I;m looking for 2 tutorials that I know I've come across before but can't remember where. The first one is a navigation one where a marker follows your mouse over the navigation with easing, like this site:

and also a scrollbar for text with out the arrow buttons. So the only way to move the text is to move the scrollbar up and down.

Hi.
Bit of a novice flash user so i'm hoping someone can help me out.
I've got a fixed size text box which i'd like a very simple scrollbar on the side. just an up and down arrow (as in the attached image)

Any «SIMPLE» Slide Show Tutorials Out There?
Hello,
It seems eveywhere I look, guys want to make slide shows as fancy and complex as can be.
All I want to do is a dynamic slide show that will play 20 images from a folder. No fades in or out, no dynamic menu, no automation, no music, just the images with a >btn and a <btn.
Any idea? Any help is greatly appreciated, Oh God I'm lost with actionscript since objects got in there... I know it's for the best, but I still don't get it

Simple Straight Forward Tutorials
I am looking for a reasonable, straight forward tutorial on actionscript. I am pretty familiar with HTML, and JavaScript is less and less scary but I can't seem to wrap my head around using actionscript for anything other than creating a link between pages.
Also, let's suppose someone wanted to take some college courses to become a decent freelance web designer. I've been learning slowly by immersing myself in it, but somethings are completely foreign i.e. php, c++, JavaScript. Actual applying anything I know is difficult because I am missing huge chunks of info.

I know from experience how when you need to know something you want it now, and I am as impatient as the next guy. (trust me) But more often than not it will actually be quicker for you to read thru the tutes and you will learn at a far faster rate. Check the tutes out and see whats there. Everyone is eager to help as much as they can--but they also are looking for help as well with newcomers that need help. Learn what you can from the tutes, as it might be hours or longer before you get a reply anyways. Then whatever you don't get, ask about. And, as a courtesy, it is easier for me to say this than Dave, Pom or Kirupa cause Im not a mod---be eager to share and help others with what you have learned, so it is not always the Mods and the others that help, that do all the werk, cause it is werk to punch in a reply, and often times we do this and the person has fled the boards never to so much as respond to a reply that might have taken someone an hour to type out. Using The "Simple Custom Scrollbar" And "XML" Tutorials
Hellooo, I have posted on this forum a few times in the past when I have really needed help and have always had awesome responses!
My problem I am having involves some pretty simple content loaded from an xml file (which I learned how to do here) and this tutorial for the "Simple Custom Scrollbar" http://www.kirupa.com/developer/flash8/scrollbar.htm.
When I load the content into the "contentMain" movieclip to be scrolled the scrollbar does not recognize that there is any content to scroll.
I am fairly sure I understand why this is happening (I am assuming that it has to do with the info from the xml file not being loaded soon enough for scrollbar actionscript to recognise it is even there)... But my lack of knowledge of actionscript is keeping me from even knowing where to begin solving this problem!
If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. I realize this is a relatively basic question so if it has been answered before in these forums a point in the right direction will do just fine.
I'll attach my fla and xml files if anyone thinks they can help me in my particular case.

With the idea of developing excellence in web communications and dessimating knowledge, Pigtail Pundits (thats the Company I work for) has put up a few basic Flash5 tutorials - aimed at the Graphic Designer.
The tutorials have been written by our Graphic Design team; so the language spoken is not too difficult to understand - except where Macromedia themselves didn't want you to.

Hi , thought i would post here see if im in the right place. I would like to know if there are any tutorials for going from button to movies, or from movie to movie. Does anyone know of a good book to find out how to do this, and interactivity such as u click on something and can change it. catalog ordering something like that. for now what im trying to do is When they click on a button ( say about us, then pick Bob & Linda) i want the page to open with text come up as shown in the movie. then when they click another button i want it to close and open the same way with that information. i have the close automatic right now after a certain time because i dont know how to close it. hope this makes sense after u see example. again thanks for your help.

I Need Tutorials For The Tutorials
When I got Flash MX, I knew it was going to be a challenge, but I didn't think it would be as difficult to learn as I'm finding it to be.
Most, if not all of the tutorials I've found on-line, do not seem to be directed toward the complete newbie such as I. For instance, when a tutorial tells me to create a movie clip, it neglects to tell me how. Therefore, I need tutorials for the tutorials!
I've also downloaded many samples, hoping to take them apart and see how they are done, only to find upon opening them, there's nothing there!? The stage is blank yet the movie will play when tested!?!?
I have spent countless hours on-line searching and stumbling through tutorials, mostly guessing as to what/how things are to be done - and of course the end result is failure.
Guess I just don't know the best way to get a grasp of Flash MX and am ready to give up.

Help On Tutorials Please.
Are there any websites out there that offer more than just text based tutorials? I myself am a visual learner and often need visual aid to help the learning process, but most, if not all the tutorials I see, are all text based and have maybe a single visual element at the end of the tutorial, which doesn't help me other than tell me what it is the tutorial will end up looking like. Any help is much appreciated.

Can someone tell me a good place to find a variety of Flash MX tutorials? I have been working with Flash 5, just downloaded the trial version of MX and can't figure out how to replace a graphic in the sample FLA I'm working on with one of my own. I know it should be simple to do...guess I'm still in Flash 5 mode (looking for the old Bitmap Properties box...LOL). I've read through the PDF files and see everything about working with graphics except this!

I Need Tutorials
I've looked all through here and MANY other tutorial sites. I just want a big archive of IN DEPTH tutorials for Flash MX, (Creating games, animations etc.). I've seen so many tutorials that just throw the code at me and send me on my way. I've been using Flash MX for about half a year now and learned most about from experience. The only problem is that I can't just know actionscript. That's something that needs to be learned. If someone can please help me, I would be most grateful. Thank you for your time and help.

I find the tutorials too complicated or too simple! The puzzle tutorial is too complicated, and it is not teaching me what I want to learn, I am miles away from trying to make games; I would like to make simple cards to start with; I can draw and insert the drawings which I have made in another program; so I just want to do images which get transformed into something else when you click on them; I have problems with the clicking part; in fact I can't do anything with clicks, is there a tutorial that deals with mouse clicks?

I know this is probably not the right area to ask this, but in learning about Flash I've seen a number of video tutorials that are on Quicktime...these have narration and show the lessons in full animation. Ok, I am completely new to all this kind of thing...The best thing Ive made is a button. So perhaps Im being a little ambitious here, but anyhoo...
Ive read most of the "getting started" tutorials here, but they are pretty self-explanatory. But I never really know what to search for (partly because I never really know what I want to do with Flash :P)
What Im attempting to do now, is to have an image of a stone circle (with ten stones), so that when a person clicks on five of the stones in a certain sequence, a window will pop up (and if they are not clicked in that exact sequence, it wont work and they will have to start again).
Anyhoo, my question is, what kind of tutorials should I be looking at to achieve this? I dont even know which section would be useful...
Or would it be too hard for me, and I shouldnt attempt it?
EDIT: Extra question: Is there any way to use midis in flash without converting them?

Looking For Tutorials Please

I was looking for some material on how to get started with flash. So I did some searching and wound up here
I offered my services to help with a website for my cousin's youth soccer club. It was my understanding that it would be a simple redesign. However after our initial meeting, I believe some of the features they want use flash. An example is the news 'ticker' at NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins website. Also desired is a banner at the top of the page that rotates different images in, smoothly.
Am I correct in assuming that these types of functionality use flash? Of course, I come here and see all the different versions (MX, MX2004, Flash8). I don't know the difference between dreamweaver, flash pro, flash basic, etc.
Any input would be appreciated, or any links that you point me to. Thank you for your time.
