I saw a flash banner in yahoo and I am wondering it is made in AS rather than frame tweening...
My question is:
1. How can we make the MC to "walk" in a curve?
2. How can we make oscillation after "reaching" the target before stopping? --(The oscillation is small in this example, another example can be found in http://www.yugop.com) I tried simulating but the action is too "discrete--not smooth"...

Please check http://www.yahoo.com. There is a PocketPC advertisement made in flash on the right column. When you just get into the page, the weard thing is that the PocketPC shows up on the other part of the screen (left) above the html of the page and moves to its place. How do you think it is this achieved? How can you move a flash over the screen, with transparent borders?

How Did They Do This On Yahoo In Flash?
Hi, i have a question concerning the kewl advertising in flash on the current yahoo site. As you can see, the first time a visitor visits the yahoo.com homepage it shows GET GOOFY THIS SUMMER in the center of the browser screen and then shrinks to an ad in the marketplace section on the homepage of yahoo. The advertorial is from Travelocity.com. Can anyone tell me how to make some sort of ad also like this?

As Google and Yahoo don't look at keywords in your HTML-file, but only at text. But what if my text are also JPG's in the movie? What is the best way to let those search-engines find you, when you have only a HTML-file and there in a table stands your SWF-file. I've tried "hidden" text. Text with te same colour as the background. But it doesn't seems to work. To hold it invisible i've used this code: <body oncontextmenu="return false" ondragstart="return false" onselectstart="return false">. Because otherwise you can see the text when you rollover with the mouse. I'm getting a little desperate with this.

I have seen some good stuff regarding Yahoo maps sometime ago from
ESTUDIOWORKS. Hope is still around because i have a problem with setting up my map.
I got a map geocoded by address method, but I need to do it by Lat and Lon
and I got lost looking at Yahoo tutorials.
Second the map has several markers with a SWF in them , but I don't know how to insert different swf in the markers at different locations.

The Breathtaking Ads On Yahoo And Msn
Well i have been puzzled, turned upside down with the amazing ads that apppear in Yahoo and Msn.
These are made in Flash. Run around the entire screen area. And do more than just appear.
Hell how do they make them? using a combination of DHTML (layers) and sequence with flash with no background (Flash without bg works only on HTML backgrounds).
Does anybody have any idea about this. Does it have anything to do with borderless flash.

Basically, it's a flash movie that resizes and appears over the HTML text. Is this done through some kind of 'transparancy' magic?
I see in the code they've got a JS function function called "popupMOVIE()". So it looks like it pops up in a new window, but it looks like it resizes itself.

How Does Yahoo Do That On Their Front Page..
Can anyone tell me how yahoo has a flash movie play on their home page over html, and if you dont have the flash plugin, the movie never appears and all you see is the html beneath it as you normally would? I also looked at it in netscape and the flash movie didnt appear. I am assuming that this is because Netscape cant read transparency in flash and the movie yahoo was showing had transparency in it.

I can get one or the other to work, but not both together. I am fairly new to flash still and have very little actionscript experience.
Email Form/PHP With Yahoo
Has anyone been able to get your email forms to work with yahoo web hosting. I have set up thier PHP/Perl Mail setup and for the life of I cannot get this to work.
Are thier any special things that need to be done, I have used this exact same script at godaddy and it worked fine, however I cannot get it to work at yahoo.

I cant seem to get my 'EVENT_CUSTOM_MARKER_LOADED' listener to 'trigger'...
Im also confused as to the eventData (paramters) I see in here.. not sure how that is bing used..

Recently while testing a flash application (I will refer to as MAIN) that utilizes the LocalConnection, an odd behavior has occurred only when running Yahoo Toolbar.
MAIN opens pop-ups (I will refer to as SUBS) using getURL("javascript: openSUB(subName)"). The openSUB function is defined as follows:

The SUB, after loading, calls a function using MAIN's LocalConnection. MAIN then returns the call to the SUB's LocalConnection. MAIN will always successfully call a function in SUB (the onStatus function is always SUCCESS when using call()).
The peculiarity comes in when Yahoo Toolbar is running in IE 6 (or sometimes in 7). The first time a specific SUB is opened, the calls are made both ways and the SUB executes the function called by MAIN. When the SUB's window is closed and then reopened from MAIN, the calls are made the same. This time, the SUB's function called by MAIN does not execute, though MAIN's onStatus function promotes otherwise.
Does anyone have experience with LocalConnection or Yahoo Toolbar and javascript to help troubleshoot? I am open to any ideas, comments, suggestions.
AS3 Yahoo/Google Map APIs
Although I know that a brilliant Yahoo! Maps AS3 frontend has been made (props to dr_zeus), is there any news about a native set of AS3 API classes for Google, Yahoo or Live maps?
Using localConnections to AS2 SWFs is doing my head in, and I really crave the direct control that I had when I was using the APIs in AS2.
Yahoo Maps Distance?
Hey guys, I'm trying to get the Distance calculator to work for the yahoo maps api. I basically just copied and pasted the code from their tutorial here:

But when I try to run it, I get this error:
The class or interface 'com.yahoo.maps.utils.Distance' could not be loaded.
Seems like a simple enough problem, but I don't know how to go about resolving it. My api is the latest version, and works fine with the other yahoo maps stuff.

Yahoo Toolbar Conlict
Recently while testing a flash application (I will refer to as MAIN) that utilizes the LocalConnection, an odd behavior has occurred only when running Yahoo Toolbar.
MAIN opens pop-ups (I will refer to as SUBS) using getURL("javascript: openSUB(subName)"). The openSUB function is defined below.
The SUB, after loading, calls a function using MAIN's LocalConnection. MAIN then returns the call to the SUB's LocalConnection. MAIN will always successfully call a function in SUB (the onStatus function is always SUCCESS when using call()).
The peculiarity comes in when Yahoo Toolbar is running in IE 6 (or sometimes in 7). The first time a specific SUB is opened, the calls are made both ways and the SUB executes the function called by MAIN. When the SUB's window is closed and then reopened from MAIN, the calls are made the same. This time, the SUB's function called by MAIN does not execute, though MAIN's onStatus function promotes otherwise.
Does anyone have experience with LocalConnection or Yahoo Toolbar and javascript to help troubleshoot? I am open to any ideas, comments, suggestions.

Linking To Yahoo Maps
Hi Folks,
Okay, here is another question. I am trink to link the website to Yahoo Maps. They give you HTML Code to use, but I am getting errors. Any ideas? Below is the listed code. Has anyone linked to yahoo Maps? Even giving me an example (a ".fla" file) and I can figure ou the rest.

Drop The Yahoo Toolbar
Add-on browser toolbars are useless. What are they for? They take up screen space and they put a bunch of links up there for you to click-on. It’s kind of like a web add that never goes away.
Toolbars create the perfect environment for misuse. IE: something running on your browser while you serf the net. I myself don’t ever use toolbars. And many feel the same way.
I know – why am I posting this now? Well I’ve always thought it would just go away. It’s not. Still there. Anyway I hope that Adobe can make better business decisions than the last one Macromedia made. Maybe something can be worked out with yahoo and have this toolbar removed and not prompted for download.
IF I was a web professional my advice would be never to download toolbars. Why? Because they could easily be programmed to track every move you make on the internet and even replace content with use of the DOM tree and JavaScript.

I’m not accusing yahoo of doing this in their toolbar. But why else would you have all those prewritten JavaScripts for DOM tree to parse and replace. ??? It's certainly not to update their webpages.
I’ve been using flash for years – Flash is one of the most exciting web technologies out there. No need for the tool bar – work something out. It’s the kind of thing that will drive Flash into the ground.

Custom Swf Marker In Yahoo Map
Hi there,
I'm creating a swf marker for a yahoo map that we're using for a client. I'm doing a custom marker for plotting points on the map that dynamically loads in text. The problem is I want to animate the box behind the text to create a frame round the text. The text can be any number of characters so is there a way I can automatically scale the box to fit round the text?
Any help would be great.
