Multiple Flvs' From A Single Swf?
I have many hundreds of flv files in my video clips library. So far, I've been creating a separate swf for each flv. Is there a way to create just one swf which can be instructed to play any flv file?

Choosing Multiple FLVs From A Single SWF File
Hello,
I'm an actionscript newbie and have a question concerning selecting on-demand FLVs from a single SWF file.
Basically we have a large amount of FLV files on our flash media server and would like to access them through one SWF file (the user would enter their last name through a text field to play the related FLV):
- My current SWF file is currently playing a single FLV through the stock video component (actionscript 2), and the component's contentPath is fixed to a static RTMP address.
- Could anyone recommend the simplest way to inject a user's response/variable (from a text-field) into the 'contentPath' parameter?
Thanks!

? Play Multiple .flvs Simultanous With Single Control Bar ?
This is bugging the heck out of me.
What I am trying to accomplish:
- load two external .flv files
- both files begin playing simultaniously
- one play control bar controls both videos
Why I need to do this:
I have an environment in Flash. Each character in the environment is a .flv file. The characters interact with one another. The way I see it, this can be accomplished one of two ways:
- two (for two characters) flv files that run for the same exact lengh
- several flv files for each character for ever interaction (I'm kind of against this, because I would like for the videos to completely load up before starting)
What I've tried:
- The FLV PlayBack component: This doesn't really work, since the Playback skin is visually connected to only one video. Also, it only controls a single video.
- The FLV PlayBack Custom AI: I have yet to get this to work even with a single video. I'm still wondering, though, if it's perhaps the best solution, since I can place the playbar anywhere on screen and should be able to script the play controls for both videos. Like I said, though, I've not been able to get it to work at all.
- I built an original prototype of this in Captivate. Playing multiple vidoes (simultanious or otherwise) with a single playbar skin for the entire project was easy. The problem I ran into was the test question components in Captivate didn't do what I needed (greying out and becoming inactive once chosen, able to try again)
Can you help?
Thoughts? Suggestions? Anything is appreciated.

How Do I Combine Two FLVs Into A Split Frame Single Player?
Hello. I want to know how to duplicate the functionality on http://www.vcasmo.com
There is what appears to be a single flash player, but two separate FLVs (one video, and one PPT). The PPT is synced to the video based on timing settings created when you upload and mash the assets.
I know how to convert PPT to Flash, easy. But I don't know how to put both FLVs together into one. Secondary, is how do I sync the timing?
Thanks!

Single Button, Multiple Action/Multiple Targets
I originally posted this on the MX board but I think it should be here. It's a difficult one to describe.
I want to assign two separate events to a single action, but I want one event to follow the other. Both targets are MovieClips nested within the same external swf, which has been imported into the main timeline. Follow me?
on (release) {
_root.loadMovieMC.FallMan.gotoAndPlay("end");
}
on (release) {
_root.loadMovieMC.gotoAndPlay("FishGirl");
}
Problem is that once the button is clicked it runs straight to "FishGirl" without playing FallMan("end"). If I take out the second expression, it will play FallMan okay, but not the two together.
I'm in over my head here, Can anyone please help?
Multiple Flvs
Hi,
I am trying to load multiple flv's ifrom one swf. I found this in a previous thread, but it doesn't seem to work. Any ideas?
// Create a NetConnection object:
myNC = new NetConnection();
// Create a local streaming connection:
myNC.connect(null);
// Create a NetStream object
myStream = new NetStream(myNC);
//define an onStatus() function:
myStream.onStatus = function(infoObject) {
//if the current video has finished
if (infoObject.code == "NetStream.Play.Stop") {
//check to see if its the last file
if (current == 8) {
//this would load the next movie as specified in the linked post
_level0.loadNew ();
} else {
//if its not the last video
//increment current
current++;
//play the new file
netStream.play(current+".flv");
}
}
};
// Attach the NetStream video feed to the Video object:
my_video.attachVideo(netStream);
// Set the buffer time:
//This method takes a single parameter that indicates the number of seconds of the FLV stream to download before playback begins.
netStream.setBufferTime(2);
//create a variable which will reference the current video
current=1;
//start playing the first flv
netStream.play(current+".flv");

Hi
Is there a better way to manipulate multiple FLVs on stage, then netstreaming each to separate SWF and then upload the SWFs?

Can You Use Multiple FLVs?
Hi,
I want to use multiple FLVs using Flash 8. The problem I've seen is when I import a 2nd FLV the attributes of the first FLV I imported change. For example, I have a skin on the first one but not the 2nd one. When I import the 2nd one the first FLV disappears. I tried importing it again, first renaming FLVPlayback to FLVPlayback2. The skin is now gone and I get the following error message when I test the movie:
**Warning** The linkage identifier 'FLVPlayback' was already assigned to the symbol 'FLVPlayback', and cannot be assigned to the symbol 'FLVPlayback2', since linkage identifiers must be unique.
I am progressively downloading the FLVs from my web server.
Thanks for any help,
Scott

[F8] Play Multiple FLVs
Hello
I hope someone can help me. I'm stuck...
I want 3 flv:s to be played after eachother. In the Flash Help-file I found how to play two after each other. But I cannot figure out how the code should be for 3 FLVs.
This is the code for playing 2 FLVs, directly copied from the Help-file:
import mx.video.*;
my_FLVPlybk.contentPath = "http://www.helpexamples.com/flash/video/clouds.flv";
var listenerObject:Object = new Object();
// listen for complete event; play new FLV
listenerObject.complete = function(eventObject:Object):Void {
if (my_FLVPlybk.contentPath == "http://www.helpexamples.com/flash/video/clouds.flv") {
my_FLVPlybk.play("http://www.helpexamples.com/flash/video/water.flv");
}
};
my_FLVPlybk.addEventListener("complete", listenerObject);
If you know a better way than this, please let me know. I have used NetStream in another project and if it is possible to play 3 FLVs after eachother using that instead I would also be happy. I guess one could make the loop thing into play another flv, instead of starting the first one over again. Or? (how?)
This is the code I used for the other project.
stop();
var tokyoConn_nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection ();
tokyoConn_nc.connect(null);
var tokyoStream_ns:NetStream = new NetStream(tokyoConn_nc);
tokyoStream_ns.setBufferTime(12);
//loop
tokyoStream_ns.onStatus = function(info) {
if (info.code == "NetStream.Play.Stop") {
tokyoStream_ns.seek(0);
}
};
target_video.attachVideo(tokyoStream_ns);
tokyoStream_ns.play("star.flv");
Thanks a lot for reading this post - I wish you a happy new year.

[CS3] Multiple (same) Simultenous Flvs
I have a presentation going on the web that requires the display of 5+ videos that play at the exact same time. They are all the exact same FLV, and the FLV is reasonably small (dimensions/filesize).
However, even if I preload the FLV, it only initially plays in one of the FLVcomponent boxes. Then, the other boxes play in unison shortly thereafter.
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to fix this and/or know what is going on there?
Thanks.
Resize Multiple FLVs
I have an FLV Playback component placed on the stage, with actionscript loading a list of movies to play one after the other. There are 6 widescreen clips which all load one after the other.
Problem is the sizes are different and I want the FLVs to match the dimensions of the FLV Playback Component, even if it means stretching the aspect ratio a bit.
Is there a way to ensure the FLVs fill the playback component? Or barring that, is there a way to get the FLVs to use the center as a registration point, as opposed to the upper left corner? Trying to avoid designing custom skins to accomodate slight variations in FLV frame size from clip to clip.

Downloading Multiple FLVs
Hi,
I need to progressivly stream two FLVs on a single page. I've built a
little player with the FLVPlayback component that I can hit via javascript
to get it to start loading a file (the FLVs are big). Problem is, in
firefox, that only the first FLV begins to download, there is a huge wait
before the second one begins to download. This doesn't happen in IE.
Suggestions as to what is happening? I thought maybe the download of the
first was throttling the download of the second, but it appeared not to be
(I put a little rate limiting on the server). Am I going to have to jump
back and forth between the two components pausing them so the other can gasp
for bandwidth? And, if so, suggestions on what I can do to tell the
FLVPlayback component to stop downloading for a bit?
Only needs to work in flash 8!
Thanks for points,

Multiple Consecutive FLVs
I have been asked to look in to a video based flash interface. The basic idea is that four figures walk on to the stage and then settle in to loops until the user clicks one. The selected figure then steps forward and delivers a short speech to camera while the other figures step back out of the frame.
The figures will all be against a plane white background and has been suggested that we could shoot this as four separate clips to make the looping part easier (we will have fairly limited time with each subject and they will not be actors).
My question is this:
Is it possible to load four individual FLVs, make them start playing at the same time and then play through together?
My gut feeling is that there are gonna be syncing issues due to variable download speeds and bandwidths and other unknowns but I have little experience of using video this way and would appreciate any comments or advice on the subject.
Cheers everyone
Playing Multiple Flvs
Hi
I wondered iof some could help me. Im trying to build a simpler version of jumpcut. So users can upload video and then create a small sequecne out of them. Th ebit Im strugglign with is playing the "sequence" without the seeking messing up. I can get the in and out points of each flv. But when i come to making them show as one thing, (so when first clip gets to its end point, go to start point of second) it goes all wonky.
I wondered if anyone coul dhelp me out here as the likes of jumpcut it seems ot work very well. Am i going about this all the wrong way?
thx in advance

How/What Tool Can I Use To Pub+vew Multiple Flvs?
Hello All,
Excellent forum by the way.
I need a player that can read off an XML file or something like that which can play a group of flv videos one after the other with possibility of looping after reaching the end of the list.
I was thinking of the example, like CNET, when they show their review of a product, you always see and advertising spot before and after...
I am really looking for a way to play a sequence of .FLVs on the same player window, from hardcoded or external xml or whaterver file/directory. Is there a way, I ask?
How and what player can I use?
Any thoughts of advice out there?

Combineing Multiple FLVs Into One
Does anyone know if it is possible, through the use of flash communication server, to combine multiple FLV files into one big FLV? For example, I'd like to record an FLV through a webcam and then tack on a previously recorded FLV to the end of the FLV I just recorded through my webcam. I know I could set up a script that runs through a playlist but for my project combineing the two into one file would be more ideal.
I'd also like to be able to trim off the last few seconds of an FLV if that is at all possible.
I don't know if what I'm trying to accomplish is even possible, but if anyone has any ideas the help would be appreciated.

[F8] Flash Video W/multiple Flvs
I have multiple flvs.
I would like for the first flv to loop until someone clicks play on the player at which time the 2nd should play. When the 2nd finishes I would like for it to go back to the first and loop.
I have tried all kinds of things to make this work. I am a web designer and this is my first attempt with flash. I am almost embarrassed to admit how many hours I have at this.
I have managed to make something that almost works with custom flvplayer components but I am unhappy with the way the controls look. I would really like to do this with a typical looking flash player.
In addition this needs to be done with progressive download instead of
embed.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

vidList = new Array("01_001.flv", "01_002.flv", "01_003.flv", "01_004.flv", "01_005.flv");
Can someone help me write a script that will play these files right after another into the MediaDisplay component named 'vidPlayer2'
This would be greatly appreciated.

Playing Multiple FLVs Smoothly
Hi there
Im trying to play several FLVs, one after another, but I cant seem to find a way to "join" the videos smoothly. I have all the videos preloaded, and listen to the NetStream.Play.Stop Status Event to start loading the next video, but I get a small pause between videos.
does anyone knows a better way to do this?
thanks!

Video Player, Multiple FLVs And PHP
have a client that wants a video archive. Example http://buccaneers.com/multimedia/videoarchive.aspx
Looks like the list is pulled from a database. Then the script generates a list and serves it to the player. When you hover over the links they are sending name of the file. Does anyone have an idea how to do this? I have done a video player with a selection box but it was all handcoded and not hooked up to a database. I will be using PHP.
Also he may want it like the media player on the home page. Does that look like its hardcoded in the fla or is it dynamic too?
Controlling Multiple Flvs - Flash8
I wish to load several flv's into the same movie and have them placed next to each other with the first one playing and the next ones paused at frame 1.
How can i accomplish this?
Controlling Sequence Of Multiple FLVs
Hi, I'm looking for a way to control the sequence of 4 flvs with conditionals.
- Upon page load, Video1.flv plays and continues onto Video2.flv.
- If the user hits pause at any time, I'd like the Waiting.flv video clip to loop.
- Upon resuming after pause, I'd like the WelcomeBack.flv video clip to play and then return to where it was before pausing.
Is this possible?
Any help is much appreciated. I have no idea how to go about this, and I'm a little actionscript-impaired.
Thanks!

Multiple FLVs From MediaDisplay Component ?
Not new to Flash, but I am new to advance AS and working w/components. ... so hopefully someone can help...
I have a video player w/5 checkbox components, one mediaDisplay component stored in a mc. My flvs are stored on a Speedera server. Right now when you select the first checkbox the video starts to play, but as soon as you select another, that video overrides the first one instead of loading or "waiting in the background" while the first finishes playing.
Here's my checkbox component code:
var myCheckbox = new Array [chkvid1, chkvid2, chkvid3, chkvid4, chkvid5];
myCheckbox.dataProvider = [{label:"Movie 1", data:"url.flv"}, {label:"Movie 2", data:"url.flv"}];
var myCheckboxListener:Object = new Object();
myCheckboxListener.change = function(eventObj) {
var theSelectedItemData:String = evt.target.selected;
mystream_ns.setBufferTime(5);
// play the movie
mystream_ns.play(theSelectedItemData);
//timing(evt.target.selected.myTime);
};
function playVid(evt:Object) {
if (evt.target.selected) { this._parent.myVideoHolder.my_video.setMedia("url.flv");
}
}
chkvid1.addEventListener("click");
Then I have a button function to play all checked videos (that should be in cue) back to back in the same media component. Any suggestions?
Controlling Sequence Of Multiple FLVs
Hi, I'm looking for a way to control the sequence of 4 flvs with conditionals.
- Upon page load, Video1.flv plays and continues onto Video2.flv.
- If the user hits pause at any time, I'd like the Waiting.flv video clip to loop.
- Upon resuming after pause, I'd like the WelcomeBack.flv video clip to play and then return to where it was before pausing.
Is this possible?
Any help is much appreciated. I have no idea how to go about this, and I'm a little actionscript-impaired.
[F8] Play Time For Multiple FLVs In One Video
I'm working on this video in Flash8. For a couple of the videos I need to play a short FLV in the middle of another FLV. I was wondering if there is a way to show the current time of the two FLVs combined. So it looks like one video to the viewer.
This is the code that I use now that works for just one.
Code:
//total time script
timecode = Math.round(mcFLV.movFLV.totalTime);
tmins = Math.floor(timecode/60);
tsecs = Math.floor(timecode%60);
tmins = (tmins <10) ? "0"+tmins : tmins;
tsecs = (tsecs<10) ? "0"+tsecs : tsecs;
vidTime = tmins+":"+tsecs;
//current time script
htimecode = Math.round(mcFLV.movFLV.playheadTime);
hmins = Math.floor(htimecode/60);
hsecs = Math.floor(htimecode%60);
hmins = (hmins<10) ? "0"+hmins : hmins;
hsecs = (hsecs<10) ? "0"+hsecs : hsecs;
headTime = hmins+":"+hsecs;
//show results in variable
displayTime = headTime+"/"+vidTime;
};
Then I just have a dynamic text box with a variable named "displayTime".
My FLVs are played through the FLV player component.
I'm trying to take this code apart and on Flash Help it says that "totalTime" does not have any effect until the FLV is loaded. So since I'm loading the FLV later in the timelline in the same component... would this be my problem?
Any ideas?
Synchronised Video, Multiple FLVs & Screens
Hi all,
I'm want to develop a presentation that will be very much like the "Spokesperson Presentation with Synchronized Graphics" tutorial available at the Macromedia site...
http://www.macromedia.com/devnet/mx/...corppreso.html
My main difference is that there is not a continuous running video in my project, but in fact around 6 FLV files of 30 seconds a piece. The video is not intended to play throughout the presentation either, but just appear at appropriate times. On some screens, there'll be no video at all but just a few graphics and text appearing as an animation.
I'm kind of getting confused as to whether to stick with the tutorial file that Macromedia made available that uses screens, or revert to a standard timeline/scene based Flash file. In both instances with my attempts, I’ve been unable to get Flash to play a FLV and then jump to the next screen or scene...despite reading repeated postings on a little bit of actionscript you can us as a listener for the end of the FLV movie.
So, I thought I’d post at these early stages and see what people think. The tutorial template (which is screen/slide based) appeals because of the common template of buttons etc that is used on the top-level screen and can be interacted with by people. But I’m getting myself confused in managing to get this to turn into a self-running presentation when the video isn’t always continuously running.
Any advice welcome.

Playing Multiple FLVs In A Html Page
I'm making an html page in which I want to play FLV files. There will be a bunch of buttons -- "Episode 1", "Episode 2", "Episode 3".....all the way upto 9 on the page.
When a user clicks on a button, I want the appropriate FLV to play in a certain 480x270 space within the page.
how do i code for that? I know this is more of an html question, but I thought that it would relate

Preloading And Playing Multiple Flvs Without A Pause
Hi,
I've searched around and haven’t really found anything definitive about this. I’m trying to preload five flv files and then get them to play one after the other with as little pause in between as possible. I’m thinking I might need to create five netstreams and then pause them, check to see if they’re loaded, start playing then first when they are with the others hidden, then after flv one is done show the container for flv two, etc. I’ve done a test and I still get a bit of a jump in between flvs. Has anyone done then and got it to work without that hiccup?
Thanks.

Preload Or Projector For Multiple Swfs And Flvs
Hello,
I have an interactive e-learning application broken up into a bunch of swfs. There are also 5 flvs. It works great online. My employer wants an option for users to download the entire thing and then begin using the app. So I have some questions...
Is it possible to preload all the swfs and flvs?
Would it be better to create a projector file and have the user download it?
If I go the projector route, how do I complie all my swfs and flvs into one projector file?
Thanks for any help. I'm new to the whole projector thing so any info is appreciated.

Calling Up Multiple Flvs Into A Video Player Via A Button
If some kind soul could help me out, I'd be much obliged. I want to use a scrolling thumbnail panel of buttons to call up different flvs into a video player. My problem is I don't know how write the code that allows one movie to be switched out and replaced by another on the button press. I could try repeating the entire player code each time a button is pressed but i'm sure that's incredibly inefficient and that there's a much better way to do it.
Panel40a is my scrolling thumbnail panel. Maska is the clickable area of the panel. If anyone could set me straight on this, I'd appreciate it.
This is as far as I could get with the code:
panel40a.onRollOver = panelOver;
function panelOver () {
this.onEnterFrame = scrollPanel;
delete this.onRollOver;
}
var b = maska.getBounds (_root);
function scrollPanel () {
if (_xmouse<b.xMin || _xmouse>b.xMax || _ymouse<b.yMin || _ymouse>b.yMax) {
this.onRollOver = panelOver;
delete this.onEnterFrame;
}
if (panel40a._x >= 120) {
panel40a._x = 120;
}
if (panel40a._x <= -513) {
panel40a._x = -513;
}
var xdist = _xmouse -400;
panel40a._x += -xdist / 7 ;
}

Preloading Multiple FLVs And Avoiding Latency / Buffer / Lag
I am currently working on a flash program that will essentially let you create your own song of jingle-bells, using a selection of many FLV files (just audio, no video), in sort of a Mad-Libs fashion. The song is broken into various parts, so I have
person1_verse1.flv
person1_verse2.flv
and so on...
then I have a jingle_bells.flv with embedded cuepoints, that trigger the code to play one of the person#_verse#.flv files. The problem is that occassionaly, it takes too long for some of the files to buffer, but unpredictable. i am guessing this is since I am loading them all dynamically through a netstream object.
Im hoping there is a way to preload the FLVs I will need to avoid this occassional delay, or if there is another approach I would love to hear it...
the voice tracks are all encoded to FLV 16kbps mono, and are all about 16kb in size each, and I am getting buffer issues running from the disk (not even from a server) so I can only imagine the problems that may arise when it goes online.
Playing, With Looping, Multiple File Types (FLVs And SWFs)
I need to play FLVs and SWFs in the same window as well as have all the videos play one after another and continue the loop. I will have 7 slots for video. The user will activate the playing of the videos and be able to select any of the 7 and the loop will continue on from there. I have found a pretty slick component using FLVplayback behaviors. It does everything for you, but works with FLVs only, I need to plug in SWFs as well. The reason behind this is that I want to show video and also vector animations created in flash. Compressing the swf to flv is a huge pain. I have spent the better part of today searching and searching for someone who has done this with no luck. I was hopeing one of you guys could help me out or point me in the right direction?
here is a link to the FLVplayback behavior i refered to earlier.

Multiple Or Single Swf? - Performance?
Hi,
I'm developing a charity site and i can several elements that need to load external data, should I
a) make a separate swf for each element (would be 5 or 6 in total)
or
b) 1 big swf
OR
c) 2 swf's (one for the main text, one for all the side elements);
It is important that some load random text for each page, it would also be nice if I could figure out how to load an image into one of them - I haven't been able to figure this out (the whole dynamically creating a movie clip and loading an image into it never works)
thanks for any help or suggestions

Single Load Bar For Multiple Swf's?
I was wondering if anybody here knows how to grab the _totalBytes (or equivalent) of an external swf without starting the download process?
I'm trying to avoid loading both the main file and the external swf file at the same time, but just have one load bar that accounts for both. This isn't integral to my project but I'm just trying to polish it up a bit.
I'm thinking about trying something in the vein of calling the external swf file, grabbing the _totalBytes and assigning the value to a variable, then immediately unloading it. I would call the external file again when the time is right to actually complete the loading of that file. Is there a more elegant solution than this? Would Flash halt the loading process upon unloading the mc or would it still try to load it in my cache?
