Login To Mc - Password Through Text File?
Hello!

Id like to create a user name & password area (backstage_mc) inside a main.swf. Ive used simple login forms before (www.stallescotia.com) but Id like this to take its list of users & passwords through a txt.file so that my friend can update it without having to go into Flash, does anyone know of a good tutorial either AS2 or AS3?

How To Set Up Password Input Text Box
I would like to know how to set up a password protection scheme for a web page.

I know it would involve setting up a single line, input text box. Would I save that as a graphic or movie clip and assign an action to it? What steps do I take? Page 128 of macromedia's flash 5 actionscript reference guide shows a five stage decision table on how the flash player decides on a request for access. Looks very complicated.

Password - Input Text
I have a movie that has an opening page with password box. If the password is correct, the visitor is taken to the next scene. If the password is incorrect, he or she is taken to the next frame, which basically says to retry the password. This is repeated 3 times. If the password is invalid all 3 times, the movie blacks out. So, basically it goes something like;

frame 1 - password
frame 2 - retry
frame 3 - password
frame 4 - retry
frame 5 - password
frame 6 - access denied.

My question is when I click "retry" from frame 2, I'm taken to frame 3. The problem is the inputbox keeps the previous entry for the password (asterisks). How do I get it to clear the input box?

Second question, does anyone know a script that would automatically close the brower at frame 6?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hidden Password In Input Text Box
How do I hide the letters in a password input text box. I have an input text box for the viewer to type in a password and would like the password to not show when typed in, like is the case with html text boxes, where you just see a bullet for each letter in the password. How would I do this? Is there a font I could use?

Login Screen + Text Box For Input
Hi guys there are a few things i was needing help with in macromedia flash pro 8.

Firstly is im making a stargate atlantis simulator and im doing the login screen and i have added 1 text box for inputting text.
it is for the username and a button underneath it is to login so what i want to is what ever the person type in the username text box will let u login by clickin the login button but i dont want them to be allowed to beable to login untill they have entered there username.
Also the login screen is a seperate swf file then the dialing computer but on the dialing computer i wanna make whatever the person type in on the login screen appear like this in the top right corner of the screen.

Input Text Field And The Missing Password
Using Flash 8 I created a simple password protected area. The frame contains a stop action.
The user can type in the text field with the variable name of scott the password.
When the click the button enter they should be broght to the correct frame using the conditional statement. Below is the code I have attached to the button.

on (release){
if (_root.scott == "enter") {
gotoAndStop(5);
} else {
gotoAndStop(3);
}

}

The problem is this only works when I have the published settiings set to Flash 7 or lower.

This will not work with Flash 8.

If I set the variable _root.scott in the firstframe to "enter" as in

_root.scott="enter";

The text box loads with enter in its field, however, when I type the same word in the text filed it doesn't work.

It seems that Flash 8 abandoned the ability for the user to change the value of an input text box variable by typing into the textbox field.

Any hope would be greatly appreciated.

Quick Password / Input Text Question
Hello Everyone

I just have a quick (novice) question regarding a Flash Password form that I set up. It's pretty simple, but I just need to know how to make it so that the person can just hit ENTER when done typing the password, rather than clicking the submit button.

Right now I have an input text field, with "pass" as it's variable name. Also, line type is set to Password in the pulldown menu. It works fine with my submit button which has the following code:

How To Hide A Input Text Field In A Login Form.

I'm making a login form, and i've managed to make it work, but when the form actually moves frames, both the user_field, and password_field, remains visible...

What am I missing to make those fields disappear?.

i have created a password and login "thing".

in the first frame is two input textfields (login & password) and a button that has the script:

frame 2 says "connecting to site..." and has the script:

frame 3 says "wrong, try again" and has a back button that contains the script:

Password Login For Flash 5?
I'm trying to get a password movie clip to work with two scenes. Basically the MC is on scene 1 and when they enter the correct password, it would take them to scene 2 and then the designated scene. I was just going to create a simple website in Flash for my employer to replace the old, dated html site. Well in the middle of my project I find the the company will now be offering a new product. They have combined efforts with another company that currently has a web based online product. What I have been asked to do is set up a member verification login. Each plan participant will be assigned a user name and password. What I am trying to do is to create a login and password authentication page that would verify the individual as a plan participant and then allow them to continue to the other company branded site. Can this be done in Flash? Seems like this would be a perl script or something. I have no experience with this but I am willing to give it a shot. I was wondering if this would be possible. If Flash could detect an external .txt to see if the dynamic username and password would be correct, and thus allowing them to enter the flash. Instead of editing the username and password everytime a newcomer comes in...

Login And Password - From A .txt File?
I downloaded a login and password thing to see how it works and how I would make my own.
Unfortunatly the .fla I downloaded, had a bug in it and required you to press enter twice to get in.

I thought this would be the safest way. I DO NOT want to have the login and password in the actionscript because that is to easy to hack.
What im basically looking to do is have a .txt file where the name of the .txt would be the login, and inside would read password= w/e.

So it would be like this: if the login was "admin" and the password was "default"

admin.txt inside it reads password="default"
so that would be 1 log in and password. But the client wants to have multiple logins which can be easily edited and deleted.

Somhow I have to make it read from any .txt file and if the login matches the password would let you in. This is really confusing :P

If anyone has any ideas, or better suggestions for a secure login and password please let me know.

100% Secure Password Login Sequence

Agreed... But once the, server side PHP script has cross referenced the MySQL database for a username/password match, the script then needs to send a variable access boolean back to the client. But surely this could be easily manipulated/spoofed client side (Like packet sniffing, but outputting rather than listening).

Could you perhaps encrypt the access variable with the password (server side), send it to the client & then the client can unencrypt the access variable with the user inputted password variable? Only one flaw with that is you are ultimately going to have to have if(access == 1) in the swf which can apparently be opened and manipulated!!

Is there a crack proof login sequence available?

Flash Password Login Problem
hi, i have a problem with the login screen i'm trying to make with flash mx and hope u guys can help me out. i checked out the tutorial but it doesn't apply to mine.

it goes like this..

user sees a blank swf with just 1 blank field for password.

correct pass = proceed to my preloader
wrong pass = nothing happens

i can only guess that i would be using the "if" and "gotoandplay" commands.

i do not want use any username, just the password field will do. so i guess it would be quite a simple one. just that i'm dumb enough not to know that.

u gurus tell me pls what code to put.

Simple Username/password Login

Been using adobe flash cs3 for a school project and i need to make a simple username/password login for the project. The problem is that, when using various tutorials in various websites, like this one:

Hey.

I'd like to realize a full flash website. Before I throw myseelf into it, I try to think of the different necessary steps.

Right now I have troubles with some questions to which I hope you'll have some answers.

So the site will be structured as a main flash movie contained in a PHP webpage. The main movie loading MC on the fly depending of the button menu pressed. Nothing special really.

1) Since the main flash movie will have to communicate with a database, the only solution is to include the connexion infos (server , login , password) into the main movie. However if one tries to decompile the file, he will have access to those infos and might delete the database. Really it's not safe, and I'd like to know if there are some tricks that would solve this problem.

2)For a part of the website I'd like the users to be logged in. Once again it requires a database communication. But is it possible to use the session variables of PHP ? Actually I don't know what's the best way of managing such a thing into a full flash site (the main flash movie having to check that the visitor is logged in).

3) I'd like to have a news managment in flash. To sum up in the database I'll have some text lines, and a few url to pictures. When the visitor arrives on the news page I would like to dynamically load the required texts in a specified format , and to load the images into independant MC. I would create a MC apart including a mini preloader, just to be the container for the photos. IS it easily to realize that.

4) Still using dynamically loaded MC, I'd like to realize a photo gallery , entirely in Flash. Untill now i haven't seen any example that fits what I have in mind. IF you understand what I mean and have some ideas ...

Login - Password Protected Content/page
I scanned the net for the best way to provide a login protection for the site I am working on. One that enables those with the relevant username and password to access a page that holds protected content.
The method I have put in place is inherently coded in flash and utilises a separate text file to hold the username and password information.
It all works swimmingly telling the user if they have the wrong info, and logs them in nicely when the correct details have been typed in. But I discovered a major flaw in it recently that has me baffled.
If you type in any random text into both the username and password input boxes, then delete it all, you can then click the login button and heh presto you're in. Not very good at all.

There are two input text boxes with the variables 'loginname' and 'loginpass' and a dynamic text box called 'status'
Here is the code i have given the login button:
