I dunno where to ask this question so i opted to put this under miscellaneous.

I know how to create dreamweaver template but i'm not sure about flash template.

my question now is are they the same? or the flash has different template format?

I have the scripts folder in the right place.

Why on earth would this be happening? Everything is linked correctly.

But I don't know how to get to the point to be able to edit these, is anyone with more experience able to point me in the right direction here?

Most of the files I try to open in DreamWeaver give me a hard time, I think I am opening them from the wrong area by just clicking open? Also I am dumbfounded on how to get editable regions!

Inserting A Flash Template Into Dreamweaver
I have Macromedia Flash Pro 8 and I am using it to edit a flash template. When I put it in dreamweaver I can view it and it is fine, but when I try to put it on my remote server(my site) I cannot get it on there. Does anyone have a solution for this? May some key file that I need to be looking for?

Dreamweaver Template Breaks Xml Gallery

When running the photo gallery using xml and flash tutorial everything works, the minute it's placed within a DW template in a sub folder the images don't show. Yup, broken link. Seems to defeat the purpose of using a template. Any ideas other than placing modified files in every folder that will use the gallery?

Flash Menu In A Dreamweaver Template?
Hiya I'm about to attempt to make a Dreamweaver template - but instead of having HTML menubar - I was hoping to create a Flash menubar which would be constant throughout the page as part of the template.

Anything in particular I need to know? Do I just create the menubar in Flash...with on release...in main window etc.. and then import it into the template?

Will it work?

I guess my first question, is, is it possible to add a flash object to a dreamweaver template, and if so, is there something "specific" i have to add or change in order for it to be viewed?

Dynamic Text Not Working When In Dreamweaver Template
Hello:
I am having a problem getting a Flash file to work properly in Dreamweaver MX. Everything works great up until the external text file is supposed to load. For some reason that text is not loading propoerly when the entire movie is loaded. Now I I just put the flash file let's say contacts.swf into a table itself without any of the others it works great. It is almost as if something isn't linked properly. The thing that is wierd is this just happens with .txt files with html, non-html .txt files work fine, but we need the html to make the pages updateable.

Any suggestions?

Creating Flash Mx04 Button Template For Dreamweaver Mx
ive created buttons in flash mx04 and want to add them to the flash buttons in DW so that i can create the links there. any ideas on how to do this? apparently you use to be able to export them as swt files which converted them to templates and i dont think this function was included in mx04

Flash Menu Inside Dreamweaver Template Using GETURL Command....
Nice easy question for you.

I'm using a flash menu inside a Dreamweaver template to navigate the html pages in the site.
Now I'm using GETULR and this works fine to open the link BUT opens it in a new window.... how do I tell flash to keep the template on the page and simply load the linked html into the template (I'm not using frames)?

Also while we're at it a silly question - were this simply an html page I could link simply to "page.html" in the site - with flash I seem to have to link to the actual URL eg www.mysite.com/pages/page.html is there a way around this? e.g. place the flash movie in the root of the folder for the webpage and then simply link to /pages/page.html....?

I'd really appreciate your help on this guys I'm a little screwed for time here!

Editing .swf Files For Web Template *Help*
Hey, I am VERY new to flash, and I am not really interested in learning all about it.

But I do have a few problems.

1.) I downloaded a Web Template in Flash, to use on a website I am making.
- These are the folders in this template and the files in each folder.
- Flash ( content.fla / index.fla / home.fla) Type of file - Flash Documents -
- Html ( about/contacts/home/index/news/products/services) < Flash Movies also another Index file type (Firefox Document)
- psd (index) << Adobe photoshop image
- fonts 5 font names.

Ok, so I have adobe flash cs3, and I messed around a little bit with the .fla files content/index/home, and changed the text to suit what I wanted, and also removed a sound clip, and changed some more text.

Now I saved these, and copied over the .fla files in the Flash folder.

Here is my problem, although my changes saved,the website still looks the same even after re uploading the new .swf files. Although when i open the .swf files in Flash they are infact changed.

I've tried deleting all the .fla and .swf files i uploaded, and re uploading my changed ones, but it seems like it's not even going off of the .fla files that I edited? and the files in the HTML folder I cannot edit.. they just open up like a jpeg picture.

Any feedback or help would be GREATLY appreciated, Thanks in advance. I'll keep checking back for a response.

Alright I have looked about everywhere, except the right place. I know 0 about flash. Just got Flash CS3. Everything I find is for older versions of flash including the info on template monster.

I have an .fh9 file that i want to insert in dreamweaver. I need to know if .fh9 files are the correct format to use for web pages or should a different format be used.

Flash CS3 HTML/Javascript Template Files
Has anyone heard of the javascript file that flash cs3 produces causing .swfs to behave differently between browsers? It's happening to me and can't figure out why. If I use the basic of html to get the .swf to work, it behaves properly. When I use the CS3 HTML template chosen from publish settings, the file doesn't work properly in Internet Explorer but still works in Firefox and Safari. Anyone ever hear of problems with this code?

Flash Files In Dreamweaver
Hi.

After I've created my flash files I usually dump them into a Dreamweaver file to post them.

The problem is that when the pages are loading, they always flash white for a second.

Is there anyway to avoid this problem?

The background color in the flash file and Dreamweaver are the same.

Multiple Swf Files In Dreamweaver 4?
Can anyone please tell me if it is possible to have multiple .swf files embedded in a simple .html page in Dreamweaver? If so, how would I go about doing that? Two of the .swf files are animated and should run one after the other so both animations can be seen easily. The third .swf file contains buttons to other pages. I know how to use Flash 5 pretty well. Flash MX & Dreamweaver are both new to me. I've created some .swf files that are used as buttons on dreamweaver.

I can't get anything to link to the other .html documents!!!! These are pretend (not published) html sites that we're creating in Dreamweaver. I've created links in Flash, and in Dreamweaver ... nothing seems to be working. My poor users are stuck on 1 page!

Avi Video Files In Dreamweaver
Hi,
I want to play .avi files using dreamweaver. There appear to be several ways to do this (insert plugin or activex and then associate the source file) but I cant get it to work how I want. I have a few main problems:
1. Though I had it working OK before, I now only see the first fraction of a second of my AVI file before IE closes itself. I dont know what I've screwed up here so any help.....
2. When the avi file does play (did, I should say), I was getting the control buttons displayed along with the video - the buttons for play, stop, volume etc. Does anyone know how I can turn these controls off so I just see the video itself?
3. When I have sound on the avi too, I get a VERY jerky image - like the machine is struggling to keep up! Any ideas on how to sort this out but retain the quality (if a lower sample rate on sound is your first thought)?

Linking To A Flash Quiz Template (and Other Local Files)
Morning All,

I have recently spent a bit of time dabbling with the flash cs3 quiz wizard. I added an exit button to it and added code to stretch to full-screen. The code I am using is a simple loader code...

But it doesn't seem to load the background image. The swf works if you open it on its own but it seems to be transparent with all the quiz components still showing. (Edit: I just realized that the quiz template uses as 2.0, could this be the problem? However does similar transparent problems when flv components is on stage in an as 3.0 swf.)

What I am wondering is if there is a way of linking to the swf and opening it over the top rather than loading it inside the swf? I am also interested in linking to other external files if this is possible.

Flash Files Won't Upload To Web Using Dreamweaver
I have a couple swf. files which i am trying upload to my site using dreamweaver. Problem is the movies play fine when previewed inside dreamweaver but when i go online they're gone. I have flash 7 plugins installed.

Old User Still Has Files Checked Out In Dreamweaver
I am editing a site that somebody else edited a few weeks ago, and for whatever reason a lot of the files are still listed as being checked out by that user, even though they haven't worked on the site for a while. I get warning messages when I try to overwrite them, and they still have the red checkmarks next to them.

I'm not sure if the other user was using Dreamweaver themselves, but these messages are showing up for me in Dreamweaver.

Do you know any way to tell Dreamweaver that the file is no longer checked out by this other person?

This is Dreamweaver MX 2004.

(Also, is this information stored in a text file by Dreamweaver on the server or something? Because I suppose I could just edit the text file...)

Putting Flash Files In Dreamweaver - Why The Boarder?
can anyone help with this one - I've built an on-line portfolio in flash and want to export it online with an exact size browser window, with no nav bar, sliders etc, just a title.

I've tried to do this in dreamweaver and i can get the pop up window fine, and set the positioning on the embedded flash file to 0,0. I set the window to be exactly the same size as the flash file 550x400 but for ome reason i keep getting a white border around the bottom and right hand side about 5mm thick and i can't seem to get the browser window to fit exactly. Does anyone know why this may be??

PS I'm using IE5 could this be the problem?

Update Browser Check Files For Old Dreamweaver Version?
I'm still using Dreamweaver MX 2004, because my school hasn't upgraded its free (VPN-tied) options, and I can't afford to buy an updated version myself.

Unfortunately, the "Target Browser Check" only goes up through IE6, and has "Mozilla 1.0" but no Firefox.

Does anybody know if there is a way to update the files that Dreamweaver uses for its CSS/HTML browser check, without buying a new version?

I've finally come back to my original document that I need this function to work on. There's a problem with it continuously looping to undefined when I move it from images1-1 to bubba1-2.
Bubba1-2 is my default template that I need to make this work on.

I've placed a zip file if I'm not making sense, for someone to help me on this little loop problem.
I think the problem is on line 116 of bubba1-2, when I tell it to loop again.

Flash SWT Files Creating Flash Button Templates For Dreamweaver
I was working with some students who like the Flash Buttons that are part of Dreamweaver. They thought it would be a cool idea to create their own buttons and add them as templates. Reading on the Adobe website it says to use Flash 5 to create and export the file as a SWT file type. There are further articles that says this can not be done with Flash MX. Has Adobe brought this back for Flash 8 or CS3? How else would someone accomplish this?

I got some movies, which are seperate FLA. files, and I want to eventually add all these 4 seperate files, into scenes in one main FLA. file. How do I do this so that I have the symbols ect. I am pretty sure you can't just copy/paste.

I tried to use fscommand to execute certain batch files on my system. It worked fine while I tested the swf file, but didn't do anything when I published the movie and tried the same in the .html file ?

On each card i will need to have lots of buttons that will play a word or number when pressed.

I just purchased a flash template from http://www.besttemplate.net and I'm having trouble editing it. There is a spot on the template to allow visitors to sign up for an email newsletter, but it doesn't actually work, and I'd like to get that working. There's also a music player that has a lot of actionscript already written for it, but it still doesn't actually work. Can anyone help me get these two things working? OK, I bought a template from www.templatemonster.com The template is http://www.templatemonster.com/flash...ates/6927.html well, I can edit the top half with no problems, BUT I can't seem to find the bottom part of the site(where the chick is standing) When I pull it into Flash MX it doesn't even show up unless I export it. Where the hell would it be, and how can I edit it? If anyone can help I would appriciate so much. I can put the package on my server and you can download it if you need to see it. Just let me know. I brought a template off the net and with the little bit of flash knowledge i have ive managed to get most of what i need done.
changing the logo and adding my content etc
but im not sure how to add a new page so i can put in more content.

in the libray theres a movie clip that relates to the page.

profile page 1 content with 4 new pages on 4 different key frames. ive tried to add a new 5th keyframe (right click add key frame ) but when i click the button it just goes page 1...page 2...page 3...page 4....and then back to page 1

how can i get it to recognise theres a new page

did that make any sense to anyone ???

I am a newbie. How do I correctly 'import' a flash template into DW8?? Then, modify the template, and place it onto my server from DW8.
Also, I have a file that allows the mouse/cursor to have a trailer (stars & flakes), but I do not understand just WHERE to place that file into a non-flash website to work. Which file for making the mouse trailer to work for the visitor??

I am trying to edit a flash banner in a web site template. The banner is flash the rest of the site is html. In the banner is a looping slide show with 5 images. I want to replace the images. The images are symbols in the library. I have changed my images to bit maps because the symbols are bit maps. I have replaced the old images with mine by naming them the same thing. I save the file and when I go to the html to view the template. The banner is the same. I have deleted the old images but they are still there. Please help. Thanks.

I am in the process of customizing my template and I have run into a problem. You will better understand if you go to www.swamplandreptiles.com/swampland3.html.

I've already added new pages to the template, but when going to the new page the big picture at the top is the same pic as the copied page. If you go to Contact Us you will see the Chameleon. Then go to Reptile parties and click party prices you'll the chameleon, and on the home page click read more about us at the bottom and you will again see the chameleon. I would like these new pages to have different pics. If any one could help me out I would REALLY appreciate it. If I need to I can upload my .swf file for someone to look at.
