Outer Glow In Flash
I was wondering if there is a way to create outer glow effects in flash, sorta like this site: www.motiongerm.com . I've played around with the 'soften fill edges' thing but it doesn't look half as good as the site I mentioned. Am I going to have to create photoshop images and then put them into flash(long load time)?

Fading Outer Glow On Text
I'm completely new to Flash and am trying to get an outer glow effect to fade in on the text in the following movie:

(It's really rough right now; I'm going to work out the kinks later). Is there a way to get the outer glow effect right in Flash, or should I do this in Photoshop? I tried saving the text with the outer glow effect in Photoshop, but it came out as just a big opaque bubble around the text. What should I do? Any advice would be appreciated.

I'd like to describe the problem as simply as possible.

Here what I did:

- Made some text in Photoshop
- Made it outer glow (by using blending option)
- Changed the spread size to get several versions
- Gathered and imported the images into Flash and arranged them in key frames

I got the effect I want
But,

Is there any solution to make the same effect by using flash only (without any images)?

Photoshop Effect "Outer Glow" In Flash
Hi,

I know there's threads here on having text glow, and I've searched through a few of them. I've even talked to some pretty good Flash designers, but I have yet to discover a solution to make text have the Photoshop "Outer Glow" effect in Flash MX (or Swish). I obviously can do it if I use the background image in Flash as the background in my Photoshop document, but I want things to move around the screen. Please have a look at www.hostrocket.com. You'll see that when you zoom in the text is crystal clear (a characteristic of Flash, not a Photoshop-transported image), however the glow is very pixelated.

Please, if you know of a solution, fill me in.

I would like to create a button with text that glows red when moused over and fades back to it's normal color when moused off, and stays the glow color on click. Can someone help illustrate the best way to do this or post a sample file for me to look at? THANKS!

Inner And Outer Bevel

Is there a way to create an image within Flash (say a square), and add an outer or inner bevel effect to make it appear 3-dimentional.

OUTER SPACE - DYNAMIC?
The action scrolls right to left.

How can I make the background go through slight tints of particular colours?!

How could I make a simple circle rotate?!

Could it rotate with the tinting going on over it?!

If I get two space scenes, can I have one fade into the other?! How?!

Could the tinting be over that?!

The action zooms by, while the background stays in the same place! If you have any other ideas of how to add dynamics to the background, please let me know what you suggest and how to do it!

Flash And The Outer World...
Hi, I would like to know if it were possible to input and output information into flash, for example, i would like to input and output information comming from lets say the paralell printer port, (or anny other)
What i want to do is for example monitor a port and get flash to react to lets say a physical push button, i woud allso like to light up LEDs with commands from flash.
I know that flash cant communicate directly to the paralell port so i thought about writing a program in another language than actoinscript that would monitor the port and write a text file that i coud read in flash (LoadVars)
I was told that it would be better to go strait through a database, so (being new to ASP) i mucked around and learned how to load variables from a database.
I was wondering if it were possible to send variables back into the database from flash (something like SendVariables()), and to use database information to interact with the parallel output port. (using another aplication to transform database variables back into port values)

Am i doing things in the right way?
Is this the best way to pass to and from flash and the outer world?

Getting Rid Of The 'outer Ring' On A Swf, And Disabling Zoom In
Hey all.

I have a SWF hosted on a site I'm making and I'm trying to get rid of the outer ring that appears when you roll over the swf. I also need to disable the zoom in feature. How can this be done?

In Firefox the outer ring doesn't appear, but it does in IE.

Importing Text From Outer Txt File
hello there,

I have been looking form some nice tutorials to import text from and external txt file, and I know that it is doable since i have done it before, but I have yet to find a way that does not bug. The way that I currently do it only lets me load the text into one form field and when I start the process over again it does not work. Does anyone have a really good tut for me to see how to do this, or otherwise can show me how to this (action script and all)?

RollOver/Out Hitbox Outer Area Needs To Be Disabled. Help Please.

The project that i'm working on (flash mx 2004) requires me to make a small pop-up box with info init.

so basically the moseOver/Out trigger is a smal 30x30 picture, and inside the MC i made the actual box, which is about 60x30 and also the text inside.

everything works fine, the mouseover/uot events, the box and text, but my problem is, the pop-up box will appear if i hoover my mouse of the invisible box as well, not just the picture.. so now i have a huge trigger area, when only I wanted the trigger area to be the pic.

is there any way i can disable, or truncate (withuot truncating the whole picture) so i can just use the actuall picture as the trigger area?

Crushed On The Outer Realms Actionscript Hell
Well it's not that bad.

I have a curious question my noodle will not process.

I have a small drawing app, it has a triangle with 3 anchors the user can drag around to make the triangle they want.

How can I make the anchors go away when they are doing something else, but make them reappear when the object is 'selected' somehow. I put it in quotes because it seems any attempt to do so kills the onPress function of the anchors.

Right now I have a seperate button that just hides all the anchors, it just seems really kludgey.

Any ideas?

Component Problem - Outer Green Box Left On Page
a green box has been left behind after two differant components were used on differant projects - the scroll box and a button. An outer green box stays on the page after you select or use the comonent. I've even had it stay on the page after moving on to another page. Is this a known component problem? What the heck?

Question About "outer Space" Concept

I have a question about a concept I'm trying to develop and I was wondering if there was anyone out the who could point me in the right direction. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What I am trying to do is to create a Flash intro sort of like the opening to a Star Wars movie, except no scrolling text. I want it to appear as though the viewer is floating through space with stars passing by.

How do I make a Glowing object?

Inner Glow?
I know that Flash can't reproduce some of the things you can do in Photoshop and Illustrator, so I'm trying to find some other way that I can accomplish a particular effect I need to carry through an entire project -- an inner glow:

Can anyone think of a good way to reproduce the inner glow I have around the inside of the frame? I can create the same thing in Illustrator or PS and import them, but then the art never looks as crisp no matter what settings I try on the import/export.

So IS there a way to do this in Flash? Or failing that, is it possible to export/import this cleanly from either PS or AI?

Im trying to find out how the fade in GLOW effect is done that is at http://www.pixelranger.com. The logo fades in with a glow that gets brighter then the glow subsides and the pic fades. The only way ive seen to create that glow is to Soften the edges in flash but i cannot animate it. Please help or maybe (shudder) i just have to goto photoshop and make each and every frame???

Does anyone know how to make this glow when the buttons move down, and it welds together on the site. U need to click on the high bandwith version to be able to see it. If anybody can help me that would be great.

Text Glow
I am wondering how to get text intact from photoshop and/or fireworks to flash. I am trying to have a glow effect on a logo and some text that pulsates on and off, I can do the glow in the graphics software and I can do the tweens in Flash.
I would also like the text to be editable so I can break apart and have the letters enter the stage at different times.

I guess my question is... how do I get text with attributes (glow, shadow, stroke etc.) from photoshop and/or fireworks into flash???

Glow Effect With JPG's
Hello everyone,
I have a quick question regarding a commonly seen effect. Essentially, you have an image that starts off with a big glow..almost like color dodge in Photoshop. And then it fades in with the normal looking image.

almost like....there is a sun on the image and then it fades out. Not sure if I did the best job of articulating the image effect. Please let me know if you guys have any thoughts. Thank you

Dynamic Glow

I'm having a bit of a problem, I'm drawing some lines using AS and I want them to glow, I was thinking of converting each line segment into a movie clip then apply the glow filter but I think this would be too taxing for flash (possibly hundreds of lines on screen at once), my question : is there a way of applying glow to lines without having to convert them to MCs? Maybe there's an algorithmic way to generate glow ?

The other alternative would be to make a "glowing line" in photoshop then attach and stretch the MC as the user draws a stroke, but since that "glowing line" would be a "graphic" element (not vector) I would get all sorts of aliasing problems.

To test wether the value is decreasing i have used a dynamic text box (and it is going down) but the problem is that the glow still remains the same

How do i make it so that when the button is pressed the glow decreases, does it need to loop the frame somehow so it reloads the script?

anyways I think the lines get a little to edgy so i thought it would get better if I added some glow around the line if thats possible with actionscript?
