Hi i have searched around a bit for this and i think it is easy. I am loading photos into mc with xml and that works fine. But what i want to do is no matter what the size of the photo is i want to have it scale down to be the same size as my mc. My mc is 175x50 and i want the outside photos to scale to fit. It does not make a difference if the photos become distorted because of different width and hight.

i'm new in action script and i'm using action script 2
i'm now trying to create a flash file that is used to view mobile photos (i.e its size is small) and i want to create a viewer for it but because the photo size is small when viewing it no one can see its details and when increasing its scal the quality of the photo is too low
so
my question is
if anyone know a way to increase the size of the photo without affecting the quality of the photo in the time to be viewed only not the original photo please send me a reply on it

i sort of asked this before but never got a clear responce to it. this is sort of a two part question. one i have a dynamic gallery of images with a small picture that you click on that loads a bigger picture. I would love to be able to just have one photo that loads into the bigger mc and also the small mc. right now what i am doing is making two size photos a small 47x47 and a large141x141.
does anyone know how i can use the same photo for both mc's
second question. if that works will it make the small photos take forever to load since their sorce is a large photo?

Match The Size Of A Dynamic Movie To The Size Of Its Parent Container Using ActScrpt?
I have a program that is dynamically loading images into a nested movie clip. The Parent movie contains the two separate movies within it and images are to switch back and forth in them. I need to know how I can use action script to load these nested movies to the exact dimension of the parent movieclip.
Here is my code:

The size of the images need to be contained within the size of the parent clip of both called StagePictures.
How can I set the size of the two nested clips to match the parent?

I've been seeing this in a lot of places and wanted to know how it's done. I figured out how to scale things to window size and keep objects in center. But how do you scale photos so they look full quality?

Photo Gallery Image Size Help
Can someone tell me how I can correct the size of my thumbnails and larger images pls. I have attached the fla file and the flash player file in this zip file. I've got everything else working but I am not sure what script to use to adjust the image size to the actual file size.

Its a nifty little gallery and i'm going to utilise it but i have hit a little stump regarding displaying the images. The images in this tutorial all appear to be 300 x 200. I'm wanting to display (for example) 5 images all of different size. Thing is, if i go into the XML file and change the locations of the images to bigger than that of 300 x 200 then it only displays a fraction of the image i have changed it too.
How can i make it so that the images (varying in widths and height) will all display as their original sizes?
I can paste some AS code if you need to have a look.
P.S - if i adjust the size of the MC that displays the images this seems to display the fraction of the larger image, but at a zoomed in size.

XML Photo Gallery Change Picture Size
Hello, I've just completed the "Photo Gallery Using XML and Flash" tutorial and I didn't find out how to change the size of the pictures I want to show i.e. if my gallery have bigger pictures how to display them? I've tried changing the size of the empty movie clip and typed the correct path to the image in xml and it didn't worked.. Help me please, thank you in advance.
AS2 Photo Gallery Size An Action Issue

I'm a newbie with AS2....and i wanted to learn to create a photo gallery that scrolls right or left, and that when you click on the photo it becomes bigger.
Well I found a tutorial from a site. The only thing is that... when I built it and applied it to my project it does not work:
The issue is that it takes over the main page, even though is in its own swf file....(It's part of a flash website, where each page is loaded separately...in this case this AS is in one page (portfolio) and when it gets loaded in the main page...the AS acts upon the "root"...I really don't know how to change the script to only act upon the native swf file. I'm using a loader component to load the external pages...not sure if this is what's causing the issue? :roll:
Also, aside from all the photos appearing across the entire horizontal part of the page(they do get to scroll), but when you click on the photo ..it does enlarge but it freezes the whole page. I would like for this action to only be constrain to the size of the page, which is a different size than the one of main page, and to be able to be clickable...I know this might sound confusing... but if anyone can help I can supply a url...to explain things better! In the mean time here is the code....

Photo Gallery Using XML And Flash - Setting Image Size
Hi guys. I've read Kirupa's tutorial located @ http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx20...otogallery.htm
I've set the stage size to be 800x600px and my images are the same size.
My queries are:
1. If the image is smaller than 800x600px, can i set the image to load in the middle of the stage instead of the top left corner?
2. If the image is bigger than 800x600px, can i set the image to the same size (ie. 800x600px)?
I've tried adding code into the ActionScript but whatever i've tried, i've had no luck. I've also tried changing properties within Flash MX 2004 but still no luck.
The reason i want to add these changes is because not all the images used will be exactly 800x600px in size, some will be smaller and some will be bigger.

[Flash CS3] Help Getting XML Photo Gallery To Adapt To Different Thumbnail Size
NOTE: This is all done using AS2
So after studying the wonderful tutorial on how to use XML to make a photo gallery, I made one. And it loads and everything The problem comes in when I try and load thumbnails that consist of landscape AND portrait (tall) orientation.
The thumbnails will sometimes overlap. I can increase the space between the thumbnails, but it looks a little wonky when I do that (LARGE gaps sometimes between pictures).
Any idea on how to programatically have Flash find the width of each thumbnail loaded and space the next one based on that amount?

Flash8 XML Photo Gallery Problem With Thumbs & View Size
1) I bought a photo gallery that works well, but when I use it in a project I'm working on, the thumbnail images don't display, but everything else does including XML loaded text so I'm pretty sure it has to do with the actionscript and the level it's targeting.
2) I also can't figure out how to shrink the size of the full view photo which seems to also be loaded somehow with action script to a blank MC, but it may not be in the script below... there's a lot of script here that I don't understand.

Dynamic Photo Album, Possible?
I've recently created a nice dynamic text flash movie that called html files and therefore made an easily updatable site for even people without flash. Now I want somewhat of the same thing, but in a type of Photo Album. I want a dynamic text box to look at a file at pull of different "Site" names, because the pictures will be in different catergories. From there I want it to look into a folder and display all the pictures in that folder in either a scrollable left to right box or something with next and back buttons. If it's possible to create a photo album without setting a static destination for each picture but instead say pull up all these pictures from a folder then please tell me. That is the basis of my idea and if that's possible then I can do this. Thanks. Sorry so long.

Dynamic Photo Gallery
I want to create a gallery, or several galleries of thumbnails, which will load full size jpegs into a separate empty MC elsewhere on the stage. I don't want to compromise on the quality of the jpegs so some of these will be large. Is it possible to do this on the fly so that on click, a specific jpeg will load into the MC, and while it loads, a preloader can inform the user of load status?
How would i go about doing this?

Dynamic Photo Arrays...
OK, we all have seen the javaScript image array that shows web viewers a different image each time they visit an HTML page. I.E. - when I visit "example url" I see image 01. If I were to hit the refresh button I would see image 03. If I were to hit the refresh button again I would see image 02. So on and so on and so on.
My question is: Is there a way for me to accomplish the same technique in flash?
EXAMPLE: I have a portfolio site where the user will see a featured piece on each portfolio section. I would like Flash to choose from an array of images(or swf files) to populate the featured piece section. I envision some sort of frame actionscript that would randomly choose from the designated list. I also would like the image to be linkable to a larger version of the piece. Is this doable?
If the above example is doable, how do I execute it? I do not really need a line by line explanation of how to accomplish this, just a general idea. I.E. - Do I use functions? What about if then statements? Do I utilize loadMovie commands. Etc, etc, etc. If the technique is simple then a line by line example would be appreciated.

Ok, i really need a flash photo album that shows a list of photo directories. then when you click a directory, it will automaticly load thumbnails of all the pics in that certain folder. then when you click certain pics, it will enlarge. Hi people! =) I'm pretty sure a post like this have been already made a thousand times, so PLEASE don't kill me just now, and gimme a little help =) eheh, I want to create a dynamic photo gallery using flash! I'd like to know if any other languages like php or so are involved, and if anyone can give me any url so that I can check it out, how is it done! The final product should aim at least one goal, which is: I must be able to update the gallery without even knowing that flash exists! So what I want is just a method of updating it, that I only need to know the maximum image size the pictures can be, and where can I change the text which comes under the picture, by means of an external txt (4 example) So, basic knowledge to update this dynamic photo gallery, should be how to rename files, how to upload files to a specific folder using ftp, and the respective txt files! =) hope I was clear, and not too boring! i want the pictures to fade in and out aand give the user an option to pause, restart, go back and go forward a picture.

I need a cool dynamic photogallery that updates itself when i drop an image into the folder (should not edit xml). Once an image is dropped into the folder, the flash should automatically take it into the photogallery (would be great if it could auto thumbnail it in its navigation). Is there a way to do this?
Is there any software that does this - like SlideShowPro. I can buy that. Its a very urgent project for my client.

Dynamic Photo Gallery
I created a photo gallery and was going to try and use the connection routine to send information from the main window to the gallery.swf in a popup window. However, I couldnt get the javascript to open a new browser properly.
I decided just to embed the gallery code/objects into my main program and use a bunch of show/hide commands to display it. This obviously isnt the best route, but I am not proficient enough to do the former.
Now I am having problems loading the pictures into their respective loader components. *pulls out hair*.
I was hoping somone would look at my code.. The main program is not very long and fairly well noted. I just dont know what codee to post, cause I dont know where the problem is. I've traced everythign I can think of and see no problems...

I was just wondering if anyone could point me in a direction where to look for creating a gallery similar in nature to the one at the top of this particular web page. Just the sliding/angled pics at the top.

I would want to change the number of images in the rotation without having to recreate a new flash movie.
I'm not asking anyone to hand me a finished product, but if anyone could suggest a good starting point/web site/tutorial/book to get me off and running in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. Dynamic Photo Montage ?

The band recently released our debut CD; & we'd like to get up to speed on the video presentation end. We've noticed that many acts, here & there on the web...in lieu of having a full fledged music video...have a Flash movie (or some sort of video presentation) whereby still photos move around & display in a clever dynamic arrangement...fading in & shifting about...rolling & tumbling into place in an artsy layout, etc.
Is this primarily done in Flash; & if so...how?

I am new, not expert in flash. Knows only basic flash action scripting, can any body guide me about dynamic flash photo gallery. How can import images in flash from database.
please help me, I need that urgently, all suggestions are welcome.

Dynamic Photo Gallery With XML
My photo gallery works fine when I test movie in gallery.fla
I have a thumbnail scroller that moves the thumbnails right when you move mouse left and left when you move mouse right.
When you click on a thumb a larger picture is displayed. This all works fine in gallery.swf
But when I load gallery.swf to main.swf in an empty movie clip using loadMovie
it loads put the scroller doesnt work. Everything else works but when I move mouse left or right the thumbnails dont move.
Any suggestions?

ok i have a photo gallery that is based off the kirupa.com photo gallery. the only thing is i don't want to have to go in a recode the flash movie when i want to add photos, and knowing a bit of php, i figured i could do it dynamically, here's what i came up with.

all of the frames are blank except the 4th frame which has a movie clip in it called 'photo', which is just a box.
so what happens is i get a 'root directoriesimagesundefined' error.
if i change the ftest.php in frame 1 to ftest.txt, a text file with the following line in it 'mylist=1.jpg,2.jpg,3.jpg&loaded=1' it works fine. my php file generates the same list (mylist=1.jpg,2.jpg3.jpg) and appends '&loaded=1' to the end of the list.
i know it's just my ignorance on how to import php data that's causing the problem. can anyone give me a hand?

Dynamic Photo Button Not Possible?
i'm trying to do what MLB.com did on their home page where the thumbnails are buttons. I can recreate the animation, etc but as soon as I use a dynamic photo (from an XML file) the instance loses all button behaviors. At first i thought I was references it wrong, but I don't think that's it.
So i'm guessing you can't use dynamic movie clips as buttons? Can anyone confirm this or am I missing something?
ps I'm new to Actionscripting...like today's my first day, so I'm really hope there's something i'm missing.

I'm hoping someone can help me with my problem.
Basically what I'm trying to do is the following:
I have a flash document that i need to dynamically load thumbnails into. The 'location' and 'what' the thumbnails are is being retrieved from a MySQL database.
Once these dynamically loaded thumbnails are loaded into the flash document they should have some ActionScript on them. This AS, when you click on a thumbnail will open up the 'larger version' of the thumbnail. So basically its a 'Photo Gallery' that is dynamically loaded.
Now I have knowledge in AS, PHP and MySQL. I was just wondering if anyone knew of a GOOD tutorial for something like this or something similar. I am able to do all the work by myself, I just need a little nudge in the right direction. I would really appreciate it, so much!

You could say I'm a beginner with Flash. I can do simple tweens and fading effects. I know this is very simple stuph. But I was asked to have a photo on our homepage that will keep on rotating photos by fading in and out.
Is there a script or a file I you can share that will show the photos from a directory in a rotating manner?
I know how to fetch all the photos from a directory using PHP, but I have no idea on how to do it using ActionScript. Can anybody please help me?
Help With AS Dynamic Photo Gallery Bug
Hello, I'm having an amazingly annoying bug that i can't figure out.
I found a wonderful template (i know, i said it...sorry ) which i used to modify to fit my application. It is a photo gallery with an external .xml file and jpg's. The script parses the xml to find gallery quantites, gallery names, and image quantities and names. It then creates the menus and thumbnails on the fly. When a thumbnail is clicked on, it reads the number of the thumbnail and loads the larger image in another clip.
Everything *almost* works.
My problem is that after the gallery is clicked and the thumbnails are loaded, after i click on any of the thumbnails, the last thumbnail in the gallery loses its click-ability. If i reload the gallery or select a different gallery, they again all work until i click on any thumbnail.
I've tried going thru the code, but i can't seem to find anything. Any thoughts?
