Hi, I'm using flash to create an exe file for a cd. From the exe file I'd like to open a pdf file externally. I got it to work but the pdf opens behind the main exe file. Any help is greatly appreciated.

How can i open a file (.doc, .pdf, etc) that a i put in a cd with the swf or projector, within the flashplayer? It seem this can;t be do it with fscommand exec because only launch .exe
or wher can i grab a copy of Flash Command Line Tools v5.0 the official web page seems outdated

when i test my flash file, i would like to click a button that opens an external flash file, i don't want the external swf file to load into my other swf, i just want it to open in a separate window.
Oh i also want to open it up in the main time lime, without using a movie clip to do it.
If anyone could help, me i would really appreciate it because i'm totally confused right now lol.

Open An External Flv Or Swf File?
I'm building an entire site in Flash, and on the rollover buttons, when a user clicks a button, I want a small pop-up window to appear (outside of the flash index page) that is a flv player OR a swf that has a control bar. I want the pop-up window to be a definite size, say 430px X 350px.
I've tried getURL, but that opens up a new html window the same size as the original index page.
Any ideas and suggestions?

How Do You Open External File Types?
I have created a button that I want users to click on to open a PDF (assuming the user has acrobat), and another button to open a .mpg file in the users default media player. How is this done? Please help.

Im creating a projector that needs to open PDFs and MPGs on their own software (acrobat & media player). I tried using "geturl" but obviously it didnt work.

What do i need to do to have the projector open the file from Media player or Acrobat!!!???

[CS3] Getting PHP Vars & Using To Open External SWF File
Im fairly new to actionscripting. Basically im trying to use a PHP defined variable in a URL...

...to define through actionscript in an SWF file which external SWF file to play. Im at a loss on how to take a PHP defined variable into flash let alone utilize it to grab the correct SWF and play it.

Ive found odds and ends tidbits of AS coding but i don't know enough to know how to alter and apply it.

Any help is greatly appreciated, let me know if you need any clarification as to what im trying to do.

HELP Making An External File Open With Flash
OK, all I want to do is open a movie file (as a seperate Application) from a flash link. I already know how to motivate a movie clip and put it in Flash, I just want to be able to open an external file, I have tried using FScommand it does not seem to work. I also could settle for linking to a "LOCAL" html Page, but it seems I can only link to the web. Can anyone help?

I've done everything I can think of and looked all over, does anyone have any idea of how I can open an external file like a .doc or .pdf form the standalone flash exe projector.

Someone sent msg that I have to have a subfolder on the cd however, they wasn't sure how to call it.

So.. i have read the tutorial about the tree component, but when i click on one node in the tree menu, it show me only what i do in the text area.
I have modified the xml file:

But i can't open the file when i link it from the menu.
I think the problem is on the Action Script.

Open Windows Explorer And Make External File In Front Of Flash Proyektor.
I have to problem with my proyektor file.

1. when I open external file (pdf file with .bat file to run it), the adobe acrobat run under the flash proyektor windows so I can see the acrobat reader before I quit the flash proyektor.

I need to make the acrobat reader run in front of flash proyektor. It seem the flash proyektor have "always on top" command.

2. How can I open windows explorer from flash? Is there any actionscript for this?

Using An Open Button To Open A File

OK everything is good, now i just need it to save when you exit, so how do i do that?

Im trying to make a program that manages short cuts so if you have to many short cuts on your desktop you can just delete them and put there file extension in the text box, and then push open so the file opens.

I dont know what action script to put in the open1 button(its actually defined as a movie clip) and what variable to put in the text1 text box.

There are 7 text boxes and 7 open buttons.

text1-------open1
text2-------open1
and ect.

And if possible i want it where you can also put in website addresses and it goes to those for you to.

I also want it to save the text you put in so next time you open the program, the file extension you put in is still there

I have a MX6 projector file and a button in it that is supposed to launch another projector file. This whole thing will be running from a CDrom. No matter what I do, I cannot open the second projector??!!

I have used the fscommand's (attached to the button):

Launching File With BAT Files Format..how To Make The File Open Faster?
Tried to launch Powerpoint Presentation from flash. But seem to have various speed in terms of how the powerpoint is start. And also sometime the BAT file failed to intiate the launch on the first click.

I would like to be able to open a file after it downloads using File.reference. Has anybody done this? I know when I download files from other sites I am prompted to either save or to open, I would like to be able to do this.

Opening A Swf File Inside An Open Swf File?
Hello,

I am making a game which has ended up being a really large file. I split the game into 5 separate swf files. Presently, I am calling up the next swf file by using this script on a button:

loadMovieNum("Game Quiz.swf",1);

Where Game Quiz.swf is the name of the file being opened.

There is a problem to this, however, as the information from the previous file is not retained (i.e. visible mc's that were invisible until the player obtained them). I was wondering if somehow I could do the same thing but have the actionscript transfer over to the next swf file.

i have main.swf that have 3 external swf each one have their own movieclip and i want that when the user click a button in a external movieclip, open secciones.swf up of main.swf

i use this actions in the external menu:

But that dont work, the external movieclip and the others stay, and never came out the main.swf

I'm not an expert on actionscript, so my question is probably easy to answer.

In my main flashfile I want to have a button that opens a swf that is placed in the same folder on my computer. So when you push the button the external swf will open in a separate window. Can anyone help me with this?
