My Page Disappears Help
I've recently discovered a problem with my Flash designed site and I am stumped as to what is causing it or how to fix it. Please help!
On a limited number of computers (most if not all have been Macs) my website will "disappear" if the page is minimized or if the user scrolls up or down or in any way covers up the material on the page with another window. If the user then runs his mouse over buttons or anything else on the page they will reappear but anything that is not scroll-overable is gone for good until they refresh.
The two people that I've had check have both had Flash Player 6 and were using Internet Explorer (version 5.1 I think but not sure).
Has anyone ever encountered a problem like this or have any idea what might be causing it? The website is http://www.auspexentertainment.com/index2.html if you will please take a look and help me out here.

Clicking Functionality Disappears If You Leave The Page
Hey All,
I've got a very strange thing happening with the site I'm working with. The main bulk of the site is made up of a "parent" .swf that plays different "child" .swf files within it depending on which part of the flash site the user visits. The site's worked great and I've had no problems with it...until now.
Recently, the powers that be have asked me to put an "intro" page before the main flash site to introduce a contest/giveaway that they want to run. This intro is located on a separate .html page. From this intro page, the user can either say "no thanks" and hit a button that takes them to the main website (located, of course on its own .html page), or they can hit a different button to register for the contest. All works well from there. However, here's where the problem comes in...
If you go to the main site, there is a button on the main page (part of the initial child .swf) that uses the simple getURL() command to take the user back to the intro. In IE, this works fine. In Firefox, this works only once....meaning, I click the button and it takes me back to the intro, but once I go back to the main site again, clicking any of the buttons in the child .swf does nothing. You can roll over the buttons and get the sounds/animations to play...but clicking functionality doesn't work at all. And it's not just for the button that takes you back to the intro page...it's for ALL the buttons in the child .swf.
I found that the buttons in the parent .swf (the top navigation buttons) on the page work just fine and take you to all the parts of the site as normal.
Reloading the page doesn't correct this problem. The only way to get the buttons in the child .swf to function properly once more is to close the browser and re-open the site.
Would anyone happen to know a workaround for this? If you'd like to see what I'm talking about, go to http://www.reallivesports.com using the Mozilla Firefox browser (again, there are no problems in IE at all...just this browser). Click the button that takes you to "the locker room". In the locker room, a scoreboard will drop down from the celing. It can be clicked and will take you back to the page you just came from. Click the button that takes you back to the locker room one more time, and you'll see that none of the buttons in the locker room work anymore.

Nav Bar Disappears

has any one had this problem?
We have an outside vendor doing our website. They are using flas on the site as a navigation bar. For some reason, when some of us go to the site, (using IE 6) and the flash 7.0 plug-in the nave bar dissappears. Nothing. Nada.
Then sometimes you go there and all is well. The vendor says it is a documented problem with MM. Yet I have never heard of such. Has anyone else?

Mc Disappears
Hi
Here is my code for a simple curtain type effect.
Attach indexphoto_mc to the stage
When testi_btn is pressed I want a curtain to rise up and cover the image. Well, what happens is that the image disappears and then the curtain rises up?
Please tell me how to solve this, and what is going wrong.

Everything Disappears
this is a strange one, i think it must be a memory issue but..
I'm making a cd-rom in flash mx. It has about 7 scenes (the fla is about 2.4mb), inside one i have numerous movie clips with fairly complicated graphics (building plans) and when i go into the clip to edit it, i can't see anything?! nothing appears on the stage at all. When the file is previewed its all there and fine, but i can't see anything in flash to edit..
any ideas?

Layer 1 Disappears
I am a newbie!!
I want to use the log in screen of my web site as the background and have text tween in. I copy the web page and put it on layer 1. On layer 2 I am successful with creating motion, but when I press play, the background (layer 1) disappears.

Sub Menu Disappears
(I posted this in Scripting, but I think it is more of a general question, an I haven't gotten a reply for several days).

When you click on 'About Paris' a sub menu comes up. Go down to 'Paris Monuments' and a sub-sub menu pops up. But once you start moving down this (sub-sub) menu, the first menu disappears.
How can I get it to stay?
Please help. I think it's something like 'if subsubmenu is visible, then submenu is visible'. Not sure.

Attached MC Disappears?
I have a movieClip which animate with a couple of Tweens
Each keyframe has the same variable name
I have place another movieClip, through attachMovielip(), into the animated movieClip.
The problem is that halfway through the animation the attached movieClip disappears. It is almost as if the variable name has changed or it is another MC in the animation. The link gets broken and I can find out why. I've checked the variables and it is definitly the same MC in tweened animation.
Any ideas?

Toolbar Disappears?
I am primarily a PC user but at work they've now got me set up with a Mac running OS X. The toolbar has disappeared in Flash MX and I can't get it back. Not the one with the fill bucket etc. but the one with the magnet that controls the lines attaching to the grid that you usually turn on and off fronm the "window" menu. There doesn't seem to be a way to turn that palette on and off in OS X like there is in Windows. Any thoughts how to get it back?

a high speed connection, it's working OK! But with a slower connection with a modem (56K) the progressbar is visible for just

Every Thing Disappears
I have managed to work out how to use flash for a presentation, I have got a few static frames then an animation. But when I press ctrl + enter and play the animation one frame in particular disappears. When I looked at the pres where the timeline is the keyframe for the frame had the pics but the four frames after that were blank and I don't know how to fix it. So I was wondering if anyone could help me. Thanks

Txt Disappears When I Format It?

I am going nuts, don't know if it is something simple or not!
Trying to format dynamic text, but when I do and run the swf file, the text disappears, in other words.
exampletext=This isn't formatted and therefore shows up when I run my swf.
exampletext=This doesn't because I <B>format</B> a word in the sentence.

Flash Disappears
I have a flash banner made from KoolMoves that disappears when the drop down menu above it tries to open over it. Some time back I posted this in the KoolMoves area and was told to try here.

Button Disappears, Why?
at this link, www.mpaads.com/lourdes/virtualtour/progressbar, you'll find my project. The problem is that when you click the 'NURSING' button, then click the 'INTRODUCTION' button, the subpage button, 'Hospital Campus' disappears. Array Just Disappears
I create and Array, fill it with values, call a function and about 1/10 times the Array has disappeared. I check the array just before the function call, and it is there, and again at the function and it is gone.
I have checked everything I can think off. No variable clashes and all the variable are still there in the function but the Array has gone.
In the end I found out that even if I try to re-create the variable inside the function it cannot be done. I do this in the function:
_root["page"+_root.secId+_root.pageCount].loadSeq = new Array();
trace(typeof(_root["page"+_root.secId+_root.pageCount].loadSeq))
... and the trace would register 'undefined' about one in ten times (at other times it is 'object' as it shoud be).
Completely befuddled and help would be greatly appreciated.

Flash Disappears
I got beyond my previous posting about the error message. I was able to successfully embed a .swf file in a PP presentation. When I hit "slde show" it displayed nicely. I saved the file and reopned it only to discover that the ActiveX control appeared to still be on the page and the gray representation of the .swf was there but when I hit "slde show" it would not display. It seems that the act of saving the file ruined every thing. My URL or path to the .swf was still intact

Content Disappears In IE
I've built a site which has a welcome text and some images, both in separate movie clips based at _root. At the top left of the movie clips, also in _root, are two empty movie clips, waiting to load content once a button is clicked. It all works fine in firefox and safari on the mac, and in firefox on the PC. But in MS-IE v7.0 for Windows XP Professional the website comes up, just that the welcome content is missing (not sure about other IE versions). Everything else is there and the movie clips load content once you click the button. It's driving me crazy!!!! Any ideas why? I've published the movies in player 6.0. Is this a mistake?

How To Let The Mouse Disappears?
Guys, I've replaced the curser in my movie with another object and everything is fine. but, when I move the mouse out of the movie area, the object which is used as a mouse is left behind. Stream.get() Disappears
About the simplest thing you might want to do with FMS is to play a stream to a client. So you do something like this:

Works just fine for a couple of minutes and then stops. Careful review of the server administration console shows that the file "recordedstream.flv" is playing to a nonexistent client that shows no traffic and a connection time of Dec 31 19:00. It appears that the server thinks the client is idle and kills both it and the playing stream.
So how would you play a recorded stream to a client? (Not using the VOD application, I don't want to give the client a choice of what stream to play, I want to choose the stream.)

VOD Application Disappears
Hey,
We have FMS3 installed on our server but whenever we try to load a new instance of VOD it disappears after a couple of seconds. There doesn't seem to be anything useful in the log files to explain why this is happening. I have tried restarting the server to no avail.

Help System Bug - Help Disappears...
I've been having problems with the Flash MX 2004 help system. Any time I try to get the updated help my entire component dictionary section of the help goes "blank."
Without this update I don't have class information about Dataholders, etc.
Does anyone know a fix for this? Macromedia apparently doesn't care enough about their customers to deal with support issues that their bugs create.

Ive spent the last hour arranging some "3d" cubes in a text-like formation so that it looks like 3d text, and flash suddenly disappeared, and I lost everything, and i will now have to start again. Menu Bar Disappears, But I Know It's There

I am loading levels into a main swf, these levels load via a Menu bar built into my main movie... how do I keep the menu bar from disappearing as the other layers load into the main? I know it's underneath my other levels cuz I get a mouseover on the buttons, I just can't see the menu bar...

Content Disappears
when I leave a window with flash content, in this case, a scrolling movie clip with buttons inside set to hyperlink popups (only 1 hyperlink is set so far):

the flash content will disappear. So if I go back to the window, I have to reload the page to get the flash to appear again.
Same thing happens if I minimize the window, when I bring it back up, no flash, and I have to reload the page.
The menubar with the boxes at the top is flash as well (different swf) and that doesn't have this problem.
Anyone have an idea what I'm doing wrong?
EDIT: specifically, the first image in the scrolling flash pane links to a popup window. If you MOVE the popup window, the flash content in the first page dissapears.

Swf Into Swf --> Txt Field Disappears
I have a photoGallery.swf, with an xml-generated menu... Every link will load a img.swf listed in the xml file.
The img.swf is fairly simple: 1 image in the bg, 1 small txt field that loads some external text.
My problem = while the img.swf displays correctly when viewed alone, the text disappears when I load it from the photoGallery.
Actually, I can even say that I see the text during the glint of an eye, less than a second, when I load the swf from its link in the photoGallery's menu. So I really don't get why it disappears...
Another thing, if I run my mouse over the area where the text field is supposed to be I can see the cursor change. So the text field IS there, it's just a matter of seeing it. LOL Actually, not lol... pathetic. #_#
PS: yes, I did embed the fonts...
Any idea where I can look to fix that?

My Button Disappears
In the first frame I have a blue button and a url to a site.
In the second frame I have green button and told the button to go to the first frame. Where in the first frame I have the visibility of the blue button and not the green.
So when I test my movie out. I get the blue button I click on the blue button get the url and momentarily see a flicker of the green button in frame 2 because I told the button to go back to frame 1 where the green button doesn't show.
I want the person to keep clicking on the window that opens up in the first window. I don't want them to go back and press on the button to bring up the window. I thought if they click on the first window of the url then the function gets passed. I guessed right now I just get a flicker when I press on the green button because I set the visibility of the green button false in the first frame of the movie.
How do I fix this the first window is to a search engine site. I can't bring up another url to a window because the search is based on input from the first urL?
Unless I upload the html file to my flash program. Can I upload an html file to a flash program and script it so the second button receives the output from the first, and the third the output of the second button?

Help System Bug - Help Disappears...
I've been having problems with the Flash MX 2004 help system. Any time I try to get the updated help my entire component dictionary section of the help goes "blank."
Without this update I don't have class information about Dataholders, etc.
Does anyone know a fix for this? Macromedia apparently doesn't care enough about their customers to deal with support issues that their bugs create.

Flash Disappears
Ive spent the last hour arranging some "3d" cubes in a text-like formation so that it looks like 3d text, and flash suddenly disappeared, and I lost everything, and i will now have to start again. Anybody had this problem, and is there any solutions? (apart from saving your work regularly, which I always forget to do)

Menu Bar Disappears, But I Know It's There
Hiya,
I am loading levels into a main swf, these levels load via a Menu bar built into my main movie... how do I keep the menu bar from disappearing as the other layers load into the main? I know it's underneath my other levels cuz I get a mouseover on the buttons, I just can't see the menu bar...
Any snippet of code to make this work would be awesome!

XML Text Disappears
Hey fellow shockers,
I took a huge step ahead after my last question. The great Nutrox supplied a very good script for my problem. Unfortunately another problem occured.
When I load the XML picture viewer .swf (loadmovie command) into a container MC in my main movie it shows the image caption just fine. now i want to load it into a container MC which resides in a MC. If i do this, the XML text refuses to show up. Why is that? It works well on the _root level but why not at one level deeper? The images show up either way.

Flash Disappears
I have a flash movie embedded on my site using the proper object tags. I also have a layer above it that appears when mousing over a button. The menu displays perfectly over the flash player using wmode and z-index properties as it should be. However on Mac FireFox, the flash video will just completely disappear whenever the mouseover'ed menu pops up over the video.

File Sometimes () Disappears After Preload
I am having an intermittent problem with this page -

I am using Flash 4, on a Mac.
When I open the file locally, there is no problem with it. After it is uploaded to Sympatico, the preload comes on, and, *sometimes* when the file is fully loaded, it disappears, only to reappear when I reload. I asked about 8 people to look at this, some of them have the same problem, some of the time.
The preload animation is in frames 1 - 6
Actions in frame 1 read:
Go to and play (1)
If frame is loaded ("all objects")
Go to and play ("start")
End frame loaded
Actions in frame 6 read:
Go to and play (1)
Frame 7 is labelled "all objects", and contains every image in the file
Frame 8 is labelled "start"
Actions are "stop" (this part of the file is a collection of 13 images, to be clicked through, one at a time).
Any idea of what might be causing this problem?
I am perfectly stumped.

Dynamic Text Disappears
Hi, I'm have a bit of a problem. I got dynamic text to work (I'm a newbie at actionscript) but for some reason it disappears as soon as I take my mouse off the button. Here is what I have so far.
On the button I have this action:
on (release) {
_level0.NewMovieText = "HOME";
gotoAndPlay (125);
}
At frame 125 I have an MC named NewMovie with a dynamic text field in it with the var set to NewMovieDisplay. I also have the actions on frame 125 set to this:
NewMovie.NewMovieDisplay = _level0.NewMovieText;
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but I need the text to stay in the field. thanks for the help in advance.

I Mask And Text Disappears
I ave a set of movies that I am going to load into a parent movie as the user interacts with the parent.
I have created a mask that covers the entire stage of the child movie to ensure the pieces outside the document do not appear on the parent.
However, the mask seems to have made all my text disappear. Any text boxs sitting on the masked movie seem to have their content disappear, even those with dynamically loading content.
Any idea what the problem is??!!??

Actionscript Disappears On Loadmovie
hi there,
I have a A.fla file in which I load an external B.swf into a postion/goal (empty movie clip) but when I publish it, all the actionscript like _root.omarueck._x=_root.omarueck._x+38; of the A.swf is gone!!
To load the B.swf into a position like '2' is useless, because once the A.fla itself is published, it will loaded into another C.fla file (the carrier)
Since I do not want to recreate all the moves in tweens - what shall I do?

2 Object Rollover 1 Disappears HOW?
First of all I want to shout out a THANXS to "mykrob" for helping me last night! Now to my problem:
What I have are 2 squares with writing on them. One is in front of the other (staggerd with folder like tabs). What I can't figure out is out to get the one in front to go away when ever you mouse over the back square's tab so you can read what's on the square, and then come back when you roll away from the tab! I can submit the .fla if needed just say the word!
