Flash :: Menu Effect - Pls Help Me

Hi all,

I'm a rookie action scripter who needs the help from someone who knows it backwards.

I want to create a thin horizontal menu for a simple site.
I need this bullet shape to follow the mouse movement along the X axis - simple enough.
When you click on one of the menu options the bullet will then smoothly scroll to that option and sit behind it. It must seem to click into a position so it is centre aligned behind the menu option.
As soon as you start moving the mouse again, no movement will happen until you get outside the shape the bullet then it will start following the position of the mouse again...

Do you know of any examples out there that may put me on the right path. Or any quickly lines of script you could pass along.

Hey,
looking at the new macromedia website, and i like what they do with the menu that pops up as you move the mouse near the bottom of the SWF that plays at the top of the screen.

getting the popup to work would be as simple as defining a hit area, i guess, and when the mouse is over the hit area, the menu slides into place... move outside the hit area, the menu drops back down..

on to my question... and this may be kinda silly.. bear with me, i at work and cant try this right now..

i guess what i wanna ask is, how exactly would you make that effect? i'm trying to picture in my head... i guess the menu bar itself would be a movieclip with buton embedded?

just a thought.. any ideas or comments are welcome.

the macosx menubar which appears at the bottom of the screen when the mouse reaches it has an animated effect when rolling on. The specific icon which the mouse rolls over on the manu enlarges.

i have a menu with 5 buttens and it has a little arrow that i want to slide across the _x of the menu. how do i make this????? its in a movieclip. i want it to float over the mouse but restrained to the menu, so that it follows the mouse across the menu and when the mouse moves off the menu i want it to move back to the original location. and i have a custom curser so i would like it if it didnt effect that. with the stopDrag();

Ok, I am a major newbie and I am sure that this is a very basic question, but I would really like some insight. I've seen this effect on many different sites on menus and I would really like to know how to do it or just know what it is called so I can look it up myself. I'm trying to recreate a vertical navigation menu similar to something like this

then click on Brand Identity at the bottom left.

So like the users mouse goes up.. the pics go down and vice versa.

Is there anywhere I can get a tutorial on how to do this? Ive seen one on flash kit that tells me how to make the menu move.. but doesnt show me how to make it clickable.

2advanced Menu Effect. How?
Dear all,

I hope anyone can help me out on this one, your tips may be useful information for other designers who want the following too:

On my main navigation menu, I have 5 buttons. I want after clicking a button, an MC to be playing, for say 2 seconds, as a prelude of another MC that will follow accordingly to which button is clicked on.

So if someone clicks button 1, the "general" MC comes, and that MC tells another MC (with content belonging to button 1) to show up in the place of the general MC. If you click button 2, the general MC comes again, but this time he must call the MC belonging to button 2.

Now I'm not so experienced in actionscript... so I would like to ask you what I can do best.

The way I want this to work, is like I saw on the beautiful http://www.2advanced.com If you click any menu button, I think they let the same MC playing every time first. That MC calls another MC, with the content that belongs to the button previously clicked on.
So have a look there, I think the solution might be easy for any advanced/experts amongst you.

Menu Effect... Is There An EASY Way To Do This?
Here's what I'm working on. Sort of a touch screen type of console. I have a logo in the centre and the "buttons" in a circle around it. When someone makes one of the selections, I want the menu to disappear, clock-wise beginning with the selected button.

Now I know I coule animate it each time, but is there an easier way though scripting or smartclips or anything?

How do I create this effect that might be seen on this site on the upper right corner, where there's 1 line that follows the mouse cursor on the X position when it's pointing to the menu, and returnes to it's original position once the mouse left the menubar area (beneath the second line) and the second line follows a clicked button? how do I do that???

Drop Down Menu Effect
I have created a drop down menu that changes the header image when clicked

What i would like to do is instead of simply switching the image i would like them to mask out and in, the only problem is i cant think of a way to do this so that every image would mask in and out of every image without, i can make it work with one but not all of them, there are 6 images altogher so would i have to create 36 mask to cover every possible combination of mask from and to any image.

When you click an image number it shoots by all the images before it and then stops at the image number you selected.

If you could point me to a tutorial or give me some pointers it would be much appreciated.

i made this menu in flash mx2004, but it still tastes too static,,,at the moment i have poor ideas of what animation i can give to it. the menu will be placed in a "wood wall",the site is for a wood trader.
any change/help/animation is welcome...i would appreciate if someone adds some effect.

What Type Of Menu Effect Is This?
where can i find actionscript code on how to create one of those menus that automatically pan the menu selections/buttons left and right based on what direction you point your mouse? kinda like a navigation menu but when you hover your mouse over the left side, all the images/buttons scroll to the left and vice versa?

[F8]Trying To Replicate Menu Effect...
I have a client who wants me to use a menu effect like the one seen here:
http://www.jrobertscott.com (roll over "showrooms" to see - the sub-links sort of "burst" out of the main link). I thought it would be a piece of cake, but it's not working.

I'm using Flash 8, by the way...

I've created one movie clip with the links expanding (services_menu) and placed it on a second movie clip ("services_over" - four frames, each with a stop, it's on the second frame labeled "go." The fourth frame is labeled "end"). "services_over" is placed on the timeline - instance is named "service_menu"

I created another movie clip the links returning to center (services_menu2) and followed the same procedure as above - the instance is named "service_out"

Then, on the button that is supposed to activate all this, I placed the following actionscript:

on (rollOver) {
service_menu.gotoAndPlay("go");
service_out.gotoAndPlay("end");
}
on (rollOut) {
service_out.gotoAndPlay("go");
service_menu.gotoAndPlay("end");
}

But now everything just goes haywire, as you can see here:

First of all, whats up everyone. I haven't been around for awhile, so just wanted to say hello. Trying to get back into flash is harder than I thought it would be. I saw a neat effect for a menu, you can view it at

Drop-menu Effect
If any one has a chance to check out this site.
Upon entering the site there is a menu to the left with drop menus on the "about" and "portfolio" buttons. When clicked, the drop menus push the other buttons out of the way respectively with smooth movement. If anyone can help point me in the right direction as to how to acheive an effect such as this? I checked the tutorial on this site about drop menus. Would there be parts of that tut I can use for that effect? Im guessing there would be some "if" AS to be used. Im still polishing my AS skills. Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

Special Effect On Menu
I've got a taugh-to-explain doubt. I want to make a menu which items are, let's say 1, 2 and 3. Ok, this is easy. The thing is that I want a mouse over effect, with which when I mouse over one of the items, it is highlighted with a coloured square. Til here, i managed to do it. Now is when it comes the difficult thing. I want the square to move from on number to the other when I mouse over. That's it: when I am on number 2, if the coloured square is on number 1, I want it to move with a motion tween from 1 to 2. I first thought of doing so with a GoTo action, and puting the movement into the Timeline with a Motion Tween. But I realised that doing so, the only possible movements would be from 1 to 2, from 2 to 3 and from this back to one. And I want the square to go to the rolled over number from whatever number the square is. How can I do it?I am not sure I made myself understood. The thing is I don't even know if it is possible to do. Can someone help me, please? Tks!

I've been trying to find this but don't seem to be able to get them..... even if it is, it is not like what i want..... sorry, me not good in actionscript, still in learning process.

Basically this is what I want to do.......

I have Menu A Menu B and Menu C arrange this way:-

What I want to do is this........ when I go to Menu A a straight bar will slide under Menu A and when my mouse move to menu B, the bar will slide from Menu A to Menu B. i want to have some effects basically, the mouse will move first to Menu B then only the bar below Menu A will slide to Menu B.... starting slowly and increase in speed.......
