.SVN And CS3 Not Happy
Have run into this several times now, figured out the fix.

I have a source control box, SVN. Works fine. There doesn't appear to be a clean simple SVN plugin for FB yet (the eclipse one doesn't work straight out, though I've heard you can manipulate it).

CS3, SVN, and Flex, can be made to work together pretty seamlessly though. My process...

- Create AS3 project in FB.
- Create base FLA in cs3, save into that project ("flash" folder usually).
- Pull down source from source control into a temp folder.
- Import the file system contents of that folder (this includes all the .svn folders)

I now have an SVN controlled FB project, which I use tortoise to manage; make sure all the folders are added, synch up, you're good. Works great. Then to tie in CS3 as the compiler...

- Point CS3 AS3 prefs to project source folder ("source" folder usually).
- Import same init class used by Flex baseform.

Now I can compile with either Flex or CS3, very nice.

But no! CS3 will not compile the project. It warns 5001: The package name...doesn't match file....move or rename... etc. for any number of classes.

The classes were correct, I had no doubt. Went through it VERY carefully. FB built it fine.

I rolled back to a non-source controlled version...everything fine. The folders and namespaces, identical. Hmm...svn?

Sure enough, I started deleting .svn folders. When you delete the one in the .fla's directory (the one CS3 is trying to compile) the problem goes away. All the other folders can remain.

I know a lot of people don't source .fla's and such, but I figured I'd try it all out. Not sure what's going on here but it seems I did walk into a bug. If I had to guess, I'd say the problem is that svn folders start with a "." (so ".svn").

Now that I have got your attention - Does anybody know how to use IWE Fade Slideshow? Is it easier to make some kind of fade slide show within Flash 2004 itself? I have 6 pictures (6 different laysers) and it works perfectly on my website (switches pictures every .2 second). It would be great to have some kind of affect when going from slide to slide. What is the easiest way to do this (for a Flash beginner)? Thanks!

what i want is when i rotate the gun with the mouse the ball will follow the direction of the gun.With this code the ball always goes on the 90 i think the problem is on the last line because it doesn't read x and y from the mouse please someone help me!!!!!

I have three sections of dynamic text on three layers. I would like to have scrollbars for each of these but it don't work (with putting them on all different layers, all three scroll bars control the first dynamic text.
How do I go about it?

I am making a little game for my little 3 year old.

Basically, there are 4 possible faces for each MC (teddy and dolly)... I am choosing a random number between 0 and 7, then trying to communicate to my MCs to play the proper frame (and/or frame label)

Any suggestions?

Anyone want to point me to a good tut' or url, to help me out with this operation. I want 1-2 mp3's, and I want a little movie clip, which has the movements, like the level's on a stereo. You see them all over the web, (little bars, that jump to the beat). Are those just random motion tweens, in a movie, clip that loop?

Trigger Happy-problem
I am developing a game where you can shoot magic stars by pressing down space. But if you hold down space you can shoot a zillion times. How do I make sure that when the player press or hold down the spacebar, only one shot will be fired?

Flash Nav Not Happy On Our Site...
Hello

Been trying to place our new Flash navigation system on the site and all kinds of problems - I manually placed it on our index page - http://www.enhancedwireless.net/index.html (under the banner) - and it works fine...

BUT the rest of the pages are a server side include, , and strange things are happening - firstly on 95% of the pages the FLASH part of the nav system either doesn't load or isn't there, only the html part of the nav, (have a look on any page) but on this one page it does appear and works just fine - http://www.enhancedwireless.net/FBform.shtml

Lastly, I've no idea why any of this would affect the left side bar navigation but on all the sub categories of the TECHNOLOGY pages - http://www.enhancedwireless.net/Technology/ODMA.shtml - (see the 5 sub menus?) the text is supposed to change to blue when you load its page, ie, click on Basic Concepts and in the menu the "Basic Concepts" text should be blue - it's certainly blue on the html in Dreamweaver - but online it stays white...this didn't happen before I updated the nav server side include page.

What in the world?

Tween Max - Not Happy With Motion
So usually I can get my motion exactly the way I want it but I'm not satisfied with the easing motion I am currently using.

Running at 30 FPS
Speed: .7
Scrolling a large movieclip (like 1800 pixels in height)
Strong.easeOut

It's basically a scrolling content type motion I am looking for. Click a button content scrolls revealing the proper section on the y axis.

Anyway, the motion just isn't fluid enough for my liking. I'm wondering if anyone has some tips or a different equation to make it more fluid.

Get what I'm sayin?

Here's the deal...I'm working on a new layout for my personal site and I need help with the transitions. Smooth Animations And Speed. Happy Medium, Help
Hey all,

I had a general question. I'm working with tweened animations (ie. stuff fading up via. alpha channel, movements, etc.)

Everything is looking jagged/staggered right now, my animations aren't smooth at all. I figured the more frames in an animation the smoother it would look (as in trad. animation) but the more frames I use the longer it takes the complete the animation.

What is the solution to getting quick AND smooth animations. If I want say, a black bar to streak across the bottom of the screen smoothly.

Do I need to use more keyframes inbetween my first and my last keyframe? I see great smooth and quick animations all the time, so I know the solution is here somewhere.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks for your time!

Laptops - Practical Size For Happy Coding
Hi All,

This is a coding practical-question, rather than a coding technical-question...

I'm a currently a dual-screen desktop coder, but I want to buy a nice little laptop, maybe a 12" screen (1280 x 800) so it's nice and light and easy to port around.

However I'm worried that I'll be wasting my money if it's just too small for doing anything practical!!

Does anyone have any opinions / experience on matters-laptop and coding (not just Flash, but a general development environment)?

Html, Flash And Swish? A Happy Trio?
Okay friends,
I have decided the following:

A html website, with dfferent flash/swish movies in different frames, all connected together.

For example, because of swish's ease of effect use, i am making my banner in swish.

HOWEVER...i wish for it to have the background "circle/bubbles" that is shown on kirupalabs. Is it at all possible to do apply flash mx active script in a swish movie?

See, they are both "flash" movies right? Only the programs are different. Is this possible?

Also is it possible to have the main frame of my site start out as a flash movie, and on completion unload, and then load the html content?

Hi all,

I'm getting frustrated with this....I'm trying to create a simple poll with flash mx but i can't find any resources anywhere on the net.

I simply want 3 questions (with a radio button for each one), a vote button and 3 bars that will appear and display the according percentage to each question.

Do I need to assign vars to each of the radio buttons, send them to some kind of script (php or cgi i think) and then have them sent back to flash to display the bars? Guess that's how it works...but i don't know how to do this.

Can anyone help me?
