Flash :: Making A Magazine

Magazine?
Hi,

Im trying to make an online magazine(ezine?) in flash, somthing like http://stickernation.net/features/featured/mdrl.html or http://www.actionscripts.org/showMovie.php?id=459(i would use that but im using flash 5) where you click on the right or left to explore diferent pages. how could this be done in a simple way?

A Magazine
Im sure there is several threads about this but i cant find any. I am trying to make a 'magazine' in flash. I have seen the page turning ones but i want one where they just click the sides. I would also want a differnt cursor for each side. how is this possible? thanks

I want to know how I'd go about creating a magazine-like flash movie such as seen here:

I am interested as to knowing how I can get an infinite number of pages, without manually adding frames, and most importantly, how they managed to get the page-flip animation and rollover.

What impresses me most about the rollover is how you can see the next page being flipped, and the next-next page under it.

E-Magazine Using Flash
I am looking to put an e-Magazine up on a website. Currently it is in PDF format, but I want to make it look like a real magazine, complete with page turns. Can I accomplish this through the use of Flash, or is Flash not the best way to do this? If it is possible using Flash, can someone please point me in the right direction on how to do this. .Net Magazine Tutorial
Hi all,

Have just been playing around with the .Net magazine tutorial on Studio MX:HTML sites. Now in part 1 of 2 (issue April 2004) it deals with a flash based navigation bar. This bar is dynamic in that the script generates buttons. Those who have seen it will no what I mean, the problem I have is that the buttons only seem to point to one file in the Get URL part of the code, the tutorial doesn't tell you how to develop the links.

I have attached my interpretation of the tutorial, any help would be most appreciated.

Magazine Effect
on the avirex.com web site there is a cool effect. If you click in the middle banner, it will take you to a presentation of a series of pictures organized like the pages of a magazine you can actually turn, using your mause, as they are physical pages.

It is a flash file, but even decompiling it I can't figure it out how it works. In order to chieve that effect is required some other software on top of flash pro 8? Thanks.

Animated Magazine From PDF
I'd like to know to create one of these animated magazines where the pages can be turned with the mouse (links to examples below), but I have little idea of what might be involved. This is a long shot it know but... is there some kind of generator that I can download that converts PDFs into animated magazines.

Just on the off chance. did any one buy a copy of advanced web design?
Been trying to do this cool portfolio database. a php script pulls data from sql in to a flash file. I have done exactly as it says and i have got it to pull text in but for the life of me i caunt get the the images to work. its supposed either put i jpg or swf in to small viewing window that appears.
If u click browse untill you get to aidans test this points to an image in my root and it seem to load but just doesnt display. and ideas?

Help Completeing A Digital Magazine
Hi,

We're in the final stages of putting a reader together for a free digital surfing magazine and we could do with some help with just one more thing.

Now, we have zoom in and zoom out controls at the top, but ideally I would like to be able to click on the page to zoom in, and then pan around and click once to zoom back out.

I dont know anything about actionscript, but if someone could help me out it would be much appreciated. I'll fwd your comments onto the chap that built the reader for me.

Hi, I've tried without a decent resutl to make a magazine page ffect like the one in http:// www.spheremag.com/cover.php.
I supose that animation is made within a movie clip, but I cannot create the same page effect, when I try it looks very bad.

Digital Magazine In Flash
We are a magazine publisher and are looking to offer our associations more options by giving them digital versions of their printed magazines. We like the flipping page style, and would need to convert magazines between 40 and 120 pages into this format. Plus offering more interactive content if possible.

Since everything is time/cost sensitive we need speedy solutions. We found a tool to use but just before purchase we noticed something we question.

Product is from page-flip.com. The FlippingBook Flash Component.
However they have a more expensive product called FlippingBook HTML Edition.

The HTML edition is no where near as advance as the Component, so why is it more expensive?

Why am I asking this here?
Because they have not responded to any email, provide no phone number, and have no refund policy if we buy the wrong version.

Anyone heard of them or used this product?

Any other product that can do this?

I can handle building sites etc in Flash, but taking an 80 page magazine and making it digital flip book style in 2 days or less would be too much without software to automate it. A tool I can implement into my workflow is ideal.

Any suggestions?

There is some cool flash work of a magazine where you can pick up and turn the pages. I've seen this once before and I'm going to try and re-create something like it. Any idea of how the code would work? I'm sure there is the ol' startdrag function in there somewhere and it looks like the pages are behind a mask...

Im just wondering if anybody can send me the code to create a virtual flash magazine as seen on the site below....As in, your able to "virtually" turn the pages with the click 'n' drag of a mouse. The finished product dosen't necessarily have to be as quite as advanced as the example seen on this site, however I wouldn't mind if it was.

Could somebody please send me some code or detailed instructions on how to produce something like this...keep in mind though, my flash scripting skills are only basic to intermediate so please explain yourself as simply as possible so I can understand what your talking about. Either that or paste in some code that I can simply just copy and paste into my project. Any help would be great.

Instructions: Click and drag the animated drawing in the top right hand corner of the interface. Thats the virtual magazine. Keep doing this until pages run out.
