Flash :: Offline Rich Multimedia Presentation: Flash Or Shockwave?

Flash Multimedia Presentation
Hi

I need to create a multimedia presentation that is able to link to and open pdf files and powerpoint files.
Is it posible to have these files open in a viewer, such as powerpoint viewer?
The presentations will have video and audio. This will be published onto dvd for PC, will have an auto run.
Will flash have the same stability as Director? I do not want to use an external program such as MDM zinc, everything will have to be done in flash, with a flash exe. I know how to link FLVs and use the getURL scrip to open files. I just need advice on what the proper workflow for this will be, and what the best way of doing this is.

Multimedia Presentation... What Would You Use
Hello all,

I have this multimedia presentation to do and I definitely don't want to use power point..

So I thought about flash... or maybe director...

But I would prefer flash since I don't know director.

Can a flash movie be controlled by a wireless remote controller? Forwarding, rewinding or pausing the presentation as needed...

Some video will be involved too, would you still use flash?

Has anybody done this before? What are your advices? Would you use flash or director... or something else?

A Multimedia Presentation
I am making a multimedia presentation for a high-school competition, and I thought to make it in flash. Is there another way of making it completely interactive?
Anyway, I think I'll do it in flash. The real question is – should I load external swf to the main file, or just load movie clips (it will have about 30 pages)? What should be the button code for loading an external one?

Full-screen Multimedia Presentation?
I've created a 550 X 400 Flash movie to be burned onto a CD. I already know how to use the "autorun" file. How do I get the movie to project centered full-screen? More specifically, I would like the movie to play in the middle of a white background, rather than as a Flash projector window on the screen.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Multimedia Application W/ Presentation: 10 Days
To make a long story short, I am working on a Flash Multimedia presentation. Basically, I want to create an application with a start menu, and each of these pages going to a powerpoint-type presentation (created in Flash also). I have given myself 10 days to do this in, as I have other commitments other than this assignment.

Do you think it's possible for someone with little Flash experience to create this in 10 days? I have Flash resources to rely on, and I'm fairly familiar with the Flash MX interface. Designing the interface in Photoshop shouldn't be a problem at all.

A Multimedia Presentation Featuring Synchronized Audio And Slides
Besides Flash (I think flash can do this), what other alternatives are out there to accomplish the same thing and are easier to use.

Multimedia Prez In Flash
hi, my name is darkefire, and i am new to flash.
thank you.

i need to create a multimedia presentation that combines:

1 - a short story
2 - detailed, hi rez still images
3 - over an hour of music

its basically going to look like the opening credits to a high budget anime film, and put on CDrom for publicity/distribution, or an animated website. i have a chance to try a couple of different programs to put it all together. Premiere, Lightwave, PowerPoint, and Flash. I have little to no experience with any of those (work primarily in Photoshop), and would like to know which i should best start pursuing tutorials and stuff in.

its a personal project. no big corporate sponsorship.

Flash MX Commands With Multimedia Builder?

Iâ€™m quite new to Multimedia Builder (the version Iâ€™m using now is 4.9.01). I would like to make some presentation in Flash MX then attach/ embed it to MMB.
The Flash file has some buttons, when clicked it will lead to certain HTML pages:
for example: button1 for page1.html, button2 for page2.html â€¦etc
I would like to have ONLY TWO pages in MMB, the first page loads the Flash animation then when we click a Flash button ( no matter whatever it may be), we shall reach the SECOND MMB PAGE which loads the appropriate HTML page: I.e. button1 for page1.html, button2 for page2.html â€¦etc
I have applied the Flash command : â€œget ULRâ€ but it opens a new window and leads to that page on the Browser WITHOUT closing the first MMB page.
In brief, I would like to ask you, in this case, HOW TO use Flash Action Script to control the MMB project to get the desired purpose.

Help - Transparent Flash Ads ? - Rich-media
Hi - I am trying to figure out how to make flash ads that appear over html pages and then disappear after played, like yahoo and many other sites often have on their main pages. I know that when Publishing the movie, it needs to set be set to window=transparent, but not much else beyond that. Ideally I would like to have the animation play and then completely leave the page. Right now I am using the stop command, so the file is "still there" even after the animation sequence has played. If anyone out there has any tips or links to tutorials it would be greatly apprecaited. There is not much out there that I could find - I believe the style I am looking to create is called rich-media.

Creating A Flash Rich Email
I am constantly getting spam emails from various companies that contain images off the net.

I am trying to encorporate this into an email containing flash, so that when you receive the email, you dont have to visit a site, the animation will play in the email program.

Is this possible, and if so how?

the windmill which i animated is great but where i put the sliced background into flash it seems to have moved (see the distortion on the box and at the very top above the windmill). What can i do????

Rich Text Component And Flash JS Methods
I am using the Rich Text editor component as an editor for a site.

I can on my Cold Fusion page in a JS function using Flash Methods, get the text for it in and out if I use Dynamic text fields in the flash piece but this a serious performance hit on larger text fields.

This is using a temp filed in flash and it works ok but I have to loop through the movie to keep the temp field updated.

Flash XHTML Rich Text Editor
Hi all, I have just about finished writing my RTE (didn't like the ones already out there) and I've come across a snag. If people type too fast (which we all do - lol) the caret position gets moved forward before the previous text insertion has finished. Does anyone have a routine on file to capture keys (if(Key,isDown()) and store them in an array so I can action them in order??

Import Flex Rich Text Editor Into Flash
I have an old project that was using the FTELight component for text editing. I have been updating the code to AS3 but ran into a snag because the component will only run under AS2. I thought maybe I could create a small Flex movie with just a rich text editor and import that swf into Flash. I have been trying to get this working for a little while now and I am not making any progress on my own. I have seen a several posts around the internet suggesting that this is possible, but I have not been able to find any code/insturctions on how to do it.

Stuck On Designing A Rich Text Editor In Flash
Hello all

I am trying to make a simple rich text editor in flash. I have a couple questions:

Firstly, I am using a TextField object of type input as the text input area of the text editor. So I am wondering, in your opinion, what would work best for formatting the text in this field?

-CSS StyleSheet
-TextFormat Object with the built in TextFormat paramaters
-Simple HTML and the htmlText property of the TextField object.

Remember the text will always be changing at the user's whim in the movie, and I am looking for simplicity in applying certain styles to only selected portions of the input text and also setting styles for all future text that is input beyond what is already input (Could be a different style than that of the text already input)

I am currently trying the second option (TextFormat Object), but I am open to any suggestions.

Secondly, I am having a little trouble with the TextFormat Object option. I have a textfield, and a toolbar movieclip (with buttons such as bold, underline, italics, etc) on my stage. I am writing an actionscript class for the toolbar. I want to be able to capture the start index and end index of highlighted text in the textbox, so that say when I press the bold button, the text is bolded or unbolded. I have tried using Selection.getStartIndex() and Selection.getEndIndex() but they have not yet worked for me, as the selection loses focus when I click on the toolbar in the movie. I was hoping there was some sort of onHighlightText handler for the Selection class, so that I can capture the start and end indices whenever text is highlighted. However, there appears to be nothing with that functionality.

Flash For Creating Multimedia Ads Displaying On Plasmas And LCD Monitor Not Wed Based
Our company creates multimedia advertisements for our clients. Basically a 30 sec. commercial/Advertisemet that will be displayed on plasmas and different size LCD Monitors in different locations.

My question I guess is if anyone also does something like this and where can i find info? Resolution, how/if it scales to these screens? As much as I search online I only find info for web-based use. Maybe director is a better way to go?? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I'm a Mac user using OS9.2.2 and a few months ago had to replace the hard drive on the Mac. This caused me to have to upgrade my flash player to Flash player 6. I had never had any problem surfing the net with Flash player 5. About an hour after I start up my computer I now keep getting this annoying error box that says,

Not enough memory to open the plug-in Shockwave flash NP-PPC. Allocating more memory to Internet Explorer may help.

I have allocated to IE the minimum memory to 3075488k and my perferred is 3259700k and that is the max memory my computer will allow me to allocate to IE and I still keep getting the annoying error box. Could anyone give me some ideas please? Oh yea I'm using IE 5.0
