Flash :: Opera N Mozilla Doin Fishy Biz

Mozilla 1.3a & Opera 6.05
Okay, on one section of my website I have a mx compressed swf with no problems in either mozilla or opera. On another page I have a mx compressed swf that locks every time in mozilla, and locked the first time in opera, but worked after shutting the opera browser off and back on.

The swf with the problem, stops on the first frame. It loads in mozilla, runs some background animation (about 1 second) and then locks up. All buttons stop working and the animation( just text ) disappears. Except on Opera, it locks up but the text stays. It's not anytype of advanced animation or anything, very very basic.

I am opening the pages on a W2K sp3 machine all default. All browsers are set to default. I did a search here but couldn't locate any threads, any ideas? btw, works perfectly in IE6 & NN7.02.

P.S. I hate Opera , does anyone actually use this browser? If all my pages work flawlessly in IE and NN, should I even waste time on browsers that could not even exist tommorow?

External SWF Won't Start In Opera, Mozilla

I have encountered a weird problem with Flash 8 and Opera and Mozilla.

I have a main swf, which sets up a number of container swfs. I then load external swf files to these containers. Pretty normal stuff.

One of the extrernal swf files is an embedded flash video file. The weird thing about it is that it works OK in Internet Explorer, but won't start at all in Opera or Mozilla. Even if I specifically wait for the video container to load the video, and then tell it to play, nothing happens. All the other swfs loaded into the containers work normally. I have an event handler attached to the video container, so I know the video file has loaded, but the damn thing won't start playing!

Has anybody else had this problem?

Problem With Mc.onRelease And Opera/Mozilla

Here, I made a page http://www.salons.lv/lndex.htm. In section "Produkti" there are a lots of images wich when pressed open a popup window with large image.
Everything works fine ... in IE but not in Opera or Mozilla.

Cannt understand wheres the problem bcouse all other buttons are also assigned button behavour with mc.onRelease=function(){....}.
Maybe problem is in fact that those images are loaded dynamicly?

Movie Not Loading In Opera, Mozilla Or Safari...
Hi. Again.

I'm having problems with a site I'm working on - www.humanityonline.co.uk - and different browsers.

At the moment I'm using a Flash movie for navigation which works fine across all the browsers. Elsewhere in the site (under 'latest'), there's a couple of test .swf files that are used to represent episodes which will be uploaded when I finalise the rest of the site.

Here comes the bit that's got me scratching my head - as far as I can see, the code I've used to embed the navigation movie and the code I've used to embed the episode movies are identical, but the episode movies just will not load in Mozilla, Opera or Safari. IE works just as it should.

Any ideas why this happens? Have I missed something obvious (again)?

Scrollbar Doesn't Work With Mozilla And Opera

i've got a "little" problem using the scrollbar-component and a dynamic textfield within a flash-movie. i hope there is somone out there who can help me. it works perfect with ie but mozilla firefox and opera don't like it. it won't work. the scrollbar is visible but you can't scroll.

please help... i've searched and searched but couldn't find an answer yet!

Movie Buttons Don't Show In Mozilla, Opera...
For some reason, a button I have on my flash app isn't showing in Mozilla based browsers (FF, Netscape) or Opera, but it shows fine in IE6. As far as the app goes, it works perfectly in all three browser engines with the exception of my button. I even have four radio buttons that show in all three engines, again, just not the button.

Is there a fix to the problem? I've googled it, but I really haven't been able to find an answer, and I didn't see anything related when I searched these forums.

It is a button from the component list... would that be the problem?

I may have to build my own and try it that way... not sure why that only hit me just now... lol

Either way I'd like to know if there is a way to make the button component show in Mozilla and Opera, and if there are other components to look out for with the same issue.

I have inserted "interactive Images" (useing dreamweaver). my navigation buttons show up in IE, Netscape, but not in Mozilla Opera, or Safari. all that shows up is a little black rectangle where the button should be.

I have downloaded the newest flash patch for all the browsers i have tested on and still get the same issue.

any ideas?

HELP : "wmode" Parameter For FIREFOX, MOZILLA & OPERA

First of all, I would like to thank the helpers on this forum. They really are very impressive. More power . . . .

My question goes something like this,

In flash movies having WHITE BACKGROUNDS, flash has a parameter called "WMODE" which enables flash movies with white background to be transparent when viewed in INTERNET EXPLORER. Thus, when you RIGHT CLICK on the white portion of the movie, it would display the MACROMEDIA CONTEXT but instead show an HTML CONTEXT. However, I tried viewing my website under FIREFOX and found out that this parameter below

does not work in FIREFOX. Is there any equivalent code for that wherein it will work for FIREFOX & maybe OPERA too? The entire code goes like this:

Fishy Buttons
Anybody got some crazy Fishy ways to create some buttons that appear when you press the key "s"???
Or when you press the key "SPACE"???]

but this button had to disappear on enterframe.

I am using this idea for a button used for replaying a racing game.

So when the car crosses the line, and some1 will press <space> to stop the timer. and the button should appear at the same time.

Any other ideas for some Fishy buttons are accepted.

got major head trauma from trying to nut this one out solo:

what i've got is a movie that loads variables from an external .txt file to dynamic text boxes inside movieclips (this is so i can animate the textboxes), i managed to get the movieclips to automatically update and animate the number of text boxes needed from one of the variables in the txt (so all I need to do for multiple movies is change the txt, not the fla.)

now to the problem!!:: i can get everything above working fine on level0 but when i load it from inside another movie i get nadda. even if i go back and change all references to level0 in the first movie to level5 and load that into level5 i still get nothing

are there any hard and fast rules about levels that i'm missing or is my attempt at being smart making me look stupid?? any clues will be appreciated...

Flash & Levels, Why Is It Doin This?

I have a swf which loads up on level 4.

For some reason, even though it cant be seen, when I move my mouse over this swf, Flash is detecting the buttons I have on level 3!!

I dont want to unload level 3 or move to a blank frame where I dont have the buttons on the stage then have level 4 load.

How can I stop Flash from picking up the buttons on the layer down below.

Something Fishy About Form Components
or maybe I'm missing something very obvious.

I have a flash movie with two parts: the main animation (#2), and a configuration form (#1) that precedes it.

The configuration form has text fields and dropdown boxes (components). Both seem to work just ducky the first time you use it. However, if you configure it, submit the fields and go to the main movie, then jump back to the config screen to change your settings, the components (dropdowns) seem to stop working. It's like the movie literally can't see them ... but it sees the text fields just fine.

I could go into much more detail but this feels like a fairly basic problem, or a well-known one.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about or should I go on (and on)?

Hi,

I am experiencing difficulties when embedding a pixelfont in flash. I could not find anyone with the same problem I have on this forum.

I downloaded a pixelfont from FFF, named FFF Harmony. The text is loaded dynamically, and I have selected "lowercase", "uppercase", "numerals" and "puctuation" in "character". But when viewing the MC, it does not load the text.

Do you guys know why this happends?

Is it really Opera 6 does not support embed tags: height, pluginspace, quality, src, type and width?

Hi - I have a basic site in Flash MX that works in IE and Netscape fine but gets stuck in Opera.

The flash movie has 4 scenes - what happens is the first scene loads OK and then when you try to go to other scenes (ie home, portfolio, services, contact) it plays the scene but then goes back to the first scene and plays the first frame. Each scene has a stop(); at the end which does stop it in IE & NS but for some reason opera always jumps back to the first frame in scene 1.

Site is Flash MX with named anchors.

Any ideas?

That's the problem. Using IExplorer everything is ok - transparency exist, but under Opera it's not. A part of my code:

[F8] Different Results With IE And Opera?
In my movie the cursor (dragged movieClip) slightly rotates according to where you are moving from, so If you move it from the left it slightly points to the left and if you move it from the right it slightlys moves to the right, Now when I test this Swf, it runs fine in Opera but the cursor Movement Doesn't work at all when I run it with IE could this possiby be because how I set up the code for the cursor I'm using:

[CS3] Problems In FF/Opera

I'm needing your help since I can't find what is wrong and I've never seen this bug before.
I've done a flash movie with an action on the first frame, telling him to go to the middle of the movie and play from there on. All my problems lay in there.

In IE8, IE6, Safari and Flash Player himself, I got that action working.
Problem is: in Firefox 2(!) and Opera, the movie play since the beginning, what I didn't want him to do.

In frame 1 I have:

How To Fix IE/Opera Swf Issue?

Wonder how to fix that IE 7 issue of having to click on the flash file/banner in order to activate it...Opera also has this issue as well. Thing is I need a fix that will be easy in one go - I've got a rotation/random array/series of banners on this home page -

I'm wondering does Opera support FlashVars?
I have made a header for a website which loads banners and uses FlashVars to get the link to the banners files's location and a link to open if the user clicks on a banner. Everything works fine in IE but Opera seems not to recognize FlashVars. Right now they are placed only as params in the object tag and not in the embed tag.

I have been trying to figure out why this doesn't load in firefox. I designed this site in ff and now a year later I noticed the slideshow isn't coming up in ff. I don't know what the dealio is. I think the only think changed is that i added code in the page for the active content to be shown in IE.

i have a problem with a flash movie viewing them in Opera and IE.
the flash gets info from external .txt file and displaying that in some dynamic text boxes .. the flash refresh in 7 secs .. so if i change something in .txt file after 7 secs it changes in flash .. BUT .. its only working with Firefox.
IE and Opera just dont refresh flash i gues .. dunno why

I made an app and strangely it doesn't load in Opera at all no matter what I do Isn't a flex/Flash movie supposed to work identically across browsers? (same plugin) I never had any problems with Flash/Flex applications in Opera before

Problem In Opera
My Flash movie works fine in IE and Mozilla, but the navigation doesn't work in Opera. Anyone had a problem like this before? I don't get it.

I am making this flash chat room. It is pretty much done. Seems to be working great on IE and Netscape but when I tested it on Opera the send button (Which sends the users message to a php page using this code

Doesnt seem to work? Is there a problem with using Opera and loadVariablesNum??

GetURL Different In Opera ?
I'm using a getURL and _self for a small .rar file download.

In Opera - if you click the Download button - it does open the download file window - but stops other loading in the background. The other browsers work fine and continue to allow stuff to load in the background.

Should I be using a different getURL method. I didn't want another large browser window opening just for the small download option so I didn't choose _blank.

IF you view it in firefox and ie it works ok but in opera it's totally messed up. Any ideas on how to make the content etc load up?

Also... I use loadMovieNum to load my content into my main swf. In my content swf in the about and portfolio page I used the attachMove function to load up my thumbnails and content. This meant the movieclips loaded up on the 1st frame which meant I couldn't insert a preloader. I also tried the tut at http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx/p...transition.htm but the transition effects wouldnt work. ( I just wanted the pages to fade in) so does anyone have any ideas on making the preloaders work?

Is there a way of having all the swf pages preload with the main.swf (main page?)

And does anyone know any places which show me how to make a contact form? I've tried using this site before -http://www.fwzone.net/showDetail.asp?TypeId=2&NewsId=756 but the info can be sent without having all the fields filled in which causes blank emails to be sent which I don't want.

FSCommands Vs Opera
Hi guys.

I'm sure I have got this working before.. I think ..but has anyone ever managed to get FSCommands working with the Opera browser?

Everything is working fine in Firefox, Netscape, and Internet Explorer, but Opera is being a pain in the rear as usual.

i got a problem with a text input field.
that input field is using device font (_sans).
in netscape and opera with flashplayer6 you can´t enter an @ sign.
has anybody an idea how to solve this problem?

Movie With XML In Opera Browser, No XML
I have a movie that uses an external XML file as the datasource for a combobox component. I am testing on my local harddrive and It works perfectly in every browser except Opera 5. The XML refuses to load when the movie is viewed in the Opera browser.

Has anyone else noticed this???

Opera 6 Doesn't Like LoadMovie?
I'm not sure why but every time I try to use the loadMovie command, the flash file works fine in IE6 and NS7 but not in Opera6... Here's three scripts:

a.dyn.loadMovie("photobar" + param + ".jpg")

loadMovieNum("interface.swf",2);

loadMovie("interface.swf",nav); (with a mc named nav)

Neither of them seem to work. The second one is very basic, so I'm not sure what's going on. I made sure I was running Flash Player 6 v29 and everything. Anyone else have this problem?
