www.macromedia.com/home_movies/home_fma.swf)

If you look at the top right corner, at the square right of "Navigation", when you zoom in, you can see that the box has straight corners. How did they do this? How would you do it?

I have tried to convert lines to fills, however this does not fix the "smooth corner" problem (when I zoom in, the corners are still not straight).

Drawing Straight Lines
Hi all,
First post here. I'm familiar with php/mysql and just now starting with Flash MX.

Question: To create lines that appear to self-draw themselves, is it better to use an animated mask layer or through ActionScripting?

Also, does anyone feel strongly that the upgrade to MX 2004 is justified ?

Can You Add A Point To A Straight Line?
I can't seem to be able to do this, and it's extremely frustrating. Can you just add a vector point to a straight line that you've created in Flash? I can't get a + indicator using the pen tool on the line, I only get a O indicator.

I really need a straight-to-the-point answer about how to use a Flash e-card. I've been trying to send an e-card in the body of an email message and it's not happening. I've just been told that it's not possible.

I've tried to use the HTML format in the Rich text format of the email referencing the swf file on the server and it keeps coming up as a red x.

Do I need to simply link to the swf in order for it to be viewed elsewhere?

Why Cant I Click On A Movie Straight Away?
why is it that once i've placed a flash movie into a HTML page i have to select/activate it by clicking on it before i can start using it? is there any option so i can start using the movie straight away, without having selecting it first?
