Flash :: Macromedia Licence Issue

Licence Question
I have trialed 1.52 and downloaded version 2 which is spectacular. I intend to buy within the next few days.
However, I work at two different offices, my home studio and my office several miles away. I have downloaded v2 at my office and will do the same at home...BUT...will I have to pay for 2 licences because I work in two different places or will I be able to input the downloaded licence number into both of my compters...hope so! Thanks.

Remoting Licence Per CPU...
I have a server and a mirror failover server. In web its always only one, but I have to install Remoting on both. So does it mean that we have to pay for two CPU 2*999?

Won't I be able to install one on both?

Is it all right to make commericial products with flash 9 alpha?

I discovered that for some reason flv playback is better when I compile in flash 9 for a standalone projector.

Hello,

I have a question about the Flash licence for video product manufacturers :
Today a lot of PDA or PMP (Personnal Multimedia Player) companies have web browsers in theirs products. Sometimes the Flash compliancy is a non free option, like for the Archos players for example.
I would like to know how cost the licence and how this licence works : who has to pay this licence ?
Is Mozilla firefox or Microsoft (for Internet Explorer) pay this licence for each user of their browser ?
Is Archos pay this licence for each product client ?

And what is the price ?

I am experiencing a problem with Adobe Flash CS3.It was working great till today.I uninstalled and re-installed Flash Player 9 because I was having some problems.But now,when I am trying to run Flash CS3 the Licence window pops and the buttons doesn't respawn,I can only close it by hitting Alt+F4.Here's a screenshot:

Re-installing the program won't work,because when I try to do so,I get an error(like in all CS3 programs)

Licence Code To Use Swf Movie
Hi, Ive seen at least one movie that required a licence code to be entered into it before it could be used without some additional branding being removed. This was done by entering a code within the FLA but I wanted to find out if there was any known way to licence a piece of work to a specific web URL or have only one licence usage at any one time, or even be able to track where the swf was being used from. I was wondering if a piece of html could be used to pull off an object from my site each time it is used and then I can track which sites are using my swf for example. Has anyone got any ideas about how to achieve this?

This has to be UK law, it has to be simple and apply to games on cdrom and limit liability to the minimum.

Can I Turn A Flash Movie Into An Exe With A Licence Key?
Hi all,

I have a client who wants to turn his flash app into an executable and add a licence key to it. He wants to put it onto a CD and sell it.

I know how to publish the FLA as an EXE... but adding a licence key? I have no idea if there is a way to do this.

License.Limit.Exceeded Error With Unlimited Licence
I am getting Licence.Limit.Exceeded errors when FMS had several hundred connections although I have unlimited connections licence. Because of this error, FMS rejected all further connections.

Here is log:

License.Limit.Exceeded With 4x150 Users Licence And Only 300 Real Users
We have 4x150 users licence, set to unlimited bandwith.

We get these messages in event viewer:
Connection rejected by server. Reason : [ License.Limit.Exceeded ] : (_defaultRoot_, _defaultVHost_) : Max connections allowed exceeds license limit. Rejecting connection to : our_app_name/.

It appends a lot since the last few days, even before last update 2.0.3

At the same time, when we check the administration console, the number in the _defaultVhost is much lowe than 600, the maximum number of user that is allowed.

Licences are all OK in the administration console.

We have to restart the Flash server service to correct the problem.

Please help...

Macromedia Not Doing Anything About This?
does anyone know when the flash player ocx with work with a "post" and not just a "get". im also having problems loading and an xml file from a server with the player. it works fine in the browser, but in the player (ocx) it doesnt.

I'm wondering what should i know to make a menu works like the "short cuts" buttons in the site. When clicked, they open a "scroll field", but the content that was there before doesn't disapear.
To understand what i mean do this: If you click the "products" short cuts and then click the "downloads" short cut, the content of "products" doesn't disapear untill the field with the "download" content scroll over it and shows up...
howcome this is possible? scriptablemasks? actionscripting? I don't know if i made my doubt clear...but i thank any idea replied here.

I'm from Bucharest, Romania and I have one BIG PROBLEM.. As Macromedia is not going to sell it's brand new MX Development Resource Kit in regular stores, just online, and because they don't accept Romanian CCs, I am unable to buy this software !

Macromedia said they will never make this software available in Romania !! :-((

I even tried with a Reiffeisen Bank credit card, online, and they rejected it.

So, please, can anyone be so kind to buy it for me ?

How Does Macromedia Do It?
If you go to macromedia's home page, they have a flash search textbox at the top right. When you click in it, it fades to a different color and if you click outside of it, it fades back to the original color. I tried tabbing and it didn't work, so it's only when you click on it that it works. I've tried to recreate it in a login textbox I have and I just can't get it. Does anyone know how to do that? Thanks.

Any help would be good. All my google searches lead me to Navigation wizards and I want to understand how to assemble the pieces not have something make it for me.

My name is Matt, and i rock in Flash (Yipee). I am interested in Shockwave and 3D content, and would like to utilise it.

Why the hell did they drop the random() and tellTarget functions? i find them very useful.

Time For Macromedia To Get Serious?
I have noticed that ActionScript being slow, but I did a test how far a couple of languages/script can run on a 1Ghz in a second. Used ms-measurement so pretty exactly but I skipped to get into the last zeros.

Java is a compiled language/has int-variable and Perl has some nice model of parsing code to a binary tree before running, but isn't this pretty much waste of CPU using AS?

Hey Macromedia! What does it take for you guys to fix this?

Back in May when you released ver6.xx.29, several developers pointed out that there was still an issue with your standalone player that caused the audio to stutter and eventually lock up when external swf files were used. I know you knew about this because Mike Chambers from MM was one of the people answering questions on the FlashKit board.

So now, after me and several others beating our heads against the wall, you finally admit that a problem does exist with the stand alone player. I describe the problem in infinite detail several times, even send you files to use as a test case to determine and fix the problem. You are able to duplicate the problem and off you go to fix it. Weeks (months?) go by and then there is rejoicing throghout the land that ver6.xx.4 of the standalone player is here and the problem is fixed.....But no. It is not fixed, as we have all found out in the last week or 2.

And you know what is the saddest part of this story? It doesn't even work with the files that I sent you! As engineers and developers, we learn to test and test and then test again. As an engineer, I would be ashamed of myself had I executed this poorly on this issue. I even volunteered to beta test your changes to make sure it really worked! What else do you guys want from us?

Does anyone there have anything to say, or should we all accept the fact that the standalone player is not a viable product and move on? If that is the case then fine, but let us know so we don't spend any more of our time waiting for you to fix it!

Hello all! I am trying to create 2 pop up menus exactly like the ones on the macromedia sites main page. Ya know, the first little one that says short cuts when you mouse over the main product button on the left. On that one, what would the code look like to do that. Also, the little button menu that says learn more. I think that is so cool how that works. Is there an easy way to do this as I have not made one of either one of these types before? What Is Macromedia Thinking...?
I'm just trying to find some logical reason why flash cannot write a simple text file. Or any file for that matter. What could possibly be the reason for not including such a powerful thing. If macromedia truly intends for Flash to be a full fledged application developement program then there's no way they could leave out such and important feature. Even the ability to write only 1 type of file would give flash an exponential growth in power and functionality. Until this ability is given, flash will not be good for anything but making pretty little animations.

Hi,

After a dissappointing session with an Adobe ego maniac I learnt that Adobe will not be porting any of their products to Linux. If he had his way, it sounds as if Adobe would rather partner with Microsoft...

Saddened, I left the meeting with the feeling that surely Macromedia couldn't be so narrow minded...

So, as a result, does anyone know whether or not I can see expect to see Flash or any of Macromedia's excellent products anywhere near a Linux desktop sometime in the future?

It's been discussed before. for a Mac-user like me this sounds terrible... not that .NET is bad or anything (it's damn fine technology from what I've seen), but the future of my favorite system is at stake here. I can see the player being used on all platforms... but the development taking place on Windows alone.

Macromedia Mistake...?
Try this, I want to know if it is only me.

1. Take your text tool and make an input text field on your scene or mc. Inbed only numbers, publish then try to type in the field. Only numbers show right!

2. Make a second input text field and do the same. You can only type number in both.

3. (THE MISTAKE) Make one of the text fields inbeded for all characters while the other is only numbers like before (not changed). Publish again. Notice that both text fields are allowing ALL characters.

Shouldn't each individual text inbeding be independant of other character inbedings??? - I know this was the case in Flash 5.

Reason... I'm making a form and I need a phone number input but it's allowing letters as well... Any ideas???

I've spent alot of time developing an application in flash. I need to now use the colorPicker component, but when I add it, it seems to keep my program from working, it actually breaks the whole thing.

when I import the colorpicker component, it does ask me if I want to replace it in my library, but...

A. I don't have one in there to begin with.
B. if I choose "replace" or "use existing" it still ruins my program?
