Importing Adobe Illustrator Line Art (MX)?
Is there a way to import Illustrator line art with out it corrupting?

I have tried:
• Saving the line work in versions 5 and 7 illustrator and copying and pasting - which I did previously in Flash 5 - no problem - then broke the shape apart and it was fine - same outline shape -

• I also tried importing the file - no joy -

I would be very grateful for anyones help in solving this -

Importing Adobe Illustrator 9.0 Or EPS Files
I'm having a bit of trouble importing an Adoble Illustrator 9.0 file or an EPS file with the fonts embedded in the .eps or .ai file. It worked for one file, creating a "Clip Paths" folder in the Library, but with the other it just brings in a regular old file without a folder and the fonts are substituted with system fonts. Any ideas on why this is happening?

Thanks,

Brian

Importing Adobe Illustrator Layers Into Flash 4
I created a logo in Adobe Illustrator 9 using layers. I read that it is possible to import the layers from Illustrator so they will come in as layers in Flash. I've exported the layered Illustrator file as an .eps and then tried importing it into Flash 4, however, I keep getting an error message saying that Flash cannot read the file and then Flash quits. Do you have any idea why this isn't working? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Displaying Adobe Illustrator File Within Flash
I have adobe illustrator files located on the web and want to write a program to display them dynamically in flash. Is there a way to load a .ai file? loadMovie() doesn't seem to work.

Importing A File From Illustrator
Hi...

I imported an .ai file into flash MX, and assumed that flash would keep it in its vector form. At first it seemed to do that, because when I dragged the image around I could see lines around the various shapes which implied that it was still vector. But when I viewed the imported image in the library it showed up as a bitmap. And when I exported the movie it came in at 38k or so, which would be about appropriate for the image in a bitmapped form....

So is it vector or bitmapped...? Thanks

Importing An Illustrator File..
Hi there,
So, I created a logo in Illustrator 10. I can import it okay to Flash, the problem is when I start to motion/scale tween it.

The logo starts at about 1000% scaled up and through the timeline scales down to about 20%-so it ends up sitting on an object as that product's logo.

When it scales down to 20% it looks awful- the stroke outline on the logo looks all fuzzy.

I have broken it apart in Flash and created a graphic symbol out of it and that does not seem to work.

What can I do with the logo to make it scale correctly in flash?

Thanks!

Importing An Illustrator File?
I'm trying to import an illustrator file into flash and the image looks all choppy. Anyone else come across this? It seems like the gradients used are the parts that are choppy, but it seems like flash doesn't like the letter T either, at least with my files. The gradient is just missing from them.

Take a look here to see what I mean...

http://www2.paltronics.com/Show/tester.html

How do I fix this? Is there a better version to export the ai files as? They are version 8 right now.

Thanks,
John

Importing Illustrator 8 Eps File - NOT Working
Hi
I am still a beginner at Flash MX, so I am hoping this is an easy fix.

I am attempting to import an Illustrator 8.0 eps file into my library in Flash. When I import the file, it gets distorted.

The Illustrator file contains text along a circle path and I created it to outlines. Am i doing something incorrectly? Please help! Thanks!

Importing Illustrator File Into Flash
I'm trying to import some text from Illustrator into Flash MX and it's not keeping the formatting. It either brings the text in broken up into blocks of 1 or 2 letters. Or in unrecognizable characters. Or, the best success I've had is it brings it in all in one long column, but without the correct font, size, or formatting (it should be in 4 columns).

Anybody know the best way to import text from Illustrator into Flash? Or know why I might be having this problem?

Thank you!

Zoe

Image Problems Importing Illustrator 10 File Into Flash MX.
Hello,

I'm working on my portfolio and want to import an Illustrator (version 10) file into Flash (Flash MX). The problem I'm having is that when I import the Illustrator file into Flash, it comes out looking blurred. I tried exporting the Illustrator file into Photoshop and saving it as a JPEG, PNG, and TIFF (in each file format, changing the image size to 72 dpi) and I still get the same blurred result. I also tried saving the file for web, in Illustrator (in JPEG and PNG formats) with no success as well.

The Illustrator file is a small collage of my graphic design work (where I pasted graphic work done in Illustraor and made clipping masks to collage them together), so I'm not sure if bringing these files together maybe causing some technical issue or is importing Illustrator files into Flash just something that will always appear blurred. If so, is there a way I can bring the file into Photoshop and work with it where I can import it without the blurred appearance?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Importing Outlined Text From Illustrator
Hi there...
Wondering if someone can help me out.
I'm getting a designer to do some work for me in Adobe Illustrator. Since he's on a Mac, and I'm on a PC, I get him to turn all the type into outlines (I don't have the fonts), and to save the .ai file as Version 8. When I import the file into Flash, the outlined text does appear to be vector shapes but the text is no longer intact and has some areas missing. I can open the file in my Adobe Illustrator and there seems to be no problem but even if I try to cut and paste the outlined text into Flash it comes in broken.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?
Thanks

Importing Sequence - Most Efficient File Format
firstly, hi to everyone! it's nice to be part of a community similar interest.. hopefully i can help out as much as i can to add to the help offered by others here!

so my problem..

i'm importing a large sequence of images from google earth, the target is not for web but for demonstration purposes.

i've got 3 sequences, one of around 150images and the other 2 around 50 images.

currently i'm processing the files with photoshop to jpeg @ 1024x768

i'm using image sequences as they look a hell of alot better then video and demonstrate/represent the qual of google earths 3d better then a motion file (although it looks like i might have to go that route)

so the problem is that the file is eating up around 1.6gb of ram (this machine is a 3ghz p4d with ht and 2gb ddr2 looked to upgrade but this stupid motherboard has ram maxed out).

i can compile once then on second compilation it runs out of memory, to run the outputted swf (50mb file) in the standalone player it uses about 400mb of ram. my guess is when it runs it decompresses the images and bloats the ram usage.

so the question is would anyone have a better suggestion on a file format to use in the name of running smoothly without concern of the swfs actual filesize but more so on it running smoothly?

and if the best method for this would just be to use a video file, any suggestions on the best codec to use to get 1024x768 in flash looking clean?

thanks in advance..

Adobe Illustrator To Flash
I am making images in Illustrator, but then when I want to copy them over to Flash, the line thickness of the images are distorted and if I save it as a .jpg or .gif, it has a white space surrounding the image. Any way to get the image over to Flash without losing any content or quality?

Adobe Illustrator Imports
Hey all, I don't usually care for making images in Flash...so I use Adobe Illustrator...for my recent project for school I created all the images in Illustrator, then imported them to flash. All was fine the first time - but when I decided to make changes to the images, then import them again, flash in it's infinite wisdom decided to leave out parts of the image...I don't know if anyone else has come across this, but it's pissing me right off. Also, the first time I imported a certain image that had been 3D Extruded and Beveled in Illustrator, flash left out parts of that image too. Anyone else have that problem? Just try it if you have illustrator. Create a square with no border...then do the 3D Extrude and Bevel effect and import it into flash mx and see what happens.

[F8] Adobe Illustrator To Flash
I have an Adobe Illustrator image that I need to get into Flash. The problem is that if I export the image into an .swf file, the image becomes pixelated close up. I exported it with the highest settings and it still doesnt work nicely. Is there anything else I can do to get the image into flash nicely?

Working With (AI) Adobe Illustrator In Flash?
Basically what i have is a blueprint (floor plan) that i have vectored in illustrator with layers

I Imported the file to flash and it made a graphic symbol.. when you open that it has all my layers as flash layers.

what i wanted to do was break apart the walls in the floor plan and have them come together through a tween..

First i converted the graphic symbol to a movie clip symbol

The problem i am having is this: When i make another key frame (say 20 frames later) it stays blank.. so any movement i make won't tween when i try to make it. It seems that the lines in illustrator work the same way as one in flash but it just wont let me fill a new keyframe

is this a common bug.. or is there somethign im just missing.

it would be a really quick way to do my animation without retracing it in flash

thanks in advance.

Import Images Made In Adobe Illustrator
Hi

The Graphic designer I am working with made a few images using Adobe illustrator, now I would like to have those in my move. I know Flash is supposed to support illustrator eps. Files , but when I try to import them I get an error message telling me the file was not fully accepted by Flash, I can not see the image. Importing as gif. bmp. Is not an issue because I get really bad looking images.

What can I do ? what is the best way to import those images and not lose quality ?

Thanks,

Copying Artwork From Adobe Illustrator To Flash MX
i am doing all of my drawing in Adobe Illustrator (10) and copying via the clipboard straight into Flash (MX). however, most of the time, part of the file i am pasting into Flash is missing(certains shapes or lines etc.). Flash displays a message about parts of the file not being understood.
I have tried saving the file as an .ai or .eps in Illustrator and importing it into Flash but am still having the same problem. it is a real ***** as after spending time doing a nice piece of artwork in Illustrator I end up having to redo parts of it in Flash with the much cruder tools available there. any help would be appreciated by me (and my wife who has to live with me). thanks

Adobe Illustrator Files Into Flash - Really Annoying Problem
Hi People

I'm having real trouble importing Adobe Illustrator Files into Flash!

It imports them but just misses certain parts out. This is really annoying as the files are Company Logos!

Has anybody else shared this problem? It's really annoying!

But more importantly does anybody know a way of importing Adobe Illustrator Files into Flash without pieces of them disappearing?

Is it best to do them as .AI or .EPS?

Hope someone can help!

Cheers,

Exporting EPS / Illustrator Format
I'm trying to export an EPS from MX and then place it into Illustrator but it's not happening. It just sits there not doing anything.

I tried to open the EPS in Photoshop to see if that could enlighten me, and that said that it wasn't a proper EPS file?

The weirdest thing is that I tried it the other day and it opened up perfectly in Illustrator.

I'm very confused about this, can anyone help? I've tried a search but got nowhere.

The basic problem I have is that I have many bitmap graphics as fills in my Flash file and need to export to .ai format, but when I do this, the bitmaps disappear and I'm left with blank space. As I say, exporting to EPS remedied this, but now it doesn't work. I'm trying to work out how to apply a fill in Illustrator that uses bitmaps but can't. And I suppose this is the wrong place to find out!

Any help would be most appreciated!

Exporting To Illustrator/EPS/Any External Vector Format?
Okay, I'm sure many of you on here have had problems with this, and it seems like quite an apparent problem so I can't imagine it hasn't been looked at and dealt with, but here's my issue.

What is the best way to export images from flash to AI/EPS, while still maintaining all the same colors and gradients? I've not once been able to export to EPS without it messing up the colors MAJORLY. That and I don't think I've ever seen it export to a gradient, although I know AI supports gradients. So what's the problem? Has anybody made any kind of external app that can do the conversion better? I really like Flash's illustration tools and am quite adept at using them, and I want to be able to use it to make print-quality illustrations. But right now the only way I've been able to maintain my colors is to export to JPEG at a really high resolution, which isn't a good enough fix for me.

Can anyone help with this? I'd be VERY much appreciative.

How To Format External Text File To Show In Three Separate Columns Through Text Area?
Hullo everyone!

Could anyone suggest a piece of advice to visualize the following idea?

I should like to import an external .txt file into flash and display it by means of a text area component, which would take the better part of the screen and be skinned to fit the rest of the page design. The text ought to be formatted by way of an external .css file. Images are optional.

I can do all this allright, but what I should like to have is the text formatted to be displayed in three separate columns. The idea for this naturally comes from the Flash version of the Macromedia Edge newsletter.

I should be most thankful if anyone cared to come up with a solution.

Importing From Illustrator?
Does anyone know how to successfully import vector graphics from Illustrator into Flash??
Im using flash MX and Illustrator 9, and importing an eps file.
Usually, a few colours change in the image, and I dont really mind manually going about changing them back, but for some reason, when i try to import a particular image, not only the colours, but some of the shapes are changing also...

help!
does anyone know why this happens and if there's a solution??

Importing Illustrator Eps
Hi...Longtime reader, first time poster.

I have been toying with Flash for the past few years, but have never really taken a full dive. So this may be an easy question to answer.

When I attempt to import Illustrator eps's, I am told, the file could not be read.

So I go to illustrator to do a copy/paste outlined fonts/text into my Flash document. When it pastes, it is distorted, all the fonts are messed up. It doesn't matter what size the font is, how blocky, or simple, the result of the pasted graphic is not workable.

Is there a specific setting that I am missing in the preferences, or is this a problem for pasting between different applications? How many have had similar problems...

All your help is appreciated

Importing From Illustrator
okay so this might be a pretty basic question, but im going crazy cause i just cant figure this out.
How do i effectively import Illustrator files into flash.
What ive done so far is export them out of illustrator as swf files, which tends to work sometimes, but the typical result is usually missing letters or goofed up fonts, or just general missing components.
If anyone could please enlighten me on why this happens or what i might be doing wrong i would really appreciate it.

Im on a mac, using flash mx, and illustrator 10.

Importing Illustrator?
So when I import Illustrator stuff, it just gives me flat images, not the layers. Also, if I try to bring in PSD or AI files that are shapes such as circles or people or whatever, i don't get transparent backgrounds.

My designer boss said his other programmer can simply import the AI file and it keeps all the original layers and such. Why can't I do this?

Importing Illustrator Eps
I'm trying to import an Illustrator eps logo but it looks crappy. I tried saving it as a png, a jpeg and a giff but they all look rasterized.

[F8] Importing Illustrator Doc's
Hello Everyone:
I have files that I originally created in Illustrator CS2, that I am importing into Flash 8. My problem is, they don't look clear as vector should once imported into Flash. I've tried saving as pdf and png - it looked the same. Sometimes when I import an AI file in and leave it at 100%, it's fine - but if I try to reduce the image inside Flash, it becomes very jagged looking. As an AI user, I know that this should not happen with vector images. What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions.
Thanks so much,

Importing From Illustrator
im having a problem moving a file from illustrator to flash. i can get the file to move but part of the file is an object with a pattern swatch as a fill and when i import it into flash there are some gray x's that show up. i dont want to rasterize the object because it has a transparency to it that turns white when rasterized. Anyone know how to solve this?

Importing Illustrator
Is there a way to import .ai files using ActionScript 3.0? I would find this very useful to be able to import an external vector image. Thanks

Format Of A Text File
Hello,

I have two arrays "array1" and "array2". I load the values in array1 by reading images1.txt and load the values in array2 by reading images2.txt.

The following is the code for reading the text from file "images1.txt" and loading into array1.

Images1=a1.jpg|a2.jpg|a3.jpg|a4.jpg|a5.jpg|a6.jpg

m = new LoadVars();
m.load('images1.txt', this);
m.onLoad = function(ok) {
//Builds the file array
if (ok) {
array1 = this.Images1.split("|");
}
};

This works fine. Similarly I read the text from "images2.txt" and load the array2.

Now my question is Can I load both array1 and array2 by reading from a single text file? If so, what should be the format for my combined text file.

Shown below is the format for my individual text files.

"images1.txt"
Images1=a1.jpg|a2.jpg|a3.jpg|a4.jpg|a5.jpg|a6.jpg

"images2.txt"
Images2=b1.jpg|b2.jpg|b3.jpg|b4.jpg|b5.jpg|b6.jpg

Importing Illustrator Files
No doubt this has been discussed but I can't find it:

Importing Illustrator EPS Problems
I created files in Adobe Illustrator 10 that are saved in illustrator eps format. When I try to import them into FlashMX I get a message saying much of the eps data has been lost and flash can only import Adobe Ilustrator EPS format. Am I missing something here?
I need to be able to import them because when I drag the images from the Illustrator stage to the Flash stage the images become distoted.
I also just upgraded to OSX.2 Jaguar, could this be a reason that flash isn't cooperating?

Importing Graphics From Illustrator
I am fairly new to flash. I have some text in illustrator that has been converted to paths. The problem is when I try to paste this text into flash mx, it gives me an error message that says. ---The EPS file was not completely understood. Part or all of the file may be missing. Flash only supports importing the Adobe Illustrator EPS file format. Most drawing tools, including Macromedia Freehand, import and export this format.---

Then the text displays as an incomplete graphic.

I have also tried to import this file into the library, but Flash will crash on me everytime I try.

Any suggestions????

Thanks in advance!
