Flash :: Player Window- Help

Mp3 Player In Its Own Window?
I’m new to Flash and to AS3 (and to programming in general). I’m building a flash website in CS3. I have a JUKEBOX on my site.

Right now when you click it, it opens a Flash mp3 player in another tab. (My site is johnkatchur.com/test so you can see how it works now). Instead, I want it to open (or I should say pop-up) in its own small window (so the viewer isn’t directed away from the main site by the new tab). A good example of what I want is the jukebox on Sting.com.

I know (or think) the solution has something to do with JavaScript. Someone offered this link as advice but I still can’t figure out exactly how to implement it.

I’m really out of my depth here…if someone could tell me exactly how to fix this, I would be grateful. Again, I’m using Action Script 3.

Swf In MS Window Media Player 9
I found out that swf file loads (buffering before playing) very slowly in Microsoft Window Media Player 9. Is there anyway to speed up the process or make it looks like it goes faster (to impatient user)? Thank you

Second Flash Player Window
I've created my portfolio in flash, which opens a full screen swf. When it's online I have links to other flash projects that pop up in a new browser window, is it possible to change the script on the link buttons so that the projects will open up in a new flash player over the top of the main movie when viewed as an offline presentation?

New Window & SWF Conversion For DVD Player

I need help with 2 things:

1. I have an html link that opens a .swf flash movie in a full window. I need the flash movie to open as a new window so when the user closes out, they're not closing out of the entire site. Can you send me the instructions for this?

2. I need to convert a .swf flash movie so it will play on a standard home DVD player.

I have a flash movie playing within the flash player. In the movie I have a button which I want to open another swf file in a new window, how do I do this?

I am aware of the get url command but this opens the swf within my browser. I want it to open in the flash player.

Resize Flash Player Window
OK, I've been having some problems getting all of the necessary elements to work together...

I have a parent movie and a child. The parent is 600X800 pixels. The child is 650X800 pixels. If I want the window (the Flash Player window; after creating an exe) to resize (depending upon which movie is loaded), all I need to do is load the appropriate movie at the same level as the previousle loaded movie. Example: Parent movie is loaded at level_0. An onPress loads the child movie at level_0 and the window resizes to the larger size. Another onPress loads the parent movie at level_0 and the movie window resizes back down. Problem. The parent movie loads the child at frame 5 of the parent movie. If, after loading the child movie, I want to return the parent movie to the player window, the parent movie will load correctly, but it will begin at frame 1, not frame 5 (where we originally left off before loading the child movie).

I have tried to script the child movie to force the parent movie to frame 5, but have been unsuccessful. Any advice and/or sample code?

i have created a button in flash. And wonder how do i playback a external videoClip from the same directory? How should i script my button inorder to playback it in window media player? My video clip is already saved in streaming format. As in it has a bit rate of 352kbps. When being called upon will it be consider it is running on streaming mode since i has already saved in streaming format?

.swf In Full Screen Window Within LMS Player
Does anyone know the code to make a .swf appear in full screen mode within an LMS player (SCORM wrapped) without having the windows bar, task bar, URL, etc.???

This would be similar to pressing the F11 key when viewing it within your browser. You can think of this as if you were watching a DVD movie on your computer in full screen mode.

The tricky thing here is that we need to get this to work within our SumTotal Systems LMS player. The standard FSCommand doesn't do the trick.

Getting The Flash Player's Window Size
I can't seem to dredge up anything on this that isn't specific to browser-based flash content, but what I'm trying to do is resize/rearrange my flash content within Flash Player window.

Currently, when opening a SWF or EXE, the flash player opens to your stage height and width. If you maximize the flash player window, your SWF is centered and the "empty space" outside your stage dims is filled with your stage background color.

I have an app that we use in house that I'd like to allow to fill the entire Flash Player once maximized. I can rearrange and resize the content but first I need to be able to get the Flash Player's size AND align my SWF to the top left of the Flash Player window.

Any guidance would be of HUGE assistance. Thanks folks.

StageWidth With Zooming The Player Window?
Hello,

I have a movie where I want to periodically create pop-up windows that are centered in the middle of the stage, and I do this by calling a setup function before adding the child with the code:

this.y = (stage.stageHeight/2 - this.height/2);
When testing it, it works fine. However, if at various points during the movie i try and resize the flash player window, either by dragging it, hitting zoom, or going to full screen, the popup window keeps showing up at very strange locations.

Is there some way I can restrict it to the active stage, or maybe some windowWidth property that i can use to correct this?

Flash Player Settings Pop Up Window
I just found the "Flash Player Settings" on a live SWF file. A little pop up window that appears when you right click on an online SWF file.

Can someone tell me what this function is for?
Security?
Cookies?
Browser Detection?

There seem to be controls for allowing someone to access functions on the user's computer. Storage space, microphone, camera. Is that correct?

The online documentation is a little vague on why it's there and what it can actually do. Either that, or I'm not advanced enough in Flash to understand what they are describing. (probably the latter)

But my client discovered it in a small slide show I added to their site. I had never seen it before, but I work primarily on a Mac and the usual alternative to "right clicking" (control-click) doesn't produce the little pop-up window. This seems to be a PC only thing.

I don't think they had ever seen this function before either because it alarmed them, and they want to know if I can turn it off.

Is that possible? If so, how? Perhaps when it's being published?
If not, is there anything I can say to assure them that it's harmless - if it is, indeed harmless.

The slide show was created using Flash 8, and published to detect Flash Player 7, with a "Flash Only" HTML template.

Using MP3 Player I am trying to find the best solution for adding a text file that contains the radio ad to accomadate those that are hearing impaired. Has anyone seen a similar project that I might be able to work from?

Quicktime Vs. Window Media Player Question
Howdy,
I have .avi files on my website that are displayed in a popup window. I used a plug-in for Dreamweaver to place the .avi file. I added an additional 16 pixels or so to the length of the .avi file to make room for the movie's windows media toolbar.

However, when someone on a mac or a pc machine in which .avi is associated with quicktime, the extra space I added for the windows media toolbar is displayed as white space. So esentially there is a white bar on the top and bottom of the movie.

What can I do so I will not have those white bars when it is open in quicktime? Is it possible to somehow change the background of the actuall .avi space?

Forbid Resizing Of Flash Player's Window?
Hello!

Is there any way how I can forbid the resizing of the flash player's window by user? Because in this way even the objects which shouldn't be visible are visible (for example the clouds, they are out of view because of smooth entering to visible area, but by resizing they become visible). Or any idea how to solve this? I know I could make a large object with a window in it and put it to the top layer. Any other way?

Firing Up A Flash Player Window Instead Of Html?
hello,
i am just wondering if it is possible to fire up a flash window as opposed to an html window with a swf in it.
the reason i am asking is that after undoing much testing of my fla on my mac and publishing it directly to the flash player successfully, after putting it into safari or firefox browsers it performs appallingly, running at about half speed.
it is so depressing that mac browsers are so hopeless with flash but is there a way round this?

Problems With LoadMovie...load Into A New Player Window?

so my project is a photoalbum. I have a main section, then about 9 smaller sections (with the photos in) . they are all seperate .fla files. My main section has the regular, " loading-> enter-> animation-> menu" layout.

So you get to the menu, and click a button to open a photo section. I am using this code to load the sections at the moment:

This is really annoying me now!! Why won't it work!

I was wondering if there was any way of loading an external .swf into another flash player window, so I could have each section open seperately. This would also help with the problems I'm having unloading the movies after. I tried getURL("link",_blank); but it opens in a web browser not a flash player :s

I would load the .fla files, but they are pretty big.

Control Flash Player Window Size
Is there a way of controling the size of the stand alone Flash Player window? Right now, when you launch the stand alone player, the enduser can drag the bottom right hand corner of the viewer and expand it to any size. I have a client that doesn't want the end user to be able to enlarge the player window.

How To Reposition Sprites After Resizing The Player Window?
Difficult one to describe this, but here goes:

We are developing a standalone app in Flash CS3. Part of the app involves placing graphic spites over specific strings of characters in text (to mask them). It is a client requirement that the player window/app can be resized by the user from the default 800x600 and that screen can be printed. All is fine until:

1. the player window is resized
OR
2. the screen is printed

In both cases the graphic sprites lose their alignment with the text they are masking - even if the aspect ratio is maintained. (With print, it only shows on paper.)

For case 1. resizing, is there any way to trap the completion of the resizing action (e.g. MOUSE_UP) with StageScaleMode set to NO_SCALE? If I can do this, I would then be able to: a) set StageScaleMode to SHOW_ALL so that the app fills the resized window - which is what we want; and b) call existing code to then reposition the graphic sprites over the text. However, although setting StageScaleMode to SHOW_ALL after resizing works with test code called from a mouseEvent (temp hack using MOUSE_MOVE), if StageScaleMode is then set back to NO_SCALE immediately afterwards in the same handler (as it would have to be to get future resizing events) SHOW_ALL doesn't have any effect - the switch seems to be happening too fast to be processed. How would I overcome this?

The only workaround I have currently is to constantly call the sprite repositioning code from an Event.ENTER_FRAME handler and have the StageScaleMode set to NO_SCALE - this works but the masked characters do show as the window is being resized. And there are processor load concerns. Any thoughts anyone? Better solutions or approaches?

For case 2. printing, I am considering using draw() to capture an image of the screen and then print from this. Is this the best way to proceed?

How To Remove Flash Player Installation Window
Hello, I have very strange question

Customer is asking us to remove window (do you want to install Macromedia flash player... etc...) that is automaticly popping when visitor (who doesn't have flash player installed) access web page with flash animation.

Is it possible to control this window from flash code in web page? Or some other possibility?

CONTROLLING WINDOW LOCATION In Stand Alone Player.
I'm hoping this is a stupid ? with an easy answer. When I package a windows standalone projector (1024x700) that does not use fullscreen mode, at execution the window is positioned half on/ half off the (1024X768) screen . Is there an FScommand or similar for controlling window loaction in the stand alone player?

I'm developing a presentation in flash 8 and I have a button that needs to close the window of the application when it is pressed.
This is the code that I'm using, but it doesn't work:

All it does is open a window in IE which immediately closes itself.

You know that window that pops-up when Flash needs to get camera/mic permission from your machine aka the Flash Player Settings dialog window. Now, this window pops-up right in the middle of the screen. I need it to pop-up on top of the screen or any other position that i would it to pop-up.

i have just developed a culture/guide site and all was fine until some people told me they cannot view the site properly.
please note that the site us pop up intensive and i use easy popup windows 2.1 smart clip.

Opening External Program Within Fixed Window In Flash Player
I've been trying to open an external program in Flash MX.
I've created the FSCommand folder along with the batch file to execute it. This all works....

I now want to be able to run the program within the flash player itself and not in a different window.

The application should be able to run within a fixed space provided in the player.

The picture below is what I want it to look like. Right now it runs the dos batch file but not embeded in the player as you see in the picture. The Dos window is seperate.

I want to embed the dos window so it look like it's part of the movie and not a seperate window.

Settings Window Appearing Blank In Flash Player 7 On Linux
Hi everyone,

I have a very strange issue. Not sure if it's something related to my Machine. I have Flash Comm application which i would like to test on Linux but most of the text in the application is not appearing. Even the settings window is appearing blank on my machine in Flash Player. Please check attached jpg file.

My machine config are:
Linux Fedora Core 5.
Flash Player 7
Browser Netscape 7.2 and Firefox 1.5.

Can anyone help me in identifying the cause of trouble? Is it OS specific or Player specific problem?
