Mounting A Flash Movie Into A Website And Preloaders.
The topic pretty much says it all.
I'd like to know how one takes a .swf flash movie and shows it on a webpage properly. For instance, I want the movie to be the exact size that it is in the program (550 x 400), not to take up the whole screen like it would if you looked at the .swf directly. Also, it'd be nice if I could have it open in its own window of the same size as the movie such that there's no other web material to interfere with it (like Newgrounds does).
Another thing I'd like to learn to do is create a preloader. Now, I'm relatively new to Flash, but I know to get around the MX interface and where stuff is, etc. About the only thing I really know nothing about is Actionscript, except for adding some actions and commands to frames and buttons. So, if someone could teach me or show me a tutorial on how to make a preloader with as little code as possible, that would be just awesome.
Oh and I'm no stranger to HTML and PHP, though I'm rusty on Javascript, but I understand web programming fairly easily.

Hi y'all.
Im relatively new to Flash MX. I've mastered the basics, and im now stumbling in Actionscript and how to distribute libraries and parts correctly.
I've read all about the preloaders in www.flashkit.com, but still, i dont understand how this works..
1 - Should i make a preloader inside the main animation, or should i make a separate file, that links to my main animation? This is boggling me.. How should i do this?
2 - My goal is to create an image showing page, with some animations in the page body (made in Flash), but i feel like if i include all the images in the main .swf it will become huge... what is the answer here? should i make a library file with just the images, and then link to them from my main animation? or should i dump them all as simple .jpg files in a folder under my site and link them so they open in my flash animation?

Suggestions For Mounting Content.
Hey everyone, I was just working on a website for my residence on campus, and I was wondering what the best way to put the content would be.
I'm thinking possibly loading an outside .swf into a container (container is the red box, also where content will appear). Otherwise maybe if you can load a contrained .htm into that box or something, but I'm not sure.
Any suggestions please let me know.

Preloaders And Website Structures
Hi peoples,
I'm trying to develop a preloader system that loads only the first section of my flash animation and then let's you in the web site while loading
the rest of the frames in the backgorund.
Or do a structure in which the web site loads by sections.
What do you recommend? How can I make this happen? Is there a place where I can find answers to this?

Preloaders And Sounds For My Website
Currently I'm working on my personal website (diekstra.tk ).
I use a preloader for my site. In the site I use ActionScript to play sounds from the library (e.g. intro.attachSound("intro.wav"); intro.onsoundComplete, etc.)
At this moment, the sounds in the library are linked: exported for actionscript, export in first frame.
My problem is the following:
With the linkages set as "export in first frame", the sounds (which account for about 200kb) are being loaded before my preloader begins. This takes a lot of time with just a blank screen during preload.
I want to put the sounds in an external .swf movie and preload them in the main movie, and control them from the main movie (also with the onSoundComplete function). And more, the external sounds should be preloaded independently of the main movie's preloader, so that when a visitor with slow connection that first visits the website, only after a while will hear the sounds (because the external .swf sounds are loaded then).
Is there anybody that can help me?

ive recently made a site and run into a small issue. When i place a preloader on the movie i noticed that my movie does not play out the imbedded movie clips within other frames. The preloader works fine... but the imbedded clips dont play... unless you manually tell the movie to play... is there a fix to this... same thing happens if i insert blank key frames infront of the frames with imbedded movie clips. Really frustrating. Please help.

Flash MX (not 2004), Preloaders And Imbedded Movie Clips
Ok so here is the deal. Ive put together a pretty nice flash composition and its looking pretty sweet... but the size is starting to get large so i thought id stick a preloader on there for those less fortunate people. Here is my problem. When i put a preloader in the preloader seems to work fine. My problem is that my imbedded movie clips dont play anymore... they just freeze on frame one and dont do anything. Anybody know how to fix this or could talk me through it. Thanks.

[CS3] Flash Movie Doesn't Get Refreshed On My Website - It Keeps The Old Movie
Hello
I need help - I have publish my flash movie on my index page. I made some changes (text, colors, movie clip) - when i upload the new version and refresh my website, it doesn't get refreshed. even if i change my settings in IE to automatically check new version of pages, or check on new IE restart, or whatever it keeps the old flash movie. I tried deleting my cookies, temporary files also. no change
It does my head in ..
anyone know what is causing this ? i'm using Flash CS3 and IE 6

The reason they are on different servers is to save bantwith.

Hey all,
New to the site and was looking for a bit of help.
Ive only recently started using flash and i was looking for some help with a few ideas. I am looking to make a website using flash and i wanted to have a "door" close and re-open when you clicked on different content. So your on the homepage, with the homepage content, then you click on say Videos page, and then doors close on the homepage content, and then re-open to show the Videos page content. Any ideas on how this would be done would be great :P
Another thing is what is the Actionscript that i could put at the end of one movieclip, to start another when it has finished.

Put Movie On Flash Website?
Hi,
At the company where I work we have a website that consist of only flash.
Now they would like to put a movie on it and I see a lot of problems coming up.
I should say that personally I've never worked with flash.
However.
If we would put the movie into the source and compile it there would be a problem next week or month when we want to change the movie, we have to go back and change the source and re-compile ?
Not good for us.
Is there a way to use an external .swf and link it into the website's .swf?
So when we do want to change it all we have to do is replace the .swf.
I'm very thankful for any help I can get.

From Flash Movie To Website
Hi ,
I am building a website here, with a flash movie automatically plays on the index page, with a link "click here to ENTER THE SITE" below. When the movie finishes, viewers must click on the link to see the contents.
What I am trying to figure out is, how can I take my viewers to the contents page automatically when the movie reaches the end???? Is this possible at all?

Opening A Div Tag On A Website With A Flash Movie
hey everyone,
I am making a kids desk in flash that will hold the students ipod, binders, and folders. When a student clicks one of those items in my flash movie it will pop open a div tag that I create in dreamweaver. Does anyone know how to do this? I am doing it for a small project for middle school kids. I am not doing this project for money, but they are really depending on me to do this for them. I am not sure how to do it if it is possible at all. Does anyone have an example of this or somewhere I can find the coding to do this?
I am currently using flash 8. I know the kids will thank any of you that assist me in figuring this out for them! thanks!
Flash Movie Will Not Play On Website
Hello,
I am having a huge problem getting a flash video to play on a site that I am designing. I have uploaded it to the server with the .flv file linked to the .swf file in the component inspector. I have followed the directions to a T. When you pull up the site you can not see the video at all. Like I didn’t even upload it. I called the hosting company and they indicated that this particular server was old and that they needed to upgrade it to support flash... They did and it still does not work.
I am trying to trouble shoot this to figure out what is going on. Could it be the server? I have it on UNIX hosting; does it need to be linex? This is the first time I have run into this issue and I am really stumped. If anyone could give me advice I would be much appreciative.

Troubles Using A Flash Movie On A Website
Ok, I'm one of the newbies
This guy bought a template and asked me to use it for his website. My problem is that I changed the structure of the website (used to have iframes) and now the flash movie, which is used for the menu and header, is acting differently. If you check the website out providerci.com and click any link, you will see the flash movie reloads. Trouble is the movie reloads EVERY time a link is clicked. What I want the movie to do is load when the person enters the site and then not reload again. I'm very ignorant of flash but I suspect I need to change some scripting. I'm having a hard time finding the right frame with the scripting that needs changing. Does anyone have any suggestions? This is kind of a shot in the dark but I'll try to provide need info

AS 2 Flash Movie As Website Background
I am relatively inexperienced with Flash. I know just enough to get myself into trouble as you will see here...
I am creating a website with the bulk of the material in flash. All was going well until the client asked for a twinkling effect on the static textured background (created in PS). I was able to find a file on the web and apply that code to a flash file to create this effect. I layered this in Dreamweaver in div layer 1, the main web content (combo of html & flash) on div layer 2.
The problem is that it slows down all my animation in the main content. Plus I previewed it on a MAC and the quick flash intro I created crawls at agonizingly slow speed!!!
Does anyone know a better, "lighter" way to do what I need to do? here is the link to my site , in progress...

No Sound When Playing Flash Movie From Website

I know the sound files are in the right place because I can play the movie using the flash player from the directory where the webpage resides. I am calling the flash movie with this:

Flash Movie Works On Computer Not On My Website
i have a flash music player that loads songs i converted from mp3 files to swf movies and allows the user to switch back and forth among songs. It reads the number of songs and the titles from text files. The player works as i want it to on my computer but when i load it onto my website along with the swf music files and the text files it will only play the first song and does not display the song title from the text file. Is there anything special i need to do so that the flash movie will work online.

How To Get Startup Flash Movie To Play Before Loading Website?
I have a simple movie that i would like to play for an opening screen. After the movie gets done i would like the regular html website to load. I'm new to all of this and i can't figure it out to save my life. The home page is index.htm. I used Flash Mx to make the movie. What would i have to do in order for that to happen?
Another thing...I don't know too much about html, but i have a flash movie on the html website. I did that by just pasting the movie's html code into the main html code of that web page. Is that the right way to do it or should it be done otherwise if you just want to have a flash movie playing in a page?

Qustion Embed Flv Movie In Flash Website. HELPPlease
I made a flash site which embed a skinless flv video
(file name play.flv) in FLASH CS3. BTW, i do this coz
Flash can give a skinless flv movie but dreamweaver can not.
After publish, CS3 grenarate 3 files,
A swf file : Play.swf (same name as my flv file) ,
A html file : index.html
A Javascript file: AC_RunActiveContent.js
have no prolem when i preview on my computer
BUT After i upload these 3 files and my original flv file to server, i cant not see my flv movie playing at all. Also not work when i try this in Dreamweaver.
anyone can give me a idea what can i do?

Flash Movie Skins On Content Management Website

Im developing flash based film for a client using a content Management web development system
The flash movie works fine on upload but they content management system they use is having problems accessing the movie skin. I have tried adding the movie skin (controls) via dreamweaver but still having the same problem. Any ideas on how to give the movie skins an absolute reference / link? I think this is the problem.

Play Continuous FLASH Movie In HTML Website
Currently, I have an HTML wesbite with a FLASH movie at the top of every page. The movie is just a slow, simple animation that fades images and type in and out, no action script. What I am looking for is a way to have the Flash movie, play continuously throughout the site; no matter where the user clicks, the movie should continue animating in the same place it left off. Currently, it reloads/starts from the beginning every time I navigate to another page.

I have a flash file that contains a home page and 8 sections. Each section has 2 or 3 MC's in them. What I need to do is, upon entering frame 1, load an number of smaller MC's in each section to get some animation up and running as soon as you enter each section, and then when the user enters a section I can then load the larger MC's. Its a guess that ill have to use a preloader script that relates to the movie clip targets. Does any one know of the script or a way around this problem?????

Preloaders Within A Movie

I just can't work it out. I am trying to open a movie within another movie, but can't seem to get the preloader in the second movie working.

Preloaders And Movie Clips
Greetings everyone!
I have a couple questions about preloaders and movie clips.
My .swf consists of 2 scenes. The first scene is a preloader which contains a lot of 'If frame loaded' actions that point to scene 2. In scene 2 I have a 310 frame animation. In frame 170 of scene 2 I have about 4 layers that each contain a movie clip. The movie clips don't start (they each begin with a stop action) until called for by button elements in scene 2. My first question is this:
When frame 170 is loaded are all of the frames in the movie clips loaded as well? Some of the clips have 50-75 frames of animation in them. My other question is can I set up an individual preloader for each movie clip? Appreciate any advice or help on this matter...

Ok Im fairly new to flash and Im sure this has been ask a million times, I searched but couldn't find anything.
How do I preload something inside of my main movie, I have a site with a large picture gallery and I want to load them seperatly so the main movie isnt so big. I also want preloader bars when the pictures load.
are there any tutorials on this?

I am using the Load Movie function and it always works fine, unless I am also using a preloader also. It just says "This movie uses features that are not supported in Flash Player version 4" It also says to "set variable action". The preloader works by itself, the "load movie" thing works by itself, but together I get that message. So I'm confused. Any help would be great.
Preloaders - Do You Preload The Whole Movie?
When i didn't have a preloader, my flash site was really slow for dial ups...
but now i find that loading can take up to a minute if i preload the whole intro or each link...
is it better to only load 3 quarters or something and then let it start playing?
or is there now way around this for dial ups?
