Flash :: Moving Site To New Location But Always Looks At Old Links

Moving A MC To A Random Location
two questions actually....

1st...On a mouse over...I want a movie clip to move to a random location on the stage.

2nd...somewhat related...I want to be able to click...anywhere on the stage...and the movie clip goes there.
I know how to do this with "easing"....but I want the movie clip to follow a path...not a straight line.

In other words...if I had a maze....and I clicked somewhere in the maze....the movie clip would follow the maze to the location.

Too much to ask?

Any help would be appreaciated!

Moving A MC To A Random Location
I want to move a Movie clip....to a random location on the stage...based on when a user does a mouse over on the Movie clip.

In other words.....if I had a little box...in a movie clip...sitting on the main stage...and you mouse over it...I want it to "slide" to another location...but I want it to be totally random...

What type of code do I use?

Any suggestions would be appreaciated.

Moving Flash From One Location To Another
A customer of ours has asked us to copy their existing site as they are unable to get hold of the developer who originally built it and they need to update the site.

We used Httrack and this has copied everything exactly and when I run the site on my machine it runs fine, however when I put the site on our server on a sub domain it doesn't load the flash movie even though it is pointing to the right place

Moving (teleporting) A Movieclip To A New Location.
Hmmm, it is late and I am pretty tired out right now. Do you guys know of a way to make it so when a movieclip (The moveable "character" in my side scroller) hittests another movieclip the character is moved (teleported) to a new location? Thanks guys, I really appreciate it.

Moving An Object To Another Objects Location
hi, i am creating a vertical shooter adaptation.

i am trying to create the enemy units to fire in a direction at the main unit.

The problem is that the bullet follows the main unit instead of moving in a straight direction where the unit used to stand.

I am using timers for creating the animation and i have tried changing the rotation of the bullets. I have got it to rotate in the direction i want it to but it doesnt move there.

i am also trying out this temp object thing where an object is left at the main units last location and the bullet travels to that location. its not working yet but i am going to give it another try.

Okay Flash Gods... I have a clip that is floating about the stage... now when I release a button I want the clip to travel to a specific point on the stage... by travel I mean I want to see the clip move to the point.. not immediately appear to it.

I was going through this tutorial here on my own and I came across a bit of a problem. My site is sized differently than the one used here, so I think that's part of the problem.

The basic idea of that tutorial is that you have a base page, and the LoadMovie thing brings in the others. Well, mine is working, but the .swf that gets loaded is off center. It's hanging off my page!

How do I get it to load where I want it to load?

Any ideas?

I'm new at this. Please take a look at the link and see if you can explain to me what I'm doing wrong. I have action script at the end of each motion layer, but as soon as the motion stops the only link that works is the last button to load.

Moving Menu With Rollovers And Links
Okay,
I've tried searching to see if I could find the thread of the guy who had this same issue, and I can't find it. I want a menu that slowly moves up or down when mouse is at the top or bottom. When you rollover one of the menu items, an image pops up on the left. You can also click on the menu item and a pdf will open in a new window. I desperately need help! I have no clue how to do this! New to actionscript.

I finally figured out how to get my rollover links to work, but now I need to figure out how to make the bottom links move. For example, when we rollover the Arizona Link, we want the California and Contact Us links to move BELOW the Arizona rollovers. And same thing for when the California link is rolled over, we want the Contact Us link to move BELOW the California roll overs.

I feel like it's just a matter of simple code manipulation where I have the rollover code for the individual links, the code I have is below:

Moving From One Html/swf To An Exact Location In Another Html/swf

I'd like to move from one URL that contains a Flash movie to an exact location of another URL's Flash movie. Moving from URL to URL is easy to do, but I'd like to go to a specific location in the new URL. Something like ... from: test.html (which has flash movie) to: whoopdiedoo.html (which has flash movie) and I'd like to immediately go to "frame 20" or to a label called "stuff" or to "Scene 3", "frame 6", within the whoopdiedoo.html Flash movie. Is this possible to get a very specific location in a getURL command? To Help out how about this is used as the example.

Assume I'm presently on ... test.html (test.swf ... and I've released the button in test.swf that will direct me to the exact location of another .swf in a different .html.)

What will the code be to have the On Release of the button direct me to ...

#1) different.html (containing diff.swf and frame 70) or
#2) dfifferent.html (containing diff.swf and Scene 2, frame 70) or
#3) different.html (containing diff.swf and Scene 3, Label of "dog")

Assuming all pages are in the same folder.

Links On Php Site
I am loading links from an xml file into a text field. These links work on an aspx page, but not a php wordpress page. On the php page, the cursor changes to a hand, and you can right-click to load the links, but they will not load by clicking on them. Any help is appreciated...thanks.

Yet another question....

From a flash movie that is in a pop up window, there is button on the last frame which when clicked needs to get back to a specific location on the original web site it came from and close itself down, I tried to use a _parent on the GetURL command but it didn't seem to work.

Any suggestions?

I have a .swf embedded in an HTML file that resides here, siteroot/flashindex.htm..the .swf is here, siteroot/swf.swf and in it there is text that links to here, News/FlashNewsIndex.htm and here, flashindex.htm and the links work fine. The .swf embedded in the latter HTML file residing here, siteroot/swf1.swf also has text links that point to here, News/FlashNewsIndex.htm and flashindex.htm but when clicking either, it doesn't find the file it points to. Is this a site relative thing..? Appreciate any thoughts on this. cheers.

I want one animation of a content area but i want the menu to run the animation and put in a certain .swf so i can have something like:
when u click a button that is suposed to goto Home then it plays a MC that has Home as an external .swf loaded into it and when i click another link like Portfolio it starts that MC over but with Portfolio as an external .swf in it

I need to know how to make a flash movie move across the site but not inside a popup window. I have seen it done before.

Moving Flash Site With Nav
i'm making a site in flash and i was wondering how to do the nav side of it. i can use the buttons to jump to a certain location in a movieclip to display the content-screens, but i would really like the content to slide in and out of the site instead of just jumping on screen.

I already made a movieclip for every content screen where you see everything come into place and then fade away. But it doesn't seem so simple to control the movieclips as they should stop half way until a different button is pressed, and THEN the movie has to go on (fade out) while the new content screen slides in.

I tried to crack it, with my humble actionscript skills, using variables and the works, but i can't seem to crack this problem.

How do other sites do this? any suggestions would be welcome...

hello, I am in the flash about 6 monthes, and I still don't understand something. I see many sites with millions of motions and effects and the site works really fast and smoothly, but, when I make effect and motion in my flash works, it's always works with stucks, and if I get bigger the FPS it works more fast but still works with stucks.....

How To Move An Object Slowly And Smoothly From Location 1 To Location 2?
Hi,

I am new to ActionScript. I wish to use ActionScript to move an object slowly and smoothly from location 1 to location 2.

I learned that I can use the following to move an object to location 2 (x2, y2):

mThisObject.x = x2;
mThisObject.y = y2;

However the object just "swift" from location 1 to location 2, not moving slowly and smoothly from location 1 to location 2.

Could some experts here provide a guideline for me?

Help Changing Flash Links In Server Site
Hi, I'm new here and trust you'll help.

Here's a problem that many of you might now how to go about and solve.
I created a swf movie (4 actually) with buttons that when pressed bring different static images. That works alright local and in the server. The images in this menu are linked to another swf file. These are little animations that come up in a parent window, some are QT movies. These also work fine in local, but not on the server site, message is NOT FOUND or ERROR 404.
Someone suggested to change the links in the server site to absolute. I have 24 images with links! and this means opening the first movie, and changing the get URL in everyone of them.
My assupmtion is this: If I go and change the links to absolute, say http://www.server.com/folder/name.swf instead of /name.swf as it is, the copy in my hardrive won't work. Is this correct? How can I have 2 copies, one for me, one for the server? This is unsound to me. Therefore, there must be another way to do it and I'm sure you have heard or gone through the same before, and can help me. Help me if you please, He-e-e-e-lp me, Heeeeelp.... meeeeeee.!!!(sound)

im designing a webpage with dreamweaver 4.0 where im using site-relative links in flash buttons but the links dont work although i have the .swf and .html files in the same folder.

[F8] Flash Floating On Top Of Site Hides Links Below
Using Flash 8 ...

In a website where I've created a 30 second Flash .swf that floats above the site using

div align="center" style="position: absolute; top: 0px; width: 100%; margin: 0px auto;"

I've found that even after the video is done playing and the .swf is nothing but a blank, transparent file, it still prevents the viewer from clicking on anything that's a link beneath it, as if it's a clear piece of glass blocking access.

The flash file itself is quite simple, a single frame that calls in an external .flv

Is there ActionScript that can clear the movie away so that the links beneath are accessible once the movie is done? I believe there might be a JavaScript solution to this, but (without getting into the entire nature of the project here) adding a lot of JavaScript to the client's page isn't an ideal solution.

I'm not terribly familiar with how event listeners work, but am hoping there's some way there can be a listener that checks when the movie is done and then clears things away so that the links below are clickable.

Absolute Links To Parts Of Flash Site
This is basically similar to a "back" button functionality in a flash site. But what we really want our site to do, is to be able to assign webaddresses to parts of our flash site. That way, Flash can read in the variables and then tell the flash program to animate to that portion of the site.

Right now our site is:

We would like to be able to say:
www.haleypro.com/?page=studiotour
Then, if someone goes to that link, the flash site will load, with the variable set, and the animation will immediately trigger to the studio tour part of our site.

Now, we already have a system that allows us to pick pages out of our site. I was just not really sure how we should setup the variable read ins. Should it be a function that checks for the variable's value, if not equal to undefined then tell it to animate? We are using ASP for our database structure of our site. Thanks in advance for any answers given.

Adding Moving Text To Site
Can someone help me with putting some text onto my site. I have a few lines of text (Arial, large size) which I want to appear as though it is being typed onto the page as the user views it. This only needs to happen once so I don't need to worry about looping it, although am thinking of looping it once every 10 seconds.

Does the above make sense? can someone tell me if it can be done and give me some ideas on where to start?

Flash Site News Slide Show With Links
Hello,

I am developing a site news slide show. Each slide is a movie clip with links within it. The slide show should loop automatically and each movie clip will come up on the screen waits for 10 seconds and loops again. In addition my movie clip has bulletted links at the bottom to other movie clips, so if user wants to go to particular mc then they will click on list and movie clip should slide to clicked one and wait for 10 seconds and loop again.

I am using the tranistion effect by downloading the Mctween plugin from following website:

Links In Scrolling Text - Reference Other Elements Of Site
I have a scrolling text area... within this are there are a few words that need to link to the movie itself.

I have managed to create the invisible buttons that have the correct area to link to. but...

I have tried making a layer in the scrolling text layer - the button shows that its active but noithing happens when released..

I have also tried inserting the links under the masked area and above the text - this works - but the link areas do not move with the text as it scrolls.

I just need the link area to move with the text and I am set

Does anyone have a solution to this?

Heed Help With Moving Menu Character For Site
I have a plan for the menu of the website I am going to be working on, but I need to know what kind of actionscript is needed to perform what i need.
Basically, i will have a robot, and a bunch of menu selections. I would like to have the robots arm move to point towards the selection the viewer's mouse rolls over. I want it to be smooth, so that when the viewer rolls over a selection at the top, then, say, one near the bottom, the arm will make a full movement from the first selection to the next. Also, I would like the robot's whole arm to make the movement (upper arm and forearm).
Lastly, the robot's "pieces" (different parts, moving and not) are going to be seperate images that I am going to paint myself, scan, manipulate, crop, and import into flash, to put together, creating the robot.

If anyone can help, I'd greatly appreciate it...
However, if this sounds damn near impossible, feel free to let me know now, so i can stop wasting my time and come up with a new menu idea.

Links Back To Our Site Don't Work When Player Is Embedded On Other Sites

My site is www.comicwonder.com. It's a pretty fun site. Anyways, people can embed our player like YouTube etc. For some reason, though, any links back to our site (like the logo, the joke name, etc.) don't work. The do work within ours?

Any ideas on what would be the problem?

On my site I have 5 buttons for navagation along the top, when you go to the Photos section there is a button that appears on stage and, when clicked, loads an external swf onto the stage, no problems so far.

If I or the user clicks this button to load this external swf onto the stage and then clicks one of the other navagation buttons to go to a different section of the site, that external swf doesn't disappear.

Is there a simple AS solution, or do I need to put an unloadMovie line on each of my navagation buttons?

Links That Do Not Work, Size Of The Site In The Browser Window And Scrolling Text
Hi,
I am a newbie and really need help! I have posted a site all in flash and have some serious issues with it!

1. my links on the last scene do not work and I have followed the book precisely.They go to newspapers.

2. the contact button on the nav bar on all the scenes (email link) does not work properly: it opens up to a cannot display page and then the microsoft outlookout window opens up with the email address.

3. The site opens up to be very small and not the size I intended.

4. I have 2 scrolling text boxes on 2 diff scenes. one is fine but the other opens up with a level thing (_.10level)and then the text I want loads in, how can I fix that?
