Shoe.exe - Is It A Virus?
Hi All,
Have a very strange problem as of an hour ago.
Everytime I click on a swf file or a flash projector file,
an alert dialog box opens up saying:
PROGRAM NOT FOUND
Windows cannot find shoe.exe
This programme is needed for opening files of type
'Flash Player Movie'

Does anyone have any idea of whats going on?
I am on Win98 and using Flash 5. RAn a virus scan also...no joy.

And after 5-10 minits of listen to the music
the suddenley the same sound you have on your icq when you type your message..start to hear and then after some second the sound when you press "send message" start to hear...i closed my icq but i still sound...and then i closed the flash-player then the sound stop...And i open it again and after 5-10 minits the sound come back again...is it a virus or a joke by the author?????
i have Norton firewall installed but i did not dectect anything and not Norton antivirus either..

Problem With .exe And Virus's At ISP's
I have produced a cheeky little flash projector file, you know the self running file that ends in .exe
The only problem is, is that sending it via email as we were planning to do, it sometimes (as in how do we know it gets there) gets held/stopped by ISP servers because it may be a virus etc.
Is there anyway I can get over this??
Could I embed it in some html within the email, or place it in the email its self.
Any help would be great

Strange Problem - Is It Virus?
I was learning flash at http://bn.com university. These are free classes. One of my movie was not working properly so I sent it to one fellow classmate to look and correct the problem. He sent me the solution and told me that he is sending a working version of my movie as .fla file.
When I opened the .fla file and when I tested that movie, it opened new movie with frame by frame animation while that movie has nothing to do with frame by frame animation. Actually that Movie contained action scripts. When I tried to open action panel, my whole screen started flickering.
I do not know what was it? Does anyone has any idea? If anybody wants to look at this movie, I will send it to you. I am just scared and do not know what to do? Please help.

Flash Virus Trojan
Hey All
I was busy drowsing off into sleep last night when it came to me, it probably isn’t anything to worry about but it could be.
We’ve had major problems lately in South Africa with online banking problems cause people have had key loggers and Trojans on their machines which send their passwords to the hackers who freely help themselves to the money.
You are probably thinking, “ what the hell does that have to do with Flash you ask?”
Well, I was wondering what would stop a hacker from using SWF Studio or Flash studio pro from creating such a virus.
With all those hundreds of Custom FS commands and availability to expand on them one could really do some damage since anti virus would not pick it up.
Call it paranoia, or is it?
I’m posting this thread on Flashkit and Friends of ed too but will collate all received info on the ultrashock forum.

Flash MX 2004 Virus?
I am not sure where to post this, but I was wondering if anyone out there has seen this. I think I may have recieved a virus, and it is causing my MX 2004 to look like this:

As you can see in the component inspector, the 0000's make it tough to use. Flash MX is fine, but I downloaded the trial for MX 2004 and that happened.
Also, other applications now have similar effects. After effects for example:

I am working on presentation when ever I creat exe file my antivirus program shows that this exe file contains w33.Pinfi virus.
This antivirus detects that all exe files (made from flash) contains this types of virus.
Can anybody tell me that what type of this virus is which attacks flash made exe files only?

Macromedia Could Open the Door to a Trojan
A Macromedia customer has uncovered a new technique for embedding malicious code in Flash files. Using an undocumented feature in the Flash 5 authoring tool, the customer, going by the pseudonym "Vengy," found it was possible to create a Flash movie Trojan that would, when viewed using the stand-alone Flash player, place a malicious script on a viewer's computer. Vengy posted the new flaw in an advisory on the Web this week accompanied by a harmless demonstration.
According to Vengy, Flash 5 supports an undocumented ActionScript command called fscommand:save that enables Flash developers to save the main timeline variables of a movie to a file. The demonstration showed how the "save" command could be used to create a batch program on the hard disk of a Flash standalone player after a user had viewed a film containing the Trojan code. In the demonstration, the Trojan program executed when the victim rebooted his or her computer.
A Macromedia representative has said the company released an updated version of its standalone Flash player on Monday, and that the "save" feature would be removed from future versions of the player.
Neither the new vulnerability nor the one reported in January by Kaspersky Lab affects the millions of users of Macromedia's browser-based Flash plug-in or ActiveX control. Those players do not have access to special commands, and Flash files played back through a browser are secure, according to Macromedia.

Broken Links - Flash Virus?
I have made a flash website for my band, I taught myself how to use flash so some of the methods may seem strange. However, upon completing the site all of the links from frame to frame and scene to scene have become messed up - if i click a button that is supposed to take me to a certain frame, it takes me to a completely different one. I have no idea whats causing this, all the actionscript seems correct. Is there such a thing as a flash virus? Please help me!!!

I've received an email with a flash file attach, after I opened it my computer became too slow. So, I've run the free scanning process available in a site called "Infectedornot.com" and it found the SWF/LFM.926 virus, does anybody know it?

Virus Prevent On Royalties 4 ECards Site
Hi, We built a site that lets users upload Flash eCards and earn royalties when they are sent. We set the code in the site to have actionsciptenabled=false. I believe this will prevent the geturl command from running, does it also prevent any action script from running?
What is the best way to prevent viruses from running through unscreened flash files uploaded by our users?

[MX04] Yeah Very Funny - I Call It A Virus
This is a weird one. Hired a sub contractor to do some flash work before I started using it myself. He mis quoted a project and got mad at ME because he had to honor his lowball quote... long story short I got the .fla file from him and he has embedded some kind of script into the file that pops up the message "hire another developer if you don't like... bla bla". Yeah that's so clever and amusing and MATURE. Now whenever I try to edit the .fla file flash is giving me this message:
A script in this movie is causing Flash Player to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive. Do you want to abort the script? This does not show up in the exported movie, just pops up when I open it in flash. Bizarre.
Well of course I looked everywhere a newbie would to find it and the only scripts I can find are stops in the movie clips. Can someone find it and tell me how to delete it or at least tell me where else to look? I wouldn't care if it were harmless, but it's now classified as a virus since it's hurting my system's ability to run this file.

Bought CS3 But Haven't Read My MX Actionscript, MX2004, Books. Should I Read Them?
I just bought CS3 and I am now debating whether I should read my Flash MX Actionscript bible, Flash 2004 Bible. I should have read them, but It's just hard to fit the time in.
Would I benefit from reading these books when CS3 is Actionscript 3? How much functionality is lost when scripting in Actionsript 2 and 1 as compared to Actionscript 3.
Would it be wiser for me to just learn Actionscript 3 properly and get a book on Actionscript 3 than waste my time on reading old scripting and technology?
Also is MC tween compatible on CS3, actionscript 3.

Ok I Have Read And Read, But I Am Getting No Where. Please For The Love Of God Help
Ok I have developed an interactive map, by which the user clicks a button and information pops up into the dynamic box taking this from nodes in my XML file.
The client has requested the availability in typing information into the dynamic box (area), so really I need to change this into an input box, fine.
But then to click a save button, for the xml file to be passed the information, thus next time the information is presented on click of a button, as many buttons are applied to many nodes in the xml tree, i.e cw1, cw2, cw3 and so on.
I CANNOT DO IT!
I stress this because I am at my end, its taking me ages to get the data into a flash window from each node, and there are many. But now I am attempting to undertake the impossible. I have looked at tutorials from sencular, who really does know his stuff, but cannot do it.
It would be really kind if someone could help me for a simple approach dispite it not being simple as I dont have much time, and I am rushed.
So I am in desperate need right about now, so please help me.
So my aim is for the client to input data into the area after clicking a button, as currently I just have bogus text in each field, but they will be able to overwrite this in real time.
I am sure that asp, xml and flash are required to achieve this, thats fine, but I need help.
Tell me with it being an internal thing could we pass the information in holding into a secondr swf file.?
This is not for the internet, but an internal intra net.

Ive found a website host that suports .php and custom .cgi and get this they offer free web space and free domain name hosting. I created a e-mail form in flash for my site yesterday only to find out my host didn't suport any of the above files and whats better when i upload my files now to the new host i don't have to be connected with them. So no more premium call cost like i use to have. Im so happy i thought i would share it with you guys.

Could anyone please tell me how to add html files to the counties buttons. For example have the button for London launch London.html when it is clicked, and still highlight when the mouse it over it. I can only seem to make it launch an html file by changing the button to a graphic file and adding an action to it, it doesnt let me add actions to buttons???

Okay, I'm doing this project and trying to make it as dynamic as possible when I run into a problem I'm using the Tween class and I'm using numbers out of an array read from xml as the start and end points in the tween. All of a sudden the text starts to blink while going across the screen. So I start boiling down the code to get to the problem. Problem is, Tween blinks when you give it the values stored in an array. Try out the code below. Am I crazy or is this a bug?
In order to use this you have to have a font in the library with a linkage of VERDANA

I'm going to try it now without using a texfield made in actionscript, but I don't know if that will help. If it doesn't, I'll use tweener, a more awesome tween engine than Tween anyway. Please post back and let me know if it glitches for you.

I have a xml driven video player. When you load a flv into it, it plays fine, then if I load another in, it works great.
The problem is , that if one link is wrong, if i try to go back and load a working link in, it sticks and wont load it.

ok i have a folder called "main" that contains the file "MainLoader.as", I want to load another .swf file located here main/gallery/Gallery.swf, why I try to load this swf with this url: gallery/Gallery.as, it says url not found, however if i move the Gallery.swf into the same directory as MainLoader.as and try this url Gallery.swf, it loads it fine, why won't it load Gallery.swf when inside a different directory than the loader
FOUND BUG : WATCH THIS
Okay let me tell you the BUG i found (Lot's of hours wondering where this mysterious MC's came from!!!):
Flash internally names Buttons a "instanceXX"
XX would be a free Number avaible to Flash...
This 'instance' has got one real BUG .. it points to the MC it is contained in... so be carefull on recursiv walk...
this will crash the projector (endless loop).
EXAMPLE TO DEMONSTRATE
(put this in a MC that contains other MC's and Buttons)

My idear why this is so:
I think macromedia did this to use a standard MC and tweak it to the Button-functionality we know...
So know they tweaked the standard MC they want to keep us out... they reference to the _parent!!!!

How can I use "Target Not Found" in Flash 5?
I've got a large site that is dynamically loading smaller .swfs, .xml documents, etc. I'm building pre-loaders for these files and am trying to deal with the possibility that a file I'm trying to load may not be found (perish the thought!) I know that Flash knows immediately when the file isn't found, because (when testing my movie) I can see the error message displayed in my Output window. Only problem is, I can't seem to find any documentation for using this information in a meaningful way.
Right now, the best I can think of is a timed loop (i.e. if it's been five seconds and percentage loaded <= 1, goTo...)
Oh, as a sidebar, Flash seems to return a value of 4 bytes loaded even when no file is found (which is why I'm setting my loop above to "<=1" instead of zero). Any idea why?

why do moveClip _name's change when i change the _root frame number???
best thing to do to quickly understand this problem is to look at the .fla and check the instance names on both frames, then check the .swf, and check what names you get in the textfields... it is weird alright...

Target Not Found?
ok im using this button to geth this movie clip to play, which has a stop action in frame one so i used the following code on the button
on (release) {
tellTarget ("pictures") {
gotoAndPlay (2);
}
}
but that gives me the error
Target not found: Target="pictures" Base="_level0"
pictures is teh name of the MC
what am i doing wrong??

this is a continuation of my previous post "still having target problems"
(i'm using flash 5)
i've got my intro movie playing and the button coming up. the button, that is, that i want to click on and take me to scene 2 where there is another movie.
it all looks like it's going to work and then -
a window now comes up telling me that the target can't be found. it's the only one and i can see it sitting there!! everything is spelled correctly, etc.
the other problem is that this window comes up BEFORE i click the button. i don't have the option to put in the action "on (release)" because it is grayed out. (i'm guessing this is why it automatically plays)

I can not understand why it doesen't works. I've put the swf. which was supposed to be loaded in the correct folder.(The folder wich I created for this project)
I created another movie inside wich I called "text" for loading instead of it the swf. It doesen't work. It gives me this error.The problem is that if I put level instead of target then it plays correctly but I don't know how to place it where I want.It seems that it is put where he feels right.
And the biggest question is..............How come that before I have made the same thing with another swf. and it works. Does Flash not accept 2 actions for loadmovie in the same scene?
404 Not Found In Flash MX
Say you have a Flash MX BBS where people can upload their photo.
When an image does not exist at the specified URL the output window returns:
Error opening URL "http://www.mysite.com/myphoto.jpg"
This is in test mode in the authoring environment.
In the plugin environment what event can I use to know for sure that the image is not there? ( beside a timeout )

I an IF function in a movie clip which tells a movie clip to do something. the end the second movie clip has an instance called "shade" although when i try to play my movie i get an error saying
Target not found: Target="_root.shade" Base="?"
but all other IFs which tell "shade" to do something manage to find it, when i deleted "shade" and try to play it aswell as getting the previous error it also kept saying over and over
Target not found: Target="_root.shade" Base="_level0.instance59"
which is weird because atleast that knows what the Base is
is there any script that i can add to tell that IF what the base is?

I'm trying to make a button that causes some words to fade in on cursor rollover, and the words fade out when the cursor leaves. So I made 2 MovieClips of the words, one with alpha tween 0 to 100 (named pfadein), another with alpha tween 100 to 0 (named pfadeout). And put stop actions at the 1st frame and last for both.
Then I made my button and added this actionscript to it:

Then I dragged the button and MCs onto the stage, but when I tested it, and when I moved my cursor over the button, this window pops out telling me "Target Not Found".
Is there something wrong with my actionscript or something else?

I figured out after an embarassing number of hours that if a MC has an onRelease event handler attached to it, any MC's within the same area will not activate a rollOver event.
I'm all set now. I had to restructure my code.
