Flash :: News Room Clocks?

Flash Zoom Effect From Room To Room?
I want to make flash create a zoom effect from one room to another. In other words, I want the zoom to go from outside a building, into the door, down a hallway, into another room. Can this be done by just creating several graphic images and put the zoom blur on it and import them as graphics? Would it take more space up if I just tweened one graphic upwards? Either way I see a deterioration of the graphic image. How can I increase the size of the image without destroying the integrity of the photo's pixels?

Card Game (turn-based) - Lobby Room And Game Room, Maintain State
Hi all, I´m new in this forum, since now i appreciate for any help.

I´m developing a turn-based card game in Flash 8 (multiplayer), using the concepts of lobby and room. In this case when the user login de game, he always see the lobby, where he can choice the games, then the user selects a game in a dataGrid and enter the game.

Inside the game (that resides in another frame in my .fla), there is a button that when clicked brings de users to the main lobby ( gotoAndStop(“lobby”) ) so that the user can visualize the lobby with the game running in background with the others users.
The problem is when the user return to the game ( gotoAndStop(“game”) ), the images, cards, players name and chat history text disappear, all the game object disappear, remaining only the original graphics (movie clips) to the game room.
In fact, I need a solution to maintain the state of the game when the user decide to visualize the lobby (with the game running) and after return to the game.

I have read all the tutorials but i dont understand why it shows it 1 hour behine the actuall time..

ive built a clock in flash with one layerwith the clock face. It has four libary items 3 are just the hands. The forth is a clock mvie clip with the following code:

This works fine as it a tutorial from this site but i need it to be editable by clicking a + and - hours button and a + and - minutes button. does anyone know how to do this?

I'm making a new site that's time oriented. I've found around 15 or so flash clocks that need someone to go inside them and reset to 12 hours cycles (non-military) and add my logo.

[CS3] Count UP Clocks?
I'm searching for a way to make a count up clock (based in another timezone) that shows a specific day (i.e. Day 1) and when it ends on a specific day an event is triggered which causes the movie to display differently.

I've found stuff for countdown clocks, but nothing for count up ones.

Non-Military Clocks
Hello Everyone,

This is my first post on the entire board, so I would like to start off by saying it is nice meeting you all. I am 18 and new at this flash actionscript stuff. I have done Javascript and DHTML, so hopefully this will help me learn Actionscript a little easier. First problem I had with Actionscript is that no one ever seems to have a tutorial for making a Non-Military Time digial clock. I didn't look too hard, but I couldn't find one, so I decided to be on my own and make one. Well, I made one that worked, which is good.

I wrote a tutorial on it in case anyone wants to read it. It is the first tutorial I have ever written in my life, it doesn't have example pictures yet, but I am working on it. There is an example of what I am talking about at the end of page.

Multiple City Clocks
I'm creating a header, which requires several international times. [Header found here]. The first clock seems to work fine. The problem is with the other clocks. I can't figure out what numbers to use in place of the 30. [hours = hours*30;]

Here is the code for the clock that seems to work fine.

time=new Date(); // time object
minutes = time.getMinutes()
hours = time.getHours()

hours = hours + (minutes/60);

minutes = minutes*6; // calculating minutes
hours = hours*30; // calculating hours

min._rotation=minutes; // giving rotation property
hour._rotation=hours; // giving rotation property

Problems With Lower Cpu Clocks

I'm facing problems when running my web project at lower cpu clocks (below 1000 MHz) - and I would like to know if anybody knows the reason for that.. and if exist a proper way to solve it (without changes on the computer - .. )

Multiple Clocks With Different Time Zones
Hey all,

How would i go about making 5 different clocks, each with a different time zone? i want to have one for boston, san francisco, arizona, chicago, and tokyo. the only problem i can forsee is that since the clock corresponds to the user's computer, they may get messed up. (chicago is 1 hour earlier than boston, arizona is 2 hours earlier than boston, san francisco is 3 hours earlier than boston, and tokyo is 10 hours slower than boston). thanks in advance for all you help!

Setting Clocks To Server Time
Hey there! I'm a new user to Flash...spent most of my free time pounding the keys writing html script, this is sooo much easier....and have a few problems! I have developed a 470x60 "banner" that incorporates nine analog clocks that show local times for the following cities:

Tokyo, Beijing,Islamabad,Moscow,London,Sao Paol, New York, Mexico City and Seattle.

The movie not only adjusts for daylight savings time where applicable, but also shows nightfall as it tracks across the planet.

How Can I Create A Button That Changes Time On Animated Clocks.
I am creating a resource for children to help them understand time zones around the world, and analogue and digital displays.

I need to have two clocks, one with an hour hand and minute hand, and one a digital clock. I want to have two buttons, one called 'back' and one called 'forward' that advance/reduce the time. So if I clicked on 'back' 3 times the clock hands/digital display will move to display the time 3 hours behind the original time.

How could I do this? I presume I would need to change the angle of the hands on the analogue clock by 30 degrees each press. Can this be done with a button press?

Even re-reading this message it strikes me as quite a complicated problem, but if anyone can help me I'm sure you are on Flashkit forum!

I have just been looking at this site.

If you go into the section where it says "good news - bad news" there is a piece of work that I think is very clever.

Any ideas on how this was created? I would very much like to have something similar in a project that I am working on - somewhere that users can post pictures and a little line of copy to go with it.

Good News Bad News --- Help
The bad news is, my computer just crashed. The good news is I have everything backed up on another computer....except 2 Flash small movies that I've almost completed. I do have them on another computer, but only as .EXE files, not as .FLA or .SWF

Is there any way to convert the .EXE back to a .FLA so I can work on them or am I screwed and have to start all over?

One of the 2 movies has been uploaded to the web, as an .HTML and as a .SWF Is there anyway these will help me?

Going Into Another Room

Pan Across Room
Hi

I am trying to create an interface that shows the inside of a room. I want the user to be able to move the mouse over the room and the room will pan left and right or up and down to show other areas of the room.

I have created an image that is bigger than the stage and placed a mask on the stage so that a section of the room shows through. I have managed to get the room to follow the movement of the mouse but if I leave the mouse in one direction then the whole room image keeps on scrolling and eventually it moves across the stage and out of sight.

I need to know how to restrict the room image movement so that it stops following the mouse direction once the edges of the room reach the edge of the mask.

Help With Loading Flash Page Loading Clocks

ROOM DECORATOR
Right then all you clever guys out there

Im trying to do a flash site which is to show diferent paint and i would like to create a room painter so the viewer can paint a room how they want it to see what the colours would look like on walls and floors etc.....

I thought the easiest way of doing it would just be to have colours on different layers and turn them on and off but there are neerly 300 colours which i dont have the time scale to do also i wanna use the same colours and apply them to diferent room plans

any ideas how i could do this........?

Also does anyone know any sites that have "room painters" i can look at and see how others may have done it

Design Your Own Room
Are there any applications out there in which the user interacts with graphical elements? Something that allows a user to select a product. In my clients case interior finish products (e.g., carpet, fabric), put them onto a white board, and then manipulate the objects - e.g., dynamically change the size of the swatch, layer products on top of others, add text, etc.

Something like 'design your own room' kind of style. I am sure there must be something in that direction allready?!

PLEASE HELP .php Chat Room
I have set up a chat room with PHP and its not working. It works fine when its on the main timeline, but when I put it inside a MC thats inside a MC it doesen't post the messages. It writes the message in the .txt file fine, but it doesn't post it in the Flash dynamic text where all of the posts go. ARG!!!!!

In another words, how do I set up a chat room that was originally set up to for the _root level (main timeline). Here is the PHP script that is suppose to load the .txt info.:

[F8] Interactive 3d Room?
**UTTER NEWBIE QUESTION ALERT**

Hi, as a complete newbie I have unrealistic expectations of what I would like to achieve but here's my aim anyway;

I would like to create an interactive 3d room. Not real 3d, more like the pre-rendered point and click style used "escape the room" style games, Crimson Room being the perfect example.

I would like to be able to zoom in/pan around the room in the same way.

Interactivity wise I want to be able to open drawers, books and cupboards etc with keys found within the room and kept in a simple inventory, no combination of items needed.

I've hunted around for tutorials and found a few;

OK, so I've followed a tutorial on how to build a simple chat client, but it's way too basic for what I'm trying to do.

I want to build a chat room that recognizes users profile statisitics and displays them with a profile picture in the corner of the chat box.

Also would like to throw in webcam cababilities.

Does anyone know where I can dig up some advanced tutorials or books for this? All the literature shows how to set up the "simple" chat client.
