New ActiveX Fix By Macromedia, Install MXP
Links to download the files here.
Install the extension. Works with Flash 8. Follow the links on that page, cause you need to also download the javascript files.
I've tried it and it works fine. You can publish a page from the HTML tab in Publish Settings with just the fix or the fix and a detect script if they don't have flash player installed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here's the latest update for Dreamweaver 8. This one works real good. It writes the code on the page and creates a folder with the scripts in it. Don't forget to upload the Scripts folder.
To install it, you should disable any mxp's you may already have, then run the updater, then enable the mxp's again. Tedious, but it works and it's free.
Call To Flash Plug-in Installer Directly Or Macromedia Install Page?
Is it OK to call to the flash plug-in installer directly should I send users to the Macromedia install page if they are missing the plug-in or the latest version?
2 years ago I used to assess the situation myself and then call the activeX Flash plug-in installer directly, but then Macromedia kept moving that link. I would rather not of course send customer off to Macromedia land if I don't need to.
Thanks in advance for the advice.
ActiveX ?
It seems like my film does not play if the user have a high security. The activeX is recognised as a Virus than. Do you know this problem? What can I do?- And by the way, what is activeX?
No ActiveX?
The default security setting in outlook won't allow activex which means no flash emails. There's no substitution for activex?
BOO Activex
Hi there, I'm new to this site, but basically I'm working on a site for a friend and everytime I load the pages I keep getting the same "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this webpage from running scripts or ActiveX controls that could access your computer. Click here for options..."
Now I keep telling it to run it, and then anytime I go there again I keep getting this!
I personally know how to disable this on my computer, but I'm worried this can affect my friends business because it's going to drive people NUTS having to do this everytime they click on a page at his site. My page is a combo of flash and html, I can provide a copy of the coding if anyone wants it, but is there anything I can do to make this stop happening on people's computers OR make it so that the different pages open up on the same bottom half (the very top portion is just a nice top that moves in flash).
Thanks so much!
IE And ActiveX
I'm working on a site for a client right now and I want to do the navigation in Flash, however, every site I've ever done since SP2/the new IE always has that anoying security bar come up, and along with the "Click here to activate this control" stuff that I gotta script around, this is the most annoying thing I've had to deal with. I went to this site, http://www.wedgewoodgolfclub.com/ which uses Flash for the nav bar, and yet the flash doesn't trigger the security warning, I know I must be missing something obvious, but can someone tell me how I can make it so that my content doesn't trigger the security warning?
ActiveX
Today I went to a Website; I got the "yellow" drop down top bar message asking if I wanted to Install ACTIVEX...I cliked OK. It then asked if I wanted to Install Windows Media Center.....I clicked...RUN. What I got was that when I now go to this site MUSIC plays. I have gone to this site many times in the past and don't recall having seen the request to Install ActiveX Plug-in.
Is there away to to removedelete
eturn the Website to its previous state when it didn't play the Music? I know I can stop or mute the Music by using the Media Player controls that now appear when I open the site....but that means manually doing it each time I open the site.
ActiveX
Ok,
* I've read all the articles (all 1001)
* I've purchased the Adobe Creative Suite 3 Web Premium
* The Active X fix is now installed on all my Dreamweaver pages and looks like this:
Flash, IE6 And ActiveX
hi....i'm not sure this is where this question goes but I didn't know where else to go and thought someone here may be able to help me.
My problem isnt with my flash files. It's with IE.
Everything was fine with my IE yesterday...nothing was wrong.
Last night I decided that I shoudl delete my old version of Flash 4 off the computer since I use Flash 5. So i did.
Now...today, whenever I go to a page with Flash in it using IE6, i get an activeX error....and even when i changed my security settings to enable everything the Flash movie doesnt come up. There's just a white space where the movie shoudl be.
I dont know what i did...i have no clue if deleting flash 4 had anythign to with it or not but since it happened after i did that it seems to make sense. but i dotn have flash 4 anymore to reinstall it and i dotn know what to do. The movies come up fine in netscape but i hate netscape..i need ie to work.
please please help me figure this out...i know nothing about ActiveX and things like that.
thanks...neha
ActiveX Control (OCX)
Hi there:
I've been designed for a couple months (actualy 18 months!)
site system what puts flash movies in web browsers and via javascript turn on/off different elements in the movie (thru TSetProperty('myMovieElement',7,0)). In the browser works just fine.
In the other hand also I've work in the Offline version (in Visual Basic and an Access database).
My problem consists in that the OCX control works fine loading the flash movie but I can't replicate the command versión for Visual Basic thats activates de visibility property [TSetProperty('myMovieElement',7,0)]
Do you know where can I find the a tutorial and or more specific documentation for that?
Obviosly I search in Macromedia's support page, and others sources (like this).
Thanks in advance.
Vb6 And The Shockwave Activex
This may be too simple...I am using the Shockwave Flash ActiveX to provide a much nicer interface to a VB6 project. I have no problem opening and playing a movie using this control, but I cannot determine the syntax for starting the movie at any scene other than the first scene. Consequently I have had to create as many different flash movies as I have changes in my interface; I would like to create one flash movie and be able to call the various scenes in that movie as needed. Any input would be much appreciated.
ActiveX Issues
Hi everybody, I'm a 3d artist who's trying to create a relatively simple website with Flash MX to showcase my portfolio, but I need someone to explain something to me. After I have my website complete I test it out with Internet Explorer, but IE tells me it's blocked my page because it contains Active X, which it says can harm my computer. Well, I've talked to a number of people who've told me I can fix this by simply enabling ActiveX. Well, I guess if that's what I have to do then fine, but tell me, why is that websites like this don't have the same problem??
If anybody could help me out here I'd really appreciate it!
Is there a way that I can put my flash work on a page and view it without ActiveX always taking over?
How do you disable it so when you open a page it doesn't prompt you?
Any help would be very appreciated.
ActiveX Equivalent For Mac OSX
If you want to incorporate the Flash player into a windows C++ application, you can use the COM interface on the ActiveX control to set properties and call methods. Unfortunatley, ActiveX is only allowed on Windows, is there an equivalent on a Mac? I heard that ActiveX may have been slightly supported on Mac's version of IE, but is there some equivalent interface to the flash player in the mac that I can access within a C++ program?
ActiveX Bug When Loading AS2 After AS3?
We're developing a VB.net application that has a Flash ActiveX control. It loads AS2 swf's and AS3 swf's... but after you load a AS3 swf, when you load a AS2 swf file into it, strange things start to happen... Tweens fail to animate mc's, and text input controls show as grey boxes.
Any idea on what's going on?
Allowing ActiveX?
I have a swf file that uses some activeX in it and I would like to know if there is any way around that stupid warning that IE will keep popping up to block the script.
Is there any was I can get past this without taking away the ActiveX?
ActiveX MSI Or Plugin MSI?
Hi, I am wanting to deploy the Flash player using a GPO software installation in MS Active Directory. The redist download page offers two MSI packages... one for IE ActiveX and the other as a plugin. What's the difference between these?
My users need to be able to use Flash in IE and Windows Live Messenger. Would I need to distribute the plugin or the ActiveX version or both?
Thanks
ActiveX Warnings
Okay, yes I know I'm going to get flamed here. Yes, I realize that I am no master of the code. Yes I realize that there are people in this field that are INFINITELY more intelligent than I am. So please save your breath (or your bytes). I am NEW to flash and yes I am NEW to javascript. When I am pasting my new flash animation into my web page, and then run the web page, I get two security warnings about the risk of running the web page when I look at it in my browser. The first at the top of my screen and the second comes at the middle of my screen. Once I OK both, the flash runs beautifully!
My problem is how do I make my web page NOT run those two security warnings. I have googled this, I have read dozens of pages and postings on this subject. I have copied and pasted code for days attempting to create my solution. Somehow, they all end up with the same two security warnings. I have created outside javascript files by copying and pasting off of the message boards, but I must be making mistakes there.
If I simply look at the original HTML code it reads as this:
<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="
ActiveX Problems
I read the "Click to Activate" sticky thread, but I need to make sure that the SWFObject will solve my problems.
I made a Flash player with Components to play an MP3 automatically when the user opens the website. The site worked on all machines tested, Mac, Windows, Firefox, IE 6, and Safari. Then the bigwig opens the page, and it says that he has to download ActiveX to view the content, and the MP3 doesn't play. Of course this is how it always goes.
I don't have a way of testing this again since it works on all of the machines I have access to. Is the best way to solve this problem to use the SWFObject, or should the kludge be a link to an .m3u and a note to "click if you can't hear the audio file"?
Thanks for any help,
Possible Fix For Flash And ActiveX
In October 2005 I purchased a specially built to my requirements a new computer.
Installed with = Windows XP Home [OEM] = Internet Explorer 6.0 = and also installed with Microsoft Works Suite 2005 = Note! = All MS required Windows Updates Installed. Using Broadband.
Now since October last year and up to last week I have been experiencing a total Computer Freeze in the process to access some Web Pages [I found to close the computer down I had to physically press the computer power button]
A couple of months ago I found the problem related to the Macromedia Flash and ActiveX programming.
I found I could overcome this problem by = Disabling = in the Internet Explorer = Add-Ons = the = Shockwave Flash Object... = SSV Helper Class ....= Sun Java Console...= After the Disabling I found I could access/view these problem Web sites
I found after the Disabling the Macromedia Flash programming I had the Web Pages with no flash images, only black bands in their place!
A week ago I found a =FIX =???!!!
By doing a Goggle Search for "patch to disable activex shockwave player object" [without the quotes] I found an article inserted by http://www.martijndevisser.com/blog/article/flash-limitations-in-ie6-kb912945 and within there page is a link to Microsoft update of 912945 [MS = link is http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=912945
Before installing the 912945 patch you must read the above Article by MartinDevisser and the Microsoft 912945 Articles
Yes, I downloaded and have installed this update.
Now for the last 8 days with all Add-Ons "Enabled" I have not had any problems viewing the problem sites
Please Note! The Update 912945 also corrected the computer freeze I received when trying to access the "Tour" in Microsoft Works Suite 2005 [Tour is located within Help symbol "?" on the top RH corner of main Works Suite page] I now can view the "Tour" all OK
Sparkle DLL/VCL/ActiveX
Recently I have created a Windows library (DLL) that can
build screen savers from Macromedia Flash movie files (*.swf).
Now the NEW VERSION of Sparkle library has VCL and ActiveX
wrappers. Extend your VB, C++, Delphi or even Java
flash-related software with ability to create screen savers!
Sample screen saver is here:
ActiveX OCX Question
I'm using the "Shockwave Flash" ActiveX component in a Visual Studio project I'm working on. It seems that the latest version (flash9e.ocx) doesn't work in the Visual Studio environment, but the previous version (flash9d.ocx) worked just fine.
I've tried to roll back the version by uninstalling and grabbing prior builds, but they all say "The version of Adobe Flash Player ActiveX that you are trying to install is not the most current version. Please visit blah blah blah..."
Any ideas?
[Shockwave ActiveX] Some Documentation ?
Hi developpers,
Where can i find some documentation on the ShockwaveFlashObjects (Flash.ocx) API ?
I've look it throw the OLE Viewer, and found some interesting methods (play(), stop() ...)
and semi-understandable methods (i think to 'AllowScriptAccess' which have a very interesting name !).
Does somebody have something which could help me in my research ?
thanks very much in advance,
Flash ActiveX Control
Hi,
I plan to use a VB application that has the flash ocx control embedded in a form. The vb app will need to detect whether or not the control is on the system, and if not install it.
Is the activeX control freely distributable?
Cheers
Flash ActiveX Component
Does anyone know if it is possible to prevent the flash activeX component from sending keyPresses to the browser? I am able to prevent the browser from responding to all function key pressed when it has focus, however when the flash movie gains focus it bypasses my javascript code and sends the event to the browser anyway. Does anyone know of a way to prevent this, or am I going to have to bug Macromeida to make the "trapallkeys" fscommand work with the activeX flash player?
XP SP2 Blocking Local ActiveX
I've just installed XP SP2. And IE is blocking local ActiveX. I do a lot of work where I'm constantly having to locally preview HTML that includes flash. Now I get the infuriatingly mis-named information bar every single bloody time.
How can I stop this? Firefox isn't an option unfortunately. And I've tried changing the security settings in IE but to no joy. Searched for solutions too, but can't find anything decent. What can I do?
thanks
