Flash :: Pixel Fonts Still Blurry

Pixel Fonts - Blurry?
Hi, i want to use some pixel fonts on my site, but i just read an article that said they can't be done unless exported in low-quality (the .swf that is)

but i saw at the end that the date was around the time with flash 3,

have they fixed this? if so, how?

Pixel Fonts Are Blurry
I'm having trouble making pixel fonts show up correctly. I made sure the text boxes are placed on integers. I took off antialiasing text and it is still blurred. (mostly size 8) sometimes the font looks nothing like the original. Can anyone help me out? I want to use either a size 8 or 16 pixel font that is crisp at all times. Thanks in advance.

Okay, my pixel fonts that I'm using are still fuzzy. They look like they're being smoothed. I thought this might just be OS X's doing, but it happens on PCs too apparently.

Is there something I have to set, to make my pixel font have hard edges?

I have been following all the rules about pixel fonts (size 8, int. coorinates, not scaling movies &c) but some of my text fields are still not as crisp as what i want. One thing i have noticed is that the bad ones are all a few MC's deep. Does how many MCs within MCs matter with pixel fonts?

Pixel Fonts Still Blurry
I have created a dynamic scrolling text box using the pixel font FFF Business. It looks great in a static text box and fine on my system in a dynamic text box. On the Fonts For Flash website it states that fonts have to be embedded if they are in a dynamic text box but when I embed the font outlines it becomes all blurry.

The text is positioned correctly (the X/Y values rounded up), it's left aligned, it's rendered as html, I've done everything that has been suggested but it doesn't work.I've also added the font to my library using linkage properties.
Surely if you have a font on your system and it looks good on screen, when you embed that font it should look crisp on other systems. That's the point of embedding.

Could you give me any advise, suggestions???

Pixel Fonts Are Blurry
I'm using a pixel font set at 8 point (as required), with aliased text turned on, with ragged left alignment, and positioned on exact pixels, yet the text is still blurry in my menu. This text is inside a movie clip.

The thing is, the same font in simpler circumstances works just fine. What are some other things that could be causing the font to blur?

A little question...

I've got a static text with a pixel font size 8.(the good one)
But even when I put all the mc's at whole pixels, the font is still blurry.

Can someone tell me what it wrong?
Maybe an other aspect I didn't saw.

But mine are still blurry. Any surefire ways to keep my pixel fonts crisp?

1. They are three deep in terms of nested MovieClips. (They are inside a movie clip that is inside a movie clip that is in the main movie.)

2. I have checked the x,y of all these movie clips - and the info pallette says they are all on whole numbers. I checked the x,y of the type itself too.

3. All of these movie clips are 100% by 100%. Left aligned and sized at 8pt.

4. I have the alias button checked. (Just in case I have with and with out this checked - and still blurry - but if you have a different opinion, please still let me know.)

Any help is appreciated,

see the main menu, all the fonts are on whole numbers......209.0 x 112.0 etc. They are at 8pts why are they blurry sometimes ??

Yes, I've read the tutorial about making crisp pixel fonts: multiples of 8 (depending on the specific font), on an exact pixel, dynamic text, multiline, etc etc.

But following the instructions and embedding the font results in a blurry mess. (the exact reason this font was purchased)

Is there any way to embed a font and not have it blurry?!!??

Are my only crisp options ariel and verdana, even in flash?

Dynamic Pixel Fonts Blurry
Hi.

I'm using SkinnyMini (i.e., a pixel font) in a Gallery Component and the text labels accompanying the thumbnails are blurry.

1. The component is being attached on the wholepixel.

2. The text field is oriented "Left."

If I stick the following into my globalstyleFormat, the text becomes crisp as it should, but the blasted component breaks!

globalStyleFormat=Math.round;

Any Ideas?

Pixel/superpixel Fonts.......anyone Tell Me Why They Look Blurry As Any Other Font?
ok so i hear about super pixel and pixel fonts and think gee this is the answer to my blurry font issue on my site... i go and download a few of these follow the directions...publish my site...guess what they look just as blurry as any other font.. i followed the directions? I made sure all numbers were whole with no decimal and the fonts were enlarged by 8's... why are they still blurry? What am I missing?

hiya....i'm using one of these smooth scrollbars and have encountered a weird problem..i'm not having any trouble with the scroll stopping on a whole interger....the top half the the content is perfectly crisp and clear..but as you scroll down the fonts go blurry..why could this be?

Pixel Fonts - Do I Have To Choose Between Blurry And Masked?
I am using a dynamic text field which is loading info from a xml file. The text field needs to be masked, and therefore I have to embed the pixel font. However, when I embed the font it turns blurry...!! Do I really have to choose between havinge the font crisp or having it masked, or do anyone have a good solution to this?

i'm using some miniml(vector-based?) fonts in my movie. how should i set my text options in order for the client to see the fonts and what would be optimal settings to avoid blur(right now they are placed on whole number increments and seem ok). thanks =)

I'm trying to make my site look really crisp and sharp by using a bit of pixel art, I have got pixel fonts looking fine, but anything I draw look blurry when i zoom out, has anyone got any tips?

Im using pixel fonts in a flash website im making and they show up just fine, but once converted into a movie clip the text goes blurry.
Is there a way of stopping this and if so how?

Alright I've searched through the forums and have done everything regarding how to use pixel fonts and make them sharp and clear.

Here is what I've done so far:
1. Used specified size (8)
2. Font is on whole coordinates (x,y)
3. Used static text because I read that Flash 5 has a problem displaying pixel fonts in dynamic text.
4. Left-justified
5. Tryed checking 'Device Fonts' in text properties, but the pixel font became some other font like Times on another computer.

I also noticed that the pixel fonts will become sharp when published at 'low' quality, however I also have images in my swf file which becomes affected when not published in 'high' quality.

If it helps, I'm using font 'Org_v01' from http://www.orgdot.com/aliasfonts/

Hello Yall,

I am trying to make multi scrolls, I have it working all over the place. But I have one place where look blurry. I have the scrolls embedded in to two Mc deep. There are prefect all the clips a 0X0 on the pixel, but they are still coming out crapy. I think that it has to do with how deep the scrolls are in the movie? The first part of the text looks ok, then when you scroll down it looks blurry?

Pixel Font Still Blurry
I recently bought some pixel fonts. As i started to put them into my fla, i noticed that sometimes they look crystal clear, and other times, the still look very blurry. Not just in the html, but even on the stage. I have them placed on solid coordinates, and hate aliasing off. here is a link to see what I mean www.arocreative.com. Some of the text on here is in the font. I'm using Flash 8 but peblishing in 6. Any ideas? Thanks all.

I have 4 buttons setup all setout the same using a pixel font all at size 8, all have alias text button on and the last 2 come out blurry when i preview the movie? But when i'm editing the movie only the last one looks blurry heres a screen shot of it in editing mode. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Pixel Font Gets Blurry
Can anyone help me with this... it's driving me insane.

Whenever I have pixel fonts (or any font with no-antialias) and I go past 2 lines of writing, it gradually gets blurrier. See the attached file for an example of what I'm talking about.

I dont understand it, everything is set correctly - all the font settings are no-antialias (bitmap), file size is 10px (Tahoma) and 8px (FFF Neostandard) and they are all on full 0.0 decimal X and Y values. I had this problem a while ago and put it down to my PC being stupid. I then forgot and have come back to Flash and rediscovered the problem.

Can anyone help?

When I publish my works in Flash (ctrl+enter) sometimes my fonts used in the movie get a blurry look, even when they are pixel fonts. Why does this happend and how can I make it stop?

Hello, I'm sure I've followed every guidline on Fonts For Flash but still my text appears fluffy.

I just tried uploading the fla. file at 1.96 meg. Is that too big becuase I'm just getting a 'page not found' thang after submitting the thread.

Pixel Lines From Graphics Are Blurry?
Hey all-

I have a quick question..when I make a small graphic in photoshop and export it as a .gif to my flash library, one or more of the edges of the graphic are blurry...The graphic is just a 1px border around a simple square shape.

how do you all have the best luck doing pixel graphics in flash?

also, if wanting to use a pixel font, it is best to create the text field in the flash document obviously, correct?

More Blurry Pixel Font Issues, What Else Is Left
Hey folks.

Can you go to my site: www.stayinwonderland.com and look at the body text that I use e.g. the text under news and welcome.

It blurs from left to right progressively (left is crisp, right is blurred).

I have done all the usual tricks:
clean x,y placement, left align

Fonts are: uni 05_53 and swfit_slm_fw for the sub headings.

[Fonts] Pixel Fonts Are Closing Gaps..
Hi there,

I've got a weird and irritating problem. I have a font, supernatural_10_02, which I use in a site. This is a pixelfont, so I'm taking special actions to make sure the fonts look non-antialiased. This works fine, the text looks very nice. Untill I export the movie, then the gaps in letters are being closed for some strange reason.

To ******** things, I've uploaded two examples. First an example of how the font looks on the Flash MX Working stage:

What is going wrong? And what am I doing wrong.. Is there anything I can do to prevent those letters from closing? Please help!

I'm using Flash MX 6.0 on Windows XP

Ps: I've tried to export the movie on a Macintosh, the letters on that mac did not close?! Really weird..

Pixel Fonts Becoming System Default Fonts?
Hello, when I try to use some of the pixel fonts I have downloaded some of then turn into 'system default fonts' as if by magic and then fail to work, the ones that work like the FFF fonts don't turn into 'system default fonts'. Is there any way to stop my fonts becoming system default fonts, and would this ensure they dont muck up?

Please check out this part of my site for me. I created it on a MAC and tested it on quite a few PC's. Most are ok but on some the font is fuzzy. I used Arial font mostly. Should I use a device font instead? Is this what most Flash Designers use?

I am preparing a CD which plays fullscreen and holds several scalable movies. Although the font I am using for texts is not very small (12 points), it looks a little blurry when presented at 800x600 pixel resolution. Besides, I can't use device fonts, since I need to mask some parts of the text.
