Old Film Effect
I want to do a flash move, and I want to use the effect of looking at an old film (Where there are some line, and old little freckels on the film) and I dont know how to do this in flash mx, can anyone help? Please let me know if i need to post a better discritption of what i want.

Old Film Reel Effect
How can I do an old fashion film effect with scratches, the number countdown, and maybe even the sound of it all too? Is there a tutorial out there that will help? I am not sure if it would have to be a separate movie loaded on top of the main movie I want to show though.
Making An Old Film Effect
Ive seen fla downloads on this site for old film effects, but none of which are usable. I am trying to create an old film effect i can apply to my whole fla file. I want it to be able to go over everyt frame, but do not know how to create such effect. If anyone could point me in the right direction or fill me in on how to create a random (squiggly line..lol) across certain x and y coordinates that would be great. Thank you, Jeff.

Old School Film Effect
I'm looking for a starting point for a simple effect...
That is, to have a Class that would control some scratches, burns, blips, dots, etc, etc to have the 'movie' on question appear to be an old film.
Did a bit of digging here but didn't find anything.

My question is this...
In the tutorial she says to use a black background, but the example she is using is an image, and I want to do that to an image just as they have in thier example. Anyway, in the intructions there is no mention of the image itself, just the grainy animation ...Help

I'm looking for a rocking film grain effect. I've seen the one on KIRUPA, but I'm looking for one that uses more actionscript.
Has anyone found a great FLA (mx) or tutorial on how to do one that looks more natural and is AS driven.

Special Effect Help: Film Blur?
I am trying to figure out how to create an effect of a film blur similar to the one used in Saving Private Ryan. I think it is done with a film camera by opening up the shutter, you can see the frame lines going through as the movie plays. I would like to do this in flash but with a transition effect. Does anyone know what I am talking about, if there is a tutorial out there or have any guidelines for this kind of effect?

Burn Holes In Film - Effect
Does anyone know where I could go to get more information on how to do this type of effect in flash? I'm trying to do an animation where the scene transitions from one frame to the next with the look of holes being burnt through like film. Thanks.
How To Combine Film Grain Effect And Photo Gallery

Well, I'm brand-spanking new to this forum but I just wanted to say that just from browsing through tutorials and the message board, I've found a lot of great ideas. Thanks for the instructions and the creative input.
What I was interested in doing was to have a photo gallery on my site but overlaying the film grain effect on each image. So, in effect, I wanted to combine the "Film Grain" tutorial with the "Create a Photo Gallery" tutorial that are on the home page.
I'm also getting Output errors when I test the photo gallery FLA. So, if anyone has any advice on any of the above it would be greatly appreciated.

I'd like to ask a very basic question. I made a film which I wanted to be the size of a standard screen-say 800x600. When I viewed the film in Dreamweaver or in Flash- the page had a white border (about 1/4 inch), which I don't want. How do I avoid this border? Also if I have a photo background for a flash movie of 800x600 and I want the whole picture to be viewed on an regular size screen how do I go about this? I have made smaller Flash films so it's not been a problem until now. Now I have, for instance, a navigation page of less than 800x600 and some of the buttons are cut off and have to be scrolled to- which I really don't want! Can anyone tell me what to do?

Music In The Whole Film
Dear FlashHeads,
I have created a very nice interface to be assembled and finished in Director with a few other film formats. I would like to place a music track as background music on my flash movie...
This music is to be played in low volume as long as the user has the movie running.
from what Iv'e heard in these forums is that the sprite/frames have to be as long as the music or sound file... The music is 12 minutes long and it would be rediculous to extend that many keyframe..
Is there another way of placing background music withought having to extend the sprite/frames to the length of the music ??

Film Countdown - How Would You Do It?

I'm making a website that has a "theater" theme to it. So when the page loads I want something that looks like the old film leader countdowns.

Anyway, I've got everything working, but cannot not for the life of me figure out how to make the part that goes around (usually with a slightly different color) to act as the timer, so to speak.
I don't even know how to begin doing this in ActionScript, but I have tried Frame by Frame animation. I keep running into a problem getting the circle to keep dividing, so I can get enough to where it doesn't look "choppy".
My idea is that if I have enough "wedges" for my circle it will look smooth enough. My method has been to draw a circle, then a line. Align the two, which then gives me 2 sections. I copy, paste, rotate 90, the line and now have 4. Copy, paste, rotate 45, both lines and now have 8 sections. But It refuses to go any further.
I try selecting the lines, copy, paste, rotate 22.5, which gives me the lines in the right place, but I still only get 8 sections. They don't divide anymore. I actually need to get about 32 for it to even start to look smooth.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Button In Film Sequence
Hi all,
I've been sitting on it for hours & hours ...
Putting an instance of a button in frame 1 of the timeline telling it to go to frame 2 upon click with "go to and stop" works perfectly.
Putting an instance of the same button with the same actionscript into a film sequence, then putting an instance of the film sequence in frame 1 doesn't get me to frame 2 upon click in the swf.
I need to have the button in a film sequence. Is there a way to do it?

Flash Film Site
I have a specific film project that I’m working on and am looking for a web template to match. We are raising money and support for a epic feature film so I’m looking for a flash template as starting from scratch sound too difficult. Think Lord of the Rings or Troy the movie promo websites. I have KoolMoves and the Macromedia Suite. What would be the best way of going about this? Should I start from scratch or try and find a template? I have html experience but no flash skills.

Perhaps I could use Flash Favorite 1.4.7 to snag a cool idea online and then use a program like FlashDigger Plus to edit it, change it and make it mine. I'm not sure, but since I’m on a tight schedule I need to save time.
Film Strip Gallery
I was wondering if someone could help me develop a film strip similar to the website www.gtrproto.com where there is a film strip of thumbnails and when you click on them a larger image shows up above it. The film strip also hopefully can move left or right according to where the mouse is placed. I have done a thumbnail strip before but with a scroller bar, but now sure how to do it otherwise.

I seem to be having problems with transitioning the slides in then pausing and then transitioning them out bringing in the next slide simultaniously.
I am relatively new to actionscripting but I want to get my teeth into it.
Has anyone had any experience in mx.transitioning?

[F8] Using Music In Flash... For A Film
In flash 8, I want to make a film. But it is hard to coordinate the movie with the music because:
When I added the music, I can only start it when I go to the start of that frame.
When I start the music, It plays even when I stop, and stops when I Ctrl + Enter and close.
So how can I get my music into flash so when I click enter anywhere in the movie.. it will start that part of the music. And when I click enter to stop, the music actuallu stops...

How To Make This Film Roll?
I made this film in 3d, (3d Max + Mental Ray) and I want to make it roll...
For the moment, I rendered each frames (100) separatly and I add all of them in Flash for the animation. But, 100 frames at 7ko each, it is really too big. So, do you have a trick to make it?
I thought at Swift3d, but I think you can't have a kind of render in swift, I think you can only have simple texture, etc.

Make One Film Load The Next One
hi folks,
could you please help me with the following:
i want to start a movie and when it is over another one from the same directory shall follow.
the problem is that these things didn't work:
1: i made a container loading the first movie into level one, that worked fine. at the end of the film in level one i put a script to load the next one in level one. that didn't work.
2: i made a container with a movieclip called MCPlatzhalter and the first film was loaded into this movieclip. at the end of the clip in MCPlatzhalter i put a script to load the next movie in MCPlatzhalter. didn't work either.
3: (without container) i told every movie at the end to load the next movie into level 0.
guess what... didn't work!
is there a way to solve my problem?
or if you at least know that one of the "solutions" above should actually work, please tell me so.

Load Swf Into Film Exported As .exe
hi folks,
i tried to export a container as exe-file and then load several swfs into it as i thought that once there is a player there should be a possibility to load the films into it but i experienced that that wasn't possible.
is there a way to do something like that for users without flashplayer?

Vars To Control A Film
Hi everybody.Hope you can help.
here's my dylemma. I have a base swf where i load two more.one is a menu and the other is the content of each section. one of that sections is a news one, and i link the swf to an .asp to publish my news. In that asp, i have the menu with the "news" section marked. and i want to link to the first html where the original menu is, and send it a variable to control wich section i am in. the menu is loaded in the first frame of the base and in the level 2. i've tried to create a var in the base and use it to control the menu but it doesn't work, i don't know why.

Problems With Fitting A Flash Film In A

When you click enter a popup window with the flash film appears. So far so good.
BUT it won't fit the screen excactly and I have no idea if it is in the html, the javascript or the flash film I need to do something or what to do
Only the Episode 1 - fra A-B link works yet (still not done at all - only uploadet a bit to test)
Anyone has any idea what the problem can be?
I can provide any of the code you need but for now don't know what to write down here.

Making Your Flash Film Ready For The Web
Hi! I've made a flash film that I want to upload to my website. I want it to be locked at a certain size so that it runs at the correct speed (i't s a music video so it's very important). Further, I would like to add a "loading screen" and a "play button". And also make it stop when the film is over instead of looping it.
I guess this is pretty simple stuff, but can anyone give me a hint in the right direction? Would be very happy. =)

Passing A Variable To The Main Film
hello,
i am loading a swf into my main movie using the loadMovie command. now i want my main movie to stop whilst the laoded movie is paying and once the loaded movie has reached a certain position, i want my main film to go to lets say frame x.
i tried defining a variable in my loaded swf

and then in the main film

but it doesnt seem to work at all, what am i doing worng
